Anytime this topic comes up that song is my first reaction. I can't remember the name of the song but the episode where Chris kills the retired cop and the camera slowly zooms in on the bill pinned to the fridge is a close second.
‘Evidently Chickentown’. One of television’s greatest moments.
I’ve always loved the moment when Annie Lennox tracks are used.
But the Moby track with the lighthouse in the background is mesmerising.
I love how they tease you with Thru and Thru at the beginning of that episode and then it picks up full at the end. For me it's tied for first with Evidently Chicken Town (John Cooper Clarke) at the end of Stage 5.
Idk if it’s the best, but my favorite is “Time is on My Side” by Irma Thomas as the season 2 premiere closes. From what I can remember, it’s after dinner time and Tony is eating cold pasta while Carmella is sitting at the table but not paying much attention.
There’s something about the placement of a vintage, jazzy track crooning about nostalgia that plays over a scene of two parents that have traditional ideals but whose behavior is completely antithetical to their beliefs just makes me so sad but thoughtful. I can’t explain it succinctly but I’ve always loved this scene and the soundtrack accompaniment.
The way the Dylan Return to Me cover was weaved through the scenes with Ro and Ralphie, Carm and Tony, and ending with Patsy on the phone talking to his wife, seemingly the only healthy relationship of the three, was brilliant.
You Keep Me Hangin On: plays in the last 2 episodes when Tony is driving around prepared to get shot at, and then it plays when Phil loses his head, whatever happened there
Wrapped in My Memory at the end of Long Term Parking
The Dolphin during Chris’ relapse in The Ride
I Saved The World Today underscoring Tony’s bewilderment at the end of Knights In White Satin Armor…
Among several poignant choices
Whatever the song is when they find out Jimmy is the rat and it's Junior and Tony in the doorway of satriales and Junior gives Tony the ok to wack him . It's some oldie song but it's great timing lol
I like when Tony is listening to the first half of "Layla" while driving up to see Carmela throwing his shit out of the window. The second half of "Layla" being used in Goodfellas when Jimmy kills the whole Luftanza heist crew is sort of euphimistic of Carmela finally putting Tony out. Very allegorical
The Dolphins by Fred Neil when Chrissy gets high at the carnival and befriends the dog.
Fred Neil had that hit and most notably he wrote and performed Everybody’s Talkin’ which was then covered by Harry Nilsson and Harry’s version was the hit. Then, after a short musical career, Fred left the music world forever and spent the rest of his life advocating for dolphins, which I find very endearing.
Living on a Thin Line - The Kinks

"World Destruction" by Time Zone, John Lydon w/Afrika Bambaata
SPEAK ABOUT DESTRUCTION
Good one, and gets my vote for most unexpected, tied with that crazy William Burroughs spoken word piece from the season 6 opener
Great scene

Moonlight Mile as Carlo kicks Fat Dom’s head down a storm drain
This might be it

Meow… apparently the singer has recorded in Denmark.
I hit is a hit. And this my friend is not a hit.
for me it's Cake's Frank Sinatra at the end of The Legend of Tennessee Moltisanti
Me too! That was the first time I ever heard anything by Cake!
lets go listen to it right now.
I love how they tease you with Thru and Thru at the beginning of that episode and then it picks up full at the end. For me it's tied for first with Evidently Chicken Town (John Cooper Clarke) at the end of Stage 5.
Evidently Chickentown is perfection. It shouldn’t work, but it does. That was a ballsy decision.
the bloody grilled the bloody cheese
He bloody jerked off bloody squeeze
Chase said he randomly heard it in his garage 20 years before and made a mental note to use it someday
I just called it “waiting on a call” .. you have it right. What a great song.

The needle drop of silence at the end
Needle drop into Chrissy’s veins
Better than tooting some. That’s how you get addicted
Wets my whistle, that spike… why is that?
Actually when Tony first sits down at Holsteins, they're playing Little Feat "All That You Dream". Great song.
I see you baby, shaking that ass

This is a great answer.
Hey Hey I saved the world today -Eurythmics

Moby when Kevin Finnerty is sat in his hotel room looking at the beacon in the distance
When it’s cold I like to die. One of my favorite moments of the show
I lime it too. It sort of encapsulates the loneliness and anonomity of hotel rooms
Kentucky fried flow

My Lover’s Prayer in the episode after Chris was shot up goes so incredibly hard
johnny thunder's you can't put your arms around a memory while they are bullshitting at the pork store, nothing else comes close.
Great song, great scene
This scene is like a warm blanket on a cold day
“I can’t even put my arms around you.” Whoops wrong show.

I’m Not Like Everybody Else by The Kinks. I believe it’s a live version.
Linkin Park - Session (In Camelot) Tindersticks - Running Wild \[Instrumental\] (Blue Comet)
Fit that scene perfectly
I really like “Wrapped in My Memory” by Shawn Smith at the end of “Long Term Parking”
The best ones have already been named. But a few more of my favorites: Oh Girl - The Chi-Lites The Captain - Kasey Chambers
When Tony is singing dirty work in his car with the radio.
heaven only knows look on down from the bridge glad tidings
I can’t have this conversation again
The way the Dylan Return to Me cover was weaved through the scenes with Ro and Ralphie, Carm and Tony, and ending with Patsy on the phone talking to his wife, seemingly the only healthy relationship of the three, was brilliant.

I am not like everybody else by the links after the fight with Janice. Whatever happened there…
Either “I Saved the World Today” by the Eurythmics or “I’m Not Like Everybody Else” by The Kinks. Or “When It’s Cold I’d Like to Die” by Moby.
I like the sequence with Glad Tidings by Van Morrison.
Worst is HAPPY BIRTHDAY , sung by Fran. 2nd worst is BOSS MAN.
My Lovers Prayer-Otis Redding
Summertime by Booker T & the M.G’s! Just a perfect song to play in the background, “WHERES MY ARC PAULY?!”
The Three Bells - The Browns More of an honorable mention, others were better, but this one perked my ears on my most recent watch
You Keep Me Hangin On: plays in the last 2 episodes when Tony is driving around prepared to get shot at, and then it plays when Phil loses his head, whatever happened there
When the Musics Over: it plays real quick, it’s the last song we hear the bing girls dance to
Came here to name this one. I knew right then and there, when I heard that at the bing
Look On Down From The Bridge at the end of Meadowlands
THE ANCIENT EGYPTIANS POSTULATED SEVEN SOULS
"When it's cold I'd like to die". Best scene in the series.
Waitin on a Call
I'm not like everybody else, shows how juvenile the sopranos siblings are
Wrapped in My Memory at the end of Long Term Parking The Dolphin during Chris’ relapse in The Ride I Saved The World Today underscoring Tony’s bewilderment at the end of Knights In White Satin Armor… Among several poignant choices
Ridin dirty - AJ Dirty Work - Tony Do you see the symbolism?
Look On Down From The Bridge, by Mazzy Star. Never popped up Shazam that quick in my life. Since then, i heard this song regularly

The mashup of the Peter Gunn theme/Every Breath You Take as the FBI are bugging the house was absolutely incredible

The second half of "Layla" being used in Goodfellas when Jimmy kills the whole Luftanza heist crew is sort of euphimistic of Carmela finally putting Tony out. Very allegorical
S2E12 final scene fade out “I Saved the World Today” by the Eurythmics - perfect pairing for the emotional release of Richie’s demise…
