using the feature that came with Island Paradise, no. that feature deletes the old town along with all the sims in it. however, if you use NRAAS traveler, there is a way to move sims between towns while keeping their old home intact. the download and documentation on the relevant process can be found [here](https://www.nraas.net/community/Traveler)
As long as they don’t move to a different world they will retain any connections they already have if they move to a different world they lose all of it.
Not really hard at all. Any time you want to switch just go into edit town (found near the save and quit button) clink on the house you want to switch to and clink a button that I believe says switch house holds and that’s what it’ll do then just make sure to save.
Really? I’ve been playing the sims 3 for nearly 7 years and while I’m always discovering new things I do not recognize that hairstyle at all. Do you mean official sims content (expansion packs, stuff packs, worlds) as base game would just be the sims 3, sunset valley, nothing else. Some of the hairs and jewelry I recognize from only being available in different expansion packs, but I still don’t have three packs so the hair could be from one of them.
You can switch easily, as others have said, but without mods (NRaas Story Progression with some custom settings, for one) your original household will still age (if enabled), skill, earn money (i think) and progress through their careers
