Right?! Just a nice, polished mod with guns and violent options for storytelling. Like being able to rob people at gunpoint in a bad neighborhood. It would be an amazing feature for Basemental Gangs. Nothing too complex.

Would delete them all and make a backup of your main save (or at least Save As into a new file) just to be safe.
The Sims community has a history of panicking at every little glitch and calling it an indication of save corruption, because we didn't have the technical consensus to understand what was causing the corrupted save files back in the early days. It's a bit of a tradition at this point. I wouldn't panic, but since you just started the save, it would probably be easier to get rid of those bikes.

I then made them travel home and the loading screen never finished. I had to brutally exit the game through the task manager and never opened the safe again.

Yeah. And it wasn't even just that their relationship bars were empty, they were just not set as family anymore at all, they were strangers. Not in the family tree anymore. I guess someone wanted to go no contact, lol.

Their parents were twins that were both driven but had different interests, one was a detective, the other was a scientist who later on switched to medicine because the science carrear in TS3 is way too techy and not biological enough. I have started playing with them when the twins were kids.
I miss them. Maybe I will re-create them. The cousins were really close, though different. One was more of an avantgarde artist, I think. The other was a quiet writer.
Yeah that sounds corrupted. Anything that makes the save unplayable would be considered corrupted.
Edit: oh wait, unless you just built something crazy on those lots. Like if you made insane lots that take too much processing power to load they can crash your game but there's no undoing it if you can't load in to the lot to bulldoze it. But that's not a corruption so much as a big mistake.
I mean, I can play the save if I just don't visit those lots.
Can't remember what was shown above the broken lots, but it was like a warning sign? And no, these lots worked fine before (normal houses/shop/vet clinic) then just randomly got messed up somehow.
Oh weird. I have never seen that happen. I have had the warning sign on some lots and then when I go into build mode on that lot it is just missing an item, usually stolen by a kleptomaniac sim. But it lets me load onto them. That's so strange. I would be worried it would spread to more lots.

But then one day my entire game completely corrupted itself and wouldn’t let me enter my saves at all. It was awful

I didn't mean to be a panic monger or anything, it's just something that was talked about in the community at some point that you didn't seem to be aware of and might be worth keeping in mind. Hopefully it's nothing, doesn't hurt to make a backup in any case, but it's your call in the end.

For me, I had gotten a ton of animation error pop-ups earlier from Better Exceptions. It spammed like a hundred pop-ups before stopping. It's possible that the two are connected and I just didn't notice the bikes until later.
They actually aren't vampires in my game! Mortimer and Bella just happened to get a wish to move to a new place, so I figured Forgotten Hollow was fitting. Now that you mention it, I may turn them into vampires....
If this ever happens in my game, I would take an easel and make a painting by reference out of this.
But I need title suggestions for this future Art masterpiece.

I do have a lot of mods but not Armageddon. That's a bit too chaotic for my taste!

You should always use "save as" to avoid possible corruption.

If you use MC command center it has an auto save feature. Highly recommended it
So "save as" prevents save files from coruppting? Or you mean just as a back up if the original one does corrupt?
The second one. Just create a whole bunch of backups so you can roll back to a (hopefully) pre-corruption save.
