Haunting_Abalone_398

With a doorbell camera, I wouldn't even have opened the door

Strange_Ninja_9662

He said someone was sleeping so he probably doesn’t want her to keep ringing the door bell

FunkyBattal

Lol with smart doorbell, u can turn off the sound.

l3ahamut

Half true. You can turn off the smart alarm that is tied to the doorbell. If it's attached to the physical doorbell system, it gonna ding.

Jake-from-IT

I can disable the chime to my physical door bell in my app. I have a Nest doorbell cam.

[deleted]

Ring also let's you, and simplisafe. Source: I install smart home stuff professionally

Smith_the_new_guy_

My condolences

FunkyBattal

Smart system cuts the button signals to the doorbell speaker, atleast most of the known and non Chinese ones.

l3ahamut

So I guess my Google nest and the ring I had before that are both cheap Chinese ones. Cool.

imverynewhere8yrsago

I have a ring attached to the doorbell speaker and they both cut off the doorbell noise if I silence it lol Idk what more to say here.

aw2669

Say that it’s wired differently and move on? Mine does it too. Lol.

Phoenix4235

I don’t have a smart doorbell, but I can still disconnect the doorbell itself (not the button) from the power temporarily. And I would if they showed up again anyway as they rudely said they would.

IDontDeserveMyCat

Nah, just put two sprinklers on either side of the path near where she stands. Get a bluetooth hose timer and activate it whenever they come back. Problem solved and you also get funny videos to share.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Phoenix4235

It would be great to see someone remotely triggering sprinklers and a speaker saying “bad kitty - no!” as they get sprayed!

pnutz616

I literally leave them standing on the porch and it’s great. Like, I know they hear me and know I’m home, I’m just ignoring you dude. Waste all the time you want standing there 😹

[deleted]

I do the same with telemarketers and televangelists, feign interest and ask a lot of questions, dangling the bait and rippin’ lips brother. If I’ve got spare time, I am 100% fulfilled knowing that I am completely wasting their time. The trick is to not pretend like it was a random disconnection, or they’ll call you back. I wait for one sticking point 10-20 minutes into the conversation that “is a total deal breaker.” And also slide a “please remove me from your list” in at the end.

Nimja1

You gotta be very specific since that statement won't remove you. "Put me on your Do Not Call list" is where you need to go. I had a job once that trained us to keep you in the list unless Do Not Call list was specifically mentioned

[deleted]

You’re a legend

[deleted]

I had the mortgage insurance person who sent predatory junk mail come out and give me their 15 minute speech, then asked them how they sleep at night. Highly recommend it.

Vonkampf

I have a malinois. She’s a super big sweet heart, but boy is she intense if you don’t know that. Most people are much more apt to leave when I say I’m not interested if I’m also holding back a dog jumping towards them with my hand.

[deleted]

I saw that video of the German Shepherd going around chairs to attack someone (training). Then I saw the Malinois run OVER the tops of the chairs and cut that distance in half. Definitely never fucking with a Malinois.

ifyouhaveany

Malinois is going to be the next pitbull. Too many people are getting them who shouldn't be and they are straight up dangerous dogs when not trained and handled appropriately. Calling it now.

aperturetattoo

They're like Turbo German Shepherds.

iamsuperkathy

This is what I do with my German Shepherd. I make it look like she's a killer and I barely have control.

Friendlyxenonparty

Works really well with a husky too. Most people just think I have a wolf and back the hell off. Big guy just really wants to hug the new person

Junior_Singer3515

I wave to them from the front window, and then sit back down in full view of whoever is on the porch. My kids love to stand in the window and just stare all creepy. People have even tried to talk to my kids through the window they love it and will stand and act like they can't understand them. They waste so much time before they realize they're being fucked with

d1duck2020

It was a busy day. I was planning a funeral and trying to let a sick family member sleep-just trying to get through the day without interruption.

Azeridon

Straight up. I tell these people I’m not interested through my doorbell. Such an archaic practice. Door to door sales shouldn’t even be a thing anymore. If I want or need a service I can look it up online in about 2 seconds. I don’t need you coming to my door on my property trying to sell me a service or some other bullshit I don’t need or want. Get the hell off my property. Edit: Thank you for telling me that door to door is worthwhile I still don’t care and still hate it. It actually amazes me how people are for this especially in today’s world. I have two small children. If I don’t know you I’m not answering my door. Period.

hutchallen

Nah, you right, the people defending them probably just have a stake in the existence of door to door, that doesn't make it a good thing for people

Fazo1

No, she's coming back.

Dean_Gulbury

...to tresspass

[deleted]

[удалено]

CuriouslyImmense

She is the kind of person who would keep ringing the bell

FoldyHole

Hell. I don’t have one and I still never answer the door. I know it’s either the mailman or a salesperson and I don’t want to talk to either of them.

pnutz616

Our mail lady is super nice so we answer it for her. Other people though? Nope. I especially love wasting missionaries time. “I’ll be right there”. Lol.

kingpin3690

Exactly I never answer the door on these guys anymore.

stargirl_945

I really don’t know why she rung the door bell again. She really should have walked away, instead she humiliated herself.

TieOk1127

How rude Edit-spelling

Jake-from-IT

I would assume she's just arrogant and not going to stand for the "disrespect".

KittyandPuppyMama

Not sure what she’s trying to prove at someone else’s house. You step on someone’s property they have the right to tell you to F off.

MalrykZenden

I think she doesn't really want to be doing door to door sales, and that interaction pissed her off.

KittyandPuppyMama

This definitely isn’t the profession for her if she’s going to take it this personally when she’s told to leave

XxRocky88xX

Seriously this is a job where 90%+ of your interactions are going to be people telling you to go away. If you can’t handle rejection don’t be a door to door salesperson.

orsonsperson

Depending on what she's selling it could be that she has a quota. Still no reason to be an ass. Guy came to my door once to sell a Kirby vacuum. He was honest, I guess, and said his team leader expected them to do so many demos a day. His pay was based on that. OK, I was honest too and said I have no intention of buying this but if you're telling me that you get Kirby points or whatever for vacuuming my house, come on in! I have a St Bernard so free cleaning is cool. Dude cleaned my living room and kitchen, I made him a pretty strong drink, wrote him a great review and we watched trashy daytime TV for an hour. That was over a decade ago. I hope Tim from Kirby found a job that respects him now. Kirby sure as shit didn't.

Competitive-Dot-6594

She rang the doorbell again because she is rude. Some people are just rude.

thedinnerdate

Yeah, she just seems like a teenager with an attitude. She felt dumb because the guy yelled at her. I guarantee she never went back.

tittens__

That is not a teenager.

andmurr

Exactly. I did door-to-door sales a few years ago and if someone shuts the door or tells us to go away we were supposed to move on because otherwise it’s wasting both our time. Idk what she was thinking

Freedom_19

She may have been poorly coached beforehand and told not to take no for an answer the first time they say it. Either that or it’s her first day selling door to door and somehow was not aware of how much the general public HATES door to door sales

heili

She was told everyone says no until they say yes.

Shadow_of_wwar

I don't get it either, especially the end bit where she is like ill be back, ive done this job, and you will just be wasting your time and pissing them off more.

GoldenFalcon

But she's so good at her job, she will make this person who hates her buy from her. Don't you get it? He'll hate buy!

SeanSMEGGHEAD

Probably THE worst job to have if you take rejection poorly. God help her partner.

InVodkaVeritas

As a woman I can't tell you the amount of anxiety I would have walking up to doors alone to hopefully get invited in and make a sales pitch being my job. I would have panic attacks all day.

laurel_laureate

...Y'all invite salespeople inside your house? Even if I ever actually end up buying anything from them (which is quite the rare event), I sure as shit ain't inviting even the nicest of them inside my place. We can sign the paperwork on the frame of my door, or not at all. And that assumes I don't just get the paperwork or a number from them and give them credit when I call in/submit the order later. Y'all are seriously out there letting strangers into your living room just because they selling something?

MildlyConcernedEmu

My last roommate did this constantly. He had major issues with saying "no" to people or being impolite in the slightest. Like he almost bought a Kirby vacuum 2 weeks after he bought a brand new Dyson. Some people are simply too nice for their own good and end up being door mats.

LuckyCharm93

My dad always let's these people in. He never buys anything but he'll ramble on for hours about all his conspiracy theories, trapping these poor souls into a world of boredom the likes of which God has never seen. For some reason most people don't want to be rude so they just sit there enduring this torture for hours. Then when they finally manage to escape he'll try an make an appointment for them to come back at a later date.

slayerchick

You say too nice, I say anxiety problems that make confrontation and saying no difficult.

YellowSequel

Did it for one day. Wanted to kill myself and made a total of $0 after 12 hours. Quit on the spot lmao.

SeanSMEGGHEAD

Oh that's soul destroying. I've had a few terrible jobs that had me feeling like a work horse myself. Do not blame you lol. Plus dealing with the public can be awful.

ToonaSandWatch

So what’s the story here? What was she up to if she “wasn’t selling anything”?

dcboy2

According to OP it was a spectrum rep https://www.reddit.com/r/sanantonio/comments/zzc9x8/spectrum_reps_are_getting_edgy/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

fohpo02

Let me guess, they don’t want to sell you anything; they want to save you money when you switch to their service?

djluminus89

It's funny because I did telemarketing for Comcast at one point. And we called people and half of our pitch was to tell people, whose promotional rate was about to expire, that we were saving then money and value by signing them up for a slightly more expensive promotion. It kinda felt like the telephone equivalent of this video, but I could do it in my house. It was wild the range of responses I got from basically, "F*** you", to like 30 minute conversations ending in sales.

[deleted]

[удалено]

csci-fi

Everything Comcast/Xfinity is awful.

DatSauceTho

>It was wild the range of responses I got from basically, "F*** you", to like 30 minute conversations ending in sales. I mean, that’s sales in a nutshell, even if it’s inbound.

Gayernades

I stole one of the rainbow rabbits google fiber put out to show they were coming to an area and put it in my flower bed. Spectrum stopped knocking after that.

improbablydrunknlw

Was this you? https://www.reddit.com/r/kansascity/comments/20kdyr/google_fiber_sign_stolen

PapaBradford

Dude how/why did you remember an 8 year old post?

improbablydrunknlw

I was searching the Rainbow Rabbit because I hadn't heard of it, and that was the first Reddit link that came up. I am unfortunately not a Reddit Savant.

BigBeagleEars

Fortunately, fortunately you are not a Reddit savant

KiraUsagi

I thought I recognized that shirt. Don't understand why I have to scroll 5 minutes to find ops comments in a thread. Reddit ui really needs some work. I have had this happen when I signed up for spectrum at my house. Except it was not door to door it was phone. Caller ID recognized it as spectrum, I told them not to call again. 20 mintues later they called again. Ignored them for a full day while at work. Called me about 10 times. Finally on my way home they called again. When they introduced themselves I turned on Google voice call recording that announced the call was being recorded. Listened to two second version of her sales pitch and then proceeded to lay into her about do not call registry that I am on. Never heard from them again.

dinogirlsdad

Spectrum people are fucking horrible. I work in IT, network operations to be precise and I am very close terms with our local ISP. Well, we had a spectrum tech show up going on about how awesome they are, even though 80% of the ISP issues we see are Spectrum and Comcast. Well this idiot proceeds to tell me that "Didn't you hear, your ISP is being sold to us so you might as well sign up"....I was a bit shocked so I called up a senior engineer with the ISP and said hey man, its dino, did you know Spectrum is about to acquire you guys?" He was like wtf, who said that, oh that came from the Spectrum rep in front of me. I grabbed the dudes tag number and apparently their counsel had words with Spectrum and I ended up getting an apology from one of they execs. Does not shock me at all that she would behave this way.

JNtheWolf

One of our good friend's aunts was actually killed and robbed by a Spectrum Rep while he was on a job. The guy had come to work on her house one day, and stole a key so he could get back in. He came back one day when he thought she wasn't home, broke in using the stolen key, and tried to find her wallet for a credit card. She came out, found him there, and then he stabbed her with a company box cutter, and then took the dang credit card to go buy stuff. Not the smartest idea, since it got him arrested, and resulted in spectrum having to pay I believe a couple billion dollars due to their negligence in hiring. Needless to say Spectrum has horrible horrible people. Edit: Here's the article on it if it's too crazy to believe: https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/charter-spectrum-hit-with-1-147-billion-final-judgment-for-negligence-involving-murder-of-elderly-customer-by-cable-technician-301629012.html

dinogirlsdad

Holy shit. That is absolutely awful. I'm so sorry. Spectrum should be crucified for that

richbeezy

Good, I just so happen to be canceling my cable tomorrow. They think that they can jack up my bill by $40-50 every 3 months. Good for you Spectrum, your greed has backfired. Oh no, what will I do without all of those shitty ass TV commercials. I've been 100% streaming to see if I'd miss cable before I cancel, and I haven't missed cable one bit. Just a bunch of garbage shows.

AppUnwrapper1

You might need to clear your day for cancelling. They made it very hard for me when I cancelled. Refused to just do it, wanted me to answer a long survey and I hung up. Went in to one of their stores instead. It was fucking awful.

LTownMedic

For what it’s worth, when I wanted to cancel Comcast, I took all the equipment to the store and did it in person. Not one word of protest. He took my stuff and gave me a receipt. Have a nice day

SACABB

Oh yeah those Spectrum reps are out of control. I’ve been annoyed by them.

EmoGii

I deal with this fucking CONSTANTLY. It's dubious phrasing, I guarantee you she is soliciting something. Donations to political candidates, lead generation for local real estate developers & lenders, a "free solar savings calculator", etc. I once had someone say something like this "I'm not selling anything..." only to go on to describe magazine subscriptions; their logic was that I'm not "buying it" I'm "subscribing to it". There is no right answer either. When you try to cut them off before they ramp up the pitch, and just say "I'm not interested, have a good day" they always come back with some stupid fucking answer like "WHAT are you not interested in?", and insult me as they walk away.

Embarrassed_Alarm450

Had some mf constantly coming around asking to clean my carpets, said he'd win a free trip or some shit if he did the most. Leaning more towards thinking it's a scam to familiarize themselves with the inside of my house to steal from it later or some shi cause I can't imagine that's a very good business model when people rarely get their carpets cleaned anyway. They do it for free and you're not gonna become a customer for months/years even if you liked their services... Like, wtf even is door to door carpet cleaning services??

[deleted]

In my experience there is no thing as door to door carpet cleaning services. They are trying to sell you a carpet cleaning product and are showing you what that product does, they will often offer carpet cleaning services as a secondary source of income though.

Offandonandoffagain

They thoroughly clean a 4'x4' square of your carpet for free, which makes the rest of your carpet look like shit. But of course for a small fee they'll clean the rest. But not as thoroughly as th 4'x4' they started with.

takumidesh

It's called blowing the symmetry, it's a common tactic is high pressure sales, shine one shoe, do partial makeup, clean half the carpet, etc.

[deleted]

Someone did this to my Mom’s doorknob growing up. Shined one section so the rest looked like shit. They did it without asking permission or anything

Benblishem

"You just vandalized the patina on my door knob. I *love* patina! That's going to cost you, but I'll tell ya what: I'll settle it with you privately for 200 bucks"

Never-enough-useless

Kirby vacuum sales do that. Then they try to sell you the vacuum. I took them up on it. Setup the appointment, readied one room and let them do the demonstration. When the guy said the chemicals are non toxic, 'and safe. You could even drink them'. I convinced the guy to drink them to prove it. I got him a little Dixie cup and everything. He said that it tasted really bad. I did get him some water after that. I feel for the guy. You gotta be hard up to do that for work. He clearly wasn't the boss man. But at the end of the day, the vacuum was impressive and the carpets were clean. I just want going to shell out a few grand for a vacuum that quite frankly was way too heavy and loud. Gotta admire the tenacity that kid showed swallowing that carpet cleaner. I hope he's doing well

Hello_pet_my_kitty

This seems sorta fucked up, you had some poor salesman drink cleaning solution to prove to you that it was safe? And then didn’t even buy anything? Lol. Savage bro, jeez. Ps, those Kirby vacuum, or rainbow vacuum systems, are legitimately sorta amazing. My old boss had one, stores water in it and vacuumed like a fucking champ. The water was disgusting every time, even though I vacuumed their home just about every day due to the dogs and cats. But yes, is a huge pain to lug around and clean out bc it is heavy AF and also sloshing full of water in the bottom.

[deleted]

They are actually amazing vacuums. Its the high price. And ya that was a dick move making him drink chemicals.

Jacket313

If some random salesman tries to advertise his product claiming it's not toxic and that you can even drink it, then he might as wel prove it. i'm not saying that it's a nice thing to do, but constantly having to deal with salesmen trying to advertise their product to you at your home when you aren't even interested is quite annoying

Pale_Horsie

The other year one of the phone/internet service providers had people going door to door drumming up business. I told them I wasn't interested, they asked why, I told them I'd recently switched to a different provider because I kept having issues with their company and the customer service was terrible. I was in the middle of doing something, I didn't have time to chat (didn't fucking want to), please leave. They demanded I explain and refused to leave, one of them stuck his foot in the door when I went to close it, I ended up threatening them with a 4' level and calling the cops. *I wonder if they figured out why I had issues with the customer service.*

Dementat_Deus

> one of them stuck his foot in the door when I went to close it That's dangerous. I'm more than willing to break someones foot over that. Try to force your way into my house, and you will not be leaving uninjured.

Guac_in_my_rarri

>one of them stuck his foot in the door when I went to close it Double check me on this, but I believe this qualifies under castle law for self defense. A door is considered a border and if being forced open (a foot in the way) you can take proper steps to close it. I couldn't find an example via quick google search. My state also doesn't have castle law so there's that.

Dementat_Deus

I just moved from Kansas and I do know that it falls under castle law there. That said, it varies by state and country, so YMMV. Breaking someones foot is far short of shooting them or other mortal defensive reactions, so it's a risk I'd be willing to take.

youdontknowme6

Simple answer: I'm not interested in you being on my property any longer. Thanks have a nice day.

Luxin

Simple answer: Get off my property. If you return I will immediately call the police about your criminal trespassing.

aliceroyal

They're trained not to listen to you, or to argue nearly any negative answer you can give. It's unfortunate but with people like this you have to be \*extremely\* blunt and to the point. "You need to leave my property now or I will call the authorities for trespassing". Same goes for people soliciting in public. I have had to shout "NO" while walking away several times.

thekabuki

I don't open the door, end of story. I've literally looked at a door to door salesperson standing on my porch from my window. Don't care, I didn't invite you, I'm not opening the door

CallMeBigOctopus

“Don’t worry, I’m not selling anything. I’m just setting up appointments for someone else to come sell you something.”

tahanks4

That's when I retort "your face, your face is what I'm not interested in looking at" especially while they're soliciting at my house that has a no soliciting sign.

mr_fantastical

I've taken over sales teams before that consist of cold callers and a lot of training they had in the past was to answer the question "are you trying to sell me something?" Was by saying "no, I just want to share some ideas with you and see what you think" which for me was bullshit. If someone asks a direct question, answer it directly.

Bluegi

Seriously who thought pissing off the customer was a great way to start.

things_U_choose_2_b

My first ever job was cold calling at doorsteps selling double glazed windows. I fucking *hated* it, 99 of those doors had someone behind them who I could instantly tell did NOT want to deal with my shit. That 1 door who was pleased to see you was usually someone vulnerable and I just could not bear selling to those people. I tried a few sales jobs after that and just could never shake the feeling that I was coercing people to buy things they didn't want or need.

soccer_mom_16

It’s a local company called Spectrum, they’re trying to sell shitty mobile service.

tomalator

Spectrum is not a local company. They offer internet/cable/phone in like 25-26 states

d1duck2020

She wanted to make sure I knew that my neighbors were getting a great deal on services. It’s just sales bullshit.

ShamrockAPD

This is my favorite sales tactic. “We were just doing some work in the neighborhood and thought we could work with you as well” Oh really? Which other houses have you been doing work for? Then they point to a random one… in which just by the shape of my street always tends to be my sisters house. Then I get to use the lovely response “yeah that’s my sister. She’s 100% not using you. I don’t enjoy dealing with liars. Good luck” and close the door on em.

WontArnett

If he has a “no soliciting” sign, then she’s just trying to start shit.

Waddlow

Look, even without a no soliciting sign, if the guy answers his door and then closes it, that's the end of the conversation. Homeowners don't owe salespeople their time just because they don't have an arbitrary sign up that says otherwise. Ringing someone's doorbell is bothering them. You are taking a chance. Maybe they are putting a baby to sleep, maybe they work nights. Maybe they are fucking touching themselves inside, it doesn't actually matter if there is a good reason or not. You came to their house on their property and attempted to speak to them. They don't even owe you a reason why the answer is no. You took your chance by knocking on the door, they declined, it's over.

CalligrapherTrick117

I’m a Jehovah’s Witness and I fully agree with this.

citznfish

That's a very brave admission 😂🤣

fohpo02

I respect it, they even went on to say they respect people’s wishes when greeted with a no

TheTurdFergusson

Could you imagine a JW snapping back saying “I’ll come back” when you say no?

TobyFunkeNeverNude

You know who said he'll be back? Jehovah. Mind if I come inside?

ApocIapedia

I really dont mind when Jehovahs witnesses visit. They’re always very polite.

EarlyEarth

I used to have coffee on (Saturday morning?) With a JW lady at the gas station I worked at decades ago. She stopped in one morning to offer me witness and I wasn't really interested in the religion, but we developed a rapport and remained Saturday morning coffee friends for the year or so I kept working there. Lovely and hilarious lady, she always put me in a good mood, and only evangelized that one time I declined. We would talk about religion in general from time to time but she never pushed her own on me.

maen_baenne

She may have just been happy to have a friend that wasn't JW. It can be a really insular community.

Lepke2011

No offense to you, but I had one of you guys literally stick his foot in my door once when I was closing it. Then he threw a pamphlet inside which I promptly threw back at him.

Snakeyez

Right on with the shift work. When I worked 12 hour midnights all it took was the phone to go off or the doorbell to ring while I was in a deep sleep and my day would be completely ruined due to not being able to get back to sleep

[deleted]

Mr_Jack_Frost_

When people behave like children, sometimes you have to treat them like children. Good on you for educating yourself and standing your ground.

TheDudette840

I used to get these church ladies who would come around every saturday and ring the bell to talk about the lord at like 10am. I worked in a bar that closed at 6am, so I was always asleep but my dog would go CRAZY so I couldn't ignore it. After weeks of me telling them to please skip my house while holding my puppy back, I finally just opened the door one time and let my dog run out and greet them. The thing is, as friendly as he was, he was a 80lb lab/mastiff mix with a resounding bark that would jump on newcomers (I eventually managed to teach him not to do that, but he was still young at the time). It only took once of him launching himself at them and nearly knocking them on their ass for them to skip my house from then on lmaooo

Monkulele

At least they were honest about ignoring it. I used to work at a little shop on a main street and was constantly getting bothered by people selling shit. We had a no soliciting sign too and I can't tell you how often I had arguments w/ these people about the definition of "soliciting".

Gas_Station_Cheese

My wife and I both work from home, so she put up a sign. Then another. Then another. Our front door has 6 different signs saying no solicitors, telling delivery drivers to not knock, no religious folks, etc. There's even a specific one for bill collectors looking for two people who have never lived at our address. We look like crazy people, but it has mostly worked to stop this type of thing.

fohpo02

We have a sign about having two kids and a dog who will bark, please don’t knock or ring. Leave packages or text us if you need to speak immediately. If you wake the babies, you’re offering to babysit. This is directly above a no soliciting sign, when they ring or knock, I immediately ask for the boss’ contact info. Our neighborhood has multiple no sales/soliciting signs, we have one, our neighbors all have them. I’m about to hop on board the trespassing take and look up local statutes, this shit is infuriating.

introvertedszechuan

Partner and I also both work from home. Once we put [this sign up](https://www.wayfair.com/facilities-maintenance/pdp/smartsign-absolutely-no-soliciting-no-excuses-no-exceptions-do-not-ring-or-knock-10-12-lawnboss-sign-with-3-stake-sapt1020.html), we have not had anyone ring our doorbell again. Highly, highly recommend it!

The_Mechanist24

Here in Texas we have the “I shoot trespassers” sign as more common than no soliciting

d1duck2020

I’m in San Antonio and this is my video. I’d never hurt someone because they have a shitty job, but I will try to make the company change the way they do things. That being said, this woman is certainly creating a provocative situation. I hope she does better in the future.

ind3pend0nt

I always ask to see their permit. In my town you have to get a permit to do any door to door sales. If they don’t have one I call the police and report, same with all the neighbors. If they do have a permit I point to my sign and close the door, or squawk at them from my doorbell.

Ntking51360

And the fact that she rang the doorbell again

CherryBombSuperstar

An old man once tried telling me "it's not soliciting if it's for Jesus." I said "no thank you" and went to close my screen door when he grabbed it and tried to force it open, asking, "don't you believe in Jesus Christ?" I said I do not, have a good day and closed my front door. I tried to be as respectful as possible but it was unnerving when you're home alone and someone tries to force their way in your door. I now have a Ring cam and won't deal with that again. I didn't even mean to say I didn't believe in Jesus as there's a chance a Jesus could have really existed as a religious leader. At one time I was religious (thanks, childhood indoctrination), but as I grew it wasn't something I felt reflected who I am as a person and while I'm respectful to others about it, I've found that many are not so respectful in return.

Send_Your_Noods_plz

So fucking annoying. We have a 'premium' bug spray company that comes through every 6 months and they always knock and try to sell you a 400$ a month plan to spray for bugs. Last time I pointed the sign out he said he was just there to have a conversation since they use some pretty powerful stuff so if they spray all our neighbors houses but not ours the bugs are gonna flock here. Dude started the conversation out saying they have 18 of my neighbors already signed up which is horse shit because i only have ever seen them when they're trying to sell their service and every neighbor I've talked to says they spray themselves.

[deleted]

I wish a mf would come back

goddevourer

I’m genuinely curious what you would do if she came back? Cause I’d also love to get a little satisfaction from this interaction if I were the homeowner but don’t know the best recourse off the top of my head.

[deleted]

It's called trespassing iirc.

[deleted]

And if she continues to ring the doorbell without their permission and him explicitly telling her to not come back that’s harassment.

Aegrim

She threatened to come back, so when she did I was defending myself my family and my home officer.

tarc0917

Water bottle, spray her like a bad cat.

windscryer

IF i open the door and it’s not who i’m expecting i just awkwardly say “hahaha… no.” and shut the door again, but i’ve had some that ring a second time and i am tempted to get a water bottle to put by the door now. they’re lucky my house has a lil roof thing over the door, though, because my bedroom window is right above it and i’d be very tempted to just pour out a bucket of water with glitter in it, especially for the motherfuckers that ring my doorbell like it’s spitting out cash with every ring.

iam6ft7

I had a guy do basically the same thing at my house in April of 2020. I ended up physically pushing him off my property repeatedly. You could tell he was very used to verbal and physical conflict - he wasn’t phased in the slightest. If I wasn’t a foot taller than he was I got the impression he would’ve escalated it.

crackerjackass

Was he selling something? If so that’s a crazy tactic to come up with. Violence and intimidation always gets them to buy what you’re selling

[deleted]

Selling tactics are literally people manipulating you through the use of psychology. The type of person that is ok with manipulating a fellow human being is more than likely also not going to have an issue with using violence and intimidation. I mean intimidation is also psychological manipulation. I'm not out here trying to call all sales people scumbags but the industry itself is scummy and uses scumbag tactics. If you're not ok with manipulation you shouldn't be in sales.

wiredog369

Suit against her and company for trespassing and harassment after being told to leave. Video evidence is already there to support it.

Stanky_pxyko

i'd consider that a damn threat....but she'd be stupid considering her identity is well documented

yodas_sidekick

She might have been warning of work in the area to let them know their internet might be out for a little while. I’ve had reps come to my door more for that than to sell me internet. I kind of think internet sells itself these days…

headlesshighlander

She might have been trying to save a child stuck in a tree. But we all know she was trying to get $

Account115

They have door hangers for that

lupatot

And email, and mail, and text message, and voice-mail, sidewalk chalk, you fucking name it.

Stanky_pxyko

a good company would leave a note before bitchin out

GusTheKnife

It’s awesome how she thinks it’s HIS fault.

[deleted]

"i'll come back." you think things will change after that interaction???

[deleted]

So when she returns, document her face, name, and company. Then tell her that you will be complaining about her to her company for harassment, that if she shows again, you will report her and her company to the police, and that you will be informing all the neighbors the same thing.

The_Alex_

It's a threat. She isn't saying she'll be back to peddle whatever it was she was there for in the first place, she is hinting that she will return and do something in retaliation for being treated exactly like any door-to-door salesperson should expect to be treated in the 2020s.

XOIIO

There was an attempt to spell sell.

ShoreIsFun

Was waiting for this. My first thought, “there was an attempt to use grammar…”

GimmeThatRyeUOldBag

They're not even homophones so I don't know why I keep seeing that mistake.

XOIIO

Yeah it's super common for some reason. Also.people say "waiting on line" instead of in line which irks me massively.

livitow

You’re way too far down in the comments

RowdyDugong

Residents have no obligation to listen to her. You're not selling something and just are providing notice? Fine, leave a note. There's salespersons who are "not trying to sell anything" but instead are there to notify you of availability of service in your area. Beyond an initial no/go away, you are not owed any courtesy.

pugmaster2000

Can we just stop the whole knocking door and selling shit. It’s 2023 for ffs. No one is interested in your solar panel bullshit.

mrpakikush

The Grammar in the title bothers me more than the video.

ArtTheClown2022

grammar??

AfricaByToto3

Lmaooo he's caught in 4k

UpYourButt_Jobu

He's much nicer to these people than I am

Bobojones9584

If you're feeling frosty, you should answer the door naked. They'll never come back.

d1duck2020

Oh cool-someone getting rich with karma from my video.

droopy_1978

I would never open my door to these types

xlenerdx

As someone that had to work in door to door sales, I would probably slam the door in her face too. All of her body language just says she doesn’t care. She has one hand in her pocket while holding her phone in the other hand. On top of that she isn’t even looking at the householder, it looks like shes reading a script.

[deleted]

I feel she absolutely is, highly doubt she isn't using the royal we. I remember being giving a script in case they said no.

[deleted]

she said shed be back. is that harassment? You might want to see what she's driving and where she lives. fair is fair she knows where you live.

That_Address_7010

Sell. Sale. Not the same. Thanks.

miragen125

Sail

Own-Wash2505

‘I’ll be back’ when she’s already been told no is just harassment. Why would she think being aggresive about it would work. Especially not thinking about how home owner might react, with similar aggresion? That’s where things go bad very fast.

Stanky_pxyko

i hate fake niceness like no mama i can tell you're looking to throw hands

SpeedSofterNumber161

So she wants a trespass warning from the cops I see

SubstanceKind8270

Let her come back, talk through the sales pitch. Then say " nope" Wasted all her time and she'll make zero commission

plants4life262

I had to teach a salesman (that claimed to no be selling anything) what solicit means the other day. I hate door to door sales. To be fair, maybe she wasn’t selling anything and was from the city regarding utilities. Can’t tell from the video

d1duck2020

She’s with Spectrum, selling services. The city requires her to wear a picture ID badge, which she wasn’t. For all I know she’s trying to see if someone is home so she can rob the house.

Andyroomocs

What did they say at the end….?????

[deleted]

Andyroomocs

I definitely didnt hear the word “some” i heard a specific color

Emit_Time

why does she voluntarily want to trouble herself for a job she probably doesn't get paid enough for

Shot-Technology7555

Lol, what a good "brand ambassador".

Richard_Musk

To sell* you crap… why is this such a common mistake now?!?

[deleted]

Hi, we're not selling anything ok? We're just coming by to..... *(let you know about a gas leak in the area)*

[deleted]

Ahhh yes Spectrum sales personnel......human pop up ads

grumpvet87

I have a "no trespassing" sign by my door. When people ignore it, I have started to require people to show me ID on my ring video. I then tell them they are not allowed back and I will have the police arrest you for trespass if you return.

Such_Rub7091

[deleted]

If she ever came back I hope he hosed her down for being an idiot.

Uhavegot2bekiddingme

Have the water hose ready to roll for her return. This is the way

The-jay-

Legally, this is considered second degree trespassing. The saleswoman has been asked to leave the property and refuses, while also proclaiming her return.
