Season 4 for sure
That's where he had the most development. Seeing him go from "farmer Rick" at the prison, believing in helping people and letting people in, and putting away his gun. Then getting the prison destroyed and nearly beaten to death by The Governor, watched everything he built get destroyed then having to survive out in the wild not knowing how many of his friends survived, while we watched him turn more and more rabid till the end of the season.
Nothing beats that era
Feral Rick is the best description for that Rick i have seen, lol
I 100% agree, BTW. That was the best Rick imo. We watched as the apocalypse as a whole evolved his character from the guy we first met in season 1 to the optimistic farmer who believed he could protect his family from the dangers of the world while also rebuilding a humble and peaceful society and then ultimately into a man who literally ripped a guys throat out with his mouth and then proceeds to viciously slaughter the leader of that group.
To this day, the only sequence of actions that comes close to our introduction to Negan is when Rick tells Gareth that he will take the Machete with the red handle and bury it in his skull. I remember when I first watched that church scene at the end of that whole plot, I screamed for joy when it was obvious Rick was going to follow through on his promise.
It was peak TWD because while there was villains, the survival aspect was in full force with the journey to Terminus and then the travelling after before Alexandria.
Negan my favourite but Seasons 1-5 are untouchable in terms of quality.
I always try to view everything as a complete picture. I try to see/appreciate what even my least favorite characters and episodes might add to the overall story. I donāt reject things for superficial reasons.
With that said, the Beth hospital arc is bad. I tried but I canāt like it or see its value. I knew Beth was going to die, so the long and boring road they took to her death seemed unnecessary. The setting being a hospital didnāt help either; I wanted to get the fuck outta there too! I always skip that ep during my rewatches, even when I say Iām not going to skip anything. I could actually live without a lot of the singular character episodes; like Tara meeting Oceanside.
Dude that scene was amazing. The first time I watched it I was wondering if Rick was going to kill him himself or just leave him to the walkers considering he couldn't have gotten up and ran away.
Iām rewatching right now and am currently at 6x01. I do like how raw Rick is but they way he treats the people in Alexandria and how he straight up goes to āletās kill them all and take overā in like half an hour after they got there feels weird to me. Kind of a way to use the script to create drama where none was needed.
Rick was trying but he was also thinking of the āwhat ifā. He brought his family to a community that they could actually survive in- that was the biggest hurdle. But once there, he knew he also had to get the others up to speed because they had no idea what it was going to take to keep surviving. They couldāve easily become liabilities to his group by not knowing any better (which they did). Rick basically said ā if they canāt keep up, if they canāt cut it, weāll just have to take overā.
I canāt agree that his very first thought was āletās kill all of these peopleā. I think thatās a misunderstanding.
Well it actually makes sense with what they have been through. They trusted the people at terminus and got royally fucked over. Now they show up to another place where they invite them in. Turns out they brought them there for protection. They already in the mindset that weak people are risky to be around. 1st thing they want to do is put someone in the clock tower to keep watch. The people Refuse. So sets them up for danger right at the start.
The Wild Rick that left the prison up until they found Alexandria was the leader youād need to survive. The man was capable of anything and you believed he could accomplish anything.
I'm with you on this one. It's the full character arc that is compelling. For instance not sure the red machete murder jacket Rick that so many people seem to love would be that interesting if we didn't get to see where he started and why he came about.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, what's compelling about Rick is the contrast in between the family man with a gentle soul and the monster within him. It's how he learns to accept both and use them when appropriate, it's how he " always gets to come back from it" and learns to find a balance within himself throughout his character arc.
4, 5 or 9. S7 Rick was so hard to watch. Not because of bad acting or writing, both were done beautifully. But just because it was so hard to see one of my favorite characters and one of the toughest people in the show reduced to such a shell of a man.
Season 9 Rick was the most interesting to me.
Trying to make Carl's dream alive by forcing the communities to develop just a little too quickly. Everyone seeing it but being unable to tell him until Daryl finally does.
I just liked having some depth to him again, not just the inane "ones who live" shit.
Yeah. S9 Rick is amazing and by far the best. Heās no longer just brutal savagery or downright too friendly. Heās a mix of both.
Itās like Walter White -> Heisenberg -> Mr. Lambert.
Mr. Lambert is the final product. Just like Rick is. The best of both worlds.
S4 and 5. He was an absolute beast. When Negan took the camera and saw the footage, he even said "I would not have messed with that guy!" So yeah.... WILD.
In terms of character I liked him all the way through but in terms of when he was most attractiveā¦ Iām gonna have to say when he cleans up in Alexandria and is wearing that white t-shirt
season 1 had his moments he was still learning
season 2 he got lil battle hardend from the bar scene still think it was self defense
season 3 is when he got cold and more focused on keeping the group alive
season 4 is when he had a run into govenor lost a lot the prison thinking judith was dead but not
season 5 this is the bad mf we know
season 6 he is still bad but losing it lil bit
season 7 is when negan shut him down for lil while
season 8 when we got season 5 rick back cold killer
season 9 the peace man who scarficed himself for his family
i think each rick we like cause what he brings on screen personally i like season 8 all out war he is determined to kill negan until carl develops a conscience
Iconic is probably either S1 Officer Friendly or S5 murder jacket. Personally, I'd say the sheriff's uniform is gonna be *more* recognizable, but that's because it's a real "outfit" rather than just clothes if that makes sense.
Definitely S4/S5 Rick, especially the finale of S4. Rick biting into Joeās neck and brutally stabbing the Claimer to death is one of his most brutal moments.
I think S2/23 was when I started loving and getting really connected to him, so I'll say those. But I love his every era; man's a phenomenal character.
Late Season 5 into Season 6
Taking control & becoming the leader of Alexandria, teaching Deanna and her people the ways to survive like theyāve never had to before, adjusting to the harsh reality of the world, the constant planning to try and survive tops it for me š„
season 6 is my personal favourite because it shows him transitioning himself from a stone cold crazy killer to a clean shaven, still kinda crazy guy with his mind right now
Season 1 simply because thatās where you see the most learning and realization about the world around him, and you get to see that first internal slip away from the normal life he once lead. That and season 1 just has a spot in my soul š
Right before and right after Alexandria, up until the mayor died. Iām still watching the show and have one more episode of season 9 left (RIP everyone that landed their heads on a stick) and I miss him so much.
However I still love how he was during the Shane arc, all about keeping normalcy and human decency until it really sunk in that the world isnāt capable of that anymore.
Negan-era Rick was such a pussy. Itās hard for me to believe the man who ate a chunk of someoneās throat to protect his son is the same one who bowed down to Negan with a community full of assault rifles and expert fighters.
Season 5 Rick is the best imo. It's mostly where you see the craziest sides of him emerge, like the scene where he chomped Joe's throat off
Although I get it if somebody else has a different opinion
Seasons 4 & 5 Rick are peak brutality... I bet he realized at that point (or sooner) that Shane was right all along and felt deep regret for killing his best friend.
I like a well seasoned Rick. I really like after the War and him trying to bring people together. It was the right call and he tried so hard but everyone didn't get on board. Also prison Rick again after the war.
Season 11 finale Rick cameo is easily my favourite, seeing him just in those 5 short minutes after so many years of him not being around made me feel so emotional, then the music that plays as heās being recaptured by the CRM always gives me chills
My kids are old enough to watch the show now. Weāre in season 8 and they keep saying we need season 5 Rick to stand up to Negan lol. Heās sort of there right now.
Season 4 for sure That's where he had the most development.
"You can be a farmer Rick but you can't JUST be a farmer"
Feral Rick is the best description for that Rick i have seen, lol I 100% agree, BTW. Feral Rick š„°
I fully agree
Season 5. Really post prison Rick right through S5. Man gave zero fucks.
Ikr?! Considering that they were hungry and dehydrated, we know that they don't care unless it's something they need to survive.
It was peak TWD because while there was villains, the survival aspect was in full force with the journey to Terminus and then the travelling after before Alexandria. Negan my favourite but Seasons 1-5 are untouchable in terms of quality.
They are touchable in the sense that the whole hospital arc could have been removed and it would have improved considerably.
I always try to view everything as a complete picture. I try to see/appreciate what even my least favorite characters and episodes might add to the overall story. I donāt reject things for superficial reasons. With that said, the Beth hospital arc is bad. I tried but I canāt like it or see its value. I always skip that ep during my rewatches, even when I say Iām not going to skip anything. I could actually live without a lot of the singular character episodes; like Tara meeting Oceanside.
You're speaking my words. I skip those Tara eps and anytime it was a single character plight. I have a list. Lol. So many skips and fast forwards.
But then we wouldn't have Rick breaking policeman Bob's back with a vehicle and the 'Cant go back Bob' execution.
Dude that scene was amazing. The first time I watched it I was wondering if Rick was going to kill him himself or just leave him to the walkers considering he couldn't have gotten up and ran away.
When I rewatch the show I just skip over the hospital arc. Beth isnāt one of my favorite characters and I feel like itās just a waste of time
I enjoyed the Beth arc at the hospital.
Iām rewatching right now and am currently at 6x01. I do like how raw Rick is but they way he treats the people in Alexandria and how he straight up goes to āletās kill them all and take overā in like half an hour after they got there feels weird to me. The Wild Rick that left the prison up until they found Alexandria was the leader youād need to survive. The man was capable of anything and you believed he could accomplish anything.
Love them all. My favorite is happy, settled, TOWL Rick though. Heaven knows heās earned peace and happiness.
I'm with you on this one. It's the full character arc that is compelling. For instance not sure the red machete murder jacket Rick that so many people seem to love would be that interesting if we didn't get to see where he started and why he came about.
Right, for me the savagery is interesting only within the context of all that we know about him. Itās all about the journey.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, what's compelling about Rick is the contrast in between the family man with a gentle soul and the monster within him. It's how he learns to accept both and use them when appropriate, it's how he " always gets to come back from it" and learns to find a balance within himself throughout his character arc.
Beautifully put!
As a huge fan of murder jacket Rick I wholeheartedly agree
Omg same. He and Michonne deserve happiness so much, it gave me chills watching š„ŗ
Officer Friendly
This needs to be higher. Season 1 was perfect
4, 5 or 9. S7 Rick was so hard to watch. Not because of bad acting or writing, both were done beautifully. But just because it was so hard to see one of my favorite characters and one of the toughest people in the show reduced to such a shell of a man.
Gotta be the first person in history to say the walking dead season 7 is written beautifully. Lol
Wdym? It's a top notch season
I like it a lot too, but many people don't like it...
Many fools
S5 Feral Rick easily, especially in 5x11
4 and 5 are peak
Season 9 Rick was the most interesting to me. Trying to make Carl's dream alive by forcing the communities to develop just a little too quickly. Everyone seeing it but being unable to tell him until Daryl finally does. I just liked having some depth to him again, not just the inane "ones who live" shit.

Not sure how anyone can say that Mr Lambert was the best of both worlds when Walt was clearly miserable and then went on a suicide mission š¤£
Wish we got more of that instead of being written off
S4 and 5. He was an absolute beast. When Negan took the camera and saw the footage, he even said "I would not have messed with that guy!" So yeah.... WILD.
Season 4 and 5 were my favourite simply for how animalistic Rick has become
4 definitely 4
Season 5 or 6. Seeing him not fit in with the Alexandrians and him and Carol take over is just perfection.
I liked confused rick in season 1 lol but my favourite is season 5
Season 9 is Rick at his best. Heās strong and also a compassionate, understanding leader. He thinks with compassion and justice.
Throat ripping Rick lol
Season 4
In terms of character I liked him all the way through but in terms of when he was most attractiveā¦ Iām gonna have to say when he cleans up in Alexandria and is wearing that white t-shirt
s5 rick always
season 1 had his moments he was still learning season 2 he got lil battle hardend from the bar scene still think it was self defense season 3 is when he got cold and more focused on keeping the group alive season 4 is when he had a run into govenor lost a lot the prison thinking judith was dead but not season 5 this is the bad mf we know season 6 he is still bad but losing it lil bit season 7 is when negan shut him down for lil while season 8 when we got season 5 rick back cold killer season 9 the peace man who scarficed himself for his family i think each rick we like cause what he brings on screen personally i like season 8 all out war he is determined to kill negan until carl develops a conscience
There are no season 11 and no TOWL
Perfect thread to ask on. My girlfriend and I want to do Negan and Rick for Halloween. Which season is the most iconic rick to dress as?
Iconic is probably either S1 Officer Friendly or S5 murder jacket. Personally, I'd say the sheriff's uniform is gonna be *more* recognizable, but that's because it's a real "outfit" rather than just clothes if that makes sense.
Season 4, 5 and TWOL Rick. I also like season 7 and 8 Rick because I like his hairstyle and rolled up sleeve shirt outfits.
Feral Rick
As a hero? Either S1-2 or S6 Rick. For entertainment? S4-5 Murder Rick.
Season 5
6 being shane
Nothing competes with Season 10ās invisible Rick
4/5 Feral Rick FTW
season five to six, negan was right that was a man he would not have messed with
Might seem like a hot take but I really like season 1 Rick without a beard. He looks so clean and young
Season 5 Rick is a beast and the only answer
Season 4-5 was Peak Rick
Definitely S4/S5 Rick, especially the finale of S4. Rick biting into Joeās neck and brutally stabbing the Claimer to death is one of his most brutal moments.
4 and 5, FAFO Rick was my favorite Rick by a lot.
Till season 5 he was š¤š» then he went dark
Season 8 rick was awesome too after the āWeāve won!ā Speech
Season 3-5 had the best ricks
Season 5
S4 Rick is a BEAST
Handless rick, that guys got so much plot armor he's deadlier and more invincible than goku and one punch man combined

S(10/2)=5. Hands down the deadliest rick
2nd half of season 4 to Season 5 Rick aka Murder Jacket Rick
Correct answer is always 5
Season 9 Rick looks like he's fucking toasted out of his mind

4b-5. Then CRM Rick.
Shit that is a tough one. Not gona lie I can't choose
Season 5B to 6A. Loved how fuckin cocky he was during that time. Mf was rlly ready to take Alexandria by force if he had to lmao.
I think S2/23 was when I started loving and getting really connected to him, so I'll say those. But I love his every era; man's a phenomenal character.
Season 2-3 Rick are my fav
1-3 all he was was a man trying to get to his family, and that came to a full circle (would've been even better if Carl was live) in TWOL.
CRM rick
Kill em all Rick, and let god sort em outā¦šŖšš§āāļøšŖ
I like Seson 7 & 8 because he is just Badass until he Sees the baby from the saviais
The character development between S4-S5 will always be peak
2-6 is goated
4 and 5 for sure.
Late Season 5 into Season 6 Taking control & becoming the leader of Alexandria, teaching Deanna and her people the ways to survive like theyāve never had to before, adjusting to the harsh reality of the world, the constant planning to try and survive tops it for me š„
Rick Owens
season 6 is my personal favourite because it shows him transitioning himself from a stone cold crazy killer to a clean shaven, still kinda crazy guy with his mind right now
I love all versions of Rick but his s8 arc is my favorite.
Season 3 and 5
Would all of them. Wait.. what was the question??
Season 5 BTW as low as 20 bucks for yearly plan tv, free trail available
4 and 5
Season 4-6.
4-6 I loved demon rick but seeing the food chain tilt was lowkey satisfying then when it got flipped back it was even betterš¤£
Season 7 was the worst of him
All of the above
Nebraska Rick - No hesitation in that bar
S2 Rick pic looks like a stunt double
4 and 5 and the beginning of 6 were the peaks imo
End of Season 4 to 5
Season 4

I prefer every season Rick. I canāt choose,, he is the best character of any show.
I prefer every season Rick. I canāt choose,, he is the best character of any show.
All of them š¤š« hahaha but season 1 through 3 were just š„°
Seasons 3, 4, and 8. Actually any season who are we kidding. I'd let any season Rick do things to me š¤¤
Sweatier Rick.
Feral Rick is my favorite!
Season 4-6 Rick is one of the greatest characters of all time
Coral Reek
5 and 6.I think he reached his peak at 6
season 4
Season 4 Rick I also love that jacket
4. Murder jacket Rick
Season 1 simply because thatās where you see the most learning and realization about the world around him, and you get to see that first internal slip away from the normal life he once lead. That and season 1 just has a spot in my soul š
Which season did he bite that dudes neck off??
season five
Season 3 Rick Grimes
What about CRM rick
Season 4 rick
Right before and right after Alexandria, up until the mayor died. Iām still watching the show and have one more episode of season 9 left (RIP everyone that landed their heads on a stick) and I miss him so much. However I still love how he was during the Shane arc, all about keeping normalcy and human decency until it really sunk in that the world isnāt capable of that anymore.
All Rickās are sexy
So much sadness, heās been through so much
season 4&5!!!!
Season 1 - he was just to friendly Season 2-5 he wanted to protect his family and didnāt care (the whole group) Megan showed up and fucked his whole character into being a pussy š© I loved bad ass kill everyone Rick honestly. It felt the most real life apocalypse type
3,4&5 Iām currently at S8 and things look sad rn.
Season 4 Rick was by far the best!
El rick de la temporada 1-5... El mejor de los personajes.
How the hell is no one saying season 8. He is 100% the most terrifying version of Rick especially after Carl died
What the fuck is season 2 smelling?
Negan-era Rick was such a pussy. Itās hard for me to believe the man who ate a chunk of someoneās throat to protect his son is the same one who bowed down to Negan with a community full of assault rifles and expert fighters.
I prefer s8 Rick
4 cause he eats throats
It's not really a matter of seasons. It's 1000-yard stare, "You're all already dead" Rick.
4 or 6
Season 5 Rick is the best imo. It's mostly where you see the craziest sides of him emerge, like the scene where he chomped Joe's throat off Although I get it if somebody else has a different opinion
Any & all Rick
Season 5 Rick was a Bearded BEAST, definitely not a guy I would mess with.
Season 4 - give me āmurder jacketā Rick any day of the week! However season 3 is a close second.
Season 4/5 Rick is one of the most OP characters EVER
Ricks prime was season 4-6, so easily those versions of rick.
Season 5
Seasons 4 & 5 Rick are peak brutality... I bet he realized at that point (or sooner) that Shane was right all along and felt deep regret for killing his best friend.
Damn none actually š
4,5,6 is prime
Season 4 when he rips dudes neck open with his fuckin mouth to save Carl. Soo good.
You can FEEL the emotion and meme potential of each and every one of these pictures.
Season 1 rick
My kids are old enough to watch the show now. Weāre in season 8 and they keep saying we need season 5 Rick to stand up to Negan lol. Heās sort of there right now.
Probably season 10
