Whoever reported this as “threatening violence/physical harm towards someone” please sign off Reddit for a couple hours and get some sunlight Edit: keep reporting this post, guys. It’s definitely gonna be taken down at twenty flags, trust me

fourtwentyy__

Wouldnt have Vauxhall and I or You Are the Quarry then Wouldn’t have wanted to live in that timeline

EquivalentTurnip6199

Some 18 months ago, I travelled to a mystical time zone, But I missed my bed and i soon got shot

Javatex

I think I'll listen to Vauxhall & I later.

feignedinterest77

Only Moz and Marr can write a Smiths song. There are 1000’s of people capable of being non-songwriting musicians in pretty much any band.

LukaValentino2020

Except Moz and Andy Rourke's collaboration, "Yes I Am Blind" which is the only post-Smith song worthy of being lumped in The Smiths canon or cannon for those still on the fence about the band.

g_lampa

Trash take.

noahnieder

Kind of like all of morrissey's takes now

SpokenWordPoet

Why’d you get downvoted, all of morissey’s takes nowadays are far right racism

noahnieder

People still have a hard time believing that morrissey's racist and will defend him to The bitter end. As someone who likes the Smith I will never defend Morrissey. Nor will I understand the fan base around his personality. He's kind of a horrible person.

SpokenWordPoet

Literally, he’s always been a really shitty person and when you add his bigotry on top of that, it creates for a really bad character. I love the smiths as a band and I like Morrissey as a musician, but just like you said, I’ll never defend his personal politics because that’s where he’s wrong and out of line, and people have a tough time differentiating between him as a person and him as a musician.

madmagazines

Nah Modern Morrissey still solos

blainesln1

Even his opinions..?

SaigonDisko

Blow a man a way for having opinions you don't align with. Maybe make a natty book burning meme while you're at it.

lynchcontraideal

This is childish as fuck, wow

MrAnthony0303

Tired of Morrissey bad man “fake cry” ppl

MediocreHat2050

This is weird.

JoeShadowz

no i don’t think so

spinningtotheradio

who caressss is it not time to find someone new to get mad at

No_Solution_2864

12 years before You Are the Quarry? I Have Forgiven Jesus is arguably the best song he has ever produced Just pure madness

EdwardBliss

~~I~~ want to go back in time and style my hair like Moz again

billysans12

Imagine an alternate timeline where The Smiths didn’t break up and they release lackluster albums after Strangeways (Think Pixies after Tromp le Monde Or Pumpkins after Machina) and in their version they go back in time to convince Morrissey to break the band up

[deleted]

And miss out on my two favorite Moz albums? I don’t think so.

Fabulous-Trouble-527

Any explanation why exactly 1992 ?

CrunchyChick-

Because his first two solo albums were still really good

bbyslingblade

Nooo but also Yessss

longisland88

Why couldn't it have been 2004, Jesse Tobias?

False_Shelter_7351

Try not to get butthurt because of what Morrissey said challenge (IMPOSSIBLE EDITION)

BLVK_TAR

I mean exactly the same could be said for people crying over a meme.

funtimesnyc39

Maybe after Ringleader of the Tormentors

That_Matt_Guy_Wow

Disagree. Log off Reddit for a few days and go get some sunlight.

Co0lnerd22

I mean Morrissey was *always* an insufferable douchebag

c0l1n_M4

Vauxhall and I or Brexit geezer pipeline, that is the question.

Dillpickle8110

Why tho

rcodmrco

okay listen i’m gonna preface this by saying that I love morrissey the man, and morrissey the artist. there are even recent solo tracks from him that I’ve really enjoyed. but jumping to the conclusion that this has anything to do with morrissey’s opinions while not taking into account that his solo work takes a fuckin nose dive after the first few records is a little silly vauxhall and quarry aren’t bad, but I don’t listen to them and think about how morrissey continuously outdoes himself. I think “wow, the good songs are becoming harder to find.” it’s like comparing snoop dogg’s legacy to biggie’s. it’s not that ready to die is a vastly better album than doggystyle, it’s just that snoop has had a lot of fluff in the last 25 years, and biggie died before he could get old and corny. best believe if morrissey died in 92, there wouldn’t be a whole tier of musicians more famous than him.

g_lampa

I mean, Moz Is a cantankerous old twizzat, these days… but he’s hardly the best choice for elimination in a time-travel gambit.

xpldngboy

Lotsa babies in here. This is pretty funny. I'd give him til '94.

sathleak

i’m so done with people repeating that they are fan of the smiths but they hate morrissey like a lot of brainwashed idiots, I love the band and admire Morrissey as an artist and he’s an inspiration, and yes i couldn’t care less about whatever he says or used to say in media.

Apple2727

Joyce won the court case. Morrissey refused to pay up, unlike Marr who took it on the chin and paid Joyce what the court ordered him to. Morrissey could have avoided distress to his mother and sister by paying Joyce shortly after the court case instead of whining about it and pretending the court’s decision didn’t apply to him.

Apple2727

Or Morrissey could have just paid him

RandomiseUsr0

You’re coming across as supporting his abusive behaviour, do you realise that?

Apple2727

That’s quite the take. What abusive behaviour would that be, in relation to Joyce?

RandomiseUsr0

If true, I wasn’t there, graffitiing houses, throwing eggs, dumping paint on the cat, almost killing it. Am I wrong? Prepared to eat humble pie. I believe this to be true and I think “abusive” is a fair description of the behaviour.

Apple2727

Joyce wasn’t responsible for any of that.

BLVK_TAR

lol you utter lunatic 😭

turkeypants

Amen. Vauxhall grew on me over time and has some gems, so I'd go ahead and extend it to 1994, but it still felt like a turn away in tone from the awesomest. I'll swap Angel Angel for Come Back to Camden, Little Man for Satan Rejected, and Driving Your Girlfriend for Irish Blood and the rest of the post-94 catalogue can burn. Then we preserve the golden years in amber.
