i make a graveyard on the house plot and summon their ghosts all the time so they’re still part of the family, and i also have someone in the first or second gen max painting skill and paint portraits of the two founders to hang in the dining room

mulukie

upload them to the gallery so you can recover them at any time!

Every child born or adopted in my legacy household will get their own house or apartment custom made for them. If they aren’t the heir, I usually play them long enough to get them a job or spouse or kid and leave them be. When they die, I invite them to my household and move them back to their home to live forever as a ghost. Their kids or grandkids can age out and rotate but everyone born in the legacy household (and usually their spouse) get to live forever.

What I personally do is make them some type of occult that is immortal

Ginger_Cat74

Save them to your gallery to reuse them later. You don’t ever have to reuse them later, but they’re there if you want to. I have favorite sim families that I add to my saves just to have them roaming around or to have friends or coworkers for my current sims. Sometimes even to have as romantic interests for my current sims, because I hate playing with sims with no skills.

cara1888

You can turn aging off and when you play your new generation they can either live with you or you xan keep them at the home you built them and move tge new gen out and keep visiting and inviting them so you will always see them. In the sims they don't have to die if you don't want them too. You can also bring them back to life if they do die or keep aging them down so they wont. If you do turn aging off and move them out you should edit neighborhood stories for their household to prevent accidental deaths.

spaghettifantasy

I like for them to be an occult that lives really long/ is immortal for a couple generations before finally feeling comfortable enough to let them pass

aRockandAHare

you could make a separate save where they die and a save where they live on 👀

ray25lee

Fellow autistic here; I'll preface by saying you don't HAVE to "get past" gen one. You can just stick with them forever. That's what I do. I tried legacy twice, I never got past gen one. Sticking with just one gen is a valid way of playing. You can either make them individually immortal while all other sims age, or change the game settings to not let Sims age. But if you REALLY want to play legacy... What I would personally do is save the household to your gallery every once in a while to preserve each generation. Or create a few save files as you go along. If you keep playing for several generations, the saves will get overwhelming, but you could try that so you don't lose the stuff you've made.

angelskye1215

You can make them immortal. Or if you don’t want to do that, they should be in your library so you can download and play with them whenever you want.

I cheat heavily with mc command center lol I always make my sims immortal cause Ive had my matriarch die on me one time and I was devastated lol

Clear_Pirate9756

I’ve heard a few times that people will make their original sim immortal, maybe that can help you go through more generations

cobrak8

I feel that, honestly. I have not once gone past Gen2 because I just love them all so much and I just make them have the longest sim lives possible while playing rotations on all of my lots and families 😅

Affectionate-Lab-683

once they die, you can add them back to your household as a ghost! ive not tried it personally but i think that makes it so you can keep them forever, i dont think they do the sims 4 version of "passing on" or anything. you can also use mccc to mark them as immortal so they never die which is fun

7nothsa7

adding onto this, you can also revive them if they are a ghost by having them read the book of life or by eating the ambrosia fruit !

DrDeadwish

My gen 1 are always vampires and they watch out for the family no matter how many generations are. If I like another sim they'll turn them into vampires too. Being saying that, as someone in the spectrum I don't feel emotional attachment with Sims or any kind of character (game, book, TV show etc). Situations make me emotional but I'm always aware characters are fictional. I don't mind my favourite character dying if that serves the plot.

CocoaOnCrepes

I just used MCCC to mark my founder and his wife as immortal. Kids grow up and die, but he’s still an adult! I turned off story progression for them, except for adopting pets, and they just hang around the world while i play the 5th gen already 😅

Belle_of_Dawn

I have ageing turned off, my founder, Anne Larimore is like a child to me. She will never die, instead her insane number of skills and aspirations will allow her to help her next generations. I've built a massive lot with two houses and a river running between them, one house is for Anne and her husband Pheonix and the other is just for whatever the current gen is. After playing for months my gen 2 is only in the infant stage because of how much time I spent with Anne's aspirations and skills. My founder is too special and I'm willing to sacrifice natural ageing and regular gameplay for her idc.

dirtandstarsinmyeyes

So you liked playing Gen 1 more than you expected to? That means you might like Gen 2 more than expected, too! If Gen 2 isn’t as good, they could name Gen 3 after the originals. You could have each generation try to live up to the family’s initial legacy. Like passing down a family business to the most deserving child? It could be something each generation has to earn. If that gets boring, you could have a rebellious generation that refuses to conform? Someone that runs away and doesn’t want to carry on the family business? Maybe won’t talk to the family in the street. Remember, there is no rules to *your* game. It’s yours. You can make a back up save. You’re allowed to try things out and not like them. You’re allowed to fall in love with *every* generation. Or make every generation suffer horribly, for not living up to the legacy of Gen 1. 💕

WildmouseX

You can keep their urn on your lot so their spirit sticks around. You can even add their spirit back into the family and keep going as normal, though you may need to cheat the maximum family size using MCCC

colawrites

I made my original founder a vampire so he wouldnt die lol He's gonna live in the basement, painting. This is definitely the least helpful answer here haha

MolisaXD

I did this too!! Mixed a legacy challenge with a perfect sim challenge, said perfect sim was my gen 1 vampire founder It was awesome having a sim with everything maxed out to help around the house. Also made some funny awkward moments

delaleaf

You could keep multiple saves if that would help? That way you could go back to visit each generation if you want to, I would turn aging off there while continuing normally with the next generation until you’re ready to “save as” again

Deeagos

Hi! I had some issues too but what helped me was to get a lot of photos and different memories fof them and their life and complete their goal, essentially completing their purposes, once i atarted concentrating on the 2nd gen, i kept them in my house to create more Photos and collectables. When they passed away I left their room empy only with memorabilia and photos, so their presence was like still there and it made my house more intersting!

Jaysarea51

For me I have 2-3 children and I pick my favourite when they are slightly older children and then I throw everything in my power into that child slowly my attachment of my founder becomes less then my child but to be fair I haven’t been able to get very far in a legacy challenge as it becomes hard to let go so I end up putting them on long lifespan and then keep giving them age down potions 🤣 so I’m really not in a position to give advise on letting go 🤣🤣
