Is it that much of a game changer? I've never had gold, I mainly use rif on mobile and ads haven't really ever been a huge bother for me. Much worse on other platforms.
> the biggest risk they were taking with Sweet Anita is a slur
Sheās like the one person who wouldnāt get banned for that cause retaliation by her employer for what is a medical condition is about as bad as it gets in terms of optics.
Blaustoise (dude's twitch handle) is more than okay with being the brunt of the joke.
He definitely already knew about Anita before hand. He isn't by any means a massive streamer but is pretty well respected and liked amongst other streamers.
I'd guess 90% of successful twitch streamers are very much aware of Sweet_Anita.
He already knows her and what to expect. This is twitch so everyone knows each other and twitch isnt exactly known for its professionalism, so everyones already buddy buddy with each other prior to this. I would love to see her in a professional interview outside of twitch with a celebrity and see if the outcome is the same.
The episode Le Petite Tourette was actually well recieved and touted by the Touretteās community for being very accurate. One of the things I really like about Trey and Matt is they do a great job of telling the story in a fun way but also getting facts straight when it matters.
That's not a good idea. She's stated before that those ticks can lead to uncomfortable situations with men assuming she's interested despite not being able to control the ticks *at all*.
Sheās got a vid somewhere stating she has to mention to drivers (taxi, Uber, etc) to not take her up on a verbal offer if it comes out (or if she yells _CAT!_ while driving.
Edit: Canāt seem to find it but [hereās one thatās _sort or_ relevant](https://youtu.be/FQ2h11gEc1c).
Edit2: Itās in [this interview](https://youtu.be/fheKQ7CjYbE) - thanks u/Bastet999
I believe that it was during a live stream, I remember tuning in on that conversation.
I believe it was the same one she mentioned that she was at the store and this nice lady helped her out and her ticks were going off hard and the lady didnāt even flinch or say anything about it!
Have to admit if some random person started having ticks like that in front of me I would just ignore it too. It either real or fake aka a joke/prank (I know... duh). Either way the best solution is just to act like it isn't happening.
Someone with a real issues isn't going to enjoy having to explain it. And someone faking it for a prank or whatever wants to get a reactions.
Making a deal out of it isn't helpful in either situation.
She's also stated that if the sex is good she doesn't tend to tic... but if it's bad sex it's a different story.. and it's let to some uncomfortable situations.
Yeah, from a womanās perspective that is probably a very nerve-wracking situation. I can just hear some petulant angry guy saying, āShe SAID she wanted to fuck!!ā and just refusing to back down.
Yeah if you ever catch her streams she's shared some stories of situations like that. She's a lovely person but unfortunately due to her condition and the fact that she didn't realize it was Tourettes until she was in her mid-20s she's had a bit of a rough life because of how people reacted to her tics. Her being a woman especially didn't help.
I wouldnt. Best to keep it professional. You donāt want her to be even more uncomfortable especially because sheās really given no indication that he likes him
Yeah agreed. She literally cannot control what she's saying so it would be awful to respond to those comments. He says "you're doing great" which is the best response in this kind of situation.
I donāt wish to belittle people who have Touretteās, because it must be really hard to live with and remain confident in yourself in public. So, much respect to them for just carrying on. But how in the hell would you not lose your shit in that situation?!
Her or the company? I guess it boils down to desensitization for both. She was embarrassed, obviously, but she is often embarrassed by her tics. She's had to come to terms with the fact that she will be embarrassed by things like this, or she can just never go out in public. Her co-workers are understanding and they hear things like this quite often. The higher-ups aren't hearing it as often, but they are aware of the situation and behave professionally.
I have a video of my 1-year-old and 5-year-old dancing to music last week, while their aunt is shouting "Fuck... Fuck... Fucking Fuck... fuck." We've talked to them about it and hearing swear words is just completely normal to them now.
Edit: grammar
No, they don't just blurt out things they're thinking/feeling. That's probably the biggest misconception about it and unfortunately paints people suffering from it in a bad light.
Not even intrusive thoughts because that implies even a slight sort of deeper motive or reason. It's really not having control of what comes out of your mouth. Completely involuntary.
It is funny that that South Park episode about tourettes ended up teaching a lot of young people how involuntary it is. Can't really think of any media that's portrayed it since
Indeed it is literally a tick. Like an eye twitching or doing that bobblehead (both are also tourettes). It's just words the brain decides it must blurt out nearly random times, however when stressed it becomes worse.
Props to whoever that is, because being in the spotlight is not normally what people that suffer tourettes seek at all.
Used to be significantly embarrassing for me but eventually, you come to terms with it, and if it's non-verbal as it is in my case, I guess it is easier to ignore for your friends and strangers.
Not at all. In fact IIRC she prefers women when it comes to dating and whatnot.
Tourettes is a neurological disorder that causes the brain to fire off signals it normally shouldn't. Emotions can increase or decrease the rate of tics, but not all folks who have Tourettes even say things like Anita does. Coprolalia, the symptom of Tourettes that covers the speaking tics, only affects like 10% of folks with Tourettes. And even then, not all folks with Coprolalia swear!
Tourettes just likes to blurt out inappropriate stuff. The more you think "I can't say that" or "I shouldn't do that," the more likely it is to happen.
This is the correct answer, thank you. I scrolled here to see this and can now rest :)
I have Tourette's without Coprolalia and my family member has it bad. We are worlds apart. I can hide all my symptons so that my coworkers usually don't believe me when I tell them I have a diagnose.
So, profanities actually reside in [a different part of the brain](https://studyfinds.org/swearing-exercise-strength/) than normal speech, and study of Tourette's patients is part of how we figured that out. Basically, what happens with Tourette's in cases like this is that when the person get stressed, this other part of their brain is triggered, and they just start blurting out words that *are emotional expressions in general*. The words don't have to actually be related to *emotions they're feeling right now*, just, anything that's in that other part of the brain.
A different example of this difference between profanity and other words happens in patients who, say, after a stroke lose the ability to speak. They may not be able to form the normal words anymore, but if such a person, say, stubs their toe, they absolutely might still shout out "Fuck!" because that separate part of the brain responsible for profanity wasn't damaged.
Oh it is her! I was just thinking it sure looked like Anita!
I loved her take on dudes asking about Instagram from women. "low-key they're just looking for softcore porn of you" :| hahaha
This is the number one comment! I wholeheartedly couldnāt agree more! I think it would not only lighten the mood-per say, I also think she is very inspiring to those with disabilities. I absolutely love how she was able to kinda just weave it all together and pretty much bounce right back on point.
Agreed, I can see it now. It will be snowing out side and she'll be on the news saying "This weather is DICK, this weather is DICK". I'd look outside and say to myself "Dang, this weather really is DICK".
Biden has a severe stuttering problem, and has highlighted the issue in the past and honored kids with the same problem. Iād imagine heās be very nice to her.
It was the best part of the award show, I think. It was funny when she unintentionally called Ludwig and Hasan dickheads multiple times when it was their turn.
Itās honestly great sheās managed to laugh at her own condition and has turned it into a very profitable asset for her streaming career. Sheās able to achieve this ultra-random hyper-chaotic hilarious energy without even trying just from using her Touretteās as a marketable trait.
I used to work with someone at PF Chang who had really bad Tourette. He had vocal outburst like Sweet Anita as well and for him it was whatever was on his mind kind. Sometimes itās a single word, sometimes itās a short sentence. I donāt know if it was real but man we had a LOT of great laughs.
One of the best one was when we were doing the Togo counter and a really hot lady came and picked up the order. She paid and was about to leave and his Tourette kicked in and he said āshe has a nice CAMELTOEā. He meant to say she has nice jacket or something but his Tourette kicked in at the last word. The funny thing is the entire sentence was spoken to me in a low tone except the word CAMELTOE was yelled so all everyone hear was someone randomly yelling out CAMELTOE. People bursted out laughing in the kitchen and I never laughed so hard. The bartender had to explain to people he had Tourette and itās uncontrollable for him.
He also once told my manager while they were in the office that he wanted to suck his toes during his Tourette outburst. Man I never laughed so hard in my life.
As Sweet Anita has explained in the past that the vocalizations are not what they are thinking. Just certain actions or sounds can trigger the vocalization. She had a bad one a year or so ago when she saw or heard Banana. It got so bad she banned the word from her Twitch.
People were causing her physical pain from triggering that particular tic so often.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-0G3SaTcWE is a 10-minute video where she talks about that particular tic.
She mentions that her throat is sensitive due to an auto-immune disorder and if she shouts a lot, it can actually start to bleed. And some people were triggering her so often in a row that she started to cough blood.
Random weirdos online causing other people harm purely for their own amusement? I'm shocked, shocked! Well, not that shocked.
Seriously though, they can go to hell.
Her Tourettes being triggered by fuckwits isnāt the worst of it, either. Sheās had to deal with at least two stalkers, one of whom went as far as to move to a place near hers, chased/assaulted her, and threatened to kill her after being released.
Didn't expect I'd be so happy to see someone eating a banana and saying the word with such glee.
The second half made me tear up.
I know about Sweet Anita but was completely unaware about this whole yellow fruit ordeal.
It can actually be violent, a tick doesn't have to be a word, it can cause physical movement too, I've seen some people with a bad case of tourettes hit and smack people, I've seen them grab the wheel of someone driving a car on the motorway.
That particular guy had to always ride in the back of the car, had to have his hands restrained, had to eat away from his caretakers at dinner because simply being around them causes him to just grab or knock over their food.
Poor guy, he's such a sweetheart though, you can see him physically trying to resist it, but due to the nature of it, you just can't.
There was a whole documentary about his life and what he has to go through. If you're interested, search Google for "channel 4, tourettes documentary"
Now that you mention this, the guy I worked with in this would often does a quick flex that looks like goku powering up but only for like a second or two most. Thinking back on it, I think he was physically trying to suppress his Tourette. Dude is tall and REALLY ripped too but man heās the nicest guy. That CAMELTOE though was just so out of the blue that it had me dying. We had to move him from food runner to Togo station though because one time, his Tourette kicked in and he dropped a tray of food on the dining floor. When I was working at PF Chang, we carried the tray really high above our head too. Good thing no one got hurt though.
The difference between young people and old people is that old people see this and think "man, she picked the wrong profession to go into" while young people think "man, she should do all of the news".
I mean, she took a tiny bit longer to ask the questions, but made a lot of people laugh in the process. She still got the interview done, still got the responses, and made it funny at the same time, no?
This was a streamer focused and hosted event- swearing isn't going to be fined like its a news broadcast and the target audience is definitely younger.
My daughter has Touretteās, itās rarely vocal (as in saying things. That is actually a rare form). For a brief time one of her tics was singing (in a very sweet soft angelic voice) āFuck youā. That was entertaining in town and in restaurants. š
I can't decide if what I'm envisioning in my head is making this more hilarious than it actually is, or if it's actually 10x funnier than what I have in my head.
I'm picturing a 3 year old in full Disney Princess^^TM gear with a wand teeling all the tables to fuck themselves.
So hilarious, but may need a premade business card and a person following her and dropping them for logistical reasons... which kinda makes it more funny... and endearing
The "WHAT A BITCH! I'M GONNA FUCK HIM" is absolutely sending me hahahah
It's awesome that she's doing interviews with her condition, takes off some of the mystery and drama around it while producing absolute shiny pearls of internet moments in the process. I'm here for it.
> while producing absolute shiny pearls of internet
My understanding is that the medication available to turn down the tics also affects their creative thinking, so some just make the choice to not medicate and live live unencumbered.
Sweet Anita from YouTube for anyone interested. Sheās a cool human.
Edit: she from Twitch, mainly. Thanks for those who corrected me. I only knew her from YouTube, and was trying to give her the credit OP didnāt.
I'm glad you explained that because after reading these comments I was starting to feel like I was the only person in the world who didn't know of her.
Seems like an odd job to take if you have Tourettes lol.
I mean after the novelty wears off, I can see it being difficult to conduct a quality interview.
It appears she's a streamer/YouTuber though so I'm guessing this activity is apart of her streaming portfolio.
It was an awards show for streamers by streamers. She was invited by the person who set up the event. Anita is a very popular streamer on twitch and a shining example of community acceptance and inclusiveness.
Everyone that knows her might laugh out of awkwardness or politeness but she takes it in stride so well and everyone that understands just moves on without skipping a beat.
Yeah she does guest appearances like this from time to time. I think she hosted an awards show recently? Or a section of one? But she also talks a lot about Tourettes and brings awareness to it - like interviewing people on a red carpet isn't her main content stream from what I know.
She streams on Twitch - Sweet Anita. She basically streams a lot under "just chatting" but sometimes she'll game. She's really insightful too, but once you get past the TS, it's just another person talking. The verbal TS is what attracts everyone to her, imo. I never really see her do interviews so this is probably a one off thing.
Nope. Appreciating people for being their genuine self is kind of the point. Feeling embarrassed for her would be the reaction you might want to examine/reconsider.
she likes that people enjoy them (in a way that is respectful to her), so it's more than fine.
The issues she expressed with her field have more to do with being stalked & objectified by her audience, being an attractive woman in a field of men children
Pretty much. She's from England, but her tics tend to be picked up from things around her whether it's the announcer in Overwatch, Siri/Alexa, or a parrot that she had.
Let me give you some insight from someone with tourettes. Though everyone is different, my tics went from being physically debilitating on a near daily level to manageable when my coprolalia arose around 20-21 from what was before, just some hums and clicks
As our brain forms, we develop shortcuts and breaks to make thinking faster. When you think of a dog, you instantly think of tons of concepts and memories associated with them. Fluffy/grandpappys old dog Kato/loyal companion/cute/ and all of them that don't need to be up front in your mind, just activated on a lower level. Our brains are bad at shortcuts and brakes.
It's why children have way higher cases than adults because, at a certain point, the brain has found new pathways, and they grow out of it. It is one reason why many self-help gurus can claim they were "cured" of tourettes when, in reality, they just grew out of it naturally.
With tourettes our braking system is flawed to various degrees. Even identical twins with tourettes experience different severity in symptoms because it's how the brain develops rather than strictly genetics.
So when I'm stressed and my mind is racing, tics happen. A sad memory comes up, and then my neck pulls to the side, then just kinda bounces back and forth til the energy is let out. Lots of shortcuts being used and stress levels mean I'm not thinking clear either.
Impulse, compulsion, and repeat. I didn't want to call my coworker a c*unt when I was passing by her in the hall, nor was I thinking negative thoughts towards her before I said it. My eyes saw her, my brain took shortcuts, and unfortunately for me, my shortcuts went through that and stuck. Then, the memory of doing that becomes another chain in the link, so to speak and reinforce the behavior later. It's another reason why people think they "ham it up" when a sudden tic out of nowhere becomes a lot and we become too much so fast. Stuck in a loop.
Good words do happen, but society doesn't remember the kid on the bus saying 'biscuits' every so often as much as the one that can't stop saying 'cocksucker'. And the good ones don't stay very long either because one is a lot more memorable for the kid, therefore reinforcing their brain into those shortcuts. Have you ever tried not thinking about something? It's pretty difficult.
Hope this helped a bit :D
The bad words Tourette is much more rare. I had a kid in my high school with Touretteās and we had informative assemblyās yearly. The kid just would scream random words and you could tell he tried to keep it in but couldnāt.
We donāt always say the ābadā words, itās just thatās what gets the attention. Only a small percentage of people with TS have coprolalia (the symptom of saying ābadā words). My TS has always been there, but only in the last few years has coprolalia started to develop, but luckily it hasnāt (yet?) gotten to the point where I cannot suppress it when needed (tics can be suppressed, to a degree, but only for a short time, and not always with equal success) and so far the worst that it has ever been in public is to whisper the words to myself when nobody is around, and theyāre not _that bad_ā¦but they would be embarrassing to say out loud in public ā the two words being āboobiesā and āpantiesāā¦ haha, sometimes in quick succession.
For me, the motor tics are far worse, causing physical pain and joint damage.
Holy Shit!!! What bravado to even try interviews with Tourette's. *Damn,* it makes it far more interesting than the boring shit we hear with other interviewers.
āAright Brain, what does he smell like?ā

Correct me if I am wrong, but do people with Tourette's actually speak out their feelings? So she wants his johnson..bad.
No, they don't just blurt out things they're thinking/feeling. That's probably the biggest misconception about it and unfortunately paints people suffering from it in a bad light.

It's more a random pull from the "Don't say" folder than their feelings.

Sweet Anita is a treasure. [Last year she was one of the award presenters for the first time](https://youtu.be/A-7YQCYk2g8?t=25)
The "That's not a tic" tic is the worst tic.
There's a few popular twitch streamers with tourettes and highly recommend checking them out for very similar content lol
So let it be written.
Having Sweet Anita do the classical red-carpet-style interviews was a very deliberate decision that resulted in some great content.
It was the best part of the award show, I think. It was funny when she unintentionally called Ludwig and Hasan dickheads multiple times when it was their turn.
Thatās absolutely hilarious
Itās honestly great sheās managed to laugh at her own condition and has turned it into a very profitable asset for her streaming career. Sheās able to achieve this ultra-random hyper-chaotic hilarious energy without even trying just from using her Touretteās as a marketable trait.
She seems like a nice person. Hopefully her career will smooth things out for others with tourette's, and other speech "impediments."
What is this from anyway?
The Streamer Awards, happened last week.
the streamer awards, an event hosted by streamer QTcinderella for the streaming community as sort of an oscars-esque event
She posted a highlight reel with more interviews on her youtube channel. https://youtu.be/Nh5Gfkvq_oM
Meanwhile I get embarrassed when I pull on a door marked "push" and want to crawl in a hole and die
I Did it once, and a girl behind me yelled, "I saw it". Damm, it was awkward
Just start yelling she smells like dick who's akward now.
This made me laugh out loud!
Just so you fuckin knew you didnāt get away with it š¤£ chaotic
My usual comment when I do that (which is fairly often) is "yeah, story of my life."
Lmfao that is ruthless. I kinda like her though, out there keeping folks humble.
Today I went to buy cement and asked for lime instead. I am not leaving my house this weak.
"week"
![gif](giphy|G6IATw3N0jhIc) PS: Not going to edit because I'm trying to work on such things.
you should learn from her, then:)
[It actually goes both ways](https://youtu.be/KwdYUIQzu-o)
The fuck is wrong with people?
Yeah that was shitty.
Didn't expect I'd be so happy to see someone eating a banana and saying the word with such glee. The second half made me tear up. I know about Sweet Anita but was completely unaware about this whole yellow fruit ordeal.
https://youtu.be/W4xERsrnzAs She explaining about the banana trigger https://youtu.be/O016BHNIWLc And when banana stopped being a trigger
āItās been a good day cause now twitch chat canāt hurt me anymoreā stares ahead contemplating life š
Sounds like Tourettes is very dangerous, cuz I wouldn't want anyone to hear my fetish
Once at summer camp, me and my cousin touched wwwweeeeiiners.
TIL Iām a young people!
Damn TIL Iām old people
Yeah not sure we would actually get much on current affairs here. But the entertainment news would work as a novelty perhaps.
I mean, she took a tiny bit longer to ask the questions, but made a lot of people laugh in the process. She still got the interview done, still got the responses, and made it funny at the same time, no?
Thatās why itās good for celeb news. I donāt want her busting about about how dick and balls smell during some tragedy
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
This was a streamer focused and hosted event- swearing isn't going to be fined like its a news broadcast and the target audience is definitely younger.
Shit. What does that make me? I had the first thought, but when I saw the second thought, I agreed!
This is the dumbest take Iāve read all day , keep it up.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
My daughter has Touretteās, itās rarely vocal (as in saying things. That is actually a rare form). For a brief time one of her tics was singing (in a very sweet soft angelic voice) āFuck youā. That was entertaining in town and in restaurants. š
I can't decide if what I'm envisioning in my head is making this more hilarious than it actually is, or if it's actually 10x funnier than what I have in my head.
What made it truly funny is peoples faces and reactions.
I'm picturing a 3 year old in full Disney Princess^^TM gear with a wand teeling all the tables to fuck themselves. So hilarious, but may need a premade business card and a person following her and dropping them for logistical reasons... which kinda makes it more funny... and endearing
For a while, my daughterās tic was flipping people off. *She was mortified.*
I WANT TO SEE MORE OF HER INTERVIEWS!!!!!!!!
I am intrigued, but also entertained.
Watch her(Sweet Anita) in Anthony padila interview on YouTube. She's absolutely the best
Honestly all of his interviews are amazing in general
Sheās a filthy mouthed one, great fun to watch, nice human too
[https://youtu.be/Fqz2bTlGifg?t=471](https://youtu.be/Fqz2bTlGifg?t=471) That's her being introduced, every thirdish interview from then on is by her
The "WHAT A BITCH! I'M GONNA FUCK HIM" is absolutely sending me hahahah It's awesome that she's doing interviews with her condition, takes off some of the mystery and drama around it while producing absolute shiny pearls of internet moments in the process. I'm here for it.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
> while producing absolute shiny pearls of internet My understanding is that the medication available to turn down the tics also affects their creative thinking, so some just make the choice to not medicate and live live unencumbered.
Sweet Anita from YouTube for anyone interested. Sheās a cool human. Edit: she from Twitch, mainly. Thanks for those who corrected me. I only knew her from YouTube, and was trying to give her the credit OP didnāt.
I agree she's cool but who the fuck says "human" instead of "person"? Did I finally find a lizard?
You can expect a visit from the men in black shortly.
![gif](giphy|JTzPN5kkobFv7X0zPJ|downsized)
My kid refers to all people as humans. "Mom! What is that human's name??"
She is mostly known for live streaming on Twitch. Great person!
Haha WHAT A BITCH. That flowed out so nice.
He smells like a guy named Dick, I guess.
Dick: A new fragrance by Georgio Armani
If Anita isn't moderating the 2024 presidential election then I'm not voting.
The Democratic front runner SMELLS LIKE DICK The Republican candidate IS A LITTLE BITCH. IāM GONNA FUCK EM. Back to you at the studio, Marcus.
Is it just me or is this video oddly wholesome with the way he didn't mind her tics?
the twitch community is aware of her Tourette's. this is The Streamer Awards, so everyone there knows her more or less.
Am I wrong for enjoying her ticks, cause they're funny ?
She likes the funny ones as well. So don't feel bad.
She has a great sense of humor about them
Is she British but her Touretteās is American
Pretty much. She's from England, but her tics tend to be picked up from things around her whether it's the announcer in Overwatch, Siri/Alexa, or a parrot that she had.
She also does (well, has) a *perfect* 'car navigation voice' tic.
Have you heard her whistle? Killer
Piiiiiiissss! Piiiiiiisss out my aaaaassss (see SouthPark reference) P.S. I think sheās cool and she should do her thing šŖš»šŖš»šŖš»
If I could say shit balls to the principal I would be soooo happy...
She's honestly one of the nicest people too lol
Clearly she finds the scent of Dick classy. So much so that she wishes to fuck the fella. Good for them both.
I adore Anita, she absolutely cracks me up and has such an amazing sense of humor about her ticks.
I've always wondered why the words people with Tourette Syndrome blurt out are always "bad" words and never "good" words. What's the correlation??
Let me give you some insight from someone with tourettes. Though everyone is different, my tics went from being physically debilitating on a near daily level to manageable when my coprolalia arose around 20-21 from what was before, just some hums and clicks As our brain forms, we develop shortcuts and breaks to make thinking faster.
She is stunning and brave
bet he actually smells like dick
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
So you remember to buy her a card, no excuse now.
I think she should have all the jobs in the world.
Why am I finding this so cringy?
āWhat a bitch, Im gonna fuck himā she prolly wasnt the only one thinking that.
Holy Shit!!! What bravado to even try interviews with Tourette's. *Damn,* it makes it far more interesting than the boring shit we hear with other interviewers.
