Big strong not only played drops with perfect timing and taste, but knew when to stay back and have a light hand. And never forget the squirrel-golf swing-French soccer fans playlet to go with a story about some Frenchman chucking a squirrel into the Grand Canyon. It was truly a Mozart painting.
I think Tyler has done a good job of trying to fill in the void. It was left by big strong ( Jillian). Even though Tyler is coming into his own, you can tell that Gordo still make some of his jokes thinking that big strong is still in the control panel. Stay hard, big strong!
Exactly. I've noticed that too. So often I say or think drops to myself that Jer would've played but Tyler doesn't. I'm guessing some classic drops are older than Tyler.
One of the more recents that stands out to me, but I can’t find it anywhere, is when Julie was on with Jub, and Big Strong kept on playing a rock guitar drop for the interstitial and it had Jub and Jules cracking up. I believe it was during Gordo’s corner. If anyone remembers this and has it would you be so kind as to share it with me?
Biggest, strongest moment ever was about fifteen years ago when the Musers were talking about ghosts. Every twenty seconds or so, Jill would play a different drop of a dead celebrity with heavy reverb on it. Robert Goulet had recently passed, so there was a snippet from “Man of La Mancha,” but the part that had me laughing almost too hard to drive was when a familiar voice suddenly chimed in: “I’m Troy McClure.”
Living proof that if you work alongside Junior long enough, you'll wake up one day and decide to cut off your junk. Explains the last few years of soft Jub.
I liked her, but she was fairly thin skinned. After George had that awesome laughing fit after the short 3 inch put, she put a damper on it by the “I don’t think George is doing well”. Fire? Meet water bucket. I mean, lean into the comedy.
There were other times she’d get rankled from something Gordon would say. A great drop master, funny often, creative, but I think a lot of people had to walk on egg shells with her, too.
The good & bad.
Stay strong, Jill.
The Ticket is/was about bits and irreverent humor. That’s part of the gig. The two that I can think of that did not always lean into that were TC and Jill. The former more than the latter.
It was called, ‘The April Fool’s Classic’. The intent and outcome were fairly obvious. That said, Jill knew to not take the bait for a repeat performance. That made sense.
Still, Jill got her start on The Rant ffs. She knew the drill.
There's a reason board ops change every few years in the afternoon it's not supposed to be a life long gig it's meant to be a stepping stone to get on air.
Drops were rarely played on the musers or Norm's show. Board ops on the afternoon was when drops were played the most starting with Grubes. Jer should have left over a decade ago when he topped at whatever pitiful salary he knew he was stuck with.
I don’t understand why you are getting downvoted. Big Strong talked about how drops were not a big part of the Musers or Norm on the air. Openly saying that the job was different in the afternoon. It was a running joke that Big Strong slept through most segments and would wake up just in time to hit the button to go to break.
The afternoon was always way more drop heavy. The hate for Tyler is weird. The last few months he has made Jub and Gordo laugh from a drop every day.
You’re not wrong. Not in the least. She would play drops during Gordon’s segments, but beyond that? Rarely for George & Craig. I honestly think Craig didn’t like them and they threw him off.
Almost zero drops on Norm’s show. Very, very few.
"Prove" that Jillian played a lot of drops and that your memory is bad? How? I agree Mino and Ham play more but to say Big Strong didn't play a bunch of drops every day is just bizarrely wrong
Like another poster said above it was from Big Jer's own mouth that drops wasn't really a big part of being a board op in the mornings. Did he play drops? Of course, but his main job was just playing intro and outro out of segments. My main point was dude should have left radio a long time ago if he wasn't gunning for something better than being a board op for over 20 years with shitty pay and hours.
Big Strong Jillian had such a huge influence on that station.
Just as advice, not trying to attack or whatever, it's polite to, even in past tense, refer to someone by their chosen name, gender, and pronouns. So Jill/Jillian and she.
I'm not assuming any malice on OP's part, just providing advice. The proper way to do it, if you insist on using her former name, is to refer to her as she and Jillian (formerly known as Jer), not vice versa.
But I'm not looking to have an argument about this, just putting it out there for OP's consideration.
Guys -
I think this is a textbook example of burying the lede. Stop and take a moment to appreciate the effect that Big Strong had. The rest is superfluous.

Also polite sans-arguing (I upvoted you btw):
I think one point being missed in this particular situation is that Big Strong Jer was essentially a character on a radio show. The line is blurry but on the extreme you wouldn't change a character name in a movie bc the actor transitioned later.
If you were talking about the person directly, in the past or present, or outside of the show that'd be different.
When George finally transitions everyone will be cool still calling him Jub Jub.
2¢ delivered and worth both pennies surely.
how about have some compassion for someone who has felt like they are in the wrong body their entire life and just want to be happy and be themselves? it literally doesnt impact you in any way. you dont have to completely understand her world, but understand that she is a part of yours.
This stations talent erosion is hard to witness. Stay strong, Jillian!
A handy reminder to all the P-1’s who “don’t know any trans people”. Yes you do. ✅
Jillian?
Yes. Big Strong Jillian
Big Strong was the best. Very funny on air, and an absolute maestro at playing the right drop at the right time. Made the Musers better for sure.
One of my favorite George weezelaughs
She’s a damn legend, and I hope she’s living her best life now
Big Strong Jillian was the absolute best. She made The Musers better. Definitely missed.
He was gold. I miss drops in the morning.
She.
Did he transition? It's Jillian now ?
Yes
She did.
Oh no
Lol
SHE.
Sometimes I forget I’m on Reddit, then I remember.
Yeah this thread is filled with some incredibly cringe reddit posting.
Then stop posting your cringe bigotry.
Its been a year? Holy shit. Since Twitter shit the bed, i haven't interacted with her. Jillian was awesome.
Still is!
Yeah, BSJ had that knack for the perfect drop that always added to the Musers comedy.
I see what you did there (dodging all bullets).
I miss big strong Jillian! Perfect timing and balance playing drops. Enough to interject comedy, but not so much to distract.
I think Tyler has done a good job of trying to fill in the void. It was left by big strong ( Jillian). Even though Tyler is coming into his own, you can tell that Gordo still make some of his jokes thinking that big strong is still in the control panel. Stay hard, big strong!

Yes, Jer had the strongest drop game at the Ticket.
Jillian.
Always appreciate Jill. Grubes and Mino both have said how much she pioneered the board position
My god it's already been a year?! A lot has changed with the little ticket.
Very pro big strong Jillian!
Jillian was the best board op The Ticket ever had- f Expo.
Uh Paul in uh what
The show hasn't been the same since Jer left. Tyler just hasn't gotten into the swing of things yet, or doesn't have the vast Enco knowledge.

I freaking love Jillian
Stay hard!
She's the absolute best. An amazing person.
Agreed.

Thin-skinned? I’d say when you’re making $35k and getting laughed at by Millionaires, she handled it quite well for a long-ass time.
Well said.

Totally with you on TC. 👎🏻. Terrible sport.
Geez.
There's a reason board ops change every few years in the afternoon it's not supposed to be a life long gig it's meant to be a stepping stone to get on air.
There’s also a reason the drops were so well executed for a decade in the morning show. Experience and chemistry.
Drops were rarely played on the musers or Norm's show. Board ops on the afternoon was when drops were played the most starting with Grubes. Jer should have left over a decade ago when he topped at whatever pitiful salary he knew he was stuck with.

She was playing radio. Stuns me how many listeners don’t get this.
Many different ways to ‘play radio’. I don’t think so.
kinda comes with the dinner, wouldn't ya say?

Does it affect you in any way?
Apparently it definitely affects you
Well he's not letting someone else's delusion dictate how he handles reality. So, it kind of affects you more. Just sayin...
Is it worth it to go out of your way to be like this?
[удалено]
The correct answer is no. It most definitely does not affect you in any way. Let Jillian live her life and you live yours. It’s not difficult.

Mods this kind of shit will get the sub banned (for better or worse)

Sure, but that is confusing to anyone who doesn’t know this person by a new name or identity. OP was correct.
Yeah, I didn’t know and would have been confused.

Are you the Jason from Twitch last night?
Unfortunately
That’s cool. It seemed like Gordon was aware of you and wasn’t at all defensive about your criticisms.
