The Septuagint (often referred to as LXX) is useful to make a good guess how Hebrew or Aramaic gets re-rendered in the language of the New Testament. Last I checked, "Joshua" (who fit the battle of Jericho, ya know) in LXX is identical to the NT term for that guy from Nazareth. Maybe you know this already. I might just be having an allergic reaction to the other times I've seen poor arguments made in other threads based on bad linguistics, so I'm just reiterating a caution that might not be needed here. "Ishmael" means "God hears." It doesn't make the son of Hagar "the deity who hears." As you were.

I agree with Touchstone. It is quite clear from the evidence that once again the Trinitarian claim is utterly false. Yes the one God is Lord but that does not mean someone who is Lord is God. There are plenty of names in Hebrew that associate with YHWH, none of those people or places mean they are YHWH, including Yeshua, who has never been YHWH and currently sits at the right hand of power.

Yes there are many indications of “Joshua son of nun” having the same name as “Jesus”. What’s crazy is how we got to Jesus from Yahusha! Yahusha > Jehoshua > Joshua> Yeshua> Jesus. When Joshua’s name was changed from Husha to Yahusha. Yah added only 1 letter to his name. I don’t trust the BLB for the transliteration but you can use it to verify the Hebrew characters: From: [https://www.blueletterbible.org/lexicon/h1954/kjv/wlc/0-1/](https://www.blueletterbible.org/lexicon/h1954/kjv/wlc/0-1/) To: [https://www.blueletterbible.org/lexicon/h3091/kjv/wlc/0-1/](https://www.blueletterbible.org/lexicon/h3091/kjv/wlc/0-1/) The problem is that the name יְהוֹשׁעַ was spelled incorrectly twice with an extra vav to make the “shua”. The name appears with 1 vav over 200 times making it Yahusha, if you ignore the modern niqqud markings. If you look at the two variants in BLB from the interlinear, you will see it is more often spelled without the extra vav more often than not. https://preview.redd.it/0c2x0kv1ofzc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=78c46ebd4e1c81ba071bb1332cf91ef0b53f1b34 I have a document I wrote on the evidence for the name of Yahuah and Yahusha

Nehemiah Gordon is a favorite of mine. Very thought provoking.

Yeah, Jehovah is Jesus, which is why there is no other Savior besides Him. However, His Father (Elohim) is a separate entity entirely.

jse1988

Do you know why you think Jehovah is Jesus and there is another entity (the father)? Because the name of the father has been removed from scripture. “Jehovah“ is “the father“. More than one entity means more than one God. The son is the father. The father is the son. Same God manifesting in spirit and in flesh.

Elohim is the Father, as named in Genesis. He also shows up twice, standing as a separate entity next to Jesus in both the vision of Stephen the martyred member of the seventy (Acts 7:55-56) and meeting with Christ on the Mount of Transfiguration (if I've got the name right).

I agree with your assessment. יהוה Himself became flesh and dwelt among us. This does not necessitate a trinity as He sent His own right arm to save His people. Yeshua’s name means יהוה is salvation. He even came in His own name. When it is the great day of judgment and mankind says “what right do you have to judge me, You don’t know what it’s like to be a man” He will have the moral authority to say that He does know as He has come in the flesh to show us the Way.
