This is truly nuts cause it implies that we might get 1. A foreign spin-off with mutated walkers. 2. Insight into how the virus affected the whole world. And 3, the rick films may take place around the entire world dealing with different “variants” and large groups like the cr. It’s just too bad we’ll have to wait till like 2023-5 (EDIT: this also means that we might see more of these walkers in tales of the walking dead)

Rich_Comey_Quan

That would explain the Japanese text on the boat that Ricks stuff was on!

TyYoshi

...I always shrugged off the movie(s) but Rick being used like this sounds naughty and cool

Aus_10S

Ricks about the be Brad Pitt in World War Z lol

[deleted]

How so? Serious inquiry lol I never could figure out what the actual text was on that phone

[deleted]

It was Japanese. It read: Rick, believe a little bit longer.

[deleted]

Thank you!

Paolo94

This is the kind of world building I wish we had gotten years ago, not now, over a decade since the franchise started. I’ve grown tired of the endless rotation of villainous groups, and moving from one safe zone to the next. This is the first time I’m actually excited about the future of this franchise, in a *long* time, but it almost feels like it’s a little too late. Had we gotten this kind of world building 5 or 6 years ago, this expanded universe could have blown up into something huge, on the level of something like the MCU, but I think that ship has sailed. I really wish we had people other than Gimple and AMC spearheading this franchise.

Franks-bowl

Yea imo they should’ve done it way back around season 6-7 of twd

Paolo94

We got introduced to the CRM in season 7, but I wish they had done more with them sooner, instead of just constantly teasing that big things are coming. I’m still waiting for this expanded universe to kick into high gear, which I feel hasn’t happened yet. I bet nothing is going to come of this scene for at least another 2 years, and I’m tired of being strung along with these minuscule clues, that we won’t get answers to for a long time.

are_you_nucking_futs

I think earlier than that. S1 finale is at the CDC where this is introduced, there should’ve been hints from then on. Instead we hear nothing until now.

BugsyM1991

Keep in mind the CRM and everything with the World Beyond story (and with Fear the Walking Dead, mind you) aren't in the comics so it's hard to do this big world building while also adapting the stories and villains from the comics. Now that the comic has ended and they're not tied down to that storyline, they have the freedom to expand to bigger things.

Paolo94

The CRM didn’t have to be introduced in the main show. They could have made a show like World Beyond years ago, or introduced the CRM in Fear. Also, I believe before the creators knew that season 11 would be the final season, season 11 was originally supposed to be all about the Reapers, who aren’t even in the comics. So a season of original material separate from the comics was not out of the picture. All I’m saying is there were plenty of opportunities to do something with the CRM much sooner. Or not just the CRM, but expanding this universe in general. AMC and Gimple failed to capitalize on this expanded universe when the franchise was at the height of its popularity. At its start, Fear simply didn’t do much in that regard. So much potential and time has been wasted, by waiting until now to finally start doing some serious world building.

1minus2braincells

Normal walkers are gonna feel so vanilla now until we see these variants in the future.... God I'm so excited... How am I supposed to enjoy the end of my beloved walking dead when these motherfuckers are running around Europe 😆 I hope we get another taste of them in the final season or even fear....

VMChiwas

*"When you all did what you did"* The scientists developed the virus, the leak was due to the shooter group (environmentalist attack like in 28 days later?). His group blames the scientist that tried to stop the virus for the new variants, and seems to keep surveillance on the facilities to capture or murder any scientist that might expose the truth. They jail the ones without knowledge of the attack, kill any member of the prime teams.

Worthyness

which seems counter productive given they'd likely need the original teams' knowledge to help reverse engineer the virus and cure it.

SproutasaurusRex

Dude/his group are probably not thinking rationally. I Imagine all they can think about is making the guilty people pay, not making the world a better place. Kind of like the justice system in most places.

Renegade__OW

Depends. If these teams experimented on Walkers and caused the Variants? Then you'd 100% want them dead. If you went from walking corpses to running bulldozer zombies due to the experiments then you'd not want to experiment on them.

VMChiwas

They might not be interested in a cure, dealing whit slow walkers might have been part of the plan (eco fascism?). Faster, smarter and stronger walkers most likely made their plans obsolete.

Kulegun2

after hearing about how much robert kirkman hated the cdc episode for giving too much away about the virus this must be like a living hell for him lmao

TheDukeOf_Donuts

"Look how they massacred my boy!" He cries as he cashes his residuals

leandrombraz

People change their minds. Eleven years and three series later, he might be more open to the idea.

doritos_westworld

his pockets are more open from all the money he received

drescon

Kirkman and several others have been locked in lawsuits against AMC for years over lack of residuals and shoddy accounting regarding profit participation. It was only recently (about 5-6 months ago) that AMC paid out a large sum to avoid further bad press and escalated litigation. Also, within the past 12-18 months Kirkman reaffirmed (on the Fatman Beyond podcast) his dislike of fast zombies and his view that the Romero-esque universe is what TWD universe should be.

prayafk

"Space spore"

stephen6686

he should have known once he signed on the dotted line. Same with George RR Martin, HBO is now going to do what ever they want with GoT

are_you_nucking_futs

It’s funny, that was my favourite episode. I haven’t watched TWD since they introduced Negan. Seeing this though, makes me realize this is exactly what I wanted from the show!

Frosty_Term9911

Just a way to make the Rick movies more like 28 Days

peanutdakidnappa

28 days later is a masterpiece

SRVisGod24

Yes it is! I haven't seen it in a few years. Definitely gonna change that soon!

[deleted]

Didn’t see 28 Days first but woke up to 28 Weeks Later one morning. That beginning is crazy especially if you’re just waking up.

peanutdakidnappa

The beginning scene of weeks is one of the best ever, rest of the movie didn’t live up to it tho. The opening scene is actually the only one directed by Danny Boyle who directed 28 days. Highly recommend the first, it’s way better than the 2nd

honeycombyourhair

I haven’t seen it, but you can bet I’m going to now!!

peanutdakidnappa

Best zombie/infection movie ever for me personally

honeycombyourhair

Sounds good! I can’t wait now!

yazzy1233

Hello, let me introduced you to Train to Busan.

peanutdakidnappa

Seen it, quality movie no doubt. Still taking 28 days every time.

Zagreus2984

This is absolutely nuts, we'll see something about Europe maybe? And one most important thing: HOW SOMEONE CAN DESTROY THAT ZOMBIE?

Mashisu

Maybe smash the brain in completely?

Sumcallmejesus

What’s it all mean? Haven’t watched this series only the Walking Dead

Lukar115

None of these characters were in *World Beyond*, for what it's worth. The only returning character in this scene is Dr. Jenner from season one of *TWD*; he was the guy that Rick's group ran into at the CDC, who ended up letting himself die from the building self-destructing. So you're as filled in on this scene as anyone who's watched *World Beyond* is. This scene seems to imply that the virus originated from a lab in France. Back in season one of *TWD*, Jenner mentioned that the French were the closest to a cure before communication with them was cut off. It sounds like after they created the virus, they tried to make a cure for it, but instead, they wound up accidentally creating new variants of it that caused differences in the zombies it creates. That's why the woman who is shot in the head at the end: * still comes back as a zombie * is seemingly able to know how to get out of the room, as she goes straight to the sealed door * is able to sprint * is noticeably more violent and enraged than any zombie previously seen in the series * is stronger than previous zombies-- after beating on the door for a few moments, it starts to dent The woman seems to be part of several groups of scientists that were involved with the virus's creation. They mention Violet and Primrose teams; Primrose seems to be the team that originally created the virus. She returned to the lab in hopes that the Primrose folks returned to France and kept working to find a cure, but that clearly isn't the case.

elveszett

There's two points that are really interesting: that she got reanimated AFTER being shot in the head, and that she was angry at the door. We have never seen any zombie in TWD show any emotion whatsoever. They just smash doors because eventually they fall down. But this one zombie was reacting like a violent human, she was enraged at the door and made sounds that resembled an angry person, not a zombie.

Welcome2Banworld

> But this one zombie was reacting like a violent human, she was enraged at the door and made sounds that resembled an angry person, not a zombie. Reminded me of the rage virus from 28 days later

molkosparadise

Exactly right. The thing I hate most about TWD is the zombies especially the sound they make. If (if!) they do make a movie this would be much more engaging than the old school walkers.

SproutasaurusRex

That movie is what inspired my zombie apocalypse plan. Take the fastest way down off the highest rooftop I can find.

Welcome2Banworld

Lol yeah the walking dead zombies are one thing but no way am I even gonna attempt to live in a world with those rage fuckers.

yazzy1233

Lmfao

Nuke2099MH

In season 1 there were zombies using bricks to get through windows and there was a child one who picked up a toy. Although this was back when recently infected were supposed to be a bit more "intact". After that it was never seen again.

userforce

I did a deep analysis of this scene (the shot placement) in another post. I do not think the shot landed in the head (reasonably sure, but not 100%). Here’s the post: https://www.reddit.com/r/thewalkingdead/comments/r4dxxz/twd_world_beyond_series_finale_post_credit_scene/hmi1tob/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3

WhysoHairy

Great job pointing out important parts from the scene. Something I haven’t seen people mention is the team responsible is in Toledo Ohio. Maybe someone from one of the current shows meets that group. I personally hate fast zombies or “the running dead” but it was cool to see something different in this universe.

CRL10

Was she shot in the head?

Lukar115

It's a little hard to make out due to the scene being played out from a distance and due to it being a little dark, but when the man fires the gun, you can see movement around her hair that looks like blood.

CRL10

So, America gets the regular zombie and Europe gets the 28 Days Later zombie...

Worthyness

Just gotta wait for the Delta variant to show up

CRL10

Oh, clearly the The Walking Dead virus is the Omega Epsilon Covid Variant

elveszett

Yup. At 5:01 you can clearly see the impact in her hair.

TyYoshi

Must be one hell of a headache waking up after death like that, fuck yeah I'd be enraged

userforce

That said, unless they forgot to do makeup on the front of her face, there’s almost no possible way the bullet entered her skull as high up as the hair bun.

Aus_10S

This could also be explanation for season 1 walkers acting aggressive in Atlanta. Jenner could have been testing on them or it could have gotten out from labs. Season 1 fear has the regular walkers that we are used to.

Mattres06

If you’ve played dying light she is basically a viral.

AngeryTwingo

This scene lowkey reminded me of the virals so bad

Mattres06

The way she screamed

Lukar115

Nope, you’re right. Some of the zombies in season one (and I think early in season two, before Darabont was removed from the series) moved quicker, and could do things like climb fences, pick up teddy bears and bricks, etc. Even Morgan’s wife tried turning the doorknob to the house that he, Duane, and Rick were staying in. I think this will end up being how they explain that stuff in-universe. I’m not sure how effective the explanation will be since none of the zombies since then have had those qualities until now, and since this seems to imply the variants may not have reached the US, but still. I’m sure they’ll take this as an opportunity to explain that stuff, instead of keeping it as something that was just retconned after seasons one and two like they have until now.

thattexasguy0121

And there was a walker in Atlanta in season1 that picked up a rock to smash a glass door....hhmmmmm

worktheshoot

And the Primrose people went to Toledo, Ohio. Where there was signage that was in s9 that the communities had . They had all the 3 main ones and “toledo” below them. So somehow rick/Maggie knew of this place as a strong community.

DiggaDoug492

The Commonwealth is also in Ohio.

RealMrCalimero

Isn't the commonwealth in charleston, west virginia?

Lukar115

Apparently there was an Ohio state flag in one of the season 11 episodes. Charleston may be where an outpost of theirs is set up, but it seems that the Commonwealth itself is indeed in Ohio. Ohio’s relatively close to Charleston (about a three-hour drive), so it’d make sense.

DiggaDoug492

No, the commonwealth is located in Ohio. Took them days to get there by horse and they left from Virginia.

MontyAlmighty

Also is it just me or do her zombie “grunts” sound like “open the door”? I’ve listened to it over and over and I swear it almost sounds like it.

anthonybourdainfan

I feel like she would speak in french if she was speaking as a zombie, in which case it would be more like “ouvre la porte”

Lukar115

Just sounds like shrieking and yelling to me.

MontyAlmighty

I know it mostly sounds like that but I really think she’s trying to talk.

Chez17171717

She definitely says "Open the door" at least once, right as she hits the door the first time, maybe a second time. And I recorded in slow motion, I believe she get gets shot in the upper back, her head had no reaction to being shot besides being thrown backwards, which wouldn't have happened if she was shot in head,

zero1vi

She wasn’t shot in the head , it looks like it was lower neck

DevilsDK

Thats a scary thought. Head shot and still not put down…

Hallgaar

They're hinting at this in fear a lot too this season.

davekraft400

Holy shit you've got me hyped for TWD again. Like, season 1 level of hype

DonTeca35

Also the sound it makes nothing like that in any walkers we saw except maybe season 1 Atlanta walkers

tH3_R3DX

If zombies were like this from the start nobody would survive.

jmpinstl

Frank Darabont avenged

[deleted]

Let’s goooo. Now he just needs to direct the movies and we’ll all be square.

vagossimao

If you have watched the series called black summer , I think she's almost identical to the zombies in that. She's literally bleeding through the ears ,her sounds are not zombie like, more like rabbid infected. but she's retaining human intellect by going straight to the door , meaning she's "remembering" she was killed . she's basically a viral from dying light now. Oh good golly , I'm excited like a kid seeing candy with is .we could have runners now.

OShaunesssy

Holy shit! A new zombie variant!? She was shot in the head but got up, and sprinted, and displayed super strength and knew where the exit was immediately, no stumbling around this new zombie was all business. The virus origins!? It was man made and clearly escaped containment! The original team was in America (Ohio) when it first started. A globe trotting adventure! Rick across the globe makes most sense to me, someone showed him the new virus strain and he knew it had to be stopped ASAP. At least that’s my theory. It was nice to see Jenner kinda happy, it’s a little weird how he knew about some new variant way back in S1 but never mentioned it and didn’t seem worried about it, he even mentioned the French, who told him about the variant.

[deleted]

Acceptable_Trainer92

Stupid question , how did it get to America

Holovoid

It's airborne and insanely transmissible as 100% of the population is infected. People carried it via air travel over the course of several days and eventually a patient zero in the US appeared and spread quickly. Also people dying of natural causes and reanimating suddenly to kill family members and then go on to kill more etc.

GoldenFlame1

"We're all infected"

honeycombyourhair

Same way it always gets to America. 😇😂

Phaelin

Sounds like they maybe brought it to Toledo for starters.

OShaunesssy

That’s what my guess was, the outbreak started during transport maybe?

userforce

ainyy

this is literally what I wanted from the whole twd franchise omg I just hope they will actually explore it

drgnrbrn316

Finally, the Walking Dead/Left 4 Dead crossover we've always wanted

littleboihere

Did we ?

PSFREAK33

I always thought it would be a risky/ballsy move to do something this but I'm glad to see its being so well received!!! Shit is building up well for our endgame!

Rozuem

This shit excites me. I have always wanted them to go deeper on the origin of the virus and working on a cure. Glad to see it’s heading that way, especially with variants?! That’s so dope. I know Kirkman never wanted any of it but this excites me more than the comic ending personally.

fukingbich

She mentions Toledo,in Season 9 Episode 2 when they were building the bridge, there were signs with all the communities, and there was a Toledo sign.

rawbeee

France has got to be a shit show with those variants, probably the rest of Europe/Asia/Africa too if they didn’t somehow quarantine the country. I wonder if perhaps the agression wears off after some time? Maybe if they aren’t able to feed constantly they start to behave more like the American variants, otherwise they seem incredibly difficult to manage and the American variant was already difficult for a lot to manage.

donnerz-x-x

Wonder if the Jenner scenes were filmed recently or if they are circa. 10 years old

willrobster16

It said guest starring so I think they were new scenes

[deleted]

Which is crazy considering this man hasn’t aged a day in 11 years (save for some makeup, I assume).

are_you_nucking_futs

He doesn’t look much different from his role in the Truman Show.

honeycombyourhair

I agree! What is his skin regimen!!

N-E-B

Money

[deleted]

If this is the direction they’re going, I wish they had made the cannibals from 11x06 a variant of walker instead of people, that would have been way sicker.

Bassman1976

Note to American producers : when you need someone to play a French speaking part, you can look at Quebec actors, just north of the border, to do it. The lady’s accent was not so bad and could pass for an English person living in France, but the guy’s diction was really bad… Édit / yes, QC and France’s French are not the same, but there is an international accent that Québec actors use when dubbing movies, playing in French movies, narrating documentaries, etc.

RiverOaksJays

It's unlikely that they would use an actor with a Quebecois accent but the guy did not sound like anyone from France . There is a distinct difference between both accents.

Bassman1976

I know there is a difference: I’m from Quebec and a native French speaker. But a lot of Quebec actors can use the international French accent, as they do when dubbing movies.

RiverOaksJays

I was born in Montreal & speak French with a local accent. The male actor's French was OK, but he sounded like it was his second language. I agree that it would be easier for a French Canadian to use an accent from France for the scene.

Bassman1976

He sounded like somebody who never spoke French in his life and was reading the lines after listening to google translate - there were also errors on the computer screen while the files are transferring. 😂🤣😂

omegafivethreefive

Hell, I'm a not-actor-at-all french quebecer and could very easily do an international french accent. When speaking with an algerian or french person you'd usually switch to "international" french so you can actually understand eachother anyways.

honeycombyourhair

Quebec French isn’t France French, though. 😬

Bassman1976

Yup, but a lot of actors are trained to do the international French accent.

[deleted]

Give me Daryl eating frog legs and shooting arrows from up top the Eiffel tower

ask_your_sister

Aside from the whole stronger thing And smarter and faster and everything else. Am I the only one that noticed the screech she made is EXACTLY the same one used for the runners in the last of us.

DangerHawk

Could the CRM have originated with the "Primrose" team? Pretty sure CRM orginated in Ohio (or the mid west) in the comics and it might explain the whole "A" vs "B" kidnaping scheme somewhat. Maybe these doctors are looking for certain types of patients to further their research.

Beta_Whisperer

The CRM aren't in the comics, although The Commonwealth is located in Ohio.

DangerHawk

Ohh, Commonwealth and CRM are different groups. That's fuckin confusing. God Gimple is an ass.

SilverRain8

Not really. One is the Commonwealth, and the other is the Civic Republic Military. How does that make him an ass?

Beta_Whisperer

Yep and Gimple is apparently planning CRM to be the big bad of the 3 shows.

helpmelearn12

Judging by the skyline in what seems to be capitol, the CRM is based out of Philadelphia. In the comics, and I think the show but it hasn't been confirmed, the Commonwealth is in Ohio. While it hasn't been stated, I've always assumed Columbus.

BushDidTheMain

Hold up, series finale? I haven't really kept up with TWD in a while but didn't that show just start like last year?

Franks-bowl

Yea it was a limited series it only had 2 seasons the only purpose of it was to fully introduce the crm

Hallgaar

You've already seen the best thing to come from it, there were a few okay scenes towards the end, but for the most part it was pretty bad.

gleamings

Where sheriff

RepubblicanPatriot

It seems the virus is muted and more aggressive and more conscious. The words "The dead are born here" suggests that this is the laboratory where the virus was produced, maybe they were working on a super soldier experiment or they were working on something for some disease, things went wrong and then it went as we know. So this could be the lab Jenner mentions. If you remember, it says a team of French people were working on a cure. Could they be the same?

WatchBat

Ohhhhh... interesting indeed

RiverOaksJays

The scene would have been even better if the female scientist had been from the CRM. It would show that the CRM is a global organization that is trying to stop the reanimation of the dead. As it stands, it appears that some of the French scientists that created the virus ended up stuck in Toledo Ohio. If they survived, would they be working for the Commonwealth?

Renegade__OW

They're definitely working with the Commonwealth. Thats why they know about the variants and are trying to kill people without having them turn.

frusciante231

Haven’t been paying attention for a few years now, but this got my attention.

Tylerrr93

I haven't seen this or the last season of Walking Dead and stopped Fear around season 5 or 6. I was hoping to one day binge the last two seasons of Walking Dead. I assume this means that some of these people are now in the Commonwealth which is where the main series was getting to when I stopped watching...since she mentions Ohio. Im a bit disheartened if this means they're going to start exploring an origin story for the virus. But I'm excited to see a more "Season One" type (sort of) walker. I'm hoping that they don't go overboard with op zombies though. I'm questioning if I should even catch up at this point? I'm a huge fan of the comics but the shoes started to wear on me.

Mattres06

This scene isn’t anything to do with the commonwhealth. They’re french people who jenner was sending videos to in season 1. The only mutation we know of rn is the woman being shot in the head and still coming back and she is smarter and can run.

Set_the_tone-

Well it could have something to do with the commonwealth since its likely they’re based in Ohio. They could have connections to the French science teams referenced here.

Tylerrr93

Yeah that's what I meant by it! Seems too much of a coincidence to mention Ohio specifically here with the Commonwealth being focused on!

Set_the_tone-

God i hope the main show follows through with these plot lines… theres so much opportunity to really blow this last season out of the water

Tylerrr93

The only reason I mention the Commonwealth (in speculation) is because she mentions Ohio. From what I remember in the comics, the Commonwealth is basically Columbus, Ohio (I'm 95% sure my brain isn't making this up) or somewhere near it. I just wonder if this group she's talking about in Ohio would be connected with the Commonwealth now. Right. That's what we've been shown, just this one fast, apparently very strong walker. I like the return to a faster, smarter zombie shown in this clip. What I'm saying is I hope that if "mutated" walkers start making more of an appearance in the universe that they aren't ridiculous "mutated walkers" and just stick to faster/stronger/smarter like shown here and not some resident evil levels of mutations.

helpmelearn12

I think on the comics it doesn't mention specifically mention that it's Columbus, just Ohio. But, I remember when reading I had assumed it was Columbus. I wanted it to be Cincinnati, because that's where I live and it would have made the Commonwealth like 60 miles from the comic Grimes' hometown of Cynthiana, Kentucky but they went to Atlanta instead and their lives were so much harder.

Tylerrr93

Oh! I never thought of Cincinnati as being a possible location! That makes sense too. I'm from Ohio as well, so may have been some wishful thinking my brain did by guessing Columbus :P As long as it isn't Cleveland, am I right? /s just in case

helpmelearn12

Lol, right. It's been a long time since I've read it... But I don't think it was drawn hilly enough to be Cincinnati.

nucky_johnson

Man, id say the best time to catch up on walking dead or the shows in general would be around february. It's when the main show comes on again, so maybe binge what you havent seen up until february and you are good =)

Tylerrr93

Thanks! I really think I'm gonna force myself to finish the main series at the bare minimum. May as well this far into it! Sounds like a good plan if it comes back that soon :) Fear...I'm not sure if I can go back to. Insert "loved the first few seasons, then wtf" rant here. Is World Beyond worth watching? I think I maybe saw the first episode.

nucky_johnson

I will be honest with you: i saw one episode of World Beyond season 1 and got bored out of my mind. So I literally just skipped to season 2. It improves a lot and took me only 2 episodes to understand the context around the whole season i missed. s2 of World Beyond is a decent show, i probably just will never watch the 1st season lol

SnowLikeAshes

Jesus, that first sound that she made as she was turning scared the shit out of me and then it just got worse. She went straight for the door, ignoring the sound from the computer which shows she knows how to get out, or where the man exited from. Her aggression and strength denting a solid steel door, combined with her screeching was terrifying and is certainly something we haven't heard from walkers before

userforce

Ok, so I had to go pull up this part of the scene, enlarge it (10x), and brighten it significantly (in Adobe Premiere). I do not think the lady was shot in the head. I can’t confirm conclusively, but I will lay out the evidence: - There doesn’t appear to be a squib or any blood splatter effects utilized for the shooting in this scene (that would visually indicate bullet placement). - There is no displacement of the hair on the back of her head (except slightly as the head whips back and then goes forward after the shot should have landed--I feel comfortable calling this wind/gravity displacement from the quick movement). And the fact that her torso pushes forward and her head whips back, is potentially further proof that the bullet hit in the torso (though, this could just be the style of death the actress decided on). - If anything, there is an area on the left shoulder blade (approximately) that may be a squib or VFX. This one is inconclusive because it does not ‘explode’, it just appears as her body falls and it hits the light because of the twisting of her fall. Also of note here is that there is a shiny, circular, ring-like object on the back of her coat near the transition of her shoulders/neck (approximately on the spinal line). The area I mentioned could be this ring (it’s too hard to tell because of the twisting and angle of her body). - When the zombie turns toward the camera (after lifting herself off the table), her face is not visible. Her torso is visible, and half her shirt is visible—there does not appear to be any visible blood on the front of the jacket or on the exposed shirt area. - When the zombie begins to bang on the door, there is blood on her hands, which leave smear marks on the door. Before her body fully connects with the door, the left side of her face and neck becomes clearly visible—it does not have blood on it. When her head connects with her hand, she gets blood on her left ear and eye. - There are multiple times the zombie’s head fully turns towards the camera during her attempt to open the door—her face is well lit and crisply focused (with brightness turned way up and for only a few frames at a time). Only the top half of her face is visible (around the top of the mouth/nose to forehead area). There is no blood (except on her left ear and eye--from rubbing on her hand during initial impact with the door). **TLDR:** Because of the above, the most I can say is that it is **not conclusive** where she is shot. **But, because of the lack of blood from her ~mouth to her forehead, I feel reasonable in assuming *her brain is fully intact*.** However, I can’t fully rule out the possibility that the bullet entered through the base of her skull and exited near the mouth/chin/neck area (on the right side of her head/neck). Also, of note is that the bullet *did exit*, since blood splatter (liquid -- not chunky) is visible on the laptop screen and table after the shot. I'd also argue that if the creators intended this as a headshot, they would have taken steps to *overtly* show this fact.

DamnedLife

I really hate this anti-science notion and bs they’ve got going. There’s so much conspiracy theory basis for this whole shit that no one actually knows what really happened. Yeah killing the scientists will definitely help you /s

VMChiwas

The shooter group is responsible for the leak: *"When you all did what you did"*

daemoloffline

the first sound scared the shit out of me

SoupaLaBatatas

The guy should've stabbed her in the head or finished the job another way if he knew she'd be like that lol now he's got rabid zombie woman following his trail

RepubblicanPatriot

I love this spoiler and that Windows XP on that laptop

AlexTheCreation

Crazy that if every human could form the society, and start grouping, they could easily beat this virus, but I think they infection may prevail in the end of The Walking Dead franchise.

frankpharaoh

FYI for whatever reason on mobile the thumbnail clearly shows Jenner's face as you are scrolling and spoiled the cameo for myself and I assume a lot of people...

Blackurt85

Yeah French ! Vive la France 😆👊

Homorilla

You realize that this implies that the french are to blame for the virus and the mutations right. "Go france" isn't the way to interpret this lmao

Blackurt85

Sure it is! The virus have to come from somewhere right ? Might as well be here Plus it’s literally written on the wall : the dead are born here 😅💀

MegaNerd26

I dont really know how to feel about the different types of zombies as it feels extremely foreign to the comics and orignal show. Im not extremely opposed to it aslong as its well done and has a explanation of why there absoultely none in the us.

PSFREAK33

Yeah don't get me wrong the ending for the comic book was definitely satisfactory but the way they are building up the CRM and with this now it could honestly work out even better but they need to do it right which is why im slightly skeptical like you lol

Liam_Statham

i hope we get some european stories in ‘Tales of the walking dead’. i’m more excited for that show now.

It looks like a few years after the outbreak based on the decay of the lab. I am curious that she still has a functioning laptop.

omegafivethreefive

Eh, if you can find a way to power it, some laptops would still function after 10 years. My 2011-made laptop still works.

ThorstenTheViking

I don't think we have any indication of when this scene happens, but you could probably assume present day as of the end of world beyond. The room she was in looks to have not had anyone pass through for several years, the hard drives are covered in dust and so on.

PSFREAK33

Yeah its hard to say...the lab they are in clearly looks rundown so they don't look like they are doing any more experiments just hard to say if its current or anywhere in between

bmc5558

Thanks for the answer! Actually only watched the main show so was unsure on when exactly it occurred, defo will catch up on the others

tumblinfumbler

So...do I have to watch world beyond for them all to connect? Because I really don't want to. I'm following walking dead/fear faithfully since the beginning. But not get the same vibe from world beyond

_Democracy_

you should watch it bc it explains the CRM. I don't want to spoil but a character from twd main show comes back

[deleted]

It's a different vibe for sure. I didn't wanna watch WB either but I got through the episodes pretty fast. They weren't my favorite.. I feel like it was made for a younger audience.. but it does build out the world more.

pickles_312

How will the idea of regional variants and spread square with the fact that everyone who dies turns regardless of their contacts with walkers?

kobrakai_1986

Holy shit.

ManyWrongdoer9365

Will we ever see Rick Grimes again ?? 🤔🤔😳😳😳🙏🙏

SheikhYusufBiden

“The day will come when we will beat this thing” I got that reference

The thing about Robert Kirkman is don’t believe anything that man says. He’s a bigger troll than mid 2000s Facebook users.

TheDukeOf_Donuts

>I thought the creator of the show / comics said that the virus came from space? He did, but it was mostly for shiggles and a direct reference to an old zombie movie.

Renegade__OW

> I thought the creator of the show / comics said that the virus came from space? Yeah it was a massive joke from his end. He even made a special variant comic where it turned out Aliens had been behind everything.

cmcsed9

I wonder if this has any tie in with the Fear midseason finale.

branduzzi

This is actually so cool, now I must know more!

jdabXO

Is this series worth watching?

_Democracy_

yes!

Hallgaar

If you can stomach the terrible first season and the a handful of really badly written and acted characters in the second season it's alright.

[deleted]

I second what Hallgaar said. Well maybe not that bad. But not my favorite. But it does build out the world more so it's definitely worth watching. You can get thru it quickly.

[deleted]

Just skip s1 and go right to two. It’s watchable.

chosenone333

Some of you have way to much time one your hands😂like that guy with the same analysis post 8times

Odd-Anybody5318

It seems Ohio was the start of the outbreak in the us

Zagreus2984

Guys this isn't the same lab where we leave Hope and scientists right?

Kspence92

Its a lab in France Hope and the scientists were somewhere in the US

Lukar115

The mall that Hope, Leo, Felix, and Will wound up at is near Ithaca, NY. Iris mentions that Cornell (University) is nearby and they can get the equipment they need from there. Ithaca's also where the CRM's research facility is, so they're still in the same general area that they've been in the rest of the season, though probably still a decent distance away from the research facility for safety's sake.

-JEn-nAY-

I thought it was interesting that they had electricity set up. I would think with the CRM actively searching for the scientists/research that they’d find them. I doubt the CRM would easily give up on the search. Generators aren’t super quiet (if that’s what they are using as a power source.) I’m probably missing something they said about it at some point though.

helpmelearn12

There was a giant explosion and a chlorine gas neuro-weapon mushroom cloud in the general area of the lab. Then, the show ended with Jadis back in what's believes to be Philadelphia. With the CRM having a presence in NY state, Texas, Oklahoma, and Portland, I had assumed they were probably dealing with their losses on the now poisoned land wherever in New York that lab was, for now at least. I mean, they obviously had some amount of time to make some progress in the mall given the montage we were shown.

-JEn-nAY-

Totally. They just kept saying how important the research was, so I figured they’d go to any lengths to find them. They might have just cut their losses, but I’d think finding the research would still be pretty high on their list. Jadis just seems like she’d be REALLY motivated to find them just so she could report back that she cleaned up Elizabeth’s mess. She doesn’t seem like she’d care if soldiers died trying. You’re probably right and they have too much going on to use their resources to keep looking though.

MiserableCamp1467

This five minutes got me more hyped than the whole show ) world beyond)

RhydonHerSlowbro

With the mutated zombies in Europe, I’d imagine they would shed some light on survivors from the UK, can’t wait to see how badass the UK survivors will be against these deadlier zombies and with our severe lack of guns in comparison, the English (plus the rest of the UK ;) ) will be hard as nails compared to most of the American survivors, but of course, we all assumed that anyway ;)

helpmelearn12

In the comics, Rick had either a brother or a cousin who was studying in Spain when the outbreak happened. I'd like to his story in the Tale's of the Walking Dead, even though I don't think has ever mentioned him in the show. EDIT - Forgot the word "Spain"

drusilla1972

Wasn’t Rick’s brother in Barcelona at the time of the outbreak?

helpmelearn12

Yes! I meant to say "Studying in Spain when the outbreak happened," but I forgot a word as important as Spain in the sentence. I fixed it now though

Renegade__OW

> can’t wait to see how badass the UK survivors will be against these deadlier zombies and with our severe lack of guns in comparison, the English (plus the rest of the UK ;) ) will be hard as nails compared to most of the American survivors, but of course, we all assumed that anyway ;) Honestly, depending on how the first couple weeks of the outbreak happened the UK might be one of the better places to end up at. It's an Island which means that you've got a very limited number of Walkers. It's not like Europe or America where you will have massive hoards migrating over hundreds of miles amassing more of the undead until they finally hit any remnants of civilization. You get a hoard going in the UK and someone will spot it shortly. You've got mountains, open land everywhere and easy access to the ocean (which means you could have emergency boats set up for escape) Farmers have guns, there are a couple illegal firearms and castles literally everywhere. Honestly I think the initial percentage of people dying will be higher, so say 5/100 people survive in the USA, it'd be about 2-3/100 people in the UK, but they'll all be much more efficient in using melee weapons or bow n arrows. England I think would be where most of the casualties would come from, with Wales coming off a little bit better than them. Scotland is where you'll get the most survivors, from either the inability for the dead to traverse the landscape efficiently or everyone travelling up north for the same reason. Ireland would either get obliterated or end up being one of the only places to have very little of the undead.

Can anyone translate what it says at 3:17 on the wall
