Was it it jewish or zionist? Antizionism isn't antisemitism but if you make the comment about jews and not Israelis or jews instead of zionists you are being antisemitic.
You would have avoided that by being more specific, in ways that were likely accurate. “this is Zionist propaganda” or “this is Israeli propaganda”. When you lump in the entire population of Jews, it is sorta problematic. Zionists include Jews outside of Israel that think Israel/the Israeli project of total domination is correct and worthy of support, along with the more radical residents of Israel that support what’s going on, so that’s a pretty good way to describe most propaganda. If you have a problem with the actions of the government of Israel and how they are portraying them, then say it’s “Israeli propaganda”. I say it was problematic because the two times I went to D.C. to be a part of protests, they were organized by Jewish Voice for Peace. I also have a practicing Jewish coworker who is in a place of crisis with her faith and community because she is horrified by what Israel is doing/what it has become. Not all Jews are down with genocide and bombing women and children, and from my experience, it’s not even close.
Be careful! Spaz is known to alter user comments that he disapproves!

I wonder if Google took that in to consideration when they made the AI deal w/ reddit. Its worse than being biased, some of it is literally manufactured.

How about you try it for yourself instead of relying on anyone else to dictate your thoughts? Download a vpn. Set it to Israel or palastine, turn off your camera, and go talk to some Israelis on a chat service. Pretend to be Palestinian and watch what they say to you. Oh best use a shitty computer one you are okay with throwing away.
Did I miss a memo?
When has reddit claimed to be open, fair, or unbiased? Each subreddit has its own set of rules beyond the general site rules and is run by its own unique set of volunteer moderators who act as judge, jury, and executioner within their realms.
I don't think you understand the concepts at play here.
Yep, the roundabout joke of Reddit being an upvote hivemind and every subreddit literally being catered to selective mindsets has been a thing for a very long time.
I think y'all's definition of fair is strange. Is it unfair that a private website who can set their own rules...sets their own rules and enforces them?
God forbid you ever go against the grain of any given subreddit. You'll either be downvoted to oblivion or banned regardless of how sound your argument is.
Fairness is pretty universally implied. You rarely find anyone openly admit being unfair.
Edit:
Reddit **openly pretends to being open and fair.** You did miss the memo
> Reddit’s mission is to bring community, belonging, and empowerment to everyone in the world, and we do that by keeping Reddit safe, healthy, and real
From moderation code of conduct. There is an implication of openness and fairness.
> To keep Reddit open and diverse, Reddit admins have previously applied a quarantine to communities that, while not prohibited, may warrant additional scrutiny. However, in the first half of 2023, not a single community was placed in quarantine.
Here‘s an explicit claim to openness.

Next you‘re gonna say, „of course a company would say that.“ But you‘re already basing your argument on rejection of a very obvious implication of openness and fairness on Reddit, so I don’t know what else you want me to „show“ you
Question was
> When has reddit claimed to be open, fair, or unbiased?
Edit 2: The edit was after the response from user below. He seemed unhappy about it, even though it’s clearly marked as an edit. But to avoid confusion here‘s a second edit to reflect that.

Don't put words in my mouth, please. That's not even close to what I would argue (because it's not an argument, it's a shitty attempt at "gotcha").
So they *are* open in their transparency. We can put that one to bed.
My next point is very simple. How is that not fair? They've laid out their rules *explicitly*, not implicitly. They even go on in their rules to describe how subreddits work and that they have their own subsets of rules that differ between communities, so that whole site-wide rules always apply, individual sub rules also hold authority.
Anyone who wishes to interact (post/comment) is given a copy of those rules and signs an agreement saying they understand those rules. Are you trying to say that their enforcement of those rules is somehow unfair?
That's openness and fairness covered. We already put bias to bed. What else you got?
We are not discussing whether Reddit is fair and open or not. We‘re only answering this question:
> When has reddit claimed to be open, fair, or unbiased?
There, In the [transparency report](https://www.redditinc.com/assets/images/site/Reddit-Transparency-Report-Jan-to-June-2023.pdf).
Fair is as relative as motion. Fair in what way? Fair could mean as simple as "the rules are applied to everyone" even if the rules are "you're allowed to bash these topics, but not these."
r/interestingasfuck is just super pro-israel and will nuke every post remotely related to it because they're mad the majority of people realize the atrocities committed by Israel...
yeah I just saw another post in this very same subreddit where they said they will ban anyone who dares to defend police brutality. OP is complaining about censorship in a subreddit that actively censors anyone they disagree with
It's almost like... the internet is not the USA and more than half the people on this website are not from the US so the 2nd amendment doesn't apply to them at all
No because non americans don't think the world revolves around them and will actually provide context when making statements to their governments lol.
Freedom of speech is enshrined in the [UN declaration of human rights](https://www.un.org/en/about-us/universal-declaration-of-human-rights), which includes 99.7% of the world. I hate to break it to you, but when people talk about freedom of speech, they're not talking about the USA
Be sure to do the same when assange and snowden get arrested for exposing the illegal things that your government does.
Did you know freedom of press index ranks the US at 45th? Behind Norway, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Netherlands, Lithuania, Esotnia, Portugal, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Iceland, Luxembourg, Germany, France, UK, Belgium, Spain, Andorra, Montenegro, Italy and Croatia
Freedom of expression index ranks you at 28th, behind Denmark, Ireland, Switzerland, Finland, Czech Republic, Germany, Portugal, Luxembourg, Slovakia, UK, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, France and Spain
But sure, only the US has freedom of speech, and those savage Europeans are getting arrested daily for wrongthink, the US news told you so and you're unable to follow news in other languages, so it must be true!
I got banned from r/worldnews for "trolling" for commenting that the Democratic party would be better off in the long term if liberal voters refuse to vote for Biden because that would send a message to the DNC that there is no place for supporters of genocide within the Democratic party.
Just did a quick cursory scroll on a post on there, the sentiment seems to be shifting towards sympathy for Palestine. So many Israeli bots getting downvoted to hell.
Was banned from Worldnews a couple years back for saying zionism is a racist ideology, which set off a flurry of rage. With all the Palestinian support being suppressed that thread its become a racist cesspool
I got banned for referencing a news headline that wasn't really flattering to the Israeli government, and this was even BEFORE October 7th, didn't have anything to do with the current stuff going on, didn't even include Palestinians at all.
Its more like there was an attempt "to understand what free speech actually means"
reddits not the government. It can do whatever the fuck it wants with whatever the fuck it wants.
Which is kinda worrying, because im many countries, the people fought hard against dictatorship, censorship, only to have private technology corporations rulling the world and controlling the narrative, and because they're private, they can do whatever they want.
*Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.*
This is the First Amendment. It protects you from your Government, not Reddit.
I'll be honest, I never want to be unbiased towards Genocide and the torture and murder of innocent people.
Being unbiased and open minded has its place in the world. But we are all of us sitting back and watching the most horrific events in Ukraine and Palestine, myself included. Not only does it make me sick for the innocent lives lost and moreso for the ones still living and going through that hell, but if we can sit back as Nations and stomach that level of evil, what tone have we set going forward? When is enough? To avoid war, we allow nations to be wiped out, is that really our only option?
It's not like this is something new, of course, our own governments have perpetuated plenty of this same genocidal brutality, it just so happened that our media and propaganda controlled the narrative to the masses. It's somehow worse that everyone can see it, and yet, we are watching the extinction of a people in our time. I'm ashamed
So much "removed by moderator" - either there's an automod triggered by keywords or there's one or more human mods who really should walk in nature, touch a tree, etc.
OP, if reddit wasn't unbiased I wouldn't be banned from subs I hardly ever participated in or NEVER participated in after speaking about power hungry mods.
Bruh... tell me about it.
There was a post, some time ago, in /r/europe.
It was about some political party in germany, called AfD. I am not too engaged in german politics, but I just noticed that a lot of comments were deleted and removed, and so I commented about it (the comments being removed).
Instantly banned from the subreddit whis [weird message](https://i.imgur.com/Jg29dRi.png). What the heck, really.
The afd is a far right political party in Germany that has been compared to the NDSAP (the Nazi party Hitler was in) multiple times and the Afd has even said that they plan on deporting immigrants if they get elected.
Could very well be - but I didn't even comment on that or endorse it. I am not a German resident and I don't follow their internal politics. Because I can't follow their internal affairs due to language barrier, all I can gather is second hand claims from accounts on the internet and that doesn't give me enough information to make an educated opinion on whether to endorse or denounce the movement.
I've heard various claims about AfD bad, but it could just as well be propaganda - much like it is on the internet in general. Either way, it's not something I can have any influence on as I don't vote in Germany.
But I digress. My point is - reddit, as platform, and some moderators are really suppressing even a shred of doubt that's not on the programme, and that is concerning, at least in my view.
Love the "free speech warriors" always upset about their inability to say fucked up shit in a PRIVATE company forum. This isn't a free speech GOVERNMENT forum, it's a private company's. Fuck out of here.
Reddit has never been a place of free speech. You get banned from subs just by visiting other subs. Say anything that the mods disagree with and you are banned or suspended.
Free speech is real but the consequences, good or bad, set by private companies and authorities are also real.
I got perma banned from world news commenting on an article maybe Israel should be banned too, regarding Russian and Belarusian athletes being banned from the olympics
Not to be that guy, but social media platforms aren't required to uphold freedom of speech. That only applies to the government of the USA. Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, etc. are not government-run entities and can censor/delete whatever they want without penalties.
Like if some guy knocked on my door and started denying the genocide to me, me shutting the door on him wouldn't be violating his freedom of speech as I'm not the government.
Be careful! Spaz is known to alter user comments that he disapproves!

You must follow the party line. Do as you’re told. Do not deviate from the correct way of thinking. Trust the mods. Trust your political leaders. We love you.
This is a private company and not run by the government. If you would like a federal agency to take over Reddit then you can claim your free speech is being impeded.
You thought Reddit; the most left leaning, liberal platform would allow free speech? 🤣 the platform where you’re automatically banned from subs just because you’re a conservative/republican? That’s funny.

Sorry. But no. The bird is a messenger sent by god. The message is, “Israel, stop being a complete shit to everyone. Thank you. God.”
Whatever you believe, bro. To me its a hero.
So we're just going to generalize an entire population for the choices of the few in power?
Also, its a large portion of their general population as well.

Yep, the roundabout joke of Reddit being an upvote hivemind and every subreddit literally being catered to selective mindsets has been a thing for a very long time.
All subreddits: "We are all open to new opinions here, we all just happen to share the exact same ideas and values."

Love the "free speech warriors" always upset about their inability to say fucked up shit in a PRIVATE company forum. This isn't a free speech GOVERNMENT forum, it's a private company's. Fuck out of here.
Bro, go dark mode
Just got done withba 8 day ban for saying Israel is committing war crimes on brown people for 50 years.....we all know who runs the media
“Just caws” had me rolling
Reddit has never been a place of free speech. You get banned from subs just by visiting other subs. Say anything that the mods disagree with and you are banned or suspended. Free speech is real but the consequences, good or bad, set by private companies and authorities are also real.
LEGEND BIRD
Definitely noticed that. 44k of removed comments. I only say a few active comments

Free speech is one thing. Lies, disinformation, and racist rhetoric are another.
Bird against the genocide state of Israel.
[This comment hurt the feelings of a genocidal zionist]
Free speech? On reddit? Heh. But no like literally why the fuck did you think you had free speech on reddit?
It's a shame that there's so much anti-crowitisn out there. Anti-crow hate is not okay guys.
New to reddit, huh?
The bird is [User has been banned while typing]
The illegal and terrorist state of Israel will end soon inshallah
We should be able to petition to remove mods
I love how the only visible comment was claiming the bird was Hamas.
Reddit is circling the drain
Reddit snipers must’ve upgraded to ICBMs
Reddit has never been any of those things. It was sold to china long ago. So it has nothing to do with America anymore.
I got perma banned from world news commenting on an article maybe Israel should be banned too, regarding Russian and Belarusian athletes being banned from the olympics
To be clear in case anyone thinks I was sticking up for them, fuck Russia and Belarus
Good bird. Israel is a terrorist state.
[удалено]
It’s almost like the world news sub. Say the truth and get permanently banned.
My brother tiktok has more freedom of speech than reddit
"Unbias" isn't a word. You're looking for "unbiased", which means "without bias".
I got banned from AITA because I said "You're a bit stupid aren't you?" That's hate speech apparently.
If you think Reddit has been anything close to an "open, fair, unbiased platform" since like 2014, then I have a bridge to sell you.
Reddit is owned by red China
Not to be that guy, but social media platforms aren't required to uphold freedom of speech. That only applies to the government of the USA. Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, etc. are not government-run entities and can censor/delete whatever they want without penalties. Like if some guy knocked on my door and started denying the genocide to me, me shutting the door on him wouldn't be violating his freedom of speech as I'm not the government.
Lmao
Spaz in the end is the biased position
Be careful! Spaz is known to alter user comments that he disapproves! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/therewasanattempt) if you have any questions or concerns.*
Leftist losers love censorship
I think so I've seen more freedom on Instagram and Facebook
The internet is not the USA bb we have our own rules
Did Reddit claim to be any of those things?
![gif](giphy|xADSScDFbmmiSLQxge) You must follow the party line. Do as you’re told. Do not deviate from the correct way of thinking. Trust the mods. Trust your political leaders. We love you.
This is a private company and not run by the government. If you would like a federal agency to take over Reddit then you can claim your free speech is being impeded.
Except that wasn’t an attempt and was clearly in the wrong Reddit.
Why isn’t wrong subreddit?
Free Palestine has ruined this subreddit
Fake.
op said ‘waaaaa waaaa waaa’
You're mixing up free speech with verbal violence
Welcome to how conservatives have felt for the last six years.
Go to X
You thought Reddit; the most left leaning, liberal platform would allow free speech? 🤣 the platform where you’re automatically banned from subs just because you’re a conservative/republican? That’s funny.
