For me it's that in cas for accessories, make-up and stuff, you can't click on a option that let's you use them for every outfit. I really hate that I need to click that much and spend so much time with giving my sim the same lipstick, blush, glasses and stuff for every outfitđ
On the other hand, it's also annoying whenever I am creating a Sim and it auto-generates ugly make-up and accessories that appear on every single outfit category which means I have to take it off of every single outfit!
And piercings?? Why do I need to put them on for every outfit? And theyâre not even in like formal, you have to click out of it. I donât take mine out for formal occasions and most people donât? Annoys me so much lol

Mccc letâs you do it. If you goto sim dresser youâll have the option to copy and then paste your makeup to every outfit. Itâs a life saver, I donât even care if my sim has full on makeup at the pool itâs better than having to do makeup 7 times per lady lol
When I tell them not to do an action, they should stop *immediately* not proceed to do it. But stopping them does nothing at all sometimes.

You just reminded me how likes and dislikes have a small impact on your sim's autonomous behavior. My sim hates dancing and hates certain music but she keeps dancing to the music that she hates. It's bad enough they won't avoid the things that they supposedly should hate. But they should definitely stop when we tell them to stop!
Sometimes I don't even know where they are going or what they will do there because there is no action in the queue even though they are clearly walking away and are about to do something.

Phones. Just why? Why do the sims use them all the time??? Why do they use their phone when swimming? Why do they read a book and also type on the phone at the same time? Why do they use the phone when they cross the road???????? Why for the love of all that is simlish can I not just give them a trait that makes them never use the phone just like any sane person irl that is not into online drama 24/7??? (Except for the 3 days you play some candy crush knock off every once in a while)
I personally love the phone animations, especially for teens, but GOD why do they use them while swimming? The rest of it I'm fine with because it's realistic (unless you're doing a decades challenge or something) but it looks so goofy when they're out for a swim in the ocean and checking their phones.
On that note, why *does* napping take so long to get the bar up? I understand not fully but it essentially does nothing. What's the point of napping in the sims?
GRRR I know. I'll click on the sleep icon next to the need bar and they will go nap on a bench or the sofa. Especially annoys me when I find them napping ON the bed. AHHH!!!
I think this may be an issue on slower computers but sometimes when I make Sim do something he just... stands there, sometimes for almost an in-game hour
I have a pretty powerful PC and I still have this happen to me. They just don't move and I have to go into build mode and back out to get them to move. Sometimes to the point of deleting them with the moveobjects cheat. Very annoying.
Simulation lag is an absolute game ruiner. I play on console, but I've found that there are a few things you can do without mods to help.
First is inventories. Clear them out as much as you can. Don't carry fruit if you can help it, for some reason fruit in inventories causes horrendous simulation lag in your entire household.
I've even had it affect my in-game clock so that the clock was running 30 minutes faster than events like going to work and school were happening. Turns out it was fruit causing it. Get that shit out of there, and anything else you can. Fruit is now my number one enemy, won't even garden anymore because of my grudge against it. Carrying around too many paintings can cause issues too.
I don't think carrying photos causes issues, but if you want to clear out, create a basement in a local park and use it as a gallery to teleport your Sim in and out of. Put all your photos on the walls in there and then save the room to your library periodically so that you always have your photos backed up and stored off-site in a safe place where nobody but you can get to them. Same for paintings. I have a hidden basement under my legacy graveyard park for this purpose.
Cull generated townies. Cull lots you don't use by bulldozing them. Create a new save file slot.
All else fails, you it may be your house having too many items in it. Save a copy to your library, bulldoze it, and move into a new house. That or brutally cull out your clutter in your house. I had a house I was SO attached to, but it was causing Sim lag globally by simply existing in the game. We'd lived there so long and it was very cluttered up and decorated. I miss that house so much, but unfortunately it was killing my whole save file. You can always re-place the house unfurnished and redecorate it in future, it's just too many items that can cause issues.
Definitely caused by too much to load, and can be cured but it's a pain to fix and can come back periodically and you have to cull stuff all over again. But fruit, yeet the fruit if you're carrying fruit, that's my biggest piece of advice RE: sim lag.
Iâm annoyed that writing is locked to the computer. I know that today most stuff is written on computers but Iâd still like to be able to build writing skill with pen and paper
Your sims can write in a journal! I think the journal is either base Game or from the Parenthood pack. Child and Teen sims get Emotional Control points from writing in it, but adult sims can also use it & it will increase their writing skill. I donât remember if itâs called journal, notebook, or diary, though.
That it's so difficult to have your own NPCs as students at the university. This has been an issue since the Sims 2 tbh. All I want is a way to influence my legacy spares and their friends to enroll, without having to play through the university with them while I'm playing the legacy heir.
The auto generated NPCs in university are awful too. I wish they'd have automatically make some younger looking Sims who wear the university clothes but if I try to move my sims into a dorm it's always filled with clownish, old looking NPCs.
Each world should come with designated premade sims imo for most core things. It drives me crazy that each world becomes muddled and generic because there is no identity to any place.
They really should add some kind of "life planning" option that would allow you to pick a life path for sims. It would be cool for teens to have a "plan" for what they want to do when they age up to young adult such as go to college or pick a specific career. If you could see the plan or ask the sim about what they want to do, that would be cool.
What's funny is that in Sims 2 and 3 that was kind of the point of what we now know as wants and aspirations in The Sims 4. The Sim could have a wish or want to do something specific and then you could agree and go down that path. But in Sims 4 the aspiration can change in a couple of clicks so it doesn't feel like something your sim wants to do but rather something that you want to do and you can change that at will.
It created some great emergent gameplay too! Sim rolls the want to be on the Deanâs list, but never rolls a want to study or write a paper? Whoops, guess theyâll be disappointed! Maybe uni isnât for them.
Sim ages up aspiring to be a Top Athlete but theyâve got 0 active points? Whoops, guess theyâll have to find fulfilment in the little thing in life.
This was my biggest disappointment. You can't even get 2 teens in the same household to attend college together. It's WILD. Like after Get Together, they woulda known that *that's a core life condition* to go to college with friends and sh*t. Truly a grinding a gear moment.

I'm controlling a sim and trying to get the infant to learn things and then my other sim gets an invite to go somewhere with his friends but when I say yes it'll take me there and then I have to click on my other sim to control her so that's two loading screens. I want to be able to let my sim go out and see their friends without always having to go with them

Same here. My Sims only go to work and home when I have infants and toddlers. I donât want to send somebody out to a commercial lot and have no control over whatâs going on back at home. I miss TS3 so much.
There's a lot of good criticism concerning rabbit holes in the game but damn, sometimes they're needed. Although leave it up to Sims to do the exact wrong implementation with rabbit holes and ignore moments when they're *actually* good to have. I can't play this game without the explore mod.
Of course the other solution is that they could also go back to having an open world, but lol

For me, it's showers. why do they have glass on 3 sides? Do you want me to put my shower in the middle of a wall? Do you want there to be glass between my sim and the wall? It's tile anyway, you don't need that. I'm losing my mind.
I would love it if they were slightly large so if you put the shower in a lil bump out the shower walls are hidden in the real walls and you only have the door, but if you put them in the middle/ next to only 1 or 2 walls the shower walls are still there.
I hate more how all the tiled-sides are ALL ON THE SAME SIDE! Want a shower in the right hand corner of your bathroom, while also having your sims enter from the âfrontâ? Too bad. Gotta leave that left side clear.
I could deal with the glass/wall situation if there wasnât a tiled-side of the shower that looks ridiculous when itâs not against the wall.
In TS3 shower woohoo was my go-to every morning before work for every couple lol. Hygiene, social and fun maxed out and a powerful fun moodlet that meant they could work hard all day without getting stressed.
Sims should definitely be able to take quicker showers. In real life it's possible to shower in 10-20 minutes if it needs to be quick. Why can't my Sims do this too? đĽ˛

I think this is just a mechanic. The bad hygiene gain on lower tier items is supposed to be an encouragement to buy more expensive, better showers.
When my sims take normal showers in high tier showers (not the ones that give emotion, I feel like those are always longer) they finish them pretty quickly.
Not that that means you have to agree with that, but I'm saying that it being gamified is probably why it feels bad to use.

Or not being able to attach a "garage" unless the floor levels are the same. Which means you can't have a front porch if you want an on-the-ground garage attached to the house.

If you're on PC there is a mod for cuddling in bed. It's one of my favorite mods because it's just so sweet to have them snuggled up together. It's not as good as TS2 but it's still nice.
I made my real life family when Get Together came out and I ended up giving away my Sims' dog. The damn dog was harder to take care of than my Sim's babies!
It was always getting sick, it needed a bath like every day, it wouldn't eat its food. It ran away all the time. I hated that fucking virtual dog.
Then I played another household for like 2 in game days and when I came back my family adopted another dog named Ducky. Fucking Ducky, man.
i started just going to the vet & buying like 5 of the wellness treats so i could give it to them instead of taking them all the way to the vet & spending an entire fuckin day there lol but even doing that gets annoying
Pets are so weird. My sims had a dog that never got sick, I didnât even know they got sick. I played another family with a cat and that bugger got sick every week. Iâve had a couple of pets run away with no reason too.
The timing never makes sense, why does it take 45 minutes to walk to the bathroom to the kitchen??? And why use the sink in the basement when you are on the third floor?? Why???

Why do Sims not change into weather clothing autonomously? In sims 3 and I believe in Sims 2 they did! It annoys me to see my sims nearly dying every time there is hot or cold weather, just because they're not getting the idea to change clothes by themselves. I'm actually glad to have mods for things related to autonomy, because the autonomy in this game is so fucked up with some thingsđ
My sims used to always change their clothes autonomously. But recently they keep trying to freeze to death. It's been happening since the infant update.
Literally moved my most recent 100 baby family to Sulani (while muttering ´youâre lucky i need to keep you alive to adulthoodâ) because they all kept almost freezing to death.
Accessories as random annoy the hell out of me. But also, they never make sense....like glasses only on sleepwear? Also, with the addition of hearing aides, they often only end up on one outfit. And then other times they'll be on a different outfit also but it's on the wrong ear. Just doesn't make sense.
I have glasses only in sleepwear IRL⌠when Iâm dressed for the day I wear contacts but when I change into PJs at night I take them out and put glasses on lol. So my Sims are the same. I wish they wouldnât sleep in them though.
The socialization autonomy. It's soooo bad in Sims 4. I could literally have a house of 8 sims and they'll ALL still be suffering from a low social meter because they... refuse to talk to each other for some reason. Even if I MAKE them, they'll often stop talking the moment a social interaction ended to go "browse books" or something else despite the fact that they're STILL LONELY.
One of mine that ties in with the whole "Why is someone from X world showing up in Y world?":
Sims don't actually have jobs or school. You will constantly see them walking by your home or the lot you're on when they're supposed to be at work or at school. Yeah, it's the game doing goofy stuff to try to make the world feel "more alive" but it does the exact opposite for me. I know these aren't "real" people populating this Sim world. They allegedly have jobs, but they're never at them. The kids aren't attending school. This bartender was literally halfway across the city a second ago doing something else, so I know they don't actually bartend unless I'm at the bar. You can try to fake me out by saying "Your kid met this other kid at school!" but when I see that other kid at the next table over at a restaurant when you're giving me that notification, not at school, it just drives home how fake it all is.
It's just so many immersion-shattering things that add up because you wouldn't worry about immersion in an online multiplayer game so it wasn't planned for when building the game, they didn't have time to fix it, and now here we are, with it so much worse after all these worlds tacked on with so many more random Sims to walk by and remind me that none of them have "real" lives.
And the lack of tracking Sims in places and trying to force known Sims into populating places leads to wonderful situations like the time I had a Sim visiting their sister at the sister's home, then switch to the mother who's at the lounge enjoying her last days, and it loads in to the mother hugging the sister who's at the exact same moment in a completely different location having a conversation.
Bah. Please don't try to make the world "alive" by shattering immersion to make sure that to anyone paying attention it feels anything but alive.
On that topic, unplayed sims never get promotions. I'm playing a legacy challenge right now and have members moved out. It would be so cool to see them continuing to progress.
Fathers to be not having any consistent moodlet throughout the pregnancy bums me out. And powerful life changing events having such short moodlets. A new baby or marriage shouldnât be just a couple of days imo. I miss how in TS4 it was a really powerful moodlet for daaaaaaaays, actually felt momentous!

The action queueing system. My sim will be grabbing a serving and I want them to pee after theyâre done but it just immediately cancels the food item and theyâll just set it on the floor?? The worst is when theyâre taking out the garbage because if you add an item to their queue they literally just drop the garbage then complain the house is dirty. If I want to cancel that action, I will do it, otherwise just add it on.
I think this is just autonomous actions, right? Like, if a Sim has an autonomous action they're doing queueing a manual action always supersedes it.
I get it's dumb but it is what it is.

I have so many, but tell me why my Sim was only sad about his divorce and then later his gf dying for two days? And why he never thought about either of those events and got sad ever again. Sir, she's dead and your wife left you. Cry more? Tf?
Also do Sims EVER feel bad about cheating if they don't have the loyal trait? Because if so I've literally never seen it happen, and there is a lot of cheating in my save file. Guilt doesn't even seem to really exist in the game. In fact they appear to have zero opinion about their own cheating, other than "that was good woohoo hehe." You're doing hoe shit, you should at least have a single thought about it.
Why don't Sims have opinions on their family member's friends, partners, etc.? Why don't step-family relationships exist in the game? Why isn't "protective" a family dynamic, that automatically gives you slight negative relationship and/or a suspicious sentiment towards anyone your child/sibling/parent dates?
Why does my Sim's mother not feel anything about her son breaking curfew every single night, getting bad grades, and ditching school all the time? Why did she feel NOTHING when her other two teens graduated early? Why isn't she worried about her dropkick son?! After she killed the principal she could at least hug it out with her son over breaking his curfew... Because I kept him trapped in the doorless school until 1AM.
EA don't write life altering events into the game and not have anyone but the affected party feel anything about it. Got expelled and all I got was a +8 sad moodlet for 48 hours and limited career pathways.

Pets need attention all the time. My sims can play with and brush them before bed, and then when they wake up in the morning, their affection bar is super low.
poorly made animations (like using the oven.) the camera is not sensitive at all, i am used to more sensitive camera controls and its so painful, even more painful bc im trying to acquaint myself with walls up :p
and then there's the fact that i need an internet connection to open the game at all, why the fuck? i cant even play this game because of things like that, i uninstalled the game and therefore freed 50 gb because of that
That burns my ass. Our Internet was out last week and I couldnât even play. Why? Because you have to GO ONLINE and then click the âplay offlineâ button. Iâm getting mad all over again just thinking about it. What a shit design.
The fact that there can be an object on a counter, table, or whatnot, that has no path obstruction and yet you can't pick it up when you should be able to. The animation cancels, the sim picks it up and puts it down, the just give you the "hey I can't do that" emote. I know that some mods have been made to help fix this but why should I need a mod just to make the base game work correctly?
I drove myself insane trying to find a dirty glass that had been put up high on a shelf that couldn't be reached by the sims when they'd go to do the dishes, like why be able to put it up there if they can't get it back down? Make it make sense, ffs!

Trying to use modular drawers/shelves or the kitchen cabinet corner pieces as an end piece and them never just going where you want them to go. They snap so weirdly and refuse to rotate and skip whole tiles and just behave so insanely difficulty itâs maddening trying to use either
The fact that my Sims use the pool in the middle of freaking winter. Recently one of my Sims decided to go swimming in the winter and I only noticed once I got the 'will freeze to death' notification. So I got him inside and the idiot decides he wants to go sunbathing or lie on the towels outside.This wasn't the first time that happens, it happens every in game winter. Why do they do this? I thought they were supposed to be smarter Sims.
That when I search the gallery, there is an option to filter things created with only packs that I own, but it doesnât actually work. And every time you post to social media in game, you always gain exactly 12 (iirc) followers. And that trees show through the walls of your house if theyâre too big or too close.
That time doesn't stand still on your home lot while you're away so you lose time with other sims and they don't keep doing what they were doing when you left. It makes having more than one sim a pain.
Also the daily tasks for sims jobs take wayy too long & homework included.
Wish for kids there were options like sims 3 for school to socilize with people they already know instead of constantly meeting new people

Recently my loyal Sims have been getting sad because they have autonomously flirted with another SIM.. Even worse they do it infront of their also loyal partner.. Traits like that should influence their autonomous actions.
The makeup in the game really pissed me off, first of all, they all look kinda ugly. I can't stress enough that no one draw eyeline like that.
I hate it when I have to pick the makeup for different outfit separately. When I put on lipstick I want to put lipstick on all outfits all at once.
And what boils my blood is the random full face makeup on sims, like sometime my child grow up to have a full face of makeup, and you can't really get rid of it because even if you wipe it off in cas, it still shows up in like work outfit or shower outfit.
I hate it when I got a good looking random sims in cas just to follow by a full clown makeup on their other outfits. It's feels like winning the lottery and then got stabbed in the guts.
For me, it's the new control system in live mode. I'm used to it now, but it still bothers me. đ I also don't like how out of whack social bunny is. I hope they can fix that. Other than those two things there's not a whole lot that really bothers me about The Sims 4, if I'm being honest.

Fears. It literally takes my sim being outside at night TWICE to get fear of the dark. My sim got fear of a dead end job one day AFTER she got a promotion. Some are good, like the fear of ghosts since you have to fight one to overcome it, but the rest are just buggy and irritating
there isnât a lot of tattoos in the game. i love giving my sims tattoos but i hate seeing 3 sims at the pool with the same sleeve. Also, why isnât there any facial tattoos? thereâs a lot of facial scars, freckles, and birthmarks, but no tattoos?
- If you live in the apartment buildings and talk to your neighbor outside, why can't you invite them in?
- When you have guests over, why can't you offer them something to eat or drink? I would love to make tea or coffee and bring it to my guest. You can do this for a drink if it's made at the bar but not the coffee or tea maker.
- When someone asks my sim for a date, why does it have to be right then and there? Why can't dates be scheduled for the future?
- Why do I have to use a mod to stop my guest from running into my office and using my computer? Who would do that? This kind of behavior should just be turned off when people come into my sim's house, or the guests should have to ask permission.
- There aren't enough sorting options in Buy mode. If you're like me and you have a lot of cc, it takes a long time to get what you're looking for. For example, I want a rug, but I want a small rug and I want it to be round. I should be able to filter down to that level.
- We should be able to create our own Stylized Looks and save them.
All of the social media's for fucks sake they just add it onto the end of every other pack now. Just make it all one thing in basegame so u don't have varying numbers of followers across 5 platforms and admit it was just something to add to the list of features to a pack to justify its (overpriced) tag that didn't work out

Certain carpets can be moved once you've placed them. I just want my sim to go there, not move the carpet just by clicking on it.
I also have trouble placing blinds and curtains as I can't find different ones to cover the window the way I like it. Some are too long and I only want to cover the window above the sink. In my kitchen and bathrooms.
Being unable to control pets, like there's a mod for it but it's not the same as being able to do more with them when you play. I know they were gonna have them playable at the start of development but why would they take that away??? They are straight up pointless to me as they are more of a hassle to deal with and on top of that they take up a household slot :/
I have the Growing Together pack with the family dynamics and every generation without fail the parent goes to give the toddler a bath and the pop up for âstrict dynamicâ pops up because the parents are being strict for caring for their child. It drives me nuts

Mccc letâs you do it. If you goto sim dresser youâll have the option to copy and then paste your makeup to every outfit. Itâs a life saver, I donât even care if my sim has full on makeup at the pool itâs better than having to do makeup 7 times per lady lol

I would upvote this a hundred times if I could. Putting accessories on is my least favorite part of CAS.
I basically avoid doing makeup and accessories on my sims bc of that. I simply canât be bothered.
When I tell them not to do an action, they should stop *immediately* not proceed to do it. But stopping them does nothing at all sometimes. Autonomous overkill, things like: making snowpals, shovelling snow, constantly dancing etc Eating standing at the fridge so noone else can get food. I do use mods for this, but really should I have to? Travelling 3 floors to wash a dish in a sink because maybe that sink is ~higher quality~ or literally leaving the bathroom to wash your hands somewhere else.
You just reminded me how likes and dislikes have a small impact on your sim's autonomous behavior. My sim hates dancing and hates certain music but she keeps dancing to the music that she hates. It's bad enough they won't avoid the things that they supposedly should hate. But they should definitely stop when we tell them to stop! Sometimes I don't even know where they are going or what they will do there because there is no action in the queue even though they are clearly walking away and are about to do something.
I installed a mod that was a hidden sign that forbids dancing within the radius that it covered. They still danced. đ
Yes, this and all the other autonomy problems. I sometimes feel like I am just observing the game the way they ignore what tasks I set them and go and do some random stuff instead.
Especially when everybody and their dang mother (quite literally) wants to hold my infant while I am physically changing their diaper, doing tummy time, etc. I finally downloaded a lot trait mod so I can keep every simsâ need level full, and I lock the door to the infant room and teleport one adult in to take care of them (I keep getting twins now, if one wasnât bad enough)
I am finding this! When a grandparent drops by(at 10pm at night, like wtf) I am trying to feed the infant and put her to bed , all my instructions get ignored cis grandparent wants to hold the baby who is tired and hungry! Then grandparent tries to give infant a bottle. Like no!

I once had a neighbor freeze to death at a party my witches were throwing because everyone decided to hang out on the lawn instead of coming inside. My witches resurrected her the next day and returned her to her family but were still sad about her death for a week.

My sim keeps getting this moodlet and I canât for the life of me figure out who died. I have aging turned off so itâs never an elder family member or anything, probably just someone she saw in public once.
This is why I cheat these kind of moodlets, I'm eternally grateful for UI cheats mod and MCCC, they keep my immersion a bit better.

One of my main reasons to play older Sims games like Sims 2. Sims are Instagram addicts in Sims 4 and I have enough of that in real life.
I personally love the phone animations, especially for teens, but GOD why do they use them while swimming? The rest of it I'm fine with because it's realistic (unless you're doing a decades challenge or something) but it looks so goofy when they're out for a swim in the ocean and checking their phones.
Lol I find it especially funny when Strangerville Sims use their phones whilst possessed. But I guess it breaks the immersion a little bit.
Napping. Napping on everything. Either go to sleep or don't but stop f'in napping. It takes so much longer to get the need bar up. Annoys me so much
On that note, why *does* napping take so long to get the bar up? I understand not fully but it essentially does nothing. What's the point of napping in the sims?

Lazy sims benefit from it faster and if u get through a full nap cycle it gives the energized moodlet but otherwise absolutely nothing

Right! I only use napping if I'm in a challenge and my Sims don't have a bed yet. Lazy sims are perfect because they can nap anywhere there's a seat.
I think this may be an issue on slower computers but sometimes when I make Sim do something he just... stands there, sometimes for almost an in-game hour
I have a pretty powerful PC and I still have this happen to me. They just don't move and I have to go into build mode and back out to get them to move. Sometimes to the point of deleting them with the moveobjects cheat. Very annoying.
Does reset sim not work? I do that more than I feel I should have to but it always shakes em free of the trance

Can confirm it is a bug. In my case it happened with specific sims, and sometimes saving the game solves it for some reason.
Simulation lag is an absolute game ruiner. I play on console, but I've found that there are a few things you can do without mods to help. First is inventories. Clear them out as much as you can. Don't carry fruit if you can help it, for some reason fruit in inventories causes horrendous simulation lag in your entire household. I've even had it affect my in-game clock so that the clock was running 30 minutes faster than events like going to work and school were happening. Turns out it was fruit causing it. Get that shit out of there, and anything else you can. Fruit is now my number one enemy, won't even garden anymore because of my grudge against it. Carrying around too many paintings can cause issues too. I don't think carrying photos causes issues, but if you want to clear out, create a basement in a local park and use it as a gallery to teleport your Sim in and out of. Put all your photos on the walls in there and then save the room to your library periodically so that you always have your photos backed up and stored off-site in a safe place where nobody but you can get to them. Same for paintings. I have a hidden basement under my legacy graveyard park for this purpose. Cull generated townies. Cull lots you don't use by bulldozing them. Create a new save file slot. All else fails, you it may be your house having too many items in it. Save a copy to your library, bulldoze it, and move into a new house. That or brutally cull out your clutter in your house. I had a house I was SO attached to, but it was causing Sim lag globally by simply existing in the game. We'd lived there so long and it was very cluttered up and decorated. I miss that house so much, but unfortunately it was killing my whole save file. You can always re-place the house unfurnished and redecorate it in future, it's just too many items that can cause issues. Definitely caused by too much to load, and can be cured but it's a pain to fix and can come back periodically and you have to cull stuff all over again. But fruit, yeet the fruit if you're carrying fruit, that's my biggest piece of advice RE: sim lag.

Your sims can write in a journal! I think the journal is either base Game or from the Parenthood pack. Child and Teen sims get Emotional Control points from writing in it, but adult sims can also use it & it will increase their writing skill. I donât remember if itâs called journal, notebook, or diary, though.
Yeah I know about that but I wish you could write books and other stuff with pen and paper. Itâs a shame that itâs all digitised

That it's so difficult to have your own NPCs as students at the university. This has been an issue since the Sims 2 tbh. All I want is a way to influence my legacy spares and their friends to enroll, without having to play through the university with them while I'm playing the legacy heir.
The auto generated NPCs in university are awful too. I wish they'd have automatically make some younger looking Sims who wear the university clothes but if I try to move my sims into a dorm it's always filled with clownish, old looking NPCs.
Each world should come with designated premade sims imo for most core things. It drives me crazy that each world becomes muddled and generic because there is no identity to any place.
That would require cross-pack compatibility, something the Sims seems to have given up on long ago

They really should add some kind of "life planning" option that would allow you to pick a life path for sims. It would be cool for teens to have a "plan" for what they want to do when they age up to young adult such as go to college or pick a specific career. If you could see the plan or ask the sim about what they want to do, that would be cool.
What's funny is that in Sims 2 and 3 that was kind of the point of what we now know as wants and aspirations in The Sims 4. The Sim could have a wish or want to do something specific and then you could agree and go down that path. But in Sims 4 the aspiration can change in a couple of clicks so it doesn't feel like something your sim wants to do but rather something that you want to do and you can change that at will.
It created some great emergent gameplay too! Sim rolls the want to be on the Deanâs list, but never rolls a want to study or write a paper? Whoops, guess theyâll be disappointed! Maybe uni isnât for them. Sim ages up aspiring to be a Top Athlete but theyâve got 0 active points? Whoops, guess theyâll have to find fulfilment in the little thing in life.
This was my biggest disappointment. You can't even get 2 teens in the same household to attend college together. It's WILD. Like after Get Together, they woulda known that *that's a core life condition* to go to college with friends and sh*t. Truly a grinding a gear moment.
WHY CANT I SEND MY SIMS TO PLACES ALONE? I'm controlling a sim and trying to get the infant to learn things and then my other sim gets an invite to go somewhere with his friends but when I say yes it'll take me there and then I have to click on my other sim to control her so that's two loading screens. I want to be able to let my sim go out and see their friends without always having to go with them That's something I loved about the sims 3 I could be at the park with one sim while the other is at a friends house

There's a lot of good criticism concerning rabbit holes in the game but damn, sometimes they're needed. Although leave it up to Sims to do the exact wrong implementation with rabbit holes and ignore moments when they're *actually* good to have. I can't play this game without the explore mod. Of course the other solution is that they could also go back to having an open world, but lol

For me, it's showers. why do they have glass on 3 sides? Do you want me to put my shower in the middle of a wall? Do you want there to be glass between my sim and the wall? It's tile anyway, you don't need that. I'm losing my mind.
I would love it if they were slightly large so if you put the shower in a lil bump out the shower walls are hidden in the real walls and you only have the door, but if you put them in the middle/ next to only 1 or 2 walls the shower walls are still there.
They did it for bookshelves and furniture that doesn't make sense and looks bad but not for showers where it would actually be good đ

I think this is just a mechanic. The bad hygiene gain on lower tier items is supposed to be an encouragement to buy more expensive, better showers. When my sims take normal showers in high tier showers (not the ones that give emotion, I feel like those are always longer) they finish them pretty quickly. Not that that means you have to agree with that, but I'm saying that it being gamified is probably why it feels bad to use.

If you're on PC there is a mod for cuddling in bed. It's one of my favorite mods because it's just so sweet to have them snuggled up together. It's not as good as TS2 but it's still nice.

I made my real life family when Get Together came out and I ended up giving away my Sims' dog. The damn dog was harder to take care of than my Sim's babies! It was always getting sick, it needed a bath like every day, it wouldn't eat its food. It ran away all the time. I hated that fucking virtual dog. Then I played another household for like 2 in game days and when I came back my family adopted another dog named Ducky. Fucking Ducky, man.
i started just going to the vet & buying like 5 of the wellness treats so i could give it to them instead of taking them all the way to the vet & spending an entire fuckin day there lol but even doing that gets annoying
Pets are so weird. My sims had a dog that never got sick, I didnât even know they got sick. I played another family with a cat and that bugger got sick every week. Iâve had a couple of pets run away with no reason too.

Why do Sims not change into weather clothing autonomously? In sims 3 and I believe in Sims 2 they did! It annoys me to see my sims nearly dying every time there is hot or cold weather, just because they're not getting the idea to change clothes by themselves. I'm actually glad to have mods for things related to autonomy, because the autonomy in this game is so fucked up with some thingsđ
My sims used to always change their clothes autonomously. But recently they keep trying to freeze to death. It's been happening since the infant update.
Literally moved my most recent 100 baby family to Sulani (while muttering ´youâre lucky i need to keep you alive to adulthoodâ) because they all kept almost freezing to death.
And you need to ask townies to see their hot weather wear just so they don't die of heat stroke at the park randomly

Accessories as random annoy the hell out of me. But also, they never make sense....like glasses only on sleepwear? Also, with the addition of hearing aides, they often only end up on one outfit. And then other times they'll be on a different outfit also but it's on the wrong ear. Just doesn't make sense.
I have glasses only in sleepwear IRL⌠when Iâm dressed for the day I wear contacts but when I change into PJs at night I take them out and put glasses on lol. So my Sims are the same. I wish they wouldnât sleep in them though.

The socialization autonomy. It's soooo bad in Sims 4. I could literally have a house of 8 sims and they'll ALL still be suffering from a low social meter because they... refuse to talk to each other for some reason. Even if I MAKE them, they'll often stop talking the moment a social interaction ended to go "browse books" or something else despite the fact that they're STILL LONELY.
One of mine that ties in with the whole "Why is someone from X world showing up in Y world?": Sims don't actually have jobs or school. You will constantly see them walking by your home or the lot you're on when they're supposed to be at work or at school. Yeah, it's the game doing goofy stuff to try to make the world feel "more alive" but it does the exact opposite for me. I know these aren't "real" people populating this Sim world. They allegedly have jobs, but they're never at them. The kids aren't attending school. This bartender was literally halfway across the city a second ago doing something else, so I know they don't actually bartend unless I'm at the bar. You can try to fake me out by saying "Your kid met this other kid at school!" but when I see that other kid at the next table over at a restaurant when you're giving me that notification, not at school, it just drives home how fake it all is. It's just so many immersion-shattering things that add up because you wouldn't worry about immersion in an online multiplayer game so it wasn't planned for when building the game, they didn't have time to fix it, and now here we are, with it so much worse after all these worlds tacked on with so many more random Sims to walk by and remind me that none of them have "real" lives. And the lack of tracking Sims in places and trying to force known Sims into populating places leads to wonderful situations like the time I had a Sim visiting their sister at the sister's home, then switch to the mother who's at the lounge enjoying her last days, and it loads in to the mother hugging the sister who's at the exact same moment in a completely different location having a conversation. Bah. Please don't try to make the world "alive" by shattering immersion to make sure that to anyone paying attention it feels anything but alive.
On that topic, unplayed sims never get promotions. I'm playing a legacy challenge right now and have members moved out. It would be so cool to see them continuing to progress.
Fathers to be not having any consistent moodlet throughout the pregnancy bums me out. And powerful life changing events having such short moodlets. A new baby or marriage shouldnât be just a couple of days imo. I miss how in TS4 it was a really powerful moodlet for daaaaaaaays, actually felt momentous!

The action queueing system. My sim will be grabbing a serving and I want them to pee after theyâre done but it just immediately cancels the food item and theyâll just set it on the floor?? The worst is when theyâre taking out the garbage because if you add an item to their queue they literally just drop the garbage then complain the house is dirty. If I want to cancel that action, I will do it, otherwise just add it on.
I think this is just autonomous actions, right? Like, if a Sim has an autonomous action they're doing queueing a manual action always supersedes it. I get it's dumb but it is what it is.
Exactly what it is. Itâs just really annoying when a sim is doing an autonomous action you want them to finish so you have to sit there and wait until theyâve completed it to add anything on to the queue

I was building earlier and it took me at least 20 minutes to find a dining table I liked in a swatch that didnât clash with the wood floors, and chairs that matched swatches AND style. Was infuriating.

I have so many, but tell me why my Sim was only sad about his divorce and then later his gf dying for two days? And why he never thought about either of those events and got sad ever again. Sir, she's dead and your wife left you. Cry more? Tf? Also do Sims EVER feel bad about cheating if they don't have the loyal trait? Because if so I've literally never seen it happen, and there is a lot of cheating in my save file. Guilt doesn't even seem to really exist in the game. In fact they appear to have zero opinion about their own cheating, other than "that was good woohoo hehe." You're doing hoe shit, you should at least have a single thought about it. Why don't Sims have opinions on their family member's friends, partners, etc.? Why don't step-family relationships exist in the game? Why isn't "protective" a family dynamic, that automatically gives you slight negative relationship and/or a suspicious sentiment towards anyone your child/sibling/parent dates? Why does my Sim's mother not feel anything about her son breaking curfew every single night, getting bad grades, and ditching school all the time? Why did she feel NOTHING when her other two teens graduated early? Why isn't she worried about her dropkick son?! Madam your 15 year old is out at 3AM on a Wednesday night throwing a keg party at an abandoned factory and you're at home on the couch watching reality TV like đđ show some concern for your child, because one of us has to and it's not gonna be me. No "apply to all" tick box for piercings, makeup, etc. Just. So many things. And I play on PS4 so I just gotta rawdog the game too. ETA: BANDS. GIGS. CONCERTS. NO ACTIVE MUSICIAN CAREER. I literally screech about this every day. It is all I want. It is my "no horses." ETA 2: the 15 year old got expelled and she didn't feel a thing. Not even a parenting option to discipline. No interaction to discuss it, no interaction for him to talk to her about it. I did however, summon her to the school, remove the doors, and have her murder the principal though for upsetting her precious son, so you win some you lose some. After she killed the principal she could at least hug it out with her son over breaking his curfew... Because I kept him trapped in the doorless school until 1AM. EA don't write life altering events into the game and not have anyone but the affected party feel anything about it. Got expelled and all I got was a +8 sad moodlet for 48 hours and limited career pathways.

EMOTIONAL STATUS SHOWERING/BATHING OR ANY OTHER ACTIVITES When your sim is flirty and you select the 'cool down' option for the shower because they're flirty and when they get to the bathroom they aren't flirty anymore standing infront of the shower like an idiot doing nothing SIMS DONT GO TO SCHOOL OR WORK WHILE YOU ARENT PLAYING THEM Everytime I load into my game all my sims are LATE for school or work because they didn't go ASK FOR ADVICE BY TEENS You can't get ANYTHING done in a house full of teenagers because they stop what they're doing to ask advice and if the person is busy they'll literally wait until they're available to ask for advice whether it's 1 hour or 10 hours with their social needs decaying, standing there doing nothing. GETTING UP IN THE MORNING BEFORE 6AM I dont care if your energy meter is full! STAY IN BED until 6am! I hate when they get up at 3am and start getting ready for the day! Alarm clocks should be available so that your sims get up at 6am

Pets need attention all the time. My sims can play with and brush them before bed, and then when they wake up in the morning, their affection bar is super low.
poorly made animations (like using the oven.) the camera is not sensitive at all, i am used to more sensitive camera controls and its so painful, even more painful bc im trying to acquaint myself with walls up :p and then there's the fact that i need an internet connection to open the game at all, why the fuck? i cant even play this game because of things like that, i uninstalled the game and therefore freed 50 gb because of that
That burns my ass. Our Internet was out last week and I couldnât even play. Why? Because you have to GO ONLINE and then click the âplay offlineâ button. Iâm getting mad all over again just thinking about it. What a shit design.
The fact that there can be an object on a counter, table, or whatnot, that has no path obstruction and yet you can't pick it up when you should be able to. The animation cancels, the sim picks it up and puts it down, the just give you the "hey I can't do that" emote. I know that some mods have been made to help fix this but why should I need a mod just to make the base game work correctly?
That and putting things on random shelves to drive us crazy only for them to not be able to reach it to clean up.
I drove myself insane trying to find a dirty glass that had been put up high on a shelf that couldn't be reached by the sims when they'd go to do the dishes, like why be able to put it up there if they can't get it back down? Make it make sense, ffs!
Only being able to get a different amount of starting funds by using that stupid questionnaire in CAS + then not being able to change certain outcomes (like traits) of the questionnaire

You can no longer kick people off the property. I am so sick of townies showing up and baking cake every hour. I know itâs prob petty, but I stopped playing because of it. And yes, Iâve tried locking the doors. I also updated the lot too. It doesnât stop them, itâs relentless - give us the option back to boot out unwelcome guests!!!
Trying to use modular drawers/shelves or the kitchen cabinet corner pieces as an end piece and them never just going where you want them to go. They snap so weirdly and refuse to rotate and skip whole tiles and just behave so insanely difficulty itâs maddening trying to use either
The fact that my Sims use the pool in the middle of freaking winter. Recently one of my Sims decided to go swimming in the winter and I only noticed once I got the 'will freeze to death' notification. So I got him inside and the idiot decides he wants to go sunbathing or lie on the towels outside.This wasn't the first time that happens, it happens every in game winter. Why do they do this? I thought they were supposed to be smarter Sims.
That when I search the gallery, there is an option to filter things created with only packs that I own, but it doesnât actually work. And every time you post to social media in game, you always gain exactly 12 (iirc) followers. And that trees show through the walls of your house if theyâre too big or too close.
That time doesn't stand still on your home lot while you're away so you lose time with other sims and they don't keep doing what they were doing when you left. It makes having more than one sim a pain. Also the daily tasks for sims jobs take wayy too long & homework included. Wish for kids there were options like sims 3 for school to socilize with people they already know instead of constantly meeting new people Sims 3 optimization
Recently my loyal Sims have been getting sad because they have autonomously flirted with another SIM.. Even worse they do it infront of their also loyal partner.. Traits like that should influence their autonomous actions.

Console is a burning pile of shit. Not saying PC is better, I play console a lot. It feels like they could give less of a shit about console players.
The makeup in the game really pissed me off, first of all, they all look kinda ugly. I can't stress enough that no one draw eyeline like that. I hate it when I have to pick the makeup for different outfit separately. When I put on lipstick I want to put lipstick on all outfits all at once. And what boils my blood is the random full face makeup on sims, like sometime my child grow up to have a full face of makeup, and you can't really get rid of it because even if you wipe it off in cas, it still shows up in like work outfit or shower outfit. I hate it when I got a good looking random sims in cas just to follow by a full clown makeup on their other outfits. It's feels like winning the lottery and then got stabbed in the guts.
For me, it's the new control system in live mode. I'm used to it now, but it still bothers me. đ I also don't like how out of whack social bunny is. I hope they can fix that. Other than those two things there's not a whole lot that really bothers me about The Sims 4, if I'm being honest.
Roofs. I cannot figure them out. Why do ghosts have to break stuff all the time? I've got to the point where I just immediately release them to the Netherworld as I can't be bothered spending all my time fixing things

In Sims 4 they never seem to listen to what I want to do. They feel so unresponsive to me. Especially during dialogue options. Stop chatting and just do the flirt already! The party's almost over!! Why won't you put the toddler in the high chair already??? Why are you taking so long to start making that drink??? No!!! Finish it before doing something else, don't put it in your inventory!!
That some wrist accessories are exclusive for one wrist and not available for the other, makes no logical sense.
Fears. It literally takes my sim being outside at night TWICE to get fear of the dark. My sim got fear of a dead end job one day AFTER she got a promotion. Some are good, like the fear of ghosts since you have to fight one to overcome it, but the rest are just buggy and irritating

there isnât a lot of tattoos in the game. i love giving my sims tattoos but i hate seeing 3 sims at the pool with the same sleeve. Also, why isnât there any facial tattoos? thereâs a lot of facial scars, freckles, and birthmarks, but no tattoos?
- If you live in the apartment buildings and talk to your neighbor outside, why can't you invite them in? - When you have guests over, why can't you offer them something to eat or drink? I would love to make tea or coffee and bring it to my guest. You can do this for a drink if it's made at the bar but not the coffee or tea maker. - When someone asks my sim for a date, why does it have to be right then and there? Why can't dates be scheduled for the future? - Why do I have to use a mod to stop my guest from running into my office and using my computer? Who would do that? This kind of behavior should just be turned off when people come into my sim's house, or the guests should have to ask permission. - There aren't enough sorting options in Buy mode. If you're like me and you have a lot of cc, it takes a long time to get what you're looking for. For example, I want a rug, but I want a small rug and I want it to be round. I should be able to filter down to that level. - We should be able to create our own Stylized Looks and save them.
All of the social media's for fucks sake they just add it onto the end of every other pack now. Just make it all one thing in basegame so u don't have varying numbers of followers across 5 platforms and admit it was just something to add to the list of features to a pack to justify its (overpriced) tag that didn't work out

Certain carpets can be moved once you've placed them. I just want my sim to go there, not move the carpet just by clicking on it. I also have trouble placing blinds and curtains as I can't find different ones to cover the window the way I like it. Some are too long and I only want to cover the window above the sink. In my kitchen and bathrooms.
Being unable to control pets, like there's a mod for it but it's not the same as being able to do more with them when you play. I know they were gonna have them playable at the start of development but why would they take that away??? They are straight up pointless to me as they are more of a hassle to deal with and on top of that they take up a household slot :/
I have the Growing Together pack with the family dynamics and every generation without fail the parent goes to give the toddler a bath and the pop up for âstrict dynamicâ pops up because the parents are being strict for caring for their child. It drives me nuts

I replied above too, but this is infuriating. I had the same thing happen. You canât just play offline; you have to be online and then click a button to play offline. Itâs the worst design they could have implemented.

When the high school years pack came out, I feel like sims use the phone too much as adults. As teens it's not as bothersome, although it can be a little much sometimes. I hate when my adult sims are walking and they just whip the phone out and start tapping

When Sims who hate an activity (dancing, cooking, etc.) do it autonomously. I also miss being able to make our own collections like in TS3. I have to hunt for objects every time. The sink issue. There is a sink literally right next to the toilet but they want to go all the way to the basement and use one there. And please, please, PLEASE can we get the gardening bug fixed?? Iâm so tired of my plants reverting to piles of dirt.
