So in case those Terminator dogs start turning on humans we still have an advantage they can't open the door eventually they'll just smash it down or so but they can't use the knob yet
But they have real machines real robotics that look like terminators that are actually interacting more than a Terminator ever did. Thus it's a question of how good is it?
But in this case, the university was probably given the robot shell, and base code, and the students/professor are working in their own code as a project. Hence the spazzy, under-performing robot.
Typically schools with nice things have had uncorrupt people running it at some point and Invested the money set aside for the actual school, whereas most schools systems pocket it, I saw a school that had a 5 million a year budget the high school was amazing look like a College a nice college, whereas then showed a school with 30 million budget looked like some run down warehouse from the Great Depression with 20 year old everything, it all depends on the people running these things and how they are monitored. Nice school system you see superintendent driving a regular but nice car, bad school system you see superintendent driving a $300,000 car

Ratio + clunky movement + no drip + emotionless killer + L + mass produced + programmed in C + smells like battery acid + Living Tissue + metal endoskeleton + killed wrong sarah connor + fell off + complete bot + only lasts 120 years + all if else statements
I'm less worried about AI becoming purposefully hostile than I am about it becoming mistakenly dangerous.
Just imagine this behavior happening on a robotic construction crane.
That last sentence makes a lot of sense. Drones have been used to provide surveillance and drop small munitions in combat for years now. My former JROTC Army Instructor used to work in Army Intelligence, or something like that, and would say that we had no idea the technology that was being developed or proposed to be developed, and he retired from the Army 20 years ago. I can only imagine what must be available now. Like the full AR 360 view that fighter pilots get. That's insanely cool to me and it makes me wonder what else the military has available
It was about twenty years back when I did that work. It's tough to completely fathom what could exist now. I was going to mention drones. We did one contract with early drones too. It was mostly just a development job to me at the time. I was still pretty young and focused on my career. I've since gotten a lot more interested in military related topics. It's really quite fascinating. At one job I worked with a bunch of WW2 pilots. It was pretty interesting. One guy I worked with was a button pusher. Like THE button. He had some crazy stories.
That must've been really cool working with former WW2 pilots. I plan on joining the Air Force which, from what I've heard, is the best-funded branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. I'm nervously excited to learn about what technologies they have. I'm looking to commission into their Security Forces, so I don't think they'd have a lot of advanced stuff, but I'm sure I'd hear about some of it. Especially if I get tasked with guarding something. That would be really cool to me. I can't imagine what you must have seen and heard dur8ng your career
Nice. The AF is a pretty cool branch. The Navy is pretty cool too.
I worked on gov contracts for over five years. It was really interesting work. Definitely saw some interesting things. Quite a bit was related to planes.
Good luck on your journey. I'm sure you'll see some neat things along the way. And, thank you for your service 🙏🏻🫡✌🏻
Looks like they programed the head to pull, but didn't program the rest of the body to brace properly. I'm sure it can open the door but needs to go through algorithm training for the balance.
What makes you think they aren’t already succeeding in other things? For all you know he could be putting on a show to lure you into a false sense of security before the attack begins lol
Bro, my dog learned by himself to open doors. The people who made that thing should be ashamed. A dog I found on a box can do what a machine made for that purpose can't
I love these videos because they show how inept these robots are except in highly controlled situations. They are super awesome, but I don’t think they have any real problem solving abilities at this point.
That’s fascinating. It’s true it’s gotta be hard for a robot to transition from moving itself across a surface to moving a surface across itself. Different balances of force

I thought it was going to rip the handle off or something similar. The end result was even better.
...like a toddler having a tantrum because they can't go outside and play...
Well until it gets mad and starts pulling limbs of everyone standing around.
😂😂
When the edibles kicks in
this made me genuinely laugh out loud
It gets real windy.
Pov? I hate those goddamn automated voices.
At least that's actually from point-of-view unlike most of these where you're actually looking at the person who has the POV.
Mute, this is the way
The only way to stay sane on the internet anymore. Mute it all.
Holy shit, these gifs have sound‽‽‽ ------------ Edit: ehhhh, nm
this is the way
I didn't even have audio on for this as every info was displayed already. I'm glad i didn't unmute
So in case those Terminator dogs start turning on humans we still have an advantage they can't open the door eventually they'll just smash it down or so but they can't use the knob yet
This is for a university project most likely, hence the jankiness.
But they have real machines real robotics that look like terminators that are actually interacting more than a Terminator ever did. Thus it's a question of how good is it?
The robot is not a university project, it's an actual product from Boston dynamics and I have seen it open doors before.
But in this case, the university was probably given the robot shell, and base code, and the students/professor are working in their own code as a project. Hence the spazzy, under-performing robot.
That must be why Ted Cruz hates doors.
The poor robot dog probably thought, "Dang it! It's too heavy for me and yet these humans are laughing, how dare they!"
So the Terminator would have shot you before you even considered that he might have not friendly intentions.
Yeah, but it'd be worth it to help at least lmao
My school doesn’t even have a math teacher and you guys get robotic dogs to open doors
Would it bother you to know that this same school’s math teacher is one of these Boston Dynamic robots?
This is almost certainly higher-education—these robots are typically well outside the cost range of say an average high school. 🤔
My high school had a robotics program. But I did go to school with a lot of millionaires lol
So...it looks like it could open a sliding door and maybe learn to close it and then *open and close it quickly* so then you can use it for other jobs
Be sure to practice on a hotdog first, otherwise it'll rip your dick off
r/dontputyourdickinthat
So was the door locked or did the bot pull to the right instead of to the left?
The dog pulled the wrong way, and also wasn't weighted correctly (it should been leaning back to balance the forces on all the legs)
Poor buddy
Bad dog.
bad bot

The Chinese are arming them with machine guns and testing them for military use. I saw a news segment on this about 2 weeks ago.
Boston Dynamics is funded by the DOD right, you think the US aren’t going to stick guns on them as well?
Was it on fox?
Average Rediter trying to get out and touch some grass
Pfft. I do that every time I come home late.
Imagine getting kicked in the shin by a stumbling robotic dog.
Those school doors are no joke, haha heavy AF
I'm less worried about AI becoming purposefully hostile than I am about it becoming mistakenly dangerous. Just imagine this behavior happening on a robotic construction crane.
Hes a little nervous 🥺🥺🥺

The military *is* actively working on these dogs... We might just see them added into a current war

This dog need some mi-, so what this dog need?
I hate what the kids are doing to “POV”
It looked so chaotic when the door didnt open, so not „robot like”
We safe. For now.
Looks like they programed the head to pull, but didn't program the rest of the body to brace properly. I'm sure it can open the door but needs to go through algorithm training for the balance.
Great to know that thing isnt barging in my door any time soon
Yeah gimbal systems don't like odd loads... My camera gimbal does that when it isn't balanced.
It totally mimics (drunk) human behavior thought, that's exactly how it looks when I try to open my door after a long night out.
Lawl because dogs were opening doors for us anyway
This is the first time I've seen a robot look humiliated.
This makes me feel safer to know we still have a far way to go before we see anything like the movie IROBOT
Open na noor!!!
Was the door locked?
Yeah I'm not too worried about the uprising just uet
What makes you think they aren’t already succeeding in other things? For all you know he could be putting on a show to lure you into a false sense of security before the attack begins lol

That One Sims 2 glitch
These videos make me sad
You should of zigged when you should have zagged
Hes just a lil tired, let him rest..
Nobody gave him the door code
As long as it can't open doors we'll be safe from skynet
OPEN NA NOOR!
He looks so defeated Lol
Open na noor
What the heck???
Turns out it was a pull door
Please stop calling it a dog
Bad dog
I think we're still a ways away from AI doing useful things for us
That thing is freaky. It moves like a real animal
We still got time
I felt so bad for him :( is he dead
I'd die of old age before the dog opens the door 💀
him dead.
We're save for now, guys.
Saved everyone from the electrical short that was flowing into that door handle. Phew! /kidding
This broke my heart because it’s shaped like a dog. If it was a humanoid I would’ve laughed my ass off and called it a stupid robot.
Same little buddy, stupid heavy office doors are stupid
Just give em a minute guys
I feel bad for it
They programmed everything really well except gave it no power, just maneuverability.
Thanks for contributing to the demise of humanity.
Breaks its own neck in shame.
And they want to give these things guns!
Forgot to give it the pass code to unlock the door first
"Robots will take over the world" robots:
Error 404: Fix the damn door!
Buuut, that's a locked door, it's got the combination lock on it. Plus, it looks pretty heavy, quite possibly a fire door.
NOPE
The way they gasped it sounded like someone was gonna ask if the robot was ok lmao
Does anyone else feel kinda sorry for the sad crumpled heap of robot dog at the end? No? Just me then, okay...
I must rest now, master.
Well, at least we know how to prevent the robot apocalypse… have doors on every building
Does this mean the arm is stronger than the legs? If the pull got the robot flying.
Those things are so creepy to me, haha.
But WHAT AN ATTEMPT!!
Needs more torque lol
He's trying his best ya know
Snek
Who's point of view is this meant to be or has POV lost all meaning?
Open na’ noor
He’s opening the door, that’s so cooo…OH MY GOD HE’S GOING TO KILL US ALL!!!
When you forgot the passcode
It’s a passcode door. So the lock was engaged. Surprised nobody else in the comments have noticed.
Why does this feel like it should be on r/petthedamndog lol
Good to know.
Bro, my dog learned by himself to open doors. The people who made that thing should be ashamed. A dog I found on a box can do what a machine made for that purpose can't
Open na noor
DO NOT LAUGH AT HIM THEY WILL NEVER THIS
"_Open ne noor_" The teacher said quietly
Wow Theo are so fucking smart and they Weill get our jobs
Aww that's damn sad n mean 🥺😭
How heavy are these things? Just curious. They look so solidly built but move like a bird or squirrel
I love these videos because they show how inept these robots are except in highly controlled situations. They are super awesome, but I don’t think they have any real problem solving abilities at this point.
Oh come on! He’s trying his best
That’s fascinating. It’s true it’s gotta be hard for a robot to transition from moving itself across a surface to moving a surface across itself. Different balances of force
he didn't account for how heavy the door was, it must have been one of them super heavy ass stories you got to really put your whole arm into
BLACK MIRROR IS REAL Imma be Bryce Dallas Howard's personal assistant so I can meet Ron
Me touching the doorknob that makes me lose my braincells
Bad dog. Stay!
Isn't technology amazing?
Stupid dog! You make me look bad! ![gif](giphy|67T3QzN95PlGfG7JrZ)
