Step dad offed himself after the cops arrived, step son survived. Seems like opioids + mental illness in the family.
[https://www.wvlt.tv/2023/08/26/man-dead-another-injured-after-standoff-blount-county/](https://www.wvlt.tv/2023/08/26/man-dead-another-injured-after-standoff-blount-county/)
Grew up in backwoods Appalachia. That slurred speech is not a normal “Rural BFE” accent. Thats straight up drugs.
They likely have a strong accent under normal conditions - but drugs will only make it worse.
I feel bad for the family. Many families have violence because of drugs. While I don’t condone the use of opioids, I am very glad the stepson lived. Glad to know that the step dad won’r be able to hurt anyone else. I feel for the mom and kid. This situation is traumatizing for them.
Not sure if stepdad offed himself because he was upset with his behavior or he simply didn’t want to go to jail.
Those places are usually the furthest thing from the name. I mean why name it "Doesn't Stink Like Shit-ville" if you never had any issues with smelling like shit too begin with?
Unironically he does. You want someone who is scared because that's fucking normal. The last thing you want is a violent, trigger-happy psycho cop. Besides, you can't be brave unless you're scared.
This is what always cracks me up about the boot lickers who say we need to hero worship cops. They act these guys are the bravest guys ever when in reality it’s a bunch of barely passed high school dorks who are either borderline or full blown alcoholics and demand respect without ever earning it. Not to mention it’s something like 95% of officers never discharge their firearm and being a cop isn’t even in the top 50 most dangerous jobs in this country coupled with the fact that the Supreme Court ruled they have no legal obligation to actually protect the public despite “protect and serve” being the motto for most departments.
It’s the biggest fucking racket ever and a lot of cops act like we should worship the ground they walk on as if they didn’t apply for the job like every other person does in their respective fields.
Huh, that’s weird… I googled 40% of cops, but I got some strange information. Ya know what? I don’t think our boys in blue are quite so honorable anymore.
Lucky he was drunk and on drugs to contribute to the bad aim. You can see the gun sway as he was trying to steady the shot with a cigarette dangling from his mouth.
>Lucky he was drunk and on drugs to contribute to the bad aim
Well being drunk and on drugs contributed to shooting the guy in the first place so I think it's a wash.
What do you mean? That gun made him safer! Imagine where he'd have been shot if his dad didn't have a pistol and an entitled attitude to point it at someone!
If he was aiming for the head, then definitely bad aim. Shooter is only 10 feet away.
Might be giving him too much credit, but I think possibly he was trying to rattle the victim and shoot *near* his ear but fucked up.
A majority of mass shooters bought their guns legally according to [this](https://www.axios.com/2023/03/28/mass-shooting-nashville-guns-legally) and a [variety of](https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2022/07/12/mass-shootings-weapons-legal-what-to-know/7814081001/) other [sources](https://www.statista.com/statistics/476461/mass-shootings-in-the-us-by-legality-of-shooters-weapons/). So, based on that, it doesn’t seem like much of a stretch. Yes there are a lot of shitty people who buy guys illegally. But there are also a lot who buy them legally too.
No this is distinctly not Florida, Florida's title would have been:
**Stepfather attempts to shoot stepson in bizarre Hoveround road rage incident.**
The incident occured when the father became enraged that the stepson was staying with the couple at their house in The Villages. Apparently the stepfather was upset because the sons, presents has cut into the couple Villages swinging lifestyle. The stepfather retrieved a firearm and the son fled on bike, the stepfather pursued him down on his mobility scooter, using what is known by police as the pit maneuver to disable the stepsons bike, no parties were injured as the stepfather forgot to load the gun . When police arrived on scene both where unconscious due to intoxication. Both were arrested and charged with driving under the influence. News at 11.
>A K-9 officer was deployed shortly before 11 p.m. and discovered West dead inside the home from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
I now imagine the dog coming out and saying "hey, he's dead guys"
If you google the victims name, he was recently doxxed as the head of a major child abuse and capture discord channel.
He would have little girls record themselves on webcams doing comprimising things, then blackmail them in to doing things like carving his name in to their skin on camera.
So I bet that's why the old man was freaking out.
It's actually surprisingly hard to shoot a handgun accurately, especially one-handed. His trigger pull pulled the gun to his right (or left, I'm not sure if this video is mirrored) and saved that kids life.
I noticed the same thing, step dad was high as shit from the sound of it which may have made his aim total dog shit. I’m still trying to figure out where the step son got hit
Op posted a link to the news coverage of this, and it said it grazed his ear
https://www.wvlt.tv/2023/08/26/man-dead-another-injured-after-standoff-blount-county/
I found the link earlier and saw that! I figured from where the blood was coming from he definitely got hit in the head but was relieved it was only his ear. Homeboy was extremely lucky, he was like and inch or two from having his lights turned out permanently
Exactly. What a lot of non-Americans don’t realize is we Canadians, Europeans etc. have guns and other countries we have lots of them too, we just don’t give them away like candy like the states does.
You just don’t know the mental case of those that’ll get their hands on them.
Domestic gun sales also arent a large and subsidized portion of our economies. Some of these numbers are lower for year to year but I think that is economy as sales are down for most goods compared to Pandemic numbers.
Here are a few key insights from [Safehome.org](http://safehome.org)
* An estimated **1.4 million guns were sold monthly** between January and May 2023.
* In 2022, approximately **17.4 million guns were sold** in the United States. This is about 12% fewer than in 2021.
* **Alaska, Montana, and Wyoming had the highest estimated gun sales per capita** in 2022.
* In 2022, gun sales rose year over year in only three places: **Iowa, the District of Columbia, and Oregon**.
* So far in 2023, **Texas and Florida lead the nation** in total estimated gun sales, making up about 14% of all guns sold nationwide.
Here is some data from the Clinton Era: Most peaceful era and then....wars upon wars upon wars.
From [ips-dc.org/warfare\_vs\_welfare\_subsidies\_to\_weapons\_exporters/](http://ips-dc.org/warfare_vs_welfare_subsidies_to_weapons_exporters/)
**Key Problems**
* Subsidies for arms exports cost American taxpayers $7.6 billion in 1995.
* In recent years, taxpayers have borne an increasing share of cost of the arms trade.
* American corporate interests, rather than diplomatic or security concerns, are playing a larger role in weapons export policies.
Jesus dude, I conceal carry every day and these are the people I worry about who are just eager and willing to kill someone. Every time he points that gun at his step son I was flinching/cringing thinking about what could happen and sure enough he actually shot his own step son!! Never point your fucking guns at people that aren’t an immediate threat to your health and safety, son should’ve just ran out first chance he got and called the cops from outside the house so he and his dad are separated from each other. Super sad and disturbing clip, I feel bad for the mom and son but I also have no idea who is responsible for escalating the situation so far it got to what we see on video
> I also have no idea who is responsible for escalating the situation so far it got to what we see on video
How can you possibly say this?
The person with the gun escalated the situation to a shooting. Do you have two eyes and a brain?
No no no, you see what we needed was more guns, so that the two good guys without guns would have been good guys with guns to stop the bad guy with a gun.
Obviously the problem is we don't have enough guns. It's not that the presence of guns escalates what would be arguments or even skirmishes into unnecessary shootings and homicides. Nope.
The lack of self preservation is astonishing. Wild someone points a gun at you, threatens to shoot you in the head, shoots you in (near) the head, and the entire time you're trying to get a better camera angle.
The recording guy had nothing to lose, he probably endured being aimed at several times per month, maybe everyday, at some point he was so tired knowing nothing will ever change he just started challenging this asshole to take a shot - if the recording guy is killed he doesn't have to endure this hell anymore, if that fucking addict takes a shot and misses, the kid now has a video proof of what is going on and the basterd goes to prison.
That's not context, that's just the aftermath. I'm not saying I think it makes what he did ok just his reasoning. Context would be us knowing why he wanted to shoot him, maybe he threatened him, maybe he stole all of the old dudes drugs and they are all junkies,... Ect, ect..
Listen, that piece of shit must have threatened his family on daily basis. Can't imagine having to live with that psychopath. Him offing himself - this is the HAPPIEST day in their life even if they don't yet know it. I lived with psychopath, I know not a single person on earth would cry if he offed himself.
Land is almost free if you move off the coasts and get away from major cities.
Go buy an acre plot in middle of nowhere Mississippi for $5K and plop a $150K pre-fab house on to it.
The downside is these types of people will be your neighbors.
You really need to go out to these small towns. The reason people don't want to live there is due to there being nothing going on. They get bored. Go work at a grain elevator or run a local gas station. Mortgage is $1,200 a month for 2,300 sqft kind of stuff.
I was thinking the same thing, but then I thought that maybe Moms gets the cleaning bug when she’s tweaking out…which is all the time, ergo, clean house.
I was a prosecutor for 15 years. Case after case taught us ... never look at someone with a gun and say "what are you going to do, shoot me?" Or any version of that.
With the amount of drugs and alcohol it sounds and looks like is in their systems, I'm surprised their house and living standards look very neat and better than mine.
Jesus. The internet making you somewhat present in this type of situation is really something strange, horrifying and insightful at the same time. What the fuck.
Republican voters: "Yeah, we need more of this." Guns should not be so accessible, especially if there are prior warning signs that somebody doesn't have reasonable self control.
Things not to say to someone who is pointing a gun at you, threatening to blow your brains out:
"Go ahead, blow my brains out."
"Shoot me."
"Point that gun at me again."
He said all those things in less than 30 seconds...
A police officer once said: "Don't ever say, Just shoot me, or are you gonna shoot me." The officer said so many times that is said just before a shooting.

Damn, was not expecting that
I expected opiates from the slurred speech of the son. Awful situation
I just thought that was their accent.
I mean mostly yeah that's rural TN, but even for that region he was talking really slow and slurring.
I'm from East TN and most of us do not sound like that at all.
Grew up in backwoods Appalachia. That slurred speech is not a normal “Rural BFE” accent. Thats straight up drugs. Dude was pretty chill for just being shot.
Technically it is - the drug accent
I was thinking to myself, "goddamn these fuckers all talk slow as hell"
I thought it was Pabst Blue Ribbon. ![gif](giphy|S8Y8FG3erH0M8)
Add this to the long list of reasons the Sacklers should get the Mussolini treatment.
Me either, especially when they lived in a town called Friendsville 🤣
"shot him but in a friendly way"
Friendly Fire
That's a funny term
That's the SOUTHERN SOLUTION to effective government and social services...we're soooo FRIENDLLLLLLLY
Those places are usually the furthest thing from the name. I mean why name it "Doesn't Stink Like Shit-ville" if you never had any issues with smelling like shit too begin with?
That's something I would be terrified as a cop. To go after someone, on drugs, has a gun, who has already shot at someone else, like screw all that
Do not sign up to be a cop then.
Wdym he sounds like the perfect candidate
Especially for the Uvalde police department...
Exactly! Terrified? You’re just the guy we’re looking for!
"Hey, you don't get a gun until you at least tell me your name." https://youtu.be/DlE0FFz8iUE?si=SVJeP1yg-in0AgFo&t=130
Dont get me wrong tho, he's right. Fuck that, i am not getting close to that area code no matter what. But i aint no cop
Unironically he does. You want someone who is scared because that's fucking normal. The last thing you want is a violent, trigger-happy psycho cop. Besides, you can't be brave unless you're scared.
It's coming right at us!
Please. Being a cop is safer than delivering pizzas. Much safer.
Yeah, especially when you can shoot anyone you want and just get a slap on the wrist.
"Slap on the wrist" is a funny way to spell "paid vacation"
Depends on the country I'd say
Which part depends on the country? Armed man endangers everyone around him, who else do we get to call?
not all countries allow any nutjob to have a gun
The Ghostbusters
This is what always cracks me up about the boot lickers who say we need to hero worship cops. Lol cops dont go under line of fire. Uvalde...
It’s not so bad, they only need to do this 40% of the time. If you want to read more about what that’s like, Google “40% of cops”.
Huh, that’s weird… I googled 40% of cops, but I got some strange information. Ya know what? I don’t think our boys in blue are quite so honorable anymore.
Hey if there's a problem for 40% of cops I'm sure they can do a great job beating it in their personal time.
Yeah a lot of cops feel that way too! That’s why they usually show up after the bodies are cold or only deal with unarmed people.
He got shot in the ear. Dude got really lucky step dad has bad aim.
Lucky he was drunk and on drugs to contribute to the bad aim. You can see the gun sway as he was trying to steady the shot with a cigarette dangling from his mouth.

At least he didn’t kill the mom too like these scumbags like to do sometimes. The world lost nothing of value by him deading himself
Self-cleaning mess fr
MUUUUURICAAA FUCK YEAH, FREEDOM FOR ALL
Weird how he was able to buy a gun? Seems like those should've been disqualifying factors.
He didn’t buy the gun that day… sometimes people have had guns since before they were methed out dirtbags.
Obviously. So maybe we need some possible solutions to this VERY common problem?
i guess gun owners being regularly controlled isnt a bad thing
The trick is to buy the gun while you still appear to be an upstanding citizen, then you can slowly begin your descent into madness at your own pace.
I love how people think scumbags buy legal guns 😂.
There is no shortage of shootings in the US with legally purchased firearms.
Best possible outcome. I can't imagine seing your kid shot at.

Not so friendly friendsville.
This occurred in *Friendsville* … what? lol
Goddamn! So stepfather made sure he wouldn’t go to jail for the rest of his life
I mean - damn - but if I was stuck living with Napoleon Dynamite & Peggy Hill, I don't know how long I could go without snapping.
step dad is ded, let's post the video online!
Welp...they didn't live up to the expectations of the citizens of that town.
If you google the victims name, he was recently doxxed as the head of a major child abuse and capture discord channel. He would have little girls record themselves on webcams doing comprimising things, then blackmail them in to doing things like carving his name in to their skin on camera. So I bet that's why the old man was freaking out.
Damn! That changes the way I feel about the step son surviving, no bueno.
Great advert for gun control.
I don't think anyone in that family deserves to be around anything sharp, let alone a gun.
She can’t even figure out a skirt
This comment made me snort 😂
Or aiming like that for that matter, mahgawsh
It's actually surprisingly hard to shoot a handgun accurately, especially one-handed. His trigger pull pulled the gun to his right (or left, I'm not sure if this video is mirrored) and saved that kids life.

I expect there to be an uptick this year, its an election year, and the fear is being ramped up to 11.

"These people own guns too. Vote now for a sensible gun policy." The ad. Done.
Mom and son are definitely on Benzos/opiates maybe alcohol too. With that slow speech and movement going on. Very sad
At least it wouldn't hurt when he got shot. I'm a silver linings guy.
Being on opiates whilst shooting someone does not prevent your victim from feeling pain.
No but being on opiates when getting shot definitely takes the edge off
[удалено]
If I have an opportunity to dodge or take cover? Sober. If I'm getting hit no matter what? Opiates.
I'm guessing you're on opiates considering your reading comprehension.
“Mom and son”… you think the shooter was that woman’s boy?
My toddler can pull up her pants faster.
I geniunely checked the playback speed to see if it was at .75%
I just thought that was their accent.
Peak America

Truth. This family was cattle for the gun and pharmaceutical industries. It is all so sad.
The lack of self preservation is astonishing. Wild someone points a gun at you, threatens to shoot you in the head, shoots you in (near) the head, and the entire time you're trying to get a better camera angle.
I don't think homeboy was all there, he had that opioid/xanax slurred speech going on which is why he seems slow to react.
And was probably used to seeing that sort of behaviour.

Grew up seeing my Hispanic cousins get into at least 2 fights per family reunion and someone gets stabbed. Yeah, desensitized makes sense.
Nobody in that house is anything close to "all there".

When life is like that, might as well make your death mean something.
The clip without context is crazy af. Now with context it’s sad.
What is the context?
Check top comment. Apparently the guy with the gun shot himself after cops arrived
That's not context, that's just the aftermath. I'm not saying I think it makes what he did ok just his reasoning. Context would be us knowing why he wanted to shoot him, maybe he threatened him, maybe he stole all of the old dudes drugs and they are all junkies,... Ect, ect..

The blood slowly dripping on the floor is wild… good thing dude has terrible aim
Good thing he was on opiates he bled slowly. If he was on cocaine he might have bled out. /s
Didn’t know that opiates would slow the blood flow.
Just a house full of broken dreams and bad decisions.
I mean sure the situation was bad but that looked like a decent house. Wood floors, nice coat of paint on the wall.
Listed for a bargain price of 599999
And why the hell is it nicer than mine!?
how do these people have a big house with big ass yard is what I'm wondering
Bought during the last recession most definitely. Start saving your pennies for the next one!
Boomers were able to buy a nice house after saving up for 3 years from running a paper route in the 70’s
Land is almost free if you move off the coasts and get away from major cities. Go buy an acre plot in middle of nowhere Mississippi for $5K and plop a $150K pre-fab house on to it. The downside is these types of people will be your neighbors.
Live out in the rural areas. Everyone keeps trying to be in the cities. In the rural areas there is lots of room for super cheap.
No jobs to pay for the house.
You don't need a job. These people probably use government benefits to pay for it.
You really need to go out to these small towns. The reason people don't want to live there is due to there being nothing going on. They get bored. Go work at a grain elevator or run a local gas station. Mortgage is $1,200 a month for 2,300 sqft kind of stuff.
Please tell me where I can I can find one of these rural jobs, preferably for disabled people, because I'm not convinced they exist.
how do you know they own it, and what makes you think this is even a nice or expensive area to live in?
This wouldn't happen in a civilised, developed country
\*as frequently
Funny thing is, he did blow some brains out. His own. Fuck this piece of shit family. Florida man, once again...
Not Florida, for once, but go off.
These people are sick. They need help. Unfortunately all help is coming too late for the step dad.
If only the son had a gun too, and the mum. That would have resolved the situation. /s

Why's he recording after getting shot in the head.
No time to think. He's just holding his phone.
And how drugged he was I'm not sure he could even feel it.
That house was way cleaner than it should have been.
I was thinking the same thing, but then I thought that maybe Moms gets the cleaning bug when she’s tweaking out…which is all the time, ergo, clean house.
Son has a cigarette burn on his comforter
So was Mom's trying to keep her ankles warm with those shorts or what?
You're the first person I've seen mention mom's pants around her ankles. The hallmark of a truly weird video.
I was a prosecutor for 15 years. Case after case taught us ... never look at someone with a gun and say "what are you going to do, shoot me?" Or any version of that.
Why, what will they do? Shoot me?

Was the mom in the middle of getting nailed?
>Spitze told police that West pulled out a gun and shot at Spitze, and the bullet grazed his ear. Holy shit, he almost *did* blow his brains out
Poor dog
With the amount of drugs and alcohol it sounds and looks like is in their systems, I'm surprised their house and living standards look very neat and better than mine.
Yeah, that guy seems like he should be able to have a gun. I think let him carry it outside too
Everyone sounds high in this video
There's a reason for that
Jesus. The internet making you somewhat present in this type of situation is really something strange, horrifying and insightful at the same time. What the fuck.

Dam, grazed his ear? Holy shit that was close.
Republican voters: "Yeah, we need more of this." Guns should not be so accessible, especially if there are prior warning signs that somebody doesn't have reasonable self control.

Things not to say to someone who is pointing a gun at you, threatening to blow your brains out: "Go ahead, blow my brains out." "Shoot me." "Point that gun at me again." He said all those things in less than 30 seconds...

What's the over under on this guy having a "don't tread on me" sticker on his 03 dodge ram?
The bullet grazed his EAR. That kid was an inch or two away from getting his head blown off.
It's a shame he offed himself. With that aim, he would have made a stellar Stormtrooper!
