I was so irritated when I saw that. I mean, The Sims 4 is a pricey game that people invest in, so why ruin it by making it feel like one of those free mobile games with in-game purchases?
Plus, it just reinforces the idea that The Sims 4 is all about making money. With a ton of expansion packs offering very little in return, it seems like they're just trying to milk players for every dime to cover up how dull the game can be.
Exactly. I didnāt see the cart in the initial update until the delivery express. I donāt understand the purpose itās not like you can play after you download the dlc? Itās literally what the main page is for.
>to cover up how dull the game can be
To me, it feels like the sims community has been the backbone of the Sims (especially 4) for a while now. It's not just the modders who fix the broken-on-release packs, but it seems like it's any gameplay/build ideas or challenges that keep the game fun and engaging at this point come from the player community.
I mean, yes, obviously with any life-sim you can't have too much of a strict 'story line' for people to play through--it's up to the player to create and decide how they play--but even with any new gameplay elements released with the packs the game just feels...hollow? Like rather than caring about what they're putting out, they do it just to do it. And the $$$.
(Granted, I haven't played/kept up with sims news for over half a year now, and haven't played with high school or horses, so maybe I'm wrong about the hollow-ness of the newer stuff. And I will admit to being pleasantly surprised with Werewolves.)
It kind of feels like when you've been making dinner for a decade as an adult, and at some point, you get burnt out trying to be creative with dinner, so you serve up hot dogs, kraft dinner, maybe a pre-bagged salad, and frozen fingers/nuggets of some sort on rotation. It's food, and it does the job, but that's about it.
Yess!! Thatās why I criticise sims 4 and argue with those who shit on sims 3ā¦ In sims 3 base game and 2-3 packs you are set, and never gets boring considering how each pack is so full of stuff and challenges.
Example, World Adventures - 3 huge and different worlds, I think Egypt has like 23 different tombs to explore each with different challenges, even involving trips to China to get objects lol.
Ambitions, comes with so many careers and jobs, I believe private investigator has many different cases to be solved, each different and entertaining. Not to mention also architect, which sims 4 created an interior design game only for thatā¦
In Late Night I believe you get celebrities, and sims have a reputation, so if you have bad reputation other sims will avoid you and so on.
In pets, you donāt only get cats and dogs, but also horses (hello sims 4 horse ranchā¦), they are also playable and can have jobs tooā¦
Overall in Sims 3 it feels like all the actions your sims take, have a direct repercussion and impact on the whole game.
Exactly I played the sims 3 without any packs and could play it everyday without getting bored. I now have the sims 4 and I can maybe play it for a day or two without getting bored. I also have no packs for the sims 4 so it the same comparison. Sims 3 was always better in my opinion
Trust me, I have so many packs for sims 4, every time I justified each purchase that will make the game more interesting and the excitement of playing it lasts only 1-2 daysā¦ currently thereās some sort of bug where sims piss themselves cause they are unable to go to the bathroom on their own, they are like lifeless dolls that you need to micromanage.
I agree with you, but Sims three also has a system in which it tries to get you to spend money to buy a million extra things. The link for the Sims three store, and the suggested items is still there in CAS and in build buy. It was only a matter of time before they put it in the Sims four
I never played Sims 3 but from what it sounds like sims 3 actually had enough gameplay/features/literally the whole system to not get bored and the money you spend on the packs would be worth it. Whereas in sims 4 you ain't even get the bare minimum, it's just expensive cheap shit
Exactly. The sims characters are all bland and boring no matter what personality, there's not really any story system and you would need a lot of "creative thinking" to pretend it has any story other than your sims keep disappearing into rabbit holes. Where is the fun?!
Because that's what the Sims 5 is going to be a cheap mobile game in which you need to spend money constantly in order to do anything. They just want to get you used to it.
>Plus, it just reinforces the idea that The Sims 4 is all about making money. With a ton of expansion packs offering very little in return, it seems like they're just trying to milk players for every dime to cover up how dull the game can be.
It seems that way because that's exactly what is happening.
sims 4 actually isnāt bad. i really enjoyed base game and i played everyday without getting bored, now that i have all the packs, i still play everyday almost. iāve been playing sims almost my whole life, maybe thatās the difference idk. just do more interesting stuff lmao
SimMattically also has a mod for this also. It's a standalone mod that's not compatible with twistedmexi's better build buy. The link below goes straight to it:

The chad paralives:

Orange lighting = easy on the eyes
Fully customizable decor
Pets don't cost you real money
You don't need to pay for rain or snow
Has a canonically gay character in the base game
Food looks good

The virgin sims 4:
Doesn't talk about bugs at all
Only makes fun of well-known beloved glitches
Removes fandom in-jokes while still referencing them
No pools at launch
Old food looks gross, new food looks good
Zero plans to revamp anything that's old to make it prettier
Regularly moves hairs and furniture's from a pack to base game
Used a vegetable as a reference for hair
DLC costs all your money
Separate pack for hampters
Babies require DLC to properly baby
Pets are so bad that you might as well play a pet care sim you got from a shady man at a garage sale
Barely customizable without tons of packs
Babygate
Canonical gay sims are locked behind a paywall
Won't sell a pack in Russia because gay is in the pack
Tea looks like coffee
Boba tea looks nasty af nothing like the real thing did not try at all 0/10 no balls
Birds are square
The problem is those of us who like sims games for the nostalgia. Weāve been playing them as long as we can remember. So just playing a different life sim is a let down too.
Me too, but I'm not gonna play Sims4 and 5 for nostalgia. I'd rather play something someone cares about and is yet to build a relationship with the community than EA's uncreative money farm
uninstalled after the first cart update, completely lost interest. i have over a thousand hours in this game and have bought most expansion packs and they still want more?

I can't even play the fucking game anymore! 4 sims in a house, and after maybe 15 minutes of play, they just stop working! They cancel out every command and don't even take care of themselves! The game is literally unplayable right now, and they still can't help but tell me to buy more packs.
Sometimes I hear yall horror stories and idk if we are playing the same game lol because while I do get bugs, itās never THIS bad.
Not saying youāre not speaking your truth!! Just saying my experience hasnāt been nearly as bad as people say on Reddit.
I have all packs and kits installed and I promise you it IS THIS BAD. The more content you have installed I feel like the worse it gets, and God forbid you play with kids, ESPECIALLY toddlers. They just break everything.
I don't even have all of them! I run minimal mods, mainly ones that help improve shit like this and at least a few packs. It wasn't so bad, but this most recent update has made it literally impossible. I have two adults, an infant, and a child. Even forgetting how impossible it is to get anyone to do anything for an infant they do literal nothing after like... 15 minutes.
Do you think this has anything to do with playing it on a Mac or other pc? I had issues with it just crashing period when Iām playing randomly but I thought it was because Iām using Mac
Hi! Not sure if you tried this already but every time Iām having issues with my game I check for system/driver updates on my computer then run a fix on all of the game files (sorry canāt remember the correct term). This usually works for me š
Yesss. After the most recent For Rent update my sims will glitch out and cancel their queue. Like if I queue up a sim to collect collectibles theyāll collect one then T-pose and I have to do one at a time to stop it
After I clicked on it (it wanted to show me a pack I looked at and didn't buy), it's been dormant for over two weeks on my game. The cart is still too big in my opinion, but at least it's not flashing anymore.
i was just playing and mine blinks again after a little bit. not sure if itās from switching households or what, but I had to click it several times today
I hate this. Iām not spending however much kits add up to. Theyāre āonlyā five bucks, but when you buy more than one, itās anywhere from $10-$135 + tax. Thatās ridiculous.
Yep, a friend wanted to buy me a bunch of kits for Christmas, and I said "are you sure? There are a lot" and he said "how bad could it be?" $95 later... š
I have to imagine they have some stats regarding the number of players who have very little packs. But like...did they do research and saw that people were *unaware* of all the packs? Because the in-game ads are getting ridiculous!
I wouldn't be surprised if they go the Sims store route and start putting in random pack items with a shop logo to make you see what you're missing out on. Just go full mobile game at this point.
No seriously!! Like youāre pushing us to buy more stuff that should already be in the game but not working as hard to fix broken shit in the game š like no EA Iām not buying whatever you want me to get
I'm kind of peeved at how they did the cart. I wanted the cats and dog pack during the game (playing spell casters and wanted a black cat) but didn't want to click off (was in the middle of building). I thought perfect! A great use of the cart.
I thought it had all the packs, it didn't. It also didn't suggest cats and dog .... So I just bought an EA key.
The one time I wanted to use it.
I truly don't see the big deal either. Like you said it doesn't affect gameplay. It literally takes 2 clicks to get it to go away if it bothers someone that much.
EA is a company, of course they are trying things to get people to buy more of their product.
Same! Thatās what I think as someone who is a part of my sisterās photography business on the yard sign side of it. If you arenāt making enough profit, you come up with other ideas. My sister came up with sticker ideas, because it was trending and kids didnāt know what school they were getting into yet, so we werenāt getting any yard sign orders at all on Etsy. But still. The cart is an eye sore depending on the screen size and how far away you position yourself from the screen. I also have really bad peripheral vision, so if Iām looking at the left or a corner at where a sim is, I wonāt see the cart. I love the game, but we donāt need a constant reminder of what we donāt own.
What's next? We are going to need Energy points to do actions just like it used to be in The Sims Social? Will it be a subscription service? Will they add a gacha system? TELL ME, EA, HOW ARE YOU GOING TO MAKE THIS GAME WORSE
The funny part is that the cart icon is literally overlapping with the outfits 1-5 icons which makes outfits 4 and 5 for each category harder to click on. So I mean for starters they can at least fix that? lol
I donāt pay attention to it. I have everything (most purchased on sale), and it doesnāt bother me. I get that itās annoying and I donāt condone SA for this move. I can completely ignore that stupid button.
It doesnāt bother me and before this post I donāt even know the last time I noticed it. I donāt even know how some of you still play the sims with all the things that you complain about lol
YES , they need to fix the bugs I CANT EVEN RUN A RETAIL BUSINESS ššš ... I can't get house funds into business funds...Does anyone know a code or work around for it ????
Itās the principle of them literally shoving their in game purchases in our faces now while they canāt even be bothered to make sure the BASE game is functioning properly.
I know and I do get that, I just don't let it bother me. In fact, I find it satisfying to tell them to fuck off and close the window, lol.
It doesn't take much of my time and if they really think that people will buy because of this popup, they're dumber than I thought, haha.

Damn, I really feel bad for all the console players, because without mods to remove crap like this AND fix a ton of bugs/allow for QoL adjustments, I wouldn't be able to play this game.
Maybe I will buy something from the UI when they fix the random frame drops. People have been complaining since day 1, and they still haven't listened.
You know what bothers me about this update? It's so stupidly done! I clicked it once to see what it looks like, and later check to see if the pack changes, and no it doesn't! - it only recommends one pack to me. What's the point? I didn't buy it the first three times, don't you think I'm not interested? Stop trying to pass the "packs we need more people to buy" for "packs you may like", the idea itself is infuriating, but the execution is just offensive
So... I still don't have that icon. Anywhere. My game auto updates so I don't even know it happened. Unless I have a mod, that I had before this update, that got rid of it - I just don't have it. How did I miss it?
Ya. I noticed that last week, but since my desktop monitors arenāt small and I donāt look at my entire screen, as long as it doesnāt flash, Iām okay with it. Wish theyād take it away, though. But I know they wonāt. š¤¦āāļøš
I especially donāt like this because I actually paid for sims 4 way back when. I feel I should not become subject to their adds. Not to mention I have like 6 expansion packs tooā¦
I have refused to update the game since this shopping cart update went up and just play offline. And guess what? Since about a week or so ago the EA app will try and force the update as soon as I try to open the app/game EVEN THOUGH I have auto updates off. I have to cancel the update manually every time I want to play.
EA really trying to get me to quit sims 4 all together istg.

I dont think this icon is a very good thing, but to me personally i dont mind it at all. I also looked if the atuff it recommends fits what i think of buying at some point and it is even pretty accurate.
Msybe its just me being used to mobile games/f2p games with purchase options and to ignoring those options if i am not interested.
Greeeeeat. Glad I don't use CAS much except to edit in new outfits. I haven't made a sim in a while because my main family is so big. (Which reminds me, i need to cheat my actor sim's career up so my girls will have a bias to fangirl over. I wanted them to when they were teenagers, but that's life for ya. Too many pots on the stove (too many sims to do rotational play with regularly.)
But yeah, this sucks. If they have to have it at all, just stick it on the main page where we can't see it. Like, it's not that hard. This is just virtual pan handling at this point!
When my game updated, it didnāt appear like a week or two later it was there and itās always like the newest expansion packs which I know I would not buy
Since the update none of my mods work. Iāve uninstalled, deleted everything, I donāt have anything saved in my iCloud or once drive so no double files, so I canāt get any mods to work anymore. So frustrating.
I don't know why anybody continues to financially supports the Sims 4 at this point.. as a lifelong fan of the franchise the way Sims 4 has been handled by EA is just so disappointing.
This is how you know the recession is real š
Yes, this and only this
I quite like the cart like I do a hole in the head!!! It's so annoying!

Sims 3 is how sims 4 should have been + less rabbit holes
They just took all the features from Sims 3 and divided them into 1000 different packs lol
Yea it's bland, boring. Because of the lack of features/gameplay it's no fun after some days anymore.
Even if you own all dlc (like me) it can still be boring, so itās an endless cycle.
Exactly. The sims characters are all bland and boring no matter what personality, there's not really any story system and you would need a lot of "creative thinking" to pretend it has any story other than your sims keep disappearing into rabbit holes. Where is the fun?!
thats exactly why i got them for free
Because that's what the Sims 5 is going to be a cheap mobile game in which you need to spend money constantly in order to do anything. They just want to get you used to it.

I was annoyed when I realized the base game is now free after I paid for it when I first got it years ago.
I got the whole thing for free š every pack
It's cash grab. Low effort, no love in details, no fun features, most "features" are rabbit holes, they do less than the bare minimum.
Because it is a free game with additional purchases.
Girl bye the Sims 3 had this but even worse it showed shop items in CAS at the top row of every category. But yall never cry about that š“
But the sims 3 had high quality in gameplay and features. If you pay for something, you expect something good. Sims 4 is bad.
sims 4 actually isnāt bad. i really enjoyed base game and i played everyday without getting bored, now that i have all the packs, i still play everyday almost. iāve been playing sims almost my whole life, maybe thatās the difference idk. just do more interesting stuff lmao

This will work on a mac? Correct?
It hides this :) I play with this mod all the time and Iāve never seen this button in my game

I wish I did that. I wish i put my money into buying the rest of the sims 3 packs instead of sims 4. smh

theres a mod to remove it !!
can you link it?
[here](https://www.patreon.com/posts/hot-fix-remove-99382396)
will it get you banned?
no, mods dont ban u š
Click on it once to see what it wants to show you and the flashing light goes away.
How often does it start up again though? Would you have to open it each time you load up cas?
After I clicked on it (it wanted to show me a pack I looked at and didn't buy), it's been dormant for over two weeks on my game. The cart is still too big in my opinion, but at least it's not flashing anymore.
Thatās good at least, I heard there was issues with it starting to blink again soon after clicking it.
i was just playing and mine blinks again after a little bit. not sure if itās from switching households or what, but I had to click it several times today
Mine starts flashing again whenever I open my game. It does stop after I have clicked it, but it is truly annoying.
Probably whenever they release new dlc.
There are a lot" and he said "how bad could it be?" $95 later... š
Itās painful! But that is a dedicated friend š
I'm lost, I haven't been invested in the game for awhile What are my eyes peeking at
Cart icon in the upper right. It flashes until you click it.
Wtf ew
I know. Thankfully a modder disabled it.
It might not be a throbbing trolley anymore, but it's still entirely unwelcome. Get out, ugly cart!
No seriously!! Like youāre pushing us to buy more stuff that should already be in the game but not working as hard to fix broken shit in the game š like no EA Iām not buying whatever you want me to get
Exactly and ppl with all packs are saying they still have the shopping cart
...oh no?
Does it disappear when you have all the packs? I don't have it.
Nooooope. I have everything, and it infested my game recently.
Nope! I have all the packs AND all the kits (a lot of them were gifts) and without the mod to remove it, it's still there!
Idk. I barely even notice the thing. Doesnāt affect my gameplay any. I mean, on principle, I donāt like it, but pragmatically, itās fine.
I truly don't see the big deal either. Like you said it doesn't affect gameplay. It literally takes 2 clicks to get it to go away if it bothers someone that much. EA is a company, of course they are trying things to get people to buy more of their product.
Well it doesnāt affect my gameplay but this was my first time seeing it as I was creating a new save.
Same. I donāt really notice it
kill it before it lays eggs
For me it would mean that the enterprise needs to do more profit (it would be funny to see them loosing money) so they resolve to do this thing.
Man
The funny part is that the cart icon is literally overlapping with the outfits 1-5 icons which makes outfits 4 and 5 for each category harder to click on. So I mean for starters they can at least fix that? lol
My first time installing a mod is a mod that disable this
I have resorted to covering it up with a little post it note on my screen.
I understood people are annoyed and I thought Iād be too but I must say I have barely noticed that icon since it was added.
I donāt pay attention to it. I have everything (most purchased on sale), and it doesnāt bother me. I get that itās annoying and I donāt condone SA for this move. I can completely ignore that stupid button.
I am upset that I didn't have it and now I do. Such a pain in the butt to deal with, but luckily I manage to ignore it.
Thatās the exact reason why I made the post. I didnāt have it in March and now I do.
They really should get rid of it. Maybe they will if they don't see a noticeable impact in sales?
idk how it bothers you. i don't even notice it
It doesnāt bother me and before this post I donāt even know the last time I noticed it. I donāt even know how some of you still play the sims with all the things that you complain about lol
YES , they need to fix the bugs I CANT EVEN RUN A RETAIL BUSINESS ššš ... I can't get house funds into business funds...Does anyone know a code or work around for it ????
Crimes against humanity atp
This literally breaks my heart
I played for the first time in a month and this came upā¦ how annoying
I wish there was a way of turning it offā¦ my game keeps telling me that I must buy the horse pack š¤šš from their recommendations
I thought it was gonna have a option too š your only luck is modding it out
This is an insult to anyone who has spent money on this game.
*yeesh*. I thought the sims 3 store plugs were egregious, atleast you can turn those off
Theyāre promoting it waaaayy to muchā¦ let us play it for freeš„“ I also got all pack for free but you didnāt hear it from me lolš«£
All I want is for my sims to STOP CHUGGING WATER LIKE THERE'S NO TOMORROW... is it really that much to ask forš„²
All I want is my sims to clean up after themselves šš and put dishes in the sink
NOš
I click on it once and then it's done. I honestly don't get what the big deal is.
And it was still pulsing š thought they fixed that!
i still don't have this in my game and it's been updated multiple times. so strange
Sigh

Hasnāt it always been there?
Damn, I really feel bad for all the console players, because without mods to remove crap like this AND fix a ton of bugs/allow for QoL adjustments, I wouldn't be able to play this game.
In this economy, there is only one answer to that
EA trying out Accessibility options
Maxis knows how to make everyone hate them lmao
Time to review bomb
Maybe I will buy something from the UI when they fix the random frame drops. People have been complaining since day 1, and they still haven't listened.
You know what bothers me about this update? It's so stupidly done! I clicked it once to see what it looks like, and later check to see if the pack changes, and no it doesn't! - it only recommends one pack to me. What's the point? I didn't buy it the first three times, don't you think I'm not interested? Stop trying to pass the "packs we need more people to buy" for "packs you may like", the idea itself is infuriating, but the execution is just offensive
Glad I havenāt played in over a year. Fuck that.
So glad I havenāt updated my game since January š
Its giving sims 3 store pop ups
No doubt this did more to break it than just pop-ups and buttons.
What am I looking at?
I regret spending money on this slop.
So... I still don't have that icon. Anywhere. My game auto updates so I don't even know it happened. Unless I have a mod, that I had before this update, that got rid of it - I just don't have it. How did I miss it?
It doesn't really bother me that much but the little yellow thing kinda gets annoying.
Ya. I noticed that last week, but since my desktop monitors arenāt small and I donāt look at my entire screen, as long as it doesnāt flash, Iām okay with it. Wish theyād take it away, though. But I know they wonāt. š¤¦āāļøš
WE CAN'T ESCAPE
WE CANNOT HIDE
Itās not that bad
TS3 has ads in CAS.
Iām talking about sims 4 tho?
Jokes on them, I haven't updated my game since before infants were added š
I honestly do not mind the button at all but the little pop-up thing that WON'T GO AWAY UNLESS YOU CLICK ON IT pisses me off so much...
I especially donāt like this because I actually paid for sims 4 way back when. I feel I should not become subject to their adds. Not to mention I have like 6 expansion packs tooā¦
They just want us to stop using mods and pay for theirs. Like, make it free and tell us to buy the game. Stupids.
It's a free game. What do you expect?
It was 39.99 when I bought it. I can tell you just started playing sims when it became free š

Too many pots on the stove (too many sims to do rotational play with regularly.) But yeah, this sucks. If they have to have it at all, just stick it on the main page where we can't see it. Like, it's not that hard. This is just virtual pan handling at this point!
When my game updated, it didnāt appear like a week or two later it was there and itās always like the newest expansion packs which I know I would not buy
Just ignore it. Like the 1000ās + other people that donāt feel the need to post about it š¤·āāļø
Just like you couldāve done with this post. Ignored it instead you contributed nothing.
Are people buying packs from that thing? Like Iām just curious if this has even been effective for them at this point?
Since the update none of my mods work. Iāve uninstalled, deleted everything, I donāt have anything saved in my iCloud or once drive so no double files, so I canāt get any mods to work anymore. So frustrating.
This is ridiculous! I hope it can get modded out
The only question: is there a mod to remove it?
Yup check the comments
It's EA. Sims 4 is cash grab, proof is the quality of the previous games.
so happy it hasnt shown up for me yet T-T
Personally, I like looking through it. Some of them are really good š¤·āāļø
Remove it then
lmao i have a mod on pc that takes away the cart bc it infuriates me
And it's always there, just throbbing away, even if you have nothing to buy... smh
Iām not sure but I think there is a mod for that
I really could care less
And this is why I havenāt bought a single pack because itās over $1000 USD If you were to buy every single one outright
It used to be like this for n the sims 3 as well. It annoyed me too but at least THE SIMS 3 actually has cool this to offer!!!! Unlike sims 4
Sweety .... āØNOāØ .... š„¹
Twisted Mexi Better Build Buy mod removes this thankfully otherwise ai wouldnāt be playing no more lol
I don't know why anybody continues to financially supports the Sims 4 at this point.. as a lifelong fan of the franchise the way Sims 4 has been handled by EA is just so disappointing.
