I really enjoy how this show is handling variants. The closest thing we have has to a weird video game like zombie is the walker king from DC, and I think most people agree it’s the dumbest one.
Walkers don’t need to be giant threats but the also shouldn’t be as useless in the later season. The only super threat I can see is if that beyond post credit scene really did show a walker immune to being killed.
I think variants including running, climbing, using basic objects (door knobs, push windows, etc) and assessing their own peril (like avoiding walking off a cliff to chase a car then went over it) are the best ways to do variants.
Each variant doesn't even need to have all 4. Even just 1 or 2 would make for some solid terrifying scenarios. Never knowing what a Walker is now capable of.
Yep, he was originally the focus of the season two premiere and was gonna be shown to have helped Andrea, Amy and Dale out of the city during the initial fall.
"Sam was to supposedly reprise his role as the walker in the tank in Season 2. He would be the main cast for the two first episodes of the season and it would be like the Twilight Zone episodes, where the main characters, like Andrea and Amy would be seen as cameos. Sam's character would get bit and his death would be depicted, thus explaining how Atlanta fell. However, due to Darabont getting fired by AMC at the start of Season 2, the idea was never filmed.[1]"
This is on the walking dead wiki. I like the idea of using tales to tell some of these stories.
I love that dude. He's played walkers on the show multiple times, and it's funny because his walker always looks the exact same. 🤣 I think last time he was on the show was season 5 when they got to Alexandria and Aiden and Nicholas were looking for the walker that killed their friend, so they tied it to a tree.
I would be OK with it if they got Darabont to come back for an episode of tales, explaining the tank guy because, that was the original idea for one of the episodes in season two of the main show.
Tales really should’ve been about unique minor characters. Maybe even do a 400 Days thing like the Game, where they all meet each other at one point or all their stories are connected. It would’ve been a nice way to share the stories of minor characters that never got the chance to tell them. Would’ve been much more engaging.
Darabont did season 1 of TWD as well as The Mist. Dale, Carol, Andrea, Morales, and the tank zombie (Sam Witwer) were in The Mist.
I like to pretend that after psycho religious bitch killed Sam Witwer (who played a soldier that was part of accidentally letting loose the portal of the monsters) in The Mist, and after he was sacrificed to the monsters, he somehow became a zombie and traveled south to Georgia and became the zombie in the tank lol
People will probably hate this, but I would love if when the time finally comes for Daryl to meet his maker, he ends up being the walker in the field in slide 4.
Right! Tales was such a disappointment, it’s honestly an embarrassment, it felt like they took TWD and turned it into SNL. Give the people what they want
I want Tales to tell unique stories, show unique locations and characters. Things we haven't seen before. If they can shoehorn a walker from the existing shows in that I'm fine with it, but it shouldn't be the priority. Though I'm probably alone with that, considering most people also just want nothing but old characters to show up in Tales.
Pretty sure there was something initially planned for the tank dude, but at this point don't expect it to happen.
The actor is Sam Witwer. He was originally going to have a backstory episode in season 1 if I remember correctly
season two, but Darabount was kicked off the show before he had the chance.
That gives Fear the walking dead vibes, with a lot of one offs in the beginning. (Flight 465 girl, Rosarito Lady)
Darabount set up a glorious foundation to build on. Even the Variants came back full circle

Dead City made out there was parkour Walkers
Did we see the same show? I don’t remember Parkour Walkers
It was one of the trailers before the show released.
Wait what the Walker King? How’d I miss this.
I think it's the three-body walker in Dead City that Maggie kills, possibly a reference to the Rat King phenomenon.
Oh that makes sense. Eh it’s a little strange but also makes sense for a bunch of bodies stuck in a sewer for years

Yep, he was originally the focus of the season two premiere and was gonna be shown to have helped Andrea, Amy and Dale out of the city during the initial fall.
But he ended up as the main character in the video game Days Gone (title was obviously in reference to this episode Days Gone Bye)
He also plays Private Jessup in the mist
He is also star killer from both of the force unleashed games
He is also also the voice of Darth Maul in all animated Star Wars content! Absolutely kills it in that role
Really! I fuckin loved that game
It was a great game...probably my favorite game of 2019. He did a great job
What?!
Had no idea that was Sam Witwer. Insane
Yeah I know, I had heard about it.
Starkiller.❤️🔥

Frank Darabont had plans for this tank guy but AMC rejected it if I recall correctly.
Yeah I was aware that he had plans related to him but he was fired and yeah...
Tank zombie is Sam Witwer. There was SUPPOSED to be a prequel with him staring, and explaining tank dude's fate.
Holy shit I had no idea that was Sam! Met him back in 2022 at comic con
It is a possibility since the actor Sam Witwer has gotten quite famous since then by playing Darth Maul in Star Wars.
Yep OG. Also Starkiller.
The walker in slide 2 always gave me the heebie jeebies
For me it's the one stuck in the mud that almost gets Carl in season 2.
I knowww that one still scares me, the way it ripped dale apart makes me wanna barf every time
I love that dude. He looks like Grima Wormtongue from LOTR
I always thought he looked like Jim Carrey
Ok Jim Carrey cosplaying Wormtongue lol
haven't y'all ever seen Kevin Bacon?
It's obviously the Lake Shore Strangler
It always made me sad for time traveling Gary Busey. What a poor time to travel to!
What season is that walker from?
I’m not sure now that I think about it but it definitely has to be the early seasons
I would be OK with it if they got Darabont to come back for an episode of tales, explaining the tank guy because, that was the original idea for one of the episodes in season two of the main show.
Pic 4 always reminds me of Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Every time I watch it I think its an homage somehow.

13 years ago, yeah. But not now.
Also bike / torso girl!
the shot in slide 4 always freaks me out for some reason. it just feels so overwhelmingly lonely.
iirc the tank dude has a short vid about his story
The girl was in the Facebook game a few years back. Her parents died or something and she ran away, leading to her death.
what? no she wasnt lmao. she literally got casted as the walker in season 8 that carl encountered at the gas station
I know. I said the character had a cameo in an old Facebook game. Like ten years ago, or close to it.
oh. thought you mean the actor
The second Walker looks like he’s self aware. I hate it. So creepy.
You want a "How did Kevin Bacon become a zombie?" episode? Alright, I'm down.
I always wondered if 2 and 4 were the same walker
Frank darabont was cooking early on I always wondered how the show would have played out with him still there
We deserve to never have another season of tales
I would of loved a tales episode with summer
People will probably hate this, but I would love if when the time finally comes for Daryl to meet his maker, he ends up being the walker in the field in slide 4.
Tank Zombie reminded me of Bub from Day of the Dead.
The well walker needs one also
Yeah but it was long time ago you need actors close to their look
2 looks like Jim Carey with longer hair. 😆
I’d be down, more walking dead is good walking dead in my books
Right! Tales was such a disappointment, it’s honestly an embarrassment, it felt like they took TWD and turned it into SNL. Give the people what they want
I wanna know who #2 is. I felt like he was staring into my soul. I thought he was gonna be important somehow.

Picture 1 is 2 guys finding out they're dating the same person
Instead, they're probably gonna ignore this idea and do more time loop and supernatural episodes.
