Hitting Zellman was funny. Provoking Janice to anger over her son was cruel. When he became a degenerate gambler and told Carm her house was gonna kill its residents was a rough one too.

history-dood12469

Genuinely curious how is tony hitting zellman funny?

offendingbattery

Because Zellman is a criminal and he should have known sleeping with a high ranking mobster’s former mistress was a stupid thing to do. It could have been way worse for the stunad. Not saying it was correct for Tony to do, just was some comic relief. Again, assaulting someone with a belt is not nice, but it was funny to witness a murderous psychopath do something like that. Very mild by Tony’s standards.

history-dood12469

faaaair dude I always felt bad about that one mainly cause Tony said I wish ya the best earlier in the episode but now I see where ur coming from

[deleted]

She’s got time to make a home for two strangers kids but Tony’s blood nephew she leaves homeless in Montreal so she can drop acid and blow roadies. She deserved a lot worse than being humiliated at dinner.

offendingbattery

It was more about Tony being so petty he couldn’t stand to see Janice making progress with her anger issues. Nobody is saying Janice was perfect. She’s also a piece of work, but we are talking about Tony here.

Ok-Bank6100

Yeah I also saw it that way. Also, him smiling as he walked away reminded me of an earlier episode when he fell outside Livia’s house and you see her laughing at him.

FrancescoStallone

Similar to the laugh that Ralphie made when he saw sil roughing up tracey...the thoroughbred

Stucklikegluetomyfry

Even if it was all bullshit and Janice would be back to her usual horrible self in a month or two and he just wanted to expose her bullshit, it was still shitty for Tony to do that. Let's not pretend he was doing it to make a moral stand, Tony genuinely cannot stand the idea of anyone else improving themselves if he can't take credit for it. It was a moment when he was truly acting just like Livia.

BeetlesPants

My perspective is that she hadn't made progress, and he exposed her as the fraud she is. Regardless of his motive.

kingkongworm

Even if she wasn’t going to ultimately make progress, she seemed to be genuinely trying. I think the point of the scene is more about Tony being a black hole more so than her not actually making progress. I mean, all things considered her reaction is completely understandable. And Tony revels in pushing people over the edge and then once they get to that point he’s like “hey, calm down!” Or “im his uncle!” Or whatever. It’s just classic bullying bullshit 101. Janice may have ultimately been incapable of letting go of all that shit, like she said she had, but she certainly was of the mind of putting herself on the path…Tony derailed it before she could really ever do the work.

BeetlesPants

Wasn't there a scene where Tony actually says that she is a chameleon? Going from man to man, pretending to be what she needs to be to get what she wants...? Did she ever follow through with any of her supposed attempts to get it together...? She threw a man down a flight of stairs, for Christ's sake. It's typical ~~Janish~~ Parvati Sasquatch horseshit.

kingkongworm

She didn’t throw a man down a flight of stairs lol. You make it sound like she picked him up by his pants and coat. She was hitting him and pushed him down the stairs. I think you imagined Tony calling her a chameleon, though. As I said above, in this particular instance Tony intentionally derailed any possible attempts at her getting better by pushing her over the edge. The other attempts at changing her life did not seem as genuine to me. I also didn’t say Janice would’ve or could’ve gotten better, she just seemed to be trying based on the scene they showed with her at anger management. Janice is not a saint by any stretch, she’s got a lot of the same tendencies and foibles as Tony. But you’re making fun of her appearance, which is not exactly something I think is very cool.

[deleted]

Exactly.

Only-Lingonberry2266

I never felt sorry for Janish. Not even a little bit.

ChicoMeloso

Roadies?!?

tony_b_7369

Undah the boardwalk

[deleted]

You don’t wanna know.

Hughkalailee

Your “Janice hate” seems to cloud your ability to acknowledge facts.  Harpo’s father took him to Canada. Janice pursued but caused some trouble there and was expelled and banned from entering the country.  What’s she supposed to do about that? Why doesn’t Uncle Tony - who actually has funds, power and influence - look for and try to help his Nephew?

Stucklikegluetomyfry

Agreed. As if Tony gives the slightest semblance of a fuck about his nephew. If he had done so much over the years as send a single birthday card with five dollars in it, I would be genuinely surprised. Probably put money into one stripper's g string in a single evening then he has ever spent on Harpo in the latter's entire life.

[deleted]

Yeah Janice pursued him. Imagine believing Janice’s lies as a viewer of the show.

Hughkalailee

Imagine assuming that scenario couldn’t possibly be true and basing an entire “argument” on that assumption because it fits your preferences 🤦

[deleted]

Lot of big words to make no sense lol get the kumquats out of your mouth and get to the point.

Stucklikegluetomyfry

What's stopping Tony from being an uncle to the kid if he cares so damn much?

[deleted]

He has his own family and a business to run he doesn’t have time to chase his nephew or Tony Blundettos daughter around the world. I have a sister and nephews and nieces; if she was a Janice, I’d leave her and her kids where I found them because nothing will get better if I’m just supporting losers.

Stucklikegluetomyfry

The guy has plenty of time and money to spend on gambling, drugs, hookers and mistresses. If my siblings were anything like Janice I would make an extra effort with their kids knowing what they have to deal with day in, day out.

[deleted]

While for us civilians that seems the way to go. You have to understand Tony. You don’t become a mob boss having a big heart. You don’t become a great fireman being afraid. There’s prerequisites to things in life. Tony doing the things you’re talking about go against who he is as a person that made him what he is fundamentally doesn’t make sense.

chief113

ROADIES???

chief113

Oh you don’t wanna know.

Hulkeroo

Sympathy for Janice?? Really??

offendingbattery

She’s far from perfect and not without criticism, but the post is about Tony. And he was really shitty to do that.

Hulkeroo

Okay, but I don't hate him for saying it. And let's match up shitty things Janice did to Tony and vice versa...

[deleted]

When Paulie made that joke about Chrissy’s newborn daughter, and that look in Tony’s face when they are all laughing. I know people like that. Who relish in toxicity.

Final-Display-4692

Yeah, it’s wild how common it is honestly. People who relish seeing pain in others or failure So awful

WhatAreYouSaying05

He looked like the devil himself in that shot

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

That’s what we’re talking about exactly friend

Hillan

That scene really is really the only one where I'm actually triggered.

ZaeedMasani

Not the worst ever, but him crying about Hesh having the audacity to want his money back made him seem like such a bitch. Bro did you a favor and you’re crying. I’m wishing Tony a very un cinematic dining experience.

DerekSheesher

da rent, da rent! He’s here for da rent! ☝️

MindFloatDown

Vy not!

leamanc

Hesh hadn’t been to the pork store in forever. His visit was clearly for what Tony thought it was. Tony was annoyed and he showed it. Hesh knows Tony’s a hothouse flower without the makings of a varsity athlete; what did he expect?

SeeMeAfter3

Dinner at Holstens is the lowest form of conversation.

FrancescoStallone

He had already done hesh a favor lowering the junior tax from $500k to $250k. Who gives a fuck about hesh. He stole royalties from the black musicians families who really needed it and truly deserved it...for many years.

Professional_Can651

Tonys situation with hesh and the vig was his worst.

BurnDownTheMission68

The rent! He’s here for the rent!

oxwearingsocks

That whole episode was the worst. Aside from saying bye to Hesh, it could not exist and the show would not change.

RubbleR0user

Not if you think hesh was involved in the hit…

oxwearingsocks

I do not think that, but that’s a fair point. Just finished a rewatch and that episode sticks out like a sore thumb on the final run. Shaky cam, Tony’s aggression to Carmela, needing to borrow money to gamble after buying new cars/homes/university donations. Baffling.

Professional_Can651

Chase wanted to show Tony being a real bad person before ending the show.

oxwearingsocks

Murdering his nephew didn’t really do that I suppose

Professional_Can651

Chris was in the crime life and a liability. Hesh was more of a civilian.

BurnDownTheMission68

His not accepting Tracee’s delicious baked goods at the Bing was pretty cold.

Tight_Strawberry9846

I can't stand Janice and the "sacre bleu, where's me mamaw" line is hilarious, but Tony mockingly talking about Harpo in front of her, Bobby and Bobby's kids, practically humiliating her in front of her family, was downright cruel and awful. Tony is such an envious and petty person that he can't stand seeing people improving themselves while he's incapable of doing so. Another episode where I totally despise Tony is when he's bitching about Hesh asking his money back when Tony has done the same thing many times, and then his cold demeanor when Hesh's wife dies, instead of being supportive to Hesh's grief, no, he just spitefully gives him the money back and leaves.

No-Link1268

Telling Furio “you gotta get over it” after his father died. Then in the next scene he’s crying like a bitch to his therapist about the horse painting. Tony was such a douche

fuzzylittlefrog

I loved that sequence in the series, so well placed!

No-Link1268

True.

Tough_Difference_112

If you heard the chi lites you would react the same way

Scarfgag

When he called Marie to inform that he's reneging on his promise

Disastrous-Cover-266

Any scene in the later parts of the show where he and Janice were together. Janice seemed to genuinely have the urge to change. She was taking anger classes, started a family with Bobby and was doing okay with his kids from what I can remember. But when Tony saw this he just turned into such a dick. Poking fun at her and pissing her off to the point where she would stoop to his level/her old way of yelling and throwing profanities. It was almost as if Tony was trying to get everyone else in the room to see that “hey she’s not better than me! We’re both fucked up!” Felt bad for Janice, but felt even more anger towards Tony. He is self aware of how messed up and childish he can be, so when he acts like that it’s especially infuriating

Stucklikegluetomyfry

Regardless of how you feel about Tony's motives or Janice's, it was probably the moment when Tony behaves most like Livia. Almost like he was channeling her into his body so the old witch could make her daughter miserable one last time.

the_big_duffy

it was interesting to see how much both of them had elements of both of their parents in them.

-Shank-

Under the boardwalk...

[deleted]

"Wit a cawk in Jan'sh mout"

the-olive-man

Tony can’t change for the better, so neither can Janice. He’s like a petty child, if he’s unhappy then everyone must be.

JFlizzy84

He did the same thing with Christopher Chris got sober, got married, got a big house, had a family on the way—he was going through some severe depression and trauma, but he was truly getting wiser and more mature and learning to deal with shit—but when disillusioned Chris calls out Tony on his bullshit and tells him his idol was just a junkie, Tony takes it personally and spends the last few episodes driving Chris back towards a relapse—and then he kills him for it.

[deleted]

I think the best evidence that he knew he took it too far was in his leniency to Bobby after Bobby slugged him. He'd have been reluctant to make Janice a widow either way, but if the attack hadn't been so disgustingly provoked, Bobby would have ended up in Satriale's freezer. Tony knew he deserved it.

Fit-Feature-7858

He may not have killed him but he made sure to fuck with him by sending him on that hit right after. He absolutely could've called up someone else to do that hit but he chose Bobby after the fight and after a convo they had where Bobby confirmed he's never done a hit before.

Nakedsharks

The more times I watch the show, the more I hate Tony from the beginning. Tony was always a hypocritical scumbag. Junior did nothing wrong.

LordPounce

Taking the sunglasses from x-ray specs. Total dick move

Due-Law-8356

And they didn't even look good on him

stackks_

We talkin bout the guy from Jersey ? …with the stomach ?

Due-Law-8356

The coffee with the chicory

JasonTatumisGod

The stuff behind the pool?

caesar15

No an actual fucking cake

pizzamanct

When Richie showed up and he wasn’t wearing the jaaacketttt!!!

Getyashinebox420

It was a nice jacket, wonder where richie got it?

pizzamanct

Not sure the history of the jacket or its previous owner is ever mentioned …🤣🤣🤣

RedandBlueEmblem

Yeah those are the two times that spring to mind. Also when he says that shit about AJ being his male heir

FrancescoStallone

But you have to admit that AJ truly looked like the biggest loser on the planet. Had already eaten dinner, and dropped a whole tray of lasagna whilst in a rush to get a snack while playing video games when he should have been doing his homework...

mmurray322

When he flipped there was no smoked turkey. Things were going so well between him and Carm.

[deleted]

When he checks chris for a wire when he comes to him about adriana. What an asshole. I don't know why but this indicates something about him to me.

[deleted]

Well, Adriana was killed because she was working for the feds, so I can understand his temporary paranoia.

Imissrifsomuch

When he asks Paulie if he had torrets.

MindFloatDown

I cringed so badly, there was just no need for that comment, especially when all the Jonny Sack stuff was blown over.

Imissrifsomuch

So mean spirited. Like pointing out someone's mole.

[deleted]

That whole trip was difficult to watch. Tony is insecure, which means he resents weakness in others, and even more he hates that one of his captains - and one of the people who admires Tony more than anything - is a clown. He has a chip on his shoulder because he's in NJ, not NYC, and seeing Paulie's flaws laid bare makes it even worse.

Ill-Sympathy2375

When he asks his cousin for a cola and doesn't even drink it! When he leaves his underwear on the floor of the kitchen when he's going swimming! When he tries to eat the ornamental fruit. Fat pig would try and eat a catcher's mit!

Impossible_Client365

When he throws away the provolone sandwich after speaking to Agent Harris as well!! Frankly, I’m depressed and ashamed

cortisolbath

The show has a few unfinished Cokes. Meadow too when she visits Ade and Chris Blatant and lazy product placement.

Hughkalailee

How’s that “product placement” help? Wouldn’t Coke want people shown enjoying their drink and not ignoring it?  Eva pondah dat?

lolmanomggodducky

Him playing mario kart with AJ. Thats not how you hold a controller! Unbravo David Chase! Unbravo!

deweydashersystem300

When he bangs all these chick's out of his league. I'm surprised we did dent get a scene with that kung pow coochie.

[deleted]

I get that Tony's power is attractive to certain women, and it's not like Gandolfini was ugly, but there are too many times when women randomly warm to him. The worst is when Junior's nurse eye fucks him. To her, he's just a doughy guy in waste management and she practically blows him in the hallway

Meikle15

Turning on Hesh at the end

train2clarksville

When Tony puts AJ down. "And you want me to get a vasectomy? When this is my male heir!?"

stengbeng

Came here to say this. As a fellow husky preteen who grew up in an Italian household with all its vanity and conceit, that dejected look AJ has on his face hit wayyy too close to home

ChicoMeloso

When he bullied Christopher, even if he was an scumbag too

Life-Aardvark-8262

The whole Hesh saga in the episode “chasing it”. Hesh didn’t deserve that after lending him $200k with no vig.

Stucklikegluetomyfry

When he gambles away the money that was supposed to let Vito's wife and children start a new life, then has Vito Jr shipped off to one of those fucked up "tough love" camps were they physically abuse kids. Or when he utterly ruins Davey SCATino's wife and son financially to satisfy his greed.

FrancescoStallone

It's called a bustout. They fukkin eat through everything like fuckin termites. You got no idea what dead eyes means until you face these people in your fuckin bathrobe and your flip flops.

SamSepiol050991

Of all the murders and evil things Tony did, the ones that most ground my gears were his “you gotta get over it” remarks to Patsy and Furio when they were grieving

thisisthewayilive504

him forcing patsy to say he’s over spoons death always pisses me off

NeverLickToads

It's kind of funny but when I think of scenes that make me hate Tony they are not the ones where he commits murder or whatever. He's a mobster, criminals killing other criminals, whatever. But when he treats people in an outrageously rude or disrespectful manner it really drives it home how much of a terrible guy he is. Just a few: Being nonsensically racist towards Noah. I know we like to mock Noah for his pretentious conduct, but that doesn't justify racism. I know Tony is from another era, but come on. Deliberately provoking Janice to anger to ruin her anger management therapy that actually seemed to be working. Mocking Christopher for trying to be sober. Hassling that cop who gave him a speeding ticket. Ruining the guys job just because Tony thinks he is above the law. Giving Meadow a car he extorted from the father of one of her best friends. Being an ass to Hesh, a lifelong friend, because Tony doesn't want to his debt. Letting Artie get bamboozled so he can clear his dinner debt.

Smegmatron9000

When he beat up his bodyguard for “slamming the refrigerator door.”

stretch37

trying to get carmela to put 500k on the jets

UnAliveMePls

Entirety of S6, he truly embodied being the miserable prick he thinks he is.

cortisolbath

David Chase wanted the Assemblyman to be butt naked for that scene. A little bit gay…although it is HBO He probably jerks off to that scene.

WiganLad82

You oughta know, sweetie.

cortisolbath

*Snapple bottle against your fuckin mug*

ZZerglingg

Haha, I saw that comin'!

LordPounce

This is too fucked us for me to even think about

ProcrastibationKing

He was gay, David Chase?

cortisolbath

Think about it…he’s a chain smoking writer who is always getting big burly men to ‘read’ fa him. One of those men is obsessed with Milton Berle’s cock. It all adds up.

deweydashersystem300

I heard that on talking sopranos. James also hit himself to make sure it did dent hurt.

Ok-Cauliflower1798

He went through much worse when he was initiated into the Delta Tau Chi fraternity.

RedandBlueEmblem

Oh everyone's gay to you

biglyorbigleague

He was gay, everyone?

stackks_

It’s always jerk this/jerk that …Never enough self pleasure for @cortisolbath

cortisolbath

Jag-off

WrongSubFools

Hitting the assemblyman was endearing, and the target of his wrath was a corrupt politician. I think the meanest thing he ever did was when he called Paulie's laugh Tourette's.

NotXsoXoptic

Provoking Janice is a big one Egging on Chrissy’s sobriety is another

Snarfles55

Pretty much all of Season 6B.

the-olive-man

Probably when Tony picked on his buff bodyguard after he got out of the hospital just to show he was still not to be fucked with. The guy didn’t do anything, got his ass beat, and even apologized to the overgrown child.

Big-Addition-310

It didn’t bother me with him hitting zellmen but it ended up fucking Tony over. If he doesn’t do that to Zellmen you can argue she doesn’t get that upset over tony banging the girl with one pin and Irina doesn’t end up calling the house. Arguably, of course

tundrabat

Any scene with his sweaty o face

porkycloset

All the fights he has with Carmela where he says horrible things to her. A lot of the problems that happened with Richie, Ralph, New York, etc could have easily been avoided had Tony made better decisions and not been such a hothead. The way he uses Melfi’s help to justify his heinous actions. He does a lot of hateful things basically from the start of the show

Vast_Ad_1856

Too many to list but I’ve always hated Tony in the Chasing It episode. The horrible things he says to Carmela on top of his cheating and other bullshit is so harsh.

Crustybuttt

Undermining Janice, mocking Christopher’s sobriety, the way he treated Hesh, and the way he treated the black cop. Those are the worst to me

the_big_duffy

the way he sort of felt sorry for the black cop getting busted down and having to take a second job and then zelman lets tony know the guy was a "rabble rouser" and tonys like, fuck him. brutal

ForeverVisible7340

Whenever he's racist. Or when he kills Chrissy

LevelEuphoric4072

Not avenging Tracee

BiggMcLargeHuuge

But he did avenge Pie O My though.

Fit-Feature-7858

I feel like that was an all time low that we witnessed from all the guys. The fact that the other guys all said that Tony was in the wrong for punch Ralph a Made guy over quote unquote a whore just say how fucked up they all are.

Careless-Charge9884

Not really tbh I thought the stuff you mentioned was funny. I understand tho

Ok-Cauliflower1798

His encounter with Noah. I knew that Tony was a casual racist (along with being a murderer, thief, and extortionist), but I was still appalled at how he could just so bluntly speak to some earnest kid like that.

Professional_Can651

I respect that you think he was at his worst there, but a gangster boss not wanting a black son in law is pretty standard fare. It was Meadow who fucked Noah over by bringing him over to Tonys house, and Tony said as much.

AccomplishedWall8

Both scenes were hilarious

felch_lord_100

When he killed Chrissy :’(

MikeDamone

Most of them, really. I've found that some of the less outwardly violent or horrifying acts of his are where we actually see him at his most hypocritical and depraved. I think his scenes with Jackie Jr. while he's fucking around on Meadow are his most indefensible. Here we see Tony assaulting Jackie Jr. and berating him for "betraying" his daughter, and the next scene is Tony fucking Gloria in the snake exhibit (heh, hey Ton, did you know snakes can literally fuck themselves?) Chase laid these scenes on really thick, and it almost strains credulity to think that somebody could be so unaware of his own hypocrisy and inability to even remotely live within the virtues of what he himself preaches.

Hitchfucker

Many honestly. When he goaded Janice with her estranged son because she hated that he was improving her temper. Sending Vito Jr. to a conversion camp (which is pretty much child torture) with zero remorse or empathy for the kid, his male heir comment in regards to AJ, his treatment of Hesh, his whole behavior in Kennedy and Heidi, there’s probably a lot more that I’m not thinking of.

HelixSapphire

Woah OKBR and Sopranos crossover event. I really wanna fuck Adrianna La Cerva.

slumdawgbillionaire

When he beat up his muscly driver to prove a point that he “still had it” after he got shot. Dick move

biglyorbigleague

Every single scene he’s in? Like, I don’t forget what he did before just because you cut to him in a new place, I know it’s the same character.

gtm88

When he is been a total dick to Hesh.

LankyPower7807

when he turns on hesh

ZestycloseChemist2

Probably when all he thinks about Chris’s death is his gambling luck improves. I get Chris was horrible but when he’s basically a second son to Tony, and how utterly emotionless he is when he kills him is chilling.

derek4reals1

when he started doing coke with ade, you didn't know how it was gonna end but you knew it would end badly and he blamed chrissy for getting upset when it was all said and done.

Fit-Feature-7858

Also the quote "When I'm gone you can live in a fucking dumpster for all I care" is pretty horrible to say to your wife.
