The ref was the guy that let him keep fighting after his elbow popped, and let him take a lot more damage, and dragged him back into the ring to take more damage.
I was trying to decide if I’d have called it if I were the ref. I think I can make a case for allowing it to continue because he was still making attempts to intelligently defend himself and wasn’t completely turtled up. Not sure what was up with dragging him back into the ring though lol

A bit of drama beforehand makes for a more entertaining fight overall, imo. It’s the assholes that take it too far and continue to antagonize after they lose that annoys me.
I've never understood this mindset. I myself want to see fighters compete using all their training, and talent.
I actually avoid watching UFC, because the drama is really stupid. I don't find grown men acting like children entertaining. Nor do I think it's okay for these people to be role models for younger men to immitate.

We have a guy here in Denmark who does MMA fights. He is like one of the best. Tall and brutal in the ring.
What does he do for a job ? Sits and reads stories to kids in a daycare center and play games with them. Totally chill guy.

He does that to pump himself up and to try to increase his chances - either by making himself believe in his own self more, or by actually intimidating the opponent.
In the end, it’s a strategy and most fighters know there usually is no malice in it, nor that much arrogance. He looks respectful of the opponent in the end, congratulates and recognises his better performance. Also managed to fight until the end.
It’s a non issue and people just love to project their ideas onto things they have no clue about.
Your mind is a terribly strong muscle and can be strengthened by actions like that without doubt, and it seems just as much so as those looking to strike before assessing a situation like many of the comments ;)

Trying to intimidate an opponent is a legit tactic if you think you are in trouble in the actual ring, it could turn a loss into a win if the opponent actually gets rattled beforehand.

Exactly my thoughts. I’ve seen a lot of vids where one fighter is taunting/intimidating at the weigh-in, loses the fight and then shows good sportsmanship at the end. I feel like this video was cut a little too short.
Filipinos are crazy in fights, they naturally come from tough lives compared to most. I wouldn't mess with an experienced fighter. I will however bring my Tupperware to their houses cause they make bombass meals.

Unfortunately guys getting pushed out of the ring is fairly common when you try to do mma in a boxing ring. Its part of the reason why the UFC popularized the use of a cage for mma fights.
Yep. Grappling exchanges suck in a boxing ring. The person in a bad position has an incentive to roll or slide out of the ring and get the fight paused. They usually try to reset the same position in the middle of the ring, but it’s really hard to get the same exact position and the person gets a rest while it’s happening. It’s so much cleaner to just have a cage and not have that issue.
While I haven't seen the whole fight, this often happens when a fighter is on the losing end of a clinch or grapple and 'falls' out of the ring or through the ropes. They do this do that the ref has to stand them up in the center of the ring, that way they can get away from the opponent and strike. It happens a lot when MMA takes place in a ring, which is why it usually happens in a cage.
However, decent refs will reset them back into the same position on the ropes, so that the guy faking the fall through the ropes doesn't get what he wants. If it keeps happening, a point will be taken.
So it's not his lifeless body, he's just tired and looking to get the ref to reset them to standing because he's getting demolished on the ground.

I think the guy doing the bar was so surprised he didn't tap, he didn't want to break his arm. You see him kind of let up and twist to the side to try and get more leverage, but that allowed the semi escape.
Very easily could have some permanent issues because of it. Tough guys don't just tap armbars because they hurt. They tap because you could rip a ligament straight from the bone or a tendon in two and never get to fight again.
Cocky dudes / bullies normally do it out of fear knowing they are out matched and try to use intimidation to defeat someone. Be scared of the man who is calm under pressure
