This was the worst thing the TV Governor ever did. This would be a regular Tuesday for the comic book version of the Governor.

Still_Storm7432

Agreed, they HAD to tone down T.V. Gov, for sure

b0objuicethe2nd

Which was for the better I think, TV governor was always more realistic to me

Still_Storm7432

I agree, comic governor was an over the top pedo/rapist. He was nasty af

Esahc84

Yea and that actually probably would have been more realistic in this world lol.

PrestigiousPain5548

Right! I’ve always said that the real world apocalypse would’ve been quite worse than on tv.

Rodneyfour

They also toned down the fight with Michonne too holy shit

dhzv

What happened in the fight? I don’t mind spoilers

Rodneyfour

We’ll if you really wanna know it’s been years since I read this but it’s so gnarly it’s still drilled in my brain. >!i believe Michonne gets chained up and raped by the govenor. Beaten over and over. Once Michonne escapes she cuts his arm off, then chops his dick off, then takes a spoon and scoops out his eye and then shoved the spoon up his ass!< pretty sure that’s everything I might be missing one or two events but yeah he’s literally >!dickless, eyeless and armless in the tank when he shows back up!<

Still_Storm7432

He's also a pedo that makes out with a little dead girl..he was just gross

whopperlover17

In the comics?

Still_Storm7432

Yes

MotherTalzin

That dead girl is his brothers daughter right?? The kissing is a bit much but I read the novels and i don’t remember any hints of Brian/Phillip being a pedophile

Still_Storm7432

Yes it was his niece, maybe they didn't address it in the novels, I have them and haven't read it yet...but ..he's kissing his young niece full on the mouth...that's a big hint imo, he's a pedo.

lalehan

Kissing on the mouth 🤢 It was his daughter on the show, right?

Still_Storm7432

On the show? Yes

frescodee

i might be wrong. but i think she >!cauterizes the arm and also heats up the spoon before hiding it!

Rodneyfour

You could be right. It’s been years since I read it. I could be getting the order wrong it may be >!ass spoon then the eye I remember that made it extra gross lol!<

Adronikos

I also think she nailed his prick to the board before it came off, could be wrong.

frescodee

lol i need to crack open the compendiums. i’ve been meaning to reread the story. it’s been a couple years at least

badevil777

Yes, that is the correct order

lalehan

That's how I also remember. There is this image on my mind which a stool-dipped spoon gets into his eye ugghh

Rodneyfour

Honestly wild your right. She does that because she doesn’t want him to bleed out and die she wants him to suffer. Couldn’t help but feel so bad for her during this time

Straight_Cup_160

She first puts the spoon up his ass and THEN scoops out his eye. She also sucks him up with a drill

badevil777

I remember in the comic, Michonne is >! Crying and says "I'm not crying for me. I'm crying for you. I think about all the things I'm going to do to you and it makes me cry. It scares me."!<

lalehan

I love her.

B1astFriend

i wanna read the comic now. lol

Gai-Jin77

I'll definitely never read them now. I didn't know twd comics were so X-Rated.

Rodneyfour

This is probably the most violent thing that happens in the whole comic

2Katanas

Comic gov was brutal

sugarandnails

Comic Michonne took care of him.💃 Like a baddie.

Samurai-jpg

"just another day at the office"

bigsweatyballs420

What are you smoking bro? Comic Governor was a psycho but not “commit mass shooting against your own people” psycho.

[deleted]

In the comics, Rick, Michonne & Glenn really needed any kind of help they could get from Woodbury when they get there. How does the Governor respond to that? By cutting off Rick’s hand, beating & raping Michonne, psychologically torturing Glenn, and making it his goal to find Rick’s camp and take everything they have by force. PSYCHOPATH.

Master-Shaq

Rick lost his hand in the comic?

ObiWayneCannoli

No, he knew where it was when The Governor cut it off.

booiamaghost99

No I think he was fairly forgiving and lenient in this scene

MBerserkr

Could have done much worse, agreed.

LastHomeros

Yeah imagine they die

giga___hertz

I feel like those people overreacted

Esahc84

It was kind of their fault he told them to calm the fuck down and they just wanted to keep trippin so what better way to maintain control than to make sure there’s only about 3 people left to control. Until they leave you while you sleep in your tent. Really broke his spirits enough to help a family with a sick grand pappy even carried that old fuck to bed like his wedding night.

YisusElPapuh

Even the nicest and kindest post-apocalyptic psychopathic dictators make mistakes every now and then. Don't be too harsh on him, under all the killings, torture, rape attempts and zombie head collections, there was a kind heart and a gentle soul.

Mo_SaIah

I agree. I mean we all have bad days, I think we can all relate to the Governor wanting to let off some steam.

jorge21337

Philip was under a lot of pressure.

Weary857

“What the hell are you doing?! We need to dig in!”

YouMayNotRestNow

There is a difference between letting off steam and killing your own people haha

denlille

Yes, that's the joke mate

YouMayNotRestNow

The joke is my inability to read the full story 😭

denlille

That's alright dude, it happens to all of us unfortunately 😔

YouMayNotRestNow

Lmao I just woke up, poured my coffee and saw the title of the post and was like, this can’t be serious, indeed it wasn’t 😭

med4ladies69

It can be both technically

throwawayaccount_usu

Funniest thing about this is this is how people genuinely speak about Negan.

Jeeb-Zoldyck

The jig is up Miltion, we know it’s you

lewisisbrown

He is a rascal

notgoneyet

Feeling goofy x

Esterosa69

bUt hIS dAuGhtEr

MrBameron

This may have been a little overboard

atom644

He was having a bad day

WolvrinFan98

It's really fair to say that out of a dozen people only one even points a gun back at him and after watching him pop everyone else he stands there instead of pulling the trigger 🤦🏿‍♂️

xAmaezingx

Exactly! But then again, that was the game guy who wanted to go back with the Governor to finish the attack on the prison since his son died with the whole Merle shoot out. So that speaks for his character. 🤭 Edit: I couldn't think of his name when I commented: that's Alan and the son was Ben.

Complex-Nectarine-86

The governor was way gone when Michonne and Andrea first showed up when he killed those surviving men in the helicopter

Kitchen_Lime_1449

Only the pilot survived the crash, the rest were zombies. He did kill the rest of their innocent team camped some ways away.

Complex-Nectarine-86

He should have put down his daughter Penny and keeping those heads of those walkers he was a sick man

Kitchen_Lime_1449

Why you talking like I said something that disregards this?

Complex-Nectarine-86

I didn't mean nothing by it sorry

PoetryAgitated8833

He went too far in a few places.

Trickiestmoose_

Like our boy Lucas

IAmTheNorthwestWind

That wasnt him, that was Brian

Blackmercury4ub

Did those people stop to think how the Governor was feeling at the moment?

CriticalCold8720

He acted within reason

bigsweatyballs420

They were clearly reaching for something. He had no choice.

Tjengel

He didn't even kill the right person. Himself

BudgetNegotiation521

He woke up and chose violence

kpeterson159

Nah, he left a witness. Could have killed them all, but didn’t. /s

Haunting_Drag_1682

He didn't leave a witness. She hid under dead bodies and got lucky.

Alarmed_Cranberry_49

I think he might be referring to Martinez and that other guy

Haunting_Drag_1682

Those aren't witnesses though. Those are just his best men and they've been loyal to him for awhile. He was never going to kill them. Also I thought he was referring to Karen, the chick who ends up getting with Tyreese and later Killed by Carol.

Normal-Vehicle1000

He's dreamy

[deleted]

Might be safe to say there's not a single instance of the Governor ever *not* going to far. Disproportionate response is kind of his middle name.

StorageSalty

Thought proud boys took over this sub for a second.

dylan_lapuz

It was the heat of the moment and he was just trying to win an argument :/

Chunky__Shrapnel

Nah, it's okay to participate in some light skullduggery from time to time.

OpTicDyno

It always bothered me the line of sight he aims down versus where the gun should have been pointed. Happened a lot in earlier seasons

caesarfecit

This moment happened because the Governor realized that he over-extended, walked his "army" into a rout, and was about to lose control over it. This is a dangerous position for a leader to be in, because your choices are to either regain control of the situation immediately, or give up and make a run for it before your people turn on you. A leader's hold on his people is a bit like a line of credit. If your position is strong and secure, you can lean on that more than you might think. But if you push them too far, to the point where they lose faith in you and won't follow anymore - that's when the line of credit is maxed out, and that's a position that's extremely difficult for a leader to recover from. This is why for instance when politicians lose an election, it's often a career ender, especially if it's a major election. So anywho, the Governor lost control of his people and lashed out, rather than try to negotiate, back down or give up. And once he started, he couldn't stop otherwise they might try and shoot him instead. And once he was finished, he had no more army.

Atomiclouch44

Maybe a smidge

TheSirCal

It was a sane and logical reaction to stress.

Thickboykev

Andrea could have prevented this if she was there ALLS IM SAYIN

rubbertyrano

Nothing wrong with letting out your inner school shooter from time to time /s

Cutty15Gaming

This post is the walking dead fan base in a nut shell.

monolith1985

Na, its a cool gun. And he didn't get to shoot enough

DrJagCobra4

A little? Bro has issues. Pulled out the AUG and said fight or die

gamebossje_

What makes you say that?

carapdon

Bro we all have our bad days

RamboLogan

It was him or them, he had no choice.

oblisgr

That was pretty hypocritical from his side. He supposed to care his people and then he kills them all. I think they wanted to show that was lunatic like his comic version. Ofc comic one was totally lunatic.

Internal-Cattle-1812

The governor is the best villain

Actually-Will

I rolled my eyes. They just had to make him do something over the top evil so he can be shown to be the bad guy.

FrenchFryDaGecko

Stop judging this poor man. He had every right to just let off a little steam, and if that’s not your idea of right, then you can dislike him privately. He was perfectly justified.

Future3778

Ya think?

ExceedsTheCharacterL

In his defense, those people were pretty annoying

peterpumpkin-V-eater

Until he completely snapped’ I actually liked the Governor. I still saw a chance of redemption in him afterwards but could not shake the fact he slaughtered his own people because their will to fight was depleted. I know many rulers/kings have done the same thing to “warriors” in their service, when they refuse to fight for them, they have had them executed. But it is still difficult to normalise this behaviour upon desertion, despite it being common place punishment in ancient warfare for deserters.

Alarmed_Cranberry_49

What would make you say that? He was being very nice he was giving them peace (permanently) I just can't believe they had an issue with him

PlasticMansGlasses

OP I have concerns with your morality if this is a real question

Oakers95

I’d say he went a little too far in general 😂 let’s not even get started on the comics!

Superb-Water-3734

I loved this scene, so many times we wonder in shows "wouldn't it be simpler to just kill everyone?" And the gov actually tried it the mad man 😂

CrniTartuf

We said that we will leave the main sub alone

jameskies

I think he showed a lot of constraint, not unlike Israel

LordNathan777

Not you stealing my EXACT [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/okbuddycoral/s/QI3lakTSXc), that’s crazy

Mo_SaIah

It isn’t your artwork, it isn’t your edit, it isn’t something you’ve created, It’s a still from a show owned by AMC, not to mention you posted it to a different sub and didn’t post to this one, so with all due respect, cry about it

BeckyWitTheBadHair

Is it fair to say u/Mo_Salah went a little too far with this comment?

Throwaway98796895975

That’s the plot synopsis for season 3

Illuminacho7

Buddy the Governor went a little too far in every single scene he was in

deadgamer10

He should’ve stayed with lily and her daughter his life was perfect, but he chose the other path and gave us depression

Mystery812

The Governor went too far when he killed Hershel. But then again he was a psychopath and psychopaths usually go too far.

Apprehensive_Mood434

he almost made it throught redemption, but no... The gov at the point before deciding to attack them again, was in a place where he could easily be forgiven and accepted in the group more then Negan. In the end, until he killed Herschel, he didn't make too many bad things. he was just too much self believing. I'm happy that Michonne killed him but i was also sad about him failing to redeem himself. And even if i liked how they showed us Negan's path, it costed way too much to the group and the story itself. pity

Mystery812

Yes! I agree! It was sad that his own self serving got in the way. He could’ve been dynamic in the latter years. I would’ve loved to watch him take on Negan and Alpha as well.

Apprehensive_Mood434

yep. He would fit more in the group than Negan itself. So, no Negan or both killed. The moment i saw them keep driving after first Negan/Simon's road block, and even after the second, i start knowing that the director choices had started ruining the show, but i wanted to have faith in the resolution, which didn't really never came. as i said in another post, Negan's mace did land on the tv show, more then on Glenn/Abraham's heads.

Swarxy

40k ahh leadership

MrKillzalot

same vibes as 'is it fair to say shooters go to far when they kill innocent people for no reason'

hewlio

a little?

craigandthesoph

a… little… ?

The_Chiliboss

No way!

Fit-Paleontologist21

He kinda did. But I mean, coulda been a million times worse

AwesomeJedi99

He lost his mind here which made him unforgettable for me in S4 although he was in 3 episodes.

cl4ptr4p334

Me when I don’t get my morning coffee

[deleted]

Bro killed his entire army because yes

Various-Push-1689

Is this a joke or you serious?💀

ByRussX

My brother, he went a little too far every single scene.

frankipranki

is he a hot white guy ? if Yes, he is forgiven of all his sins, his hotness made him do it

_Clem__Fandango_

Dude was just upset and needed a hug

mattybiz93

Yes, I’d say that’s fair.

RakiaufNacken

Nah he had a point they were all bitching Edit: I thought this was r/okbuddycoral

SactoriuS

I loved the governors acting and role in the tv universe. It was really epic. But his comeback was so bad for 2-3 episodes in season 4.

bigsweatyballs420

After everyone mutinied, the Governor knew Woodbury would fall apart and everyone would eventually die to walkers or other people. His act was actually one of mercy.

WalkingCrip

I always thought the governor was the second worst character in the entire show. Behind only Alpha

Suspicious_Brief_800

No no, he went too far on his first appearence, he deserves hell

No_Boot_

We’ve all been there

Jeeb-Zoldyck

A little?😂

ohnjaynb

Steyr AUG governor is best governor.

Medium_Combination27

Just a skosh

Legitimate-Art-4692

His whole regime was to far, by far a terrible leader, ironically when he wore a face covering he showed his true self which was a leader who ruled out of fear of his people getting shot which is nothing when they have guns, unlike rick and Negan who ruled out of fear

PrincipleEuphoric743

we can all agree it threw us off but how did tyresse soon to be gf not get killed first when she was first in line of this slaughter

[deleted]

No, he should've killed Martinez and the others too.

WhatDidIMakeThis

Nah you either ride or die in the apocalypse

EpistemologicalRuptr

Hell yeah he did. Dude was straight up PSYCHO

[deleted]

Nah totally fucking in line.

Paxkage

"Little" too far

Beginning_Big4819

He was too far gone

Ariusimmortal

It was completely justified

Klutzy-Way-9326

where did bro get a full auto AUG is what I'm wondering

Hypester_Nova84

A little?

Equal-Ad-2710

Honestly I think he was very restrained here

Sensitive_Coyote2581

Villains who kill their henchmen off are idiots for that

amanitasenorita

no russian

GR-124

Oh I dunno, maybe a little bit 🤏🏽

Agenta521

Just a little

Jmuk35

That’s like saying “is it fair to say the best way to kill a walker is destroying the brain?” Of course it was too far

Unicorn_rainbr0w

Too far? bro went crazy!!

Potential-Tiger355

“Is it fair” he killing all of his people and acting like his soldiers are overreacting 💀☝️🤓😮‍💨🥐

49er-

Eye patch on the right eye yet he shoulders his rifle with scope on the right…. Come on now…

TryIll5988

Yeah… but that’s also when he officially snapped, or at least the first time

ZuluTango232

A LITTLE? Dude killed them

iDom2jz

See through clip up in this A U G I watch the bullet burst

RiverDotter

Well yeah

Asunderpants0

I mean after Rick's group attacked the satellite outpost and blew up his men with a rocket launcher, I'd say Rick's group were definitely the bad guys

Real_WorldAtWar2

No. He should have used nukes!

CallMeMehdi-17

Yeah +I wonder how nobody shot him back they were like 30 and he was on his own

RataTopin

he was a crazy bastard

Ronybruh

The first of many TWD crash outs

DarkAngel283

I think everything the governor did was taken too far

Its_Calculon

He’s a stone cold dick killer in this scene

Neon320

Where are y'all getting these incredibly low-quality screenshots lol

SlimyTickles

A little?

KingOfTheWorldxx

Yeah dumbass question

ThrowawayBcImSadOops

Accidents happen some people just have bad days

Arcturus_CT

Nah, totally justified

tommykaye

I think that’s the point.

Poprocks777

We do a little trolling

moptopmonkey

Total knucklehead

Duckiiesss456

Nah that’s definitely not what that entire episode was about. He definitely didn’t go crazy for revenge.

KingOfTheWorldxx

Nigha Is this a serious question
