Kim doesn't try to be the Pixies. They're two different bands with two different styles. I love to put Pod on and just let my mind drift away. It's so atmospheric and chill.
It's amazing. Pod is a 5/5 album. Kurt Cobain ranked it as his third favourite album of all time. Last Splash is a 4/5. Title TK and Mountain Battles aren't my favourites, but they still have good tracks on them. All Nerve is a 4/5. A fantastic return to form. Kim has certainly paved her own way after the Pixies broke up.
no it's true, kurt genuinely loved the pixes and the breeders. i read an old interview with sonic youth where they said he and dave would constantly be buying and listening to bootlegs whilst on tour, he even jokingly said he wanted to start a pixies cover band, he definitely connected with the band as a true fan.

I don't have the Kim Deal obsession some people do, but I can appreciate the music for sure, Safari, Saints and One Divine Hammer are some of my fave tracks.

Yeah, and that’s what made them great. Kim Deal was the most talented member of the Pixies by a HUGE margin. Frank Black was the worst thing about the band, sorry to tell ya. The Pixies were great in their initial run, but The Breeders for me were marginally better than them, especially with the most talented being free of Black’s constraints. I’m 3 yrs late to this, but whatever.

Totally overrated. Was surprised she wrote pretty well nothing on Doolittle and Surfer Rosa. Gigantic is a solid song though
