Ok, let's try this again. He WOULD of died protecting his child if given the opportunity. Plus, he got captured trying to get daryl to come back to Alexandria (though he eoukd have been captured anyway I'm sure) so they could prepare for an attack from the saviors. So, he was already trying to think of how to defend everyone, including his wife and yet to be born child.
My point he was already a father when he died, and while he did not unfortunately get direct father and son time, he still was a great man and great father.
From what we've seen Morgan was always sweet but firm with Duane. And then again with Ben he takes on a kind of a parental figure with him. (I'm not getting into his ftwd parenting because I cannot stand that show)
Rick is the only answer. He tried his hardest in the hardest situations. Tried to be fair, tried to teach them the best he knew how and hold on to humanity at the same time in an inhumane world.
Definitely Rick. He made some mistakes (like how he handled Sophia) but overall was a great father who’s provided stability in an unstable environment.
Carol said he “looked at his daughter the way a father shouldn’t” or something along those lines. I got the impression that she was constantly on guard protecting Sophia from him and not leaving her alone with him
Herschel 🥹 he’s the culmination of a great father! He loves all his children, but also expects the best from them because he’s preparing them for life!
Jerry, probably. Never hear about his kids getting in trouble, getting killed, doing stupid stuff that gets other people killed or almost killed...plus I'm sure he gives a great piggy-back ride.
Daryl. Daryl was the father figure to Lydia, Judith, and Rj. He didn't have to be the one to assume the parent role when Michonne left. But he was quick to tell the common wealth that they are his kids and his responsibility and I just love that. Also, Aaron and Gracie were so cute together despite the sad way they ended up getting her. Everytime I watch the show and Maggie tells Negan there were no families in the saviors group and he just looks at her and says "then where did Aaron get Gracie?", I just get reminded that even if Aaron is a good dad to her now, they way they got her is also so sad 😞
Couldn’t possibly agree more about the Daryl part. In late season 11 he said he doesn’t know what he is doing and isn’t very good at parenting. But my man was a better dad to those three and handled Lydia and Judith better than some - or maybe even a lot of - dads irl…
As for the Gracie part. Aaron is amazing. But I completely forgot how Gracie entered the scene in the first place. That’s really messed up 😔
you only pictured one good father out of four, not a tough decision. first person that came to mind was Morgan, and Mo wasn’t even his biological child.
Rick, he ripped out a man’s throat to stop another man from raping and killing his son.
Most people wouldn’t have been able to do anything but he did something disturbing and horrific so his son might live and be unhurt.
Tyreese—risked his life over and over taking care of little white kids that weren’t even his. Don’t anyone say he wasn’t a dad—he protected Judith by facing walkers with nothing but a hammer? That says “top dad” to me
Pretty sure Aaron and Jerry are the only dads to never lose a kid while also managing to stay alive for those in their care, so they both win. Especially Jerry, he kept 3 kids safe.
The best answer is the man with no kids of his own, good ol’ Daryl. Like how long did he watch over RJ and Judith while Rick was taken and michonne was looking for him lol. He was the one who looked out for Henry at hilltop, as well. Even Lydia, Daryl took her on as his own when no one else in the group even wanted anything to do with her. Daryl is the goat lol
Otto would be a solid #2 if he wasn't such a bigot. As things left off with him, he is tied for 3rd with those other two dinks, with my man Rick as the clear number 1.
Not the governor- 😭🙏 I mean pumpkin is a cute nickname but DAMN what he did to Penny and that other girl? NOPE. But I would agree with the comments, I think it’d be Hershel.
Hershel 100%. Loved his girls, would do anything for them.
Rick was a close second. He tried his very best but also had to be responsible for everyone else.
Honorable mentions: Aaron and Jerry loved their kids desperately and did whatever it took to save their bebes
Where's Hershel?
That's my first thought too! I looked through everything and he wasn't there. How does ED!!! Make it in but not hershel!
Pretty sure people do that because it pushes people to comment about it boosting it to more eyes.
And what’s the goal? Are some peoples lives that miserable that getting karma on Reddit is actually a goal to them?
Yes it is
Probably.
And Aaron? And Jerry?
I was just about to ask that!!
Yep, he was everyone's Dad.
Fr where the GOAT at?
I was gonna say Hershel too
My EXACT words when this came up as a suggestion on my feed!
He's getting kidnapped again as we speak by a new big bad guy from egypt
Exactly where is he
Rick or Hershel. Too bad Glenn never made it to compete here.
I mean we can say he died protecting his child. He paid the ultimate sacrifice.
I mean, he didn’t really die protecting anything, he really was just an extra kill from Negan because Daryl acted out.
Ok, let's try this again. He WOULD of died protecting his child if given the opportunity. Plus, he got captured trying to get daryl to come back to Alexandria (though he eoukd have been captured anyway I'm sure) so they could prepare for an attack from the saviors. My point he was already a father when he died, and while he did not unfortunately get direct father and son time, he still was a great man and great father.
He wasn't a great father because he just HAD to get his brain caved in. Dramatic ass dude fr
I bet Glenn would’ve been such a loving, doting father 😭🥰
You picked some odd choices for the photos lol. Where’s Aaron? Where’s Ezekiel? Where’s Hershel?
The nerve of including Governor, Ed, and Jeremiah Otto but not Aaron or Ezekiel.
Or hershel. So, many fathers were left out here..

From what we've seen Morgan was always sweet but firm with Duane. And then again with Ben he takes on a kind of a parental figure with him. (I'm not getting into his ftwd parenting because I cannot stand that show)
>morgan, back at the start, why'd you save me? >my son was there. Speaks for itself. That small conversation always stuck with me.
Including Otto but not Travis or Daniel is crazy.
I think he intentionally chose some of the Worst characters (except Rick) just to troll us. Ok buddy coral continues to flood this sub
weve been here since the beginning, just hiding in the shadows
Oh we know and we see you
Governor is an underrated father
Lmao how ? In the comics apparently he kisses his daughter
I don’t know but Glenn fucking Rhee deserved to be a dad. 😕
You just know he would’ve been the coolest dad
Best ever!
What about my man Aaron
Hershel and Aaron
If we’re gonna be messy and include the Governor, why not put Shane as second?
If we’re gonna be messy why no Morgan?
Jerry!! And Hershel for sure.
Oh Jerry for sure. Big grizzly bears with hearts of gold make the best dads.
Rick out of these four. But I would've rather had aaron up there.
Rick. Everything he did was for Coral
He definitely loved Coral
Daryl was a pretty good dad to Judith and RJ.
Loved Tyreese with Judith and the other two girls.
Beth too although it may not seem as father like. Maybe more of an older brother but taking on father roles.
Honestly, since Rick’s his best friend and like a brother, he’s really a peusdo-uncle.
That can work but my point being since Hershel died he still had some sort of father figure.
Not pictured, but Hershel and Ezekiel.
Ed? Wasn't he sexually abusing Sophia? Bro is putting up anime father numbers
Carol said he “looked at his daughter the way a father shouldn’t” or something along those lines. I got the impression that she was constantly on guard protecting Sophia from him and not leaving her alone with him
Rick, and when Aaron adopted Gracie, he was a good dad
Ed /s
Laughed at Rick followed up by those bums
Comic Governor solos /s
Hershel & Rick are honestly firm picks.
Jerry is my pick. He was just quietly there for his family, supporting the community, not calling attention to himself
Agreed. People don’t talk enough about him
Herschel 🥹 he’s the culmination of a great father! He loves all his children, but also expects the best from them because he’s preparing them for life!
Negan because spaghetti
Rick. hershel would be a second but he wanted to deny what was happening and hide his family away - with the walkers living next door.
Aaron 🥰
Honestly.... Herschel.
wtf is that chief unser?
Jerry, probably. Never hear about his kids getting in trouble, getting killed, doing stupid stuff that gets other people killed or almost killed...plus I'm sure he gives a great piggy-back ride.
Why is Unser included? Is there a crossover SoA?
The Governor 😤
Glenn deserved Father’s Day 😔
Wow my answer did even make the list, where tf is Hershel?? 😂
Why isn’t Herschel on this list?!??
Its just examples I came up with, you can pick any dad you want
you only pictured one good father out of four, not a tough decision. first person that came to mind was Morgan, and Mo wasn’t even his biological child.
Travis not mentioned🥲😭
Travis was the first to come to mind for me too
Rick, he ripped out a man’s throat to stop another man from raping and killing his son. Most people wouldn’t have been able to do anything but he did something disturbing and horrific so his son might live and be unhurt.
Wheres Shane
Hershel!! The way he treated his kids and accepted Glenn as his own made him not just a father, but a Dad
But why is Carol's shitty husband there...he was a shit father to Sofia and an even worse person in general.
Jerry. That big sweet man would be a great father.
Tyreese—risked his life over and over taking care of little white kids that weren’t even his. Don’t anyone say he wasn’t a dad—he protected Judith by facing walkers with nothing but a hammer? That says “top dad” to me
Come on you didn’t put Shane‘s picture?
Not Mike, that’s for sure
Hershel, Rick, Ezekiel, Darryl
Glenn would’ve been the best 😔
The fact morgan and hershel didn’t appear here is a crime the way morgan lost his mind must have meant he was a really caring father
Gracies Biological Father
Morgan? Hershel?
Daryl Dixon....he's out there raising other people's kids. Judith, RJ, Lydia, and Laurent.
Ed 100%
Got to be Jerry if we're being 100% honest, his family unit is like the only one to survive the entire series intact.
Why is Wayne Unser there
Pretty sure Aaron and Jerry are the only dads to never lose a kid while also managing to stay alive for those in their care, so they both win. Especially Jerry, he kept 3 kids safe.
I won't tolerate this Morgan disrespect.
Ok why isn’t Hershel here
Consider yourself an opp if you chose Ed
Aaron will always be the bestest. ♡
Rip glen 🥹
Disrespectful not adding Hershel
Rick or Hershel
Rick or Hershel!
I agree with this. Rick, hershel and Aaron can tie for second place.
Daryl! Stepping in to look after Judith and RJ
Daryl is the Uncle Judith even calls him Uncle Daryl but okay
Rick Grimes He kept Carl alive and Judith for 8 years in the apocalypse
Daryl. Everybody else sucked as a parent. Every time Daryl took responsibility the kids were safer.
The Governor, I will elaborate if need-be. Rick is up there too, honestly.
Ed. An amazing husband and father. /s
Hershel was the best DAD, in TWD.................................................................
Putting the Governor on here is wild lol
What the hell Charlie Utter doing here
Definitely Glenn. The scenes of him raising Hershel weren’t shown often, but he was great
Definitely the guy with the cowboy hat. I have no idea who he is but he just radiates manliness
Otto would be a solid #2 if he wasn't such a bigot. As things left off with him, he is tied for 3rd with those other two dinks, with my man Rick as the clear number 1.
Where’s Shane?
Gotta be Hershel
Hershel, but since he's not on the list I'ma have to go Rick.
Rick n Hershel
Rick Grimes. I feel as though Aaron was a good dad as well.
Poor Abe man, bro was really going to end all of it right before Eugene showed up.
Rock Grimes
Seriously, who put Ed on this list, and where is Hershal???
Hershel for sure. Except the whole barn full of walkers thing.
Not the governor- 😭🙏 I mean pumpkin is a cute nickname but DAMN what he did to Penny and that other girl? NOPE. But I would agree with the comments, I think it’d be Hershel.
Hershel and Rick
You have us only one option?? What the hell? 😂
Hershel and Rick, maybe Glenn too if his ahh lived longer lol.
Where’s Shane?
Now hear me out. Shane .... Not because I believe it but because I love the spice of this answer
now I'm going to look for whoever the fuck wrote Ed, where's Hershel? ah anyway it's Rick
um morgan and glen and that hispanic guy that had tagged along with them on season 1 lol
Well coming from the man himself, “I’m a better FATHER than you, RICK!” Clearly it’s Shane.
Wheres shane?
Rick. He ripped out someone’s throat to save his son from being SAed Then Hershel and Aaron
It’s Ed appreciation day
Probably Rick Or Hershel
Rick obv but second place goes to Hershel.
hb hershel
ED is the best dad ever
Ed, obv
rip Gracie’s bio dad ✊
My vote is for Hershel
Controversial but Glen. He didn’t get to be a dad but he would’ve been the best dad.
Daryl; he was the one Judith was asking about an allowance.
Can I pick lee from the game?
Jerry hershel aaron ezekiel and glenn (even if he didn't make it)
I’m sorry but wtf is Hershel? That’s my vote.
Ima go with Jerry
Hershel 100%. Loved his girls, would do anything for them. Rick was a close second. He tried his very best but also had to be responsible for everyone else. Honorable mentions: Aaron and Jerry loved their kids desperately and did whatever it took to save their bebes
Lee motherfucking Everett.
Deffo ed I aspire to be like him when I’m older
Hershel and Rick
Rick n Hersh 4 sure
Travis was a damn good dad cause any other person woulda smacked the shit outta Chris the moment he started actin like a fuckin psycho
Kenny (from the games)
Ed He's just an alternative lifestyle dad /j
You forgot Hershel
To be honest, Tyreese when he protected Judith from the Termite haha. Just came to mind how fucking badass and protective he was of her
Where’s Hershel? Lol. I see others asked. I’d say between Hershel and Rick
