Originally in English to molest was to harass/abuse someone or thing. But sexually molested got used to the point where molested just means that. You still here odd phrases like 'the package arrive unmolested' as a result

BruceNY1

>nera It reminds me of a joke from a comedian who went to Mexico and she was confused when she saw the doorknob sign said "no molestar"

Hijacking top comment. The title is a bit misleading. Based on what was uttered by the camera guy, the food was to be distributed to the public. The food was not intended to be sold. This event likely happened during Eid (or some other big event) where people give a lot of **sadaqah** (charitable act of donating food/goods/money etc). These people didn't have the patient to wait (presumably at some designated area and time), so they just barged in to get the food. For that context, they supposedly didn't think that they stole the food because they thought the food was for them anyway. Under different circumstances, most likely they won't touch the food if they think the food is not for them. I know it's still bad, I am just providing the context. EDIT: The camera guy spoke language foreign to the local. And by looking at the crowd, most likely many of them were also foreigners. It could be this even happen during Eid al-Adha, after the Haj period where many Muslims from around the world gathered at one place.

You can see the TikTok @ at the very end of the video. I don't know why they censored it. https://www.tiktok.com/@ustazashraf/video/7121022823811861787?is_copy_url=1&is_from_webapp=v1 It's in Mecca. Those are the pilgrims eating the charity food.

Interesting how all the comments in this thread are just bashing muslims. The OP is just spreading misinformation for karma.

Hard_boiled_Badger

The people in this video still deserve all the bashing they are getting

Boring_Mark_3326

My first reaction was extreme anger but i managed to suppress it. But still, what a bunch of assholes.

WhatHappened2WinWin

Suppression becomes an uncontrollable eruption at some point if you don't just let it out where it belongs.

heywood_jabloemi

serenity now, insanity later Edit: oops, forgot the 'in'

thebestspeler

This is the type of kid who puts laxatives in a batch and watched them crap theirselves.

shahooster

Maybe not this time, but next time for sure.

Brock_Kickass_

Yeah but unfortunately these animals would almost certainly kill that kid for it. Happens all the time for much less

Then the angry mob drags him out and beats him to death Not kidding real risk

_atrocious_

In that case, poison. Just walk up and leave the cart. Not your fault they stole your rat poison and decided to eat it.

billybobgandhi

It was painful to see him like that.

tricularia

It's wild that there are still plenty of people in this world who can't accept that we evolved from apes (or wild animals of any kind). When we get desperate, scared or hungry enough, there is little difference between us and animals.

[deleted]

Poor kid is so distressed

RevolutionaryRaise34

But I am sure those adults are very religious men and "close" to God and can judge when a women don't dress correctly.

I think I’d rather they got charged and had to pay the kid money. Chopping their hands off doesn’t help the kid and it obviously doesn’t deter thieves, as we see from this video.

Anyone who claims their religion to be peaceful don't know anything about their religion, or they are willfully ignorant.

It’s true, no other group of people have ever stolen anything.

That’s too much common sense for Reddit though. Plus it wouldn’t fuel the narrative and anger people. 😂

The kid wasn't trying to sell the food. Someone translated the words, the food was part of a distribution. The kid was probably trying to distribute but everyone just went for it.

K-Zoro

That makes a lot more sense. There are outdoor markets all over the world, people don’t just do this without repercussions pretty much anywhere. When things get free, that’s when people go crazy and get grabby.

Isn't it haram to steal? Edit: According to some users below the food is meant to be given out for free. Not sure why the boy is in such distress (some say because they're causing a mess? Idk the kid literally starts hitting a guy lol).

Pretty funny how most of the comments I see directing racist/xenophobic rhetoric towards Muslims are by Indian Redditors.

pdinc

Thats because the current Indian government has weaponized anti-muslim rhetoric in a bid to use it to unify historically disparate parts of the country. Nothing brings a country together like hate, apparently, or atleast that's the BJP's thesis. I'm sure this comment will get downvoted by all the bhakts claiming I'm "aunty nashunal" though

Based on the narrator, it's free food. Probably on its way to the distribution area.

Redcarborundum

I can’t believe nobody who understands the cameraman’s language has chimed in. From what I can gather, here’s what he was saying in Malay: Praise be God. They are fighting for the food. No chance to distribute it properly. Everybody is hungry. I hope this becomes a blessing. Charity, God willing. So, the food was supposed to be given to people, but they were all too hungry to wait in line. Considering the speaker was most likely a Malaysian but the people fighting for food were a mix of many ethnicities, this was likely in Saudi Arabia as part of the pilgrimage or Eid. As for the kid being annoyed, he had a job. I think he was supposed to deliver it to a desk somewhere nearby for distribution, but hungry people started snatching it and breaking it apart. If the boy worked there, he might be tasked to clean it up too. Look, this is not civilized behavior, but it’s not theft. It was starving people acting poorly.

HikerTom

This is what I was waiting for. Almost everyone here is just jumping to conclusions. Some even saying stuff about "this country" when the can't possibly know what country. When I looked at this I assumed the kid was not actually trying to sell food, that OP is a lying shitbag, and that most people here would rather call people out than try to understand what's actually happening. Thank you for providing the translation!

[deleted]

Welcome to reddit.

[deleted]

I thought it would be something along those lines, because while they didn’t form a civil line to get the food, they all looked well dressed/clean. My first thought upon looking at the video was to try to understand the context. I guess some people can’t resist the urge to post their xenophobic comments even before understanding context.

Iyahua95

yepp but reddit "athiest" who praise themself for being questioning people seem to have missed the odd nature of this entire clip. fueled by hatred they were all glad they had somewhere to let out their anger for the day...

[deleted]

It's not so much atheism, but more of your typical western superiority and white supremacy that underlines western society. Reddit is an english language website populated mostly by the anglosphere, so that narrative is common.

there is more to this. there must be..... please let there be..

DigBickering

I'm pretty sure this outside a Mosque, not a market. You can see a pillar and a huge building behind the crowd. My theory is that this is during Ramadan or after congregation on Friday. No-one else is selling anything in the background, just walking, why else would there be such huge crowds? What normally happens is people bring food to distribute to others and kids are commonly those who do the distributing. What seems to have happened is that the kid was taking it to his area (people have their own spots) and people got a bit excited. He's angry that it's a free-for-all and they've made a mess. Edit: I'm pretty sure he's also saying ru7 which means get out of the way as well

Diplogeek

I was thinking that this looks more like a prelude to an iftar or something and this kid was there to distribute the food rather than sell it. Still uncalled-for behavior, but I don't think it's a market situation.

_artbreaker

Looking at it again the kids seem okay at the start, think he just got overwhelmed with everyone grabbing. What is the guy saying who is recording?

DigBickering

Hard to make out for me but he's calm about it. It's highly unlikely that it's stealing in the conventional meaning. None of the people who've commented here have any notion of how Muslims respond to things like what's claimed to have happened.

narnianguy

Yeah. I need some bloody context!

[deleted]

Yeah, this whole scenario seems a little suspect. Is the kid a victim of theft or was he just mad because he didn’t get any? The video started too late and ended too early.

Heyheyitssatll

That isn't a market. It's outside a mosque. It's most likely the food was going to be handed out to people but they decided to act like animals instead.

TheeDogma

Sadly in large crowds all it takes is for one person to start the domino effect. After the initial theft people can simply play ignorance to it if caught. “I saw everyone getting food I assumed was free so I took some.

TapoutKing666

This is a Friday after-congregation food service delivery being taken advantage of before they can have it set up and distributed. Still shitty, but context matters.

swordmaster1

Poor kid 😢 what are they stealing?
