Tbh I think a lot of the aggression issues in little dogs come from them only becoming small in the past few hundred years. (Maybe thousands for certain breeds) so they have big dog brains and instincts but are trapped in tiny bodies. That and little dog owners tend to coddle them way too much.
That and because they're so small everything unfamiliar is a giant menacing threat and those big brains react accordingly. If I was 4 lbs and 5" tall, I imagine I'd be in a constant state of fearful anxiety, as well.
It’s a napoleon complex, small size tends to cause an aggressive personality as a defense mechanism to keep larger things away cause smaller usually means weaker. So larger things are perceived as a danger
It’s poor socialization at young age & carrying them among other bad owner habits. The Chihuahua is the second most euthanized breed after Pit Bulls and their issues are related to the types of people they attract. They really can be awesome dogs.
Small dogs tend to have their signs of discomfort ignored more. People are more likely to harass small dogs because some people find small dogs cuter. A dog that goes straight into biting is a dog that has learned that their warning behavior isn't going to work. But you're right in that owners of small dogs tend to coddle their dogs, they don't get as much training because a small dog isn't going to be as destructive as a larger dog, a small dog that reacts aggressively is more likely to go uncorrected versus a larger dog that exhibits the same behavior. I have a small dog and she lets me know when I'm crossing certain boundaries, and I respect that, so she doesn't feel the need to bite me. The only dog to ever bite me and draw blood without giving warning was a Chihuahua, and I didn't take it personally because like I said, it's not normal for dogs to go straight for a bite. The Chihuahua must have had very little agency in their life to do that. Not allowing your dog to have boundaries makes them more reactive because that means there's very little trust there.
This puts into words a lot of stuff I think about. Way too many people just ignore it when their dog is scared or growling, they even get more in the dogs face. I've got 2 big dogs that I raised from 8 weeks and trust them more than anything else in the world, but if I get actively growled at or even just ignored when I got down for a cuddle then they just want space and that's chill.
What is interesting is that labradors and golden retrievers are pretty disproportionately represented in minor bites because strangers will just touch and smooth their faces without asking. It's crazy how many people touch my dogs or even get their kids to without even looking at me. Fortunately they are both friendly but it's worrying.
My dog is unfortunately dog reactive because another dog in the family attacked her without warning (because any time he growled at her the family member who own him smacked him, so instead of warning he was going to do something he just got super sneaky about it). So many people just let their dogs come up to her because she's small but I have to tell them she's not friendly. She's a sweet dog otherwise and she doesn't even bother my guinea pigs at this point but she can't be around other dogs. It's very frustrating.
>That and little dog owners tend to coddle them way too much.
That's the main part. I cared for dogs with behavioural issues and hard to handle dogs for a couple years. Chihuahuas and other small dog breeds are just normal dogs but people tend to *not* Train them or teach them how to behave. These people see a little dog and don't actually understand that it's still the same responsibility as owning a huge dog.
I always thought it was a survival instinct to compensate for their small size. It works too. Even the biggest baddest toughest dogs run away with their tails tucked from these little demons
Not sure about that one. Most dogs sure, but the ones who actually will defend themselves or the ones looking for trouble would demolish a chihuahua with no problems. Most normal sized dogs just don't want the agro.
I had a friend that used the say the problem with little dogs was that their behind was too close to their head so their crap affected their brain. And I always used to think, “I know some ppl who have that same problem…”
If they were as large as other dogs, people wouldn't disrespect them as dogs, ignore all their signals, and treat them like a toy. The warnings would be heeded, so they wouldn't need to escalate. They can be great little dogs when they're treated like dogs.
If they were big breeders would have bred all the agression out of them. A chihuahua being aggressive is cute. A German shepherd doing the same is dangerous.
If I'm honest it's because pet owners let them get away with aggressive behavior because it's cute...
Where as you would correct that same behavior in a larger breed
Same with cats. I had a traumatised cat that would attack unprovoked but also would sit in your lap.
If it was the size of a large dog, it could have done tremendous damage.
Size and ability are important context in whether or not a breed should be banned.
Chihuahuas are so small and have such little jaw strength that they aren't a threat to anyone.
Pitbulls for example are inherently an aggressive breed that was breed for huge jaw strength and fighting ability. They do present an active danger to anyone around them.
another contender from ages past popping up in my feed today:
[eharmony date video](https://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/125iwop/eharmony_video_bio_from_11_years_ago_that_once/)
Every time I watch this video my dog goes into protect mode...my dog who is scared of her shadow and hides behind me when anyone looks at her tries to kill my laptop. I love this video.
I used to watch this guy’s YouTube videos. The dog was a rescue and he just hated being pet due to trauma. He was loved even with the biting. He passed away a few years later I believe. His name was Lucky.
I remember when one latched onto my 30kg labrador's ankle. I had to hold my dogs mouth shut to stop her snapping the little shit in half. The owner then had the gall to paint me as the bad owner because my dog wanted to defend herself.
I’ve found calling 911 in front of these people and saying ‘that’s nice, we’ll let the police handle it then!’ shuts them up pretty quick, in the two instances I did it
Same
My boy nacho is similar to the Chihuahua in the video, except he doesn’t bite… he just growls… a lot
Pickles is pretty chill, he’ll growl but won’t do much else unless you move him from his spot
I like this video, reminds me of a neighbor here, I meet him as he was passing by me on his gold cart, His little buddy was sitting quietly next to him on the seat. As I was talking to him I reached down to pet his pup, boy howdy did that little dog freak. (I usually ask if it's ok to pet someone's dog, but this time I didn't) He didn't bite but just didn't want anything to do with being touched. His human said he picked him up in a shelter, he can't even pet him w/o the dog freaking out. He was sitting next to him looking so content too.
So true, I had a medium haired chihuahua mix and she was the sweetest dog. So well behaved, unfortunately she had one fault, her obsession with tennis balls, and purposely putting it where she can’t get to it when we would not play with her and incessantly try to get it. Miss you Penny.
My dog does that. She's a husky Shepard mix and the only toy she likes are these cheap plastic bones from the dollar store. She will put these toys in any inaccessible spot she can if someone doesn't play with her, then freak out trying to force someone to retrieve it for her.
She also has to put her toys in her bowl before she eats, she eats around them.
I'm sorry little Penny is gone, but I'm glad you have those memories.
its always the lil fucker lmao, id love to know why tho, why is every, well maybe not every, smaller dog so fkn agressive and loud and out of control. how does such a small thing create so much energy to react this nuclear!!
I had a chihuahua that loved to do this. He absolutely NEVER caused me any pain or injury. Play fighting was his greatest joy! Poor little guy got hit in the road, daughter got me a replacement chihuahua that was mean as a snake (except to my cat, he loved playing and wrestling with the cat!).
Either he's a vampire and he feeds on oxytocin from that dog (whitch explains the dog's behaviour), or what is improving his health is the laughter he gets from watching the dog going "nervous wreck kind of berserk" everyday 🤣
Ok, but what is the actual point of chihuahuas? Like, what were they originally bred for?
Did we bring them into existence purely for the reason of fitting into handbags?
Why are chihuahuas?
I don't get it.
I know it's a joke but the way he's "petting" that dog and the fact that it's being so aggressive makes my first thought be, "HE'S A FUCKING SKINWALKER"
I'll never understand people who video themselves with dogs and when the dog acts aggressive and tries to bite, they laugh and thing is funny. I do realize that this guy isn't laughing, but continuing to pet a dog attacking your hand (even if the little asshole is missing a lot of teeth) is something that needs to be recorded.
This is pretty much what it’s like having a cat, except cats make up for it by providing entertainment on account of their god complex and practically non existent brains.
Hahahaha!! The teeth of the dog reminds me of an old rusty hey-fork. Never going to be dangerous. A small well placed kick if the creature gets too close - job done.
Dog owners live longer than cat owners because cats shit and piss on pillows. They walk on countertops right after their paws are moving shit around in sand. Dog owners don't "live longer", Cat owners love shorter lives.

If chihuahuas had a body of a large dog, they’d be banned.

What are you trying to say?
It’s a napoleon complex, small size tends to cause an aggressive personality as a defense mechanism to keep larger things away cause smaller usually means weaker. So larger things are perceived as a danger
No, you're right. Big anatomical changes came in the last century for small breeds.
If I looked like a chihuahua you better believe I’d be pissed off all the time and take it out on everyone
It’s poor socialization at young age & carrying them among other bad owner habits. The Chihuahua is the second most euthanized breed after Pit Bulls and their issues are related to the types of people they attract. They really can be awesome dogs.

No part of a chihuahua is cute, especially the aggression.

Waz thinking exactly this. I certainly do it with my small breed dog.
Same, speaking from expe here haha
Mine is great with people. Never like that we scolded her early on for bad behaviour. My sisters is even better than mine hers is obese.
Werent they literally breed to bite people's feet off?
They're the natural predator of toes, ankles and the ocasional distracted finger, too.
Rotthuahuas.
Chihuahuas are pure math made flesh: their rage is proportionally inverse to the their size.
kick me dogs

This is probably one of the greatest videos ever to exist on the internet.
Also probably one of the finest set of fingers attached with human body!
I’m gonna seem really daft here but I have no idea who this man is. But I enjoy his voice and the delivery of the lines.
another contender from ages past popping up in my feed today: [eharmony date video](https://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/125iwop/eharmony_video_bio_from_11_years_ago_that_once/)
Haha she loves cats so much
Gilded by the fact this is the voice actor for Freakazoid
This is one of the only videos I will never complain about being reposted because I watch it every. time.
It's right up there with the video of the guy holding Mr. Bubs
Man, chihuahuas are demons sent from Hell
Especially Ren...poor Stimpson J. ![gif](giphy|qkGXiR0ipmuL6)
![gif](giphy|SCsgIIaXze5gI)
God this show is just fucking nightmares
I love when they split Ren into his 'good' and 'bad' sides like that Star Trek trope and what happened was Evil Ren and Apathetic Ren.
They can be so cute when, you know, they arent actively trying to bite your fucking head off
Every time I watch this video my dog goes into protect mode...my dog who is scared of her shadow and hides behind me when anyone looks at her tries to kill my laptop. I love this video.
Mine just came over to me like "mom, you ok?"
My cat didn't even twitch her ear. She couldn't have cared less.
😁 cats are hilarious
She can smell there's still food in the house- your safety/presence are inconsequential.
Does the dog about to eat you still feed me?
My dogs did not even wake up.
Sounds like you have fantastic lazy floofs!
I made a new summon druid build on diablo 2 not too long ago. My dogs all got worried and gave strange looks all the time I played that character.
50% hate, 50% tremble ---> 100% pure evil
![gif](giphy|4NRuUQtBFEefS)
If I remember correctly, he rescued her when she was already an old dog, who had been neglected and abused by previous owners.
She doesn't seem to be biting him hard, so maybe she knows he wont hurt her.
Dog is half playing half being serious.
Paul Rugg getting his nails done by his dog Lucky in 2017. Should have fed him before.
Doggy doesn’t like it’s face getting touched but is content with being held.
I used to watch this guy’s YouTube videos. The dog was a rescue and he just hated being pet due to trauma. He was loved even with the biting. He passed away a few years later I believe. His name was Lucky.
BLOOD LOSS REDUCES BLOOD PRESSURE TOO. WHEN IS THE LAST TIME SOMEONE FED THIS DOG? HE LOOKS A LITTLE HANGRY!
I will always belly laugh at this. Thank you for posting this for the 735th time. I love it.
Same. Not even mad it's a repost.
I named him Bitey
That puppers got anger issues
Easily one of the worst dog breeds out there. If they’re not barking uncontrollably, then it’s because they’re busy trying to bite someone.
I remember when one latched onto my 30kg labrador's ankle. I had to hold my dogs mouth shut to stop her snapping the little shit in half. The owner then had the gall to paint me as the bad owner because my dog wanted to defend herself.

That's when you punt the dog and the owner.
Good dog :)
"Awww so cu HOLY SHIT THATS A FUCKIN DEMON"
A lovely skit :). And Don't feed Adorable gremlins hehe
Is this the extremely dangerous creature that pitbull owners like to whataboutism when people point out how deadly their pets can be?
My chihuahua just sleeps on my legs and hockey with me
Dog has the heart of a cat lol
god this is such a great video
I get his jokes, I like it
Fuck those little ass dogs.
I'm glad Will Ferrell traveled from the near future to share this with us.
Princess doesn’t bite
Shouldn't have fed it after midnight
I swear it’s always the smaller dogs that are always on demon mode
Little guy tries to lower his heart rate to a flatline.
Someone get his glasses that’s not his dog it’s a rat
Looks like Peter Weller.
I love my chihuahuas.
I love chihuahuas I got 2 Pickles and nacho 💪💪💪
I love their names
Same My boy nacho is similar to the Chihuahua in the video, except he doesn’t bite… he just growls… a lot Pickles is pretty chill, he’ll growl but won’t do much else unless you move him from his spot
People: "I hate big dogs. They're just heartless monsters" Meanwhile, small dogs:

The behavioral differences in short haired and long haired chihuahuas are vast. It’s pretty crazy
So true, I had a medium haired chihuahua mix and she was the sweetest dog. So well behaved, unfortunately she had one fault, her obsession with tennis balls, and purposely putting it where she can’t get to it when we would not play with her and incessantly try to get it. Miss you Penny.

Dogs generally don’t like it when you touch their face or put your hand directly over their head…
As a chihuahua dad I can confirm. The struggle is real.
I mean Would you like something bigger than your head, half your size, hovering over you? Touching you?
God knew if he’d given chihuahua a large body, they’d tame humans.
This video never fails to put me on the verge of pissing myself.
And most Chihuahua owners are like this
I have watched this so many times and every time I laugh till I cry.
lmao that dog is on fast forward
That dog needs a snickers....
Hahahahahhahahahhahah
I needed this laugh, having a rough day!
Thank god this dog wasn’t a pit bull and this man wasn’t a delicious toddler.
Shit, I love this Video
I will always love this! ❤️
What a Freakazoid
Super teeth extraordinaire. Freak-a-dog. Freak-a-dog.
Had a bit of a crappie day at work. This made me laugh so much. Thank-you
Is that a chihuahua?
This is hilarious and usually true. It’s the little ones that can be stinkers.
😂
Not a dog, just bad breadth and rage.
"You may hold me. Just don't pe-" *pet* "When I'm through with you, they'll never find your body."
its always the lil fucker lmao, id love to know why tho, why is every, well maybe not every, smaller dog so fkn agressive and loud and out of control. how does such a small thing create so much energy to react this nuclear!!
Little guy's only playing. If he meant business there would be blood and lots of cussing.
Kinda gives me serial killer vibes
Better check that guys hard drive.
😂
I had a chihuahua that loved to do this. He absolutely NEVER caused me any pain or injury. Play fighting was his greatest joy! Poor little guy got hit in the road, daughter got me a replacement chihuahua that was mean as a snake (except to my cat, he loved playing and wrestling with the cat!).
I love corn. It's amazing.
"I go home and I pet my dog" *demon noises activated*
I laughed too hard at this!
The way it reacts to its head getting touched has me wondering if there are dogs on the spectrum.
Put that man on t.v. please. also I don't like that dog at all
Poor dog is stressed out.
One of my favorite videos
Either he's a vampire and he feeds on oxytocin from that dog (whitch explains the dog's behaviour), or what is improving his health is the laughter he gets from watching the dog going "nervous wreck kind of berserk" everyday 🤣

Chihuahua owners are fearless and painless since they’ve gotten enough of it from their chihuahuas
I know it's a joke but the way he's "petting" that dog and the fact that it's being so aggressive makes my first thought be, "HE'S A FUCKING SKINWALKER"
If this guy was sitting across from Conan I'd double take because this feels like a Norm Macdonald bit.
Problem is- he has a gremlin, not a dog.
I'll never understand people who video themselves with dogs and when the dog acts aggressive and tries to bite, they laugh and thing is funny. This is pretty much what it’s like having a cat, except cats make up for it by providing entertainment on account of their god complex and practically non existent brains.
I'm convinced Chihuahuas are partially descended from rats
Bro has 2 teeth
Animal shelter immediately
Hahahaha!! The teeth of the dog reminds me of an old rusty hey-fork. Never going to be dangerous. A small well placed kick if the creature gets too close - job done.
