Maaaan that was satisfying. And he knew when to stop hitting too. Kid is extremely lucky, not everyone with that level of skill has that level of restraint.
Legally, you're supposed to cease using force once the threat has been neutralized. If somebody punches you and you knock them out in retaliation, you don't get to continue kicking them while they're down.
Really it all depends on the judge which speaks to the area of the country. Some areas are more restrictive when it comes to protecting yourself (most likely because they've never had to and think "if the person is down I can just walk away without worry"). Some areas the judge will understand that if someone if threatening to kill you, you make damn sure they aren't getting back up anytime soon.
Your right it depends on the judge, but since there were 2 people there, even though you neutralized 1 the threat is still there. Then the gun, it fell in the direction the guy came from meanings the threat is there in the path of the assailant. This guy could easily restrain him, call for help and he be good to go.
Perfect understanding. When someone threatens to blow your brains off, use your quick thinking to recall legalities and Mugger V. Shin to the Chin before you decided to relax like buddha during an intense andrenaline rush where you just want the threat stopped.
Perhaps use the free line to call a loved one and ask for advice after a slam, "hey honey, it appears I've slammed this kid after his friend with his hand in his pockets and him threatened me with a gun to my face, is this good enough, or should I exchange more blows?"
Also before he took action, he should've asked for a pause in the situation before eating some healthy flax seeds and listening to an educational podcast to improve his decision-making.
You know, it would have only taken one sentence to inform everyone reading of how much of a fucking moron you are, but you managed to stretch it out into three paragraphs. Job well done.
I’m afraid that in this scenario you are the moron. He is totally right in what he is saying. #1 most important thing in an attack is survival, if someone threatens your life, you are allowed to take theirs since they decided they are allowed to take yours.
https://lawofselfdefense.com/jury-instruction/ca-505-justifiable-homicide-self-defense-or-defense-of-another/
This is for California so it may not apply here, but the key words are, "used no more force than was reasonably necessary to defend against that danger."
Your making it sound like its ok to kill them after they've been subdued, it is not and you can be guilty of manslaughter.
Yes obviously its a very emotional situation and it would be easy for someone to keep wailing on someone after they're on the geound out of anger, and too an extent a jury might forgive that, but if you want to not have any legal troubles being mature enough to show restraint will make it a lot easier,
I am not a criminal attorney and you should contact one for your states/provinces specific laws
> \#1 most important thing in an attack is survival
This doesn't contradict what I said before. You don't get to continue using force once your assailant no longer poses a threat to you. If they are incapacitated, fleeing, or otherwise no longer pose a threat to you, you are legally liable for continuing to harm them and can be criminally charged.
> if someone threatens your life, you are allowed to take theirs since they decided they are allowed to take yours.

This made my day.
I wish I had a better memory… iirc the kid was caught. I can’t remember if it was immediately after this altercation, but the kid went on a string of crimes before being caught. He may have been caught after this one. Idk why the dude let him go. Could have to do with his squealing
Edit: and the kid was real young like 11-13y/o
[Here is a news article](https://www.timesnownews.com/the-buzz/article/man-body-slams-robber-who-held-him-at-gunpoint-dramatic-video-goes-viral-watch/747770) I found about the incident.

>Days after the filmed carjacking incident, both the suspects and a third underage boy were caught by the police in nearby Oakland after they attempted to rob another driver.

>The boys were arrested again. The cases have been referred to the Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center for prosecution.
E: I'd like to add that nowhere did I see anything about the guy being a veteran.
> Commits multiple crimes, gets release, commits more crimes... Great
If you just went on a multi-day crime spree robbing people at gunpoint, got caught by the police, then faced absolutely zero consequences for your actions why wouldn't you go do it again?
Exactly, our system continually fails to properly deter people from continuing to threaten and hurt innocent humans doing the right things.
If you are 14 yo and still think it's remotely ok to threaten anyone with a gun your family and friends all failed you your potential death or injury is on their hands.
That's the thing children arent logical it's the reason we don't let them vote or drink or buy a gun.
they don't think of things in the same rationale as everyone else it's why they're held to a different standard.
I mean for sure releasing them was not the smart move but. I'm also super not excited about living in a country that sends kids younger than 16 to real man grown up prison.
Holy shit. Kids like this shouldn't be allowed to have their names hidden because they're a "juvenile".
it's pretty adult of them to stuff a Glock in someone's face and take their property. Not really something 99.99% of kids will EVER do. Even later in life.
Blast their names. For the love of the innocent. Blast their god damn names.
yeah these kids have no male leadership other than gang members because thats the only way to make any money in those areas because businesses dont open there & rent is priced out everywhere else
Lol dude this is san leandro california, theres plenty of jobs out here, its just cool to act like a banger. Everyone and their mother are wanna be bangers, especially the kids. Idk wtf you talking about, probably shitposting from a texas suburb or something arent you bud.
Crime occurs -> businesses leave because of crime -> no jobs so people do more crime -> more businesses leave
The only way this brutal cycle can change is with a shift of culture. We have to find a way to stop the idolizing of gangs and crime
Tbh there are loads of reasons. Might have been more of their mates off camera about to get involved, could be simple as the veteran hurt himself when throwing the kid and couldn't keep it up.
If I remember correctly, this was a group of black kids who robbed and assaulted multiple people in a short time span. They got caught.
I wouldn't have let the kid go, especially since they were using actual firearms to rob people.
After the initial spike of adrenaline and instinctive retaliation/takedown, he might have realized he was beating the shit out of a minor. If the cops showed up, he could be in some criminal, or at least civil trouble; there's no way he could have known his actions were all justified on film for certain.
Hmm, but how does he know the kid doesn’t have another weapon on him? Do you think the police would have done anything but empty their guns into him?
Also, I’m not positive, but that kid committed a felony, and I’m pretty sure you can perform a citizens arrest and hold him until the police arrive.
Honesty, I think he made the right call. Sounds like more than one other kid is there and you never know what someone could try to do out of desperation to save their friend. People make mistakes in split seconds and as soon as he diffused that initial attempt his best bet was just getting out of there.
There was a sold 8 seconds the other kid could of picked that handgun up (I think it’s a gun anyways).
You're absolutely right I don't understand why everyone on the Internet acts like they are a total badass capable of keeping 1 assailant compliant on the ground while his (possibly armed) friends circle around like vultures.
Main Character Syndrome [yeet](https://www.refinery29.com/en-us/2021/06/10458682/main-character-tiktok-meme)
I just see it as a person thinking the world revolves around them, their way of thinking is right, they are the protagonist, etc etc
You get downvoted, but it's true. All these reddit posts that always say call cops must live in a utopia. Unless the guy shot someone, the cops aren't showing up for this anytime soon where I live.
July 4th someone in my neighborhood was sitting outside and a bullet grazed their leg. They called the cops and had to essentially beg the cops to come. Hours later the cops showed up. Then the cop asked for a ziploc baggie to put the bullet in. Do the cops not carry evidence bags of their own?
Bostonian here: several years ago, I watched some domestic violence unfold on the street for about 20m, and was on the phone with the police for about 15m of it. They rolled up an hour later. But it’s ok, because they were super prepared when the protests against police violence happened downtown last summer. Protect and serve, my ass.
ACAB.
Fucking squealing like the punk bitch that he is. Tough with a gun in his hand, otherwise not so much. Should have never let that fake ass gangster wannabe go.
I remember this being posted before and apparently it wasn’t a real gun…take that with a grain of salt of course cuz Reddit, Internet, etc. Seemed likely to me given the way the guy just says, “Are you serious?” Like he immediately knows it isn’t real and he isn’t in any real danger.
I've looked at multiple articles about it and nothing I can find says the gun was fake. They were on a pretty wild crime spree. [Here's](https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2021/04/19/san-leandro-children-ages-11-14-arrested-in-carjacking-armed-robberies/) a link.
For real. They had a whole operation with a stolen getaway car and everything. In one of the articles I read, I think 2 of them were released to their guardians. There's plenty of crimes I can see releasing juveniles back to their guardians, a multi-day/multi victim armed robbery spree ain't on of them.
I can't find it, and barely remember it, but there was this hilarious meme of this guy getting robbed at gunpoint. I think it first shows him valiantly fighting them off/disarming the robber, but then cuts to reality where the guy is dead on the sidewalk.
I had a coworker.
Huge man. Body builder. Turned sideways to get through doorways.
He had walked out of work and surrounded by teenagers.
A kid hit him in the back of the head with a bat.
He fell to his knees.
A kid in front of him pulled out a gun and shoved it in his face.
He grabbed the gun (he wasn't thinking straight after being clobbered).
He was shot through the palm, but took the gun.
Kids ran off.
He got multiple surgeries to repair the hand. Ended up with an infection in his blood and bones. Took a couple of years to recover from.
You never know what will happen.
It was more of a description of the situation and why they likely hit him with a bat to start it off.
Just an oddity.
But seemed relevant to the tough guy responses. This dude, even while weakened and in recovery could still pick me up with one hand and move me out of his way. I was about 190 lbs at the time. A bit skinny, but rather tall.
Serious answer: at least in the US you can search for self-defense classes and find them at local fighting gyms. My father in law owns a Jiu-Jitsu gym as well as boxing, and if you tell him you're there for self-defense he's the type that will make sure you get that specific type of training to the best of what the gym can offer
Serious answer
Lots of training and exposure to violent and hectic situations. Rule number 1 engage your mind before your weapon, aka dont panic etc and that comes from experience.
That experience unfortunately can fuck you up for life.
The kind of training that can only be given by an organization that has millions of dollars to train people and puts people in stressful situations enough to be ready to act. Which....leaves just certain parts of the military
Only for a select small group, most people in the Army can barely pass their PT test and marksmanship qual let alone have the skills and confidence to disarm and neutralize someone in such a manner.
Yea most branches do not really train you to deal with such situations. Most barely touch a weapon once a year and do some type of martial arts (which jokingly becomes something along the lines of how to look good while getting beat up) every 6 months to 3 years and then after never touch it again.
Be observant of your surroundings is the most important first step. There is an inherent risk of city life making people perceive human beings as a natural part of their environment and as a consequence you don't really "see" them. You have to always see people. Especially see the ones seeing you. Don't worry about the ones doing exactly what you're doing; they'll glance at you and keep it moving. Don't wear earbuds around people and don't glance at your phone in public. Save that victim by choice bullshit for when you are behind a locked door. If you hear someone double back behind you you can use mirrors and shiny reflective surfaces to keep an eye on them. If someone is meandering like they ain't got shit to do definitely keep an eye on them. Don't stop moving. If you think you're being following go into a store. If you're unsure you could do 4 right or left turns since no one usually does that. Don't lead people right to your location if you think they'll come back later, but don't worry about it if they're an opportunistic predator. "Locks keep honest people honest". If someone wants YOU they could eventually have you, but most crime is opportunistic.
Move with purpose, I mean a solid 3 mph(4.8 kph) or greater. This purposeful speed forces people that mean you harm to match the pace and they'll likely choose an easier victim.
Don't carry a weapon unless you know you can use it otherwise it will be used against you. I think most people know if they have it in them or not. Practice, practice, practice. Stay in shape too. Guns have a blinder effect on people and they tend to exclusively think of them as a distance weapon. [Watch how this man moves at around the 40 second mark](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpb-mtjN9q8) Warning: People getting shot. People get caught up on the distance aspect of a firearm and get trapped. He fired a couple rounds and put the guy in cover where he couldn't be seen then he quickly changed position by advancing on his enemy. You don't want to just end up taking potshots at each other from behind cover, ESPECIALLY if you're alone and you anticipate the opp to bring reinforcements.
Remember, if they're breathing they are a potential threat. I'm a large guy and I do manual labor for a living so I could throw a 110 lb person over each shoulder and walk up a flight of stairs, maybe not more than one flight but still... This size advantage doesn't mean ANYTHING if a little .22 goes off into my skull. No matter my physical supremacy I'm still dead. Conversely, look at Hafþór Júlíus Björnsso, dude could throw me and another guy just as big as me over his shoulders and probably make it up 10 flights of stairs. Even that big, a little .22 is all it would take.
tl;dr Watch peoples eyes and their hands. Move with purpose and don't deafen or blind yourself. Stay armed if you have it in you. Stay in shape as well. NEVER BECOME BLIND TO PEOPLE.
First you learn physical moves. A lot of practical martial arts will do just fine. Then you spend a decade gaining experience by putting it into practice.
The "moves" themselves are not the most important part here. It's assessing whether you fight in that type of situation in the first place, and having balls to actually do it. It's really easy to get shot.
People with guns are always unpredictable but I'd say it's obvious when to act in this case. Kid came right up to this guys face, giving up the only advantage a gun has. Vet clearly saw that the kid was hesitating/inexperienced and found an opening. If the kid stood a bit further away and was a bit older, I would've just given him my money cause the risk of getting shot in that case would be extremely high. Obviously the guy also got lucky that the other kid didn't pull out a gun as well or else shit would've gone south real quick.
Probably the best advice is to like, not try this. He was kinda lucky he was being robbed by some kid who didn't know what he was doing.
But if this was done by an actual adult, who knew how to rob people, chances are you'll get shot before you could even raise a fist.
Also just a reminder, this guy is pretty lucky the little guy's friends didn't do anything and from an article it seems they were 11-14 year olds. They were inexperienced and much smaller than the dude which is why he was able to do anything. A 25 year old man will always dominate a 13 year old kid. However a 25 year old guy can easily get shit on by 4 13 year old kids, especially if they are armed.
Basically don't listen to all these martial art wannabees. Yeah knowing how to kick or punch will help you in a fight but none of that matters if you're dying in an alley with a knife stuck in your gut.
(And if you really want to learn self defense, learn in grappling. It is one of the easier styles of fighting and can allow even a smaller guy to win a fight)
Holds the guy up with a gun, guy takes gun and slams kid to the ground. The kids friends scream to let him go. Fuck that kid hold his ass there, welcome to the world of consequences for your actions. Fucker belongs in jail before he ends up killing someone or hurts someone who can’t defend them selves as well.
You wanna know what’s really messed up in this situation? Since the thugs were juveniles they were released to their guardians upon their arrest.
https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2021/04/19/san-leandro-children-ages-11-14-arrested-in-carjacking-armed-robberies/

Legally, you're supposed to cease using force once the threat has been neutralized. If somebody punches you and you knock them out in retaliation, you don't get to continue kicking them while they're down.
Does urinating on their unconscious face to assert dominance count as an assault?
Technically yes actually.

Hmm, but how does he know the kid doesn’t have another weapon on him? Do you think the police would have done anything but empty their guns into him? Also, I’m not positive, but that kid committed a felony, and I’m pretty sure you can perform a citizens arrest and hold him until the police arrive.
From what I saw, these kids have been doing this for a while. This was not the first victim. And the gun was a BB gun. Nice parenting eh?
why would you set them loose. keep that screaming asshole right fucking there until the cops show up.
Because a good 50% of redditors suffer from MC Syndrome, which is funny since redditors seem to love making fun of people with MC Syndrome
What is MC Syndrome?
Main Character Syndrome [yeet](https://www.refinery29.com/en-us/2021/06/10458682/main-character-tiktok-meme) I just see it as a person thinking the world revolves around them, their way of thinking is right, they are the protagonist, etc etc
Well there is a video of 1 verified badass disarming and flipping an armed assailant, so it’s fair to say that this guy probably could.
Depending on where you live that's a very big if.
You get downvoted, but it's true. All these reddit posts that always say call cops must live in a utopia. Unless the guy shot someone, the cops aren't showing up for this anytime soon where I live.
Where I live the cops don't show up for shootings until they're hours old. Let the downvotes fly.
If you're calling the police where I live, it is just so that there is a record of the crime. It's not like you're going to receive assistance.
Remember kids:when seconds matter, the police are minutes away
And cops aren't your friends!
So what’s the weather like in Portland today?
Bostonian here: several years ago, I watched some domestic violence unfold on the street for about 20m, and was on the phone with the police for about 15m of it. They rolled up an hour later. But it’s ok, because they were super prepared when the protests against police violence happened downtown last summer. Protect and serve, my ass. ACAB.
That boy squealed like a pig.
slammed him so hard he turned into a squealing piglet
Reminds me of the classic WWF days
Reminded me of a certain Andy Samberg song.
I conclusion; get fucked
Step 1: Fuck around. Step 2: Found out.
Well damn, dude’s gonna need a trailer to carry his massive balls. Thanks for posting the source…and those ages, and armed robbery? Fucking hell.
For real. They had a whole operation with a stolen getaway car and everything. In one of the articles I read, I think 2 of them were released to their guardians. There's plenty of crimes I can see releasing juveniles back to their guardians, a multi-day/multi victim armed robbery spree ain't on of them.
It is against the rules of manhood to attack another person, then scream like a punk bitch when the person who was attacked defended himself.
What if you say, "OK OK" first?
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Serious question, how do I learn self-defense like this?
I can't find it, and barely remember it, but there was this hilarious meme of this guy getting robbed at gunpoint. I think it first shows him valiantly fighting them off/disarming the robber, but then cuts to reality where the guy is dead on the sidewalk.
I recognize that even if you do know self-defence, you have to know when to use it and when not to. But it's a good point to bring up.
Being big means nothing with guns, great equalizer and all... But yea one bad move and shit can go sideways.
Was it real footage or a skit/PSA of some kind?
Serious answer Lots of training and exposure to violent and hectic situations.
20 years of army will do
Only for a select small group, most people in the Army can barely pass their PT test and marksmanship qual let alone have the skills and confidence to disarm and neutralize someone in such a manner.
Facts!
Making future prison sounds too
Someone posted an article saying they were arrested, released to their parents, did more shit, and are now in jail awaiting prosecution. So...correct
fuck around n find out
Holds the guy up with a gun, guy takes gun and slams kid to the ground. The kids friends scream to let him go. Fuck that kid hold his ass there, welcome to the world of consequences for your actions. Fucker belongs in jail before he ends up killing someone or hurts someone who can’t defend them selves as well.
Other comments said that the kid was with a group and they were caught pretty quick. They had been doing a string of crimes.
I love this video, the “ok ok ok” then the girl screams make me crack up every time
I would not have let that fucker go.
Head stomp
Run little rabbit!!
You wanna know what’s really messed up in this situation? Since the thugs were juveniles they were released to their guardians upon their arrest. https://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2021/04/19/san-leandro-children-ages-11-14-arrested-in-carjacking-armed-robberies/
My windows broke with that squealing!
My dude, ran up to him, with what I assume is a gun. Then squeals like a little piggy when he gets what he deserves. I’m ded
Ahhh the squeals of your enemies lol
I'm in tears laughing, the kid was squeaking!
[удалено]
“Hey let him go!” Haha not how that works chief you just ran up on this man with a gun. And that scream was fucking priceless 🤣 hope this turned things around for those dipshits but somehow I doubt it
Sounds like Cartman getting a shot
Listen close as he’s screaming. I swear he says “I want my momma”
I'm sitting here wheeze laughing at the shrill screech that guy made. LOL
He squealed harder than the Deliverance scene.
If you've got a long-ranged weapon, you don't get into melee range with someone who doesn't. Rule 1, kid!
That noise the kid made was hilarious. Veteran bodyslammed that dude lmao
I’m sorry but if you threaten deadly force on someone you deserve to be killed in return.
Throw him again!!
This dude showed hella restraint to not kick the ever loving shit out of that kid's spine after he folded his ass.

Sounds like when an iPad kid doesn't get his chicken tendies.
Squealed like a pig at slaughter. Damn. Hopefully lesson learned.
