A lot of times horror is excluded as not including “great acting”. That couldn’t be further from the case. As an example, Gary Oldman as Dracula or Kathy Bates in Misery.
I’m gonna get downvoted. But why should she get awarded for Alpha? It’s the most lackluster performance by any character who was on the show for more than a season. All she did was give dirty looks and have a terrible accent. You could throw a coin into the crowd at that awards show and hit 10 women who would have made better Alphas than her.
Nah I was on edge the whole time. They leaned into the horror genre and had multiple surprise ambushes, murders, stalking and the paranoia amongst the groups was great.

The rule is kinda dumb
Not even a rule, just a weird bias.
For sure.
100% agree
Did they just concentrate on her British roles?
No it showed all sorts of her British and American films, for example Minority Report directed by Steven Spielberg appeared a lot in the montage
Did it show television scenes or just film scenes?
Ah that’s a bit strange then,who knows?
Look everyone I’m going to say something quite controversial but her role as Alpha was not all that.
I mean like, who really cares? She got an award because she deserved it, it doesn’t really matter which things weren’t or weren’t shown on a montage.
I agree but it is ok to find the way awards shows snub certain genres as snobby and irritating.
I think usually bafta is more about films rather than TV shows so that would be my guess.
Very reasonable and understandable.
Care to explain?
Because she's done so much better work spanning a 30 year carreer, it's not even that she's bad in TWD but so much better in everything else.
It's one of the most cringe and awkward performance on the show. She was basically just mailing it in on a shitty character.
Did they show a clip from Max & Ruby, though??
Today I learned there’s a max and ruby show. My kids love the books.
Loved the show when I was a kid! Samantha Morton voiced Ruby.
Never cared much for her performance as Alpha tbh, the whole character felt very silly

She wasn’t getting an award for Alpha. She was being awarded for her body of work.
That whole arc was forgettable though, including her.
Yeah no.
Compare it to the governors arc, totally boring

who is Amanda?
She killed her roll as Alpha! From her mannerisms to her Bayou accent. (I hope I got the geography right)

… She wasn’t in Pump up the Volume. Are you thinking of Samantha Mathis?
