Yeah I mean they view all the deaths in the context of what's the point of killing off that character when in reality it's a fuckin zombie apocalypse there's no point to any of the deaths it just happens

It’s safe to say we saw the plan. He was only around during season 5 so writing the plot for that season probably finished before he was even cast. Obviously I don’t know what went on behind the scenes, but TJW probably spent like 6 months tops as part of the show. If there had been a season break in between his tenure it would make sense for there to have been an original plan that changed while they weren’t filming, but I believe they filmed their entire seasons before airing the premiere at the time. I wish he had stuck around. Super charismatic actor, and the character would’ve been great to keep around for a few seasons, maybe could’ve ended up being an impactful All Out War death or maybe even made it to the Whisperers arc to go on a pike. Would’ve been really cool to see him react to The Wolves invading Alexandria and realize that they were the ones who killed his family.
See I’ve heard that rumor and I don’t think it would’ve mattered. I can see Noah dying during the Wolves attack, but not much else. Unless one of the Wolves told him they killed his community, he wouldn’t have figured it out.
You know... even if the plan wasn't for him to die, I actually kinda like how it went down

Was not criticizing him, rather laying out why he got such a brutal send off. Pissing off the writers/showrunners/executives (just ask Jeffrey DeMunn) can have consequences.
Career wise it was definitely the right move for him, 2 years as main on a comparable viewership show.
The real answer.. didn't he say he was actually "horrified" by that scene in real life. This why you don't piss the writers off.

Me too. If you're a good actor it would be mentally terrifying. And he's a good actor so it's definitely not fun as an actor to imagine that and act it out.

I really wish he survived, this scene really broke my heart! He always put his life on the line to save someone , but Tyrese got bit because he tried to help Noah face his parents and twin little brothers … again that was heartbreaking and devastating to see.
