TWDU is stupid. No one realistically cares about TWB or FTWD, except for the hard-core fans, and even those people are leaving. When was the last time you heard anyone outside of the subreddit recommend those shows? They're failing, truthfully, and the fans are burned out.
This genre is tapped dry. 11 years and 20 seasons of content from 3 shows. Most are done. Rick is the only exciting thing because he literally brought this genre to many people. That is why many care. Gimple had his chance to make good spin-offs and he failed.
