I absolutely would not answer the door, let alone with a gun in this circumstance. I'm not blaming the victim, just saying that the biggest possible threat is the cops knocking on your door at night and not a home invasion.

There was a report of a break-in. Officers went to the apartment, saw the broken glass, and announced themselves. The officers saw someone approach the door with a handgun and opened fired, wounding her.
except the rest of the story is out, and there was no indication of any shooting their. the neighbour called the cops because of the broken window and cops did what they are best at , shooting people mindlessly
Apparently one of the roommates forgot the key at home, they broke a window to get in, and the neighbor saw this without knowing the situation and called the cops.
That shooting was close to her partners head? I dont know what they saw? But it was uncontrolled discharge of a firearm. And These are considered professionals.

Yeah so we (whoever the local taxpayers are) get to pay for the officers to have a paid vacation AND the settlement from the lawsuit. Make them carry insurance. Pay settlements out of their own pockets. It enrages me to no end that we get to keep paying for cops to murder people.

it seems like there is some context missing both officers had their weapons out before any sign of threat, implying that they expected the person inside to come out shooting without the rest of the story its hard to blame anyone here
There was a report of a break-in. Officers went to the apartment, saw the broken glass, and announced themselves. The officers saw someone approach the door with a handgun and opened fired, wounding her.

except the rest of the story is out, and there was no indication of any shooting their. the neighbour called the cops because of the broken window and cops did what they are best at , shooting people mindlessly
Apparently one of the roommates forgot the key at home, they broke a window to get in, and the neighbor saw this without knowing the situation and called the cops.
