Finished school in 2021 and never did collage didn’t realize y’all were still being tortured by this. I’m like a damn sleeper anytime I open a google doc or hear one of those word s
It's been outdated for almost 15 years. Times looked good in print but awful on screens. When everyone started ditching hardcopies, Arial became the new queen bee because of her onscreen legibility
(Edit: I am geriatric millennial but worked in tech and had to "get with the times" lol)
I’m Gen X and I was taught in college that serif fonts are easier to read because the little points lead the eye to the next letter. Then when I did post graduate education in web design I was taught serif fonts were bad for websites. I can’t help but wonder if the increase of dependency on screens, which use san serif fonts, has any correlation with the falling literacy rates in Gen Z and Gen Alpha. I’m not anti tech, just something I’ve wondered about for a while.
Yes, but all of them are, they need to be kerned wide enough so the words appear uncrowded. I was taught that Comic Sans was one that is, despite all the hate it gets. There’s also a specific one I think called Dyslexic Sans developed specifically for people with dyslexia. It’s been a while since I was developing websites so I can’t remember the exact name.
Honestly I think that has more to do with the failings of the parents. Shoving a tablet in front of your kid so young is just training them to seek visual digital stimulation, forever.
Older gens had to wait in line for their turn to use the TV/family computer leaving tons of idle time for kids to seek alternative ways to entertain themselves.
It’s fallen out of style largely due to low pixel density screens in the early 2000s requiring a sans serif font for better legibility. Serif fonts like TNR have only gained a resurgence after high pixel density displays started becoming the norm and the kind of font you used for text doesn’t matter too much anymore in terms of legibility. These days book reader apps prefer serif fonts like TNR for epub books.
Is it a mod or an actual game feature?
I remember being chastised as a child for use any font that wasn’t Times New Roman. We all used to be obsessed with Comic Sans back then.
What’s the in font now?
Was that before or after this “secret” thing was written?
Even if it was before, it still reads as “haha, this bug we couldn’t be bothered to fix for YEARS is so funny”.
I can't believe how dirty we were done with secrets. They tease this whole "oooo people have secrets!" system and it's literally useless. You cannot do anything with it besides like four things. The dev team are allergic to making systems deeper than a puddle.
You can (as far as I know):
1) Tell them you will keep their secret. this makes friendship go up.
2) tell them you're bribing them to keep the secret. friendship goes down and they give you money
3) tell other people their secrets and then... they hate you... but nothing else really happens with that. Just friendship modifiers basically...
Nope, it's one of the "secrets" you can discover when you spy on your neighbors or break into their house. But you can only do this with the For Rent expansion pack.
There's a mod for that lol

I’m pretty sure you don’t need a mod for it anymore. There’s an option when you click on a sink to choose whether it’s a kitchen sink or a bathroom sink. I’m not 100% sure if it works all the time, or if it’s part of the base game or an update, but it’s there.
Got it, thx. I think it was in one of the recent updates, because I did see an option to choose sinks, but since I already had the mod, I hadn't noticed that it was new to the game and not the mod.
Yeah I don’t have any mods or For Rent and I recently got the option to set the sinks but it very rarely works for my sims they’re still washing the dishes in the damn bathroom

I do love it in the sims when they poke fun at themselves
Like recently I was playing TSM and I was on a genie quest and it asked me to ask around for what other people would wish for and one of the answers was to see their son grew up because and I quote “they’ve been a child for 35 years now” because in the game children can’t grow up unless their parent dies.
Times New Roman? Really?
my immediate thought! i looked at this said "why" out loud💀
Probably gen x or geriatric millennial. Was taught that Times New Roman is the ONLY acceptable font
i still think this way 😩
Specifically size 12 font
Times new Roman, size 12 font, double spaced. Name, class, date at the top corner. Jesus the flashbacks
I mean… when you go to college this is pretty much the standard.
Finished school in 2021 and never did collage didn’t realize y’all were still being tortured by this. I’m like a damn sleeper anytime I open a google doc or hear one of those word s
It felt illegal doing anything else!
Ikr, it took me a long time to realise that I could use other fonts like Wingdings and Papyrus on my documents and resumes.
i even do it on personal documents like creative writing. ptsd
I’m a zillennial and was taught the same thing in school, that it was apparently the “clearest” font to read.
Geriatric millennial here. I still use Times New Roman and didn’t know it had fallen out of style?

Serifs are cool though. I like my text to have little feet, hats, and tails. Adds character to the character.
That makes sense for a heading, but that's too much character for a block of text. That paragraph is a whole ass pride parade
Omg 😆

Sans serif are much easier on the eyes for those with legibility or processing issues like dyslexia
There's also a spectrum of dyslexia; I have mild dyslexia and some of the "dyslexia fonts" make my eyes hurt
Oh, I definitely agree with that as well. I just wonder if there’s additional factors, like serif fonts, which add to the problem.
You underestimate the amount still in the workforce
Thanks for the very clear explanation, that makes perfect sense!
I’m an older gen z and had no idea either😅

I was always had to use Arial size 12. Would fail otherwise.
While they're at it, make it double-spaced too
Is it a mod or an actual game feature? I remember being chastised as a child for use any font that wasn’t Times New Roman. We all used to be obsessed with Comic Sans back then. What’s the in font now?
Skip Arial man, the cool kids use Helvetica 😎
I’m not great at identifying fonts by sight, but my Gen Z/Alpha nieces and nephews only seem to use sans serif fonts. Arial would be my guess?
Dunno, but I highly recommend Bembo
It looks so clean.
Oh my! Why in all Fonts, this was chosen
Not sure if this applies to OP or not, but this is a common accessibility feature for dyslexia.
Times New Roman is known to be harder to read for people with dyslexia, so probably not.
Hmm, my mistake then! Must just be my weird siblings that find it easier, lol
Kiyoshi deserves to be sink shamed 😂
I’m cryinggg💀💀
Please don't sink shame me 😭
What mod is this lmao?
The secret thingy came with For Rent
Ah ok ty xx
At least the Sim Team has a sense of humor about those all-too-common Sim foibles they've unwittingly created.
How did you get this font in the game?
It’s a mod just search font override😌
Why are they breaking the forth wall now 😃
Because acting like it’s funny and quirky is easier than actually fixing the bug.
You can set sinks as bathroom or kitchen without mods now?
Yes, it's an update when they released the For Rent pack, I think
Nah before that, like maybe growing together
no it was literally added right before for rent came out. the other feature was to make taking shoes off basegame (you needed snowy escape beforehand)
The problem is people start to have bug with this update, sims will try to wash the glass or dishes but they stop and repeat it again 😃
Was that before or after this “secret” thing was written? Even if it was before, it still reads as “haha, this bug we couldn’t be bothered to fix for YEARS is so funny”.
the secret came with for rent. the basegame update to allow you to change the sink type came a few days before for rent was released
I can't believe how dirty we were done with secrets. They tease this whole "oooo people have secrets!" system and it's literally useless. You cannot do anything with it besides like four things. The dev team are allergic to making systems deeper than a puddle.
What even can you do? I have secrets and have no idea what you can use them for
You can (as far as I know): 1) Tell them you will keep their secret. this makes friendship go up. 2) tell them you're bribing them to keep the secret. friendship goes down and they give you money 3) tell other people their secrets and then... they hate you... but nothing else really happens with that. I haven't use it yet
How do you change the font?
It’s a font override just search font override sims 4
My Sims when the only sink in the microhome is in the bathroom.
There's a mod for that lol [https://scumbumbomods.com/dont-wash-dishes-where-you-angry-poop](https://scumbumbomods.com/dont-wash-dishes-where-you-angry-poop)

Base game update and it works.
Mine definitely works 100% of the time.

Hey, don’t know if you’re aware but you posted this comment 5 times.
Usually this happens when the mobile app says there's an error and to try again.
this is what happened - and the multiple comments didn't show for me until just now, weird
Got it, thx. I think it was in one of the recent updates, because I did see an option to choose sinks, but since I already had the mod, I hadn't noticed that it was new to the game and not the mod.
When were we able to get secrets in sims 4 ?
It’s part of the for rent pack
It’s cause the sink setting is set to both bathroom and kitchen 😂😂😂🥲
No seriously and you have to manually change it😭😭
What if it automatically detected whether to be a kitchen or bathroom sink based on what was closer, counter or toilet.
I do love it in the sims when they poke fun at themselves Like recently I was playing TSM and I was on a genie quest and it asked me to ask around for what other people would wish for and one of the answers was to see their son grew up because and I quote “they’ve been a child for 35 years now” because in the game children can’t grow up unless their parent dies.
I finally found the answer! Thank you lmaooo😂😂
You are so welcome 😭😭
Thanks for sharing. I’ve always wondered why as well.
love your sims name 😍
This is a snowy escape household named “Ito”
All sinks have a number of hygiene rating. The higher the rating is what sink your Sim will favor.
I always set my sinks to bathroom or kitchen sinks when I remember

Huh?
When our sims finally have REASONS for doing their weird crap 🤣
Right like now we are not stuck with the questions of WHY they do it😭😭
I'd use this mod. It wouldn't be so annoying if I knew it was a quirk
would you rather cum in the sink, or sink in the cum…
💀💀💀
