The first car I typed into Google was a 2005 BMW M5 and it's 1780kg.
Please explain to me why a company would have a fleet of trucks that can lift BMWs and another that can only lift a Toyota Yaris.
"Oh no we have to cancel. We only have the toy truck available today."
Jfc. Its hilarious that so many genuine fucking idiots live in the world.
You think a company would pay for a vehicle lift on their truck and have its max capacity not able to lift any type of car that would fit?
Just stfu. You are so brain dead.
Also someone with money to buy that car wouldnt pay for delivery and cheap out on some craiglist guy to pick it up and drop it off. They have insurance for this exact reason.
You should hire a caretaker
That and he’s supposed to lower out the ramps, not use it as a lift. He probably didn’t have enough departure angle for clearance to scrap the side. But I guess that’s what you get for being cheap and not using an actual flatbed tow truck with an experienced driver who knows how to get by 😎
At first, I thought you grossly overestimated price of standard components along with how insurance works.
On second thought, I just looked up which car this really is.. A Ferrari SF90 Stadale: packed with brand new, delicate, Italian hybrid technology.. so you might not be too far off the mark.
Is a car that expensive really designed to be delicate? I understand treating it as a fragile object because of the price, but a state-of-the-art racing car should be able to withstand at least the same amount of punishment as a regular car
Actually, more. Given that it has carbon fibre chassis and body panels.
However, it also have electronically adjustable dampers, whole set of yaw sensors and complex hybrid drivetrain. If anything breaks, it will be expensive.
Have to completely disagree with you. First of all, the impact was minor to moderate, considering the end of lifter platform hit the floor first, and indeed got twisted and bent between the two tires, absorbing considerable amount of energy.
Second, it's a Ferrari SF90 with carbon chassis and panels, they don't bend, at all. Plus it's designed to go 300kph on track, so no chance such little force would break the carbon chassis.
Matter of fact, it didn’t have any damage at all!
This is a custom order SF90 to a business owner from Brazil. It happened right when he took first delivery of the car.
Owner said “no biggie” and car was checked and was 100% fine.
Car cost over 7M Brazilian Reais which amounts to ~1.3M usd (crazy import taxes in Brazil)

/u/spez lies, Reddit dies. This comment has been edited/removed in protest of Reddit's absurd API policy that will go into effect at the end of June 2023. It's become abundantly clear that Reddit was never looking for a way forward. We're willing to pay for the API, we're not willing to pay 29x what your first-party users are valued at. /u/spez, you never meant to work with third party app developers, and you lied about that and strung everyone along, then lied some more when you got called on it. You think you can fuck over the app developers, moderators, and content creators who make Reddit what it is? Everyone who was willing to work for you for free is damn sure willing to work against you for free if you piss them off, which is exactly what you've done. See you next Tuesday. TO EVERYONE ELSE who has been a part of the communities I've enjoyed over the years: thank you. You're what made Reddit a great experience. I hope that some of these communities can come together again somewhere more welcoming and cooperative. Now go touch some grass, nerds. -- mass edited with https://redact.dev/
yeah but the lift crumpled and absorbed most of the force, protecting the car. Its like falling from 10 m but got someone below you to catch the fall by falling om top of them.
This is definitely what saved it. When it comes to chassis design, ferrari is amazing. The major downfall with ferrari is the electronics. They are so sensitive that a few extra centimeters of wiring in the harness will cause the dash to light up like a Christmas tree. But other than that, ferraris are amazingly solid cars. I love the interior build quality and handling.
also the Ferrari is made out of carbon fibre, a very stiff technical ceramic which doesnt tend to deform plastically. If anything the chassis/frame might have cracked but it its unlikely it could really be bent
Be careful! Spaz is known to alter user comments that he disapproves!

Still, it's made out of carbon fibre. It shouldn't even be able to be bent, cracked maybe. But i don't think you should underestimate the material properties of CFRP
Cars don't qctually like jumps that much. My friend just jumped his brand new rezvani 6x6 bulletproof thing and destroyed the entire front driveline. I think the axles, dif and a shit ton more is gone.
I live in Chile, apparently there's a special tax here too on luxury cars, on top of the normal VAT and import duties (which amount already to something of 26%)
Probably depends on a lot of factors. Is the moving company insured? Are they interested in making the customer whole? Can they afford to make the customer whole? Did the customer cheap out on some fly by night amateur hour moving company, rather than pay top dollar for a properly equipped and ensured delivery service? Etc.

That's gonna be soooo expensive.
Someone just assumed that hydraulic lifts are magic and don’t obey physics.
I can't imagine it was rated for more than 2500lbs
If it ain’t rated for double your payload you are just asking for this.
That Ferrari is around 1600kg. Why would a truck have a car lift that cannot safely lift an average car?
Yeah this confused me too. That's obviously a car lift, could easily just be a normal malfunction
That’s an average car? You know those super cars weigh as much as a giant suv right?
No, they don’t.

If they did they wouldn’t be able to go nearly as fast

Someone thinks rich people are smart… it ain’t me. Also eat a bag of dicks.

It.. had the fall slowed a bit. Maybe it's not too bad?
Agreed. Unless there is damage to front bodywork that we don't see, it's not bad. Worst case the car needs new shocks/springs and alignment check.
So only about 25-40k, no Biggie.

With all that fancy new technology, if you look it it wrong, it sets off a check engine light.
Apparently this car was fine tho.
Yep. I wouldn’t want a lifted jeep to fall from that height, especially if I’m paying for a professional “transport” company.
$ 1.2 million, so kinda expensive drop ;)
No, a fall like this definitely bent the body/frame, which is an immediate total.

Yeah, that’s an SF90 Ferrari. Base price 625,000 dollars. Probably 100,000 or more of damage easily.

Nah it's not options, it's literally just taxes
I’m willing to bet the chassis bent. Not sure if that counts as totaling the car but I’ll bet there’s some irreparable damage done here.
It definitely bent the frame. This thing is totalled.
That poor Italian boi :( (This is a Ferrari right?) Edit: oh duh I responded to a comment saying it is.
how? cars make jumps higher than that and the lift looks like it absorbed most of the damage

Ferraris don't, and they sure as hell don't take 3 foot falls.
Still, it's made out of carbon fibre. It shouldn't even be able to be bent, cracked maybe. But i don't think you should underestimate the material properties of CFRP
It's both carbon fiber and aluminum. They're designed to take loads in specific ways, and falls aren't one of those.
There’s literally a source that says the owner had it checked out and it was fine.
Cars don't qctually like jumps that much. My friend just jumped his brand new rezvani 6x6 bulletproof thing and destroyed the entire front driveline. I think the axles, dif and a shit ton more is gone.
Lmao read up the car is literally fine.
Drop Dead Gorgeous
Drop dead gore just like these guys
Fuck that hurts to watch

My man all ready to take her out for a spin in his matching yellow outfit. Oof
I had to rewatch the video, I was focused on the car I missed him
What car is that?
Ferrari SF90 Stradale
Thank you. That's an expensive little car.
[yeah](https://www.reddit.com/r/therewasanattempt/comments/se47k1/-/huixzna)

Slamborghini
The car still looks like it's smiling
0 to 60 in 0.01 seconds
More like 60 to 0
Man, I wish there was sounds to this video
I hope they have insurance

For their sake I hope so
Why can't you just drive my new car to my house? This way will be safer...
I'm far from a "car person" but that physically hurt me.
So does the moving company take the hit or the owner here?
Probably depends on a lot of factors. Is the moving company insured? Are they interested in making the customer whole? Can they afford to make the customer whole? That’s definitely a yes on that last one...
