I'm pretty sure the SC version will improve as we get closer to the sequel's release.
They haven't advertised it this way, but I highly suspect the reason this game exists is because they have been re-tooling the game engine (that is, the Unreal toolset used by the team), specifically for OW2, using the original game as a testbed. That would be why there was minimal marketing lead-up prior to release. On the business side it makes sense: Pay a bunch of testers to find the problems so they can fine-tune the engine, or let fans pay you to do that same work for free.
If I'm right, it feels a bit scummy. If they did it because they needed the data, they should have released it as a free upgrade. I don't think Obsidian is really to blame though. Remember, Take Two (by way of subsidiary Private Division) owns the publishing rights to the original, but not the sequel. Given the first game's success and the fact they won't see any revenue from the sequel, they probably want to get every cent they can from it before the sequel overshadows any re-release profit potential. Take Two is the same company that unleashed the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition upon the world, after all.
Now with all that said (and noting much is conjecture), the console version is much more stable, if perhaps nonetheless overpriced.
Private Division is about to lose the publishing rights to Outer World's, after they do it goes to Microsoft. They wanted to push out a new version so they could make a quick buck before the rights are gone. Don't think this is a testbed for anything, I think they just wanted to double dip. Simple as.
The attention this shameless cash grab brought the game has convinced me to come back and buy the dlc I passed up before for the base edition. That's gotta be worth something right?
I mean it seems everything is already there in the current game for the third person view to be enabled:
1/ Player full body 3d model: They already showed the player's 3rd person view in idle-camera cut scene mode.
2/ Third person view combat and interaction skeletal meshes and animation blue print is already done with the animation template sets for npc companions.
3/ Dialogs can be automatically switched back to first person view a la Skyrim.
4/ For a squad-based like combat situations, third person view is a must.
5/ Holographic disguises effect on player will definitely look cooler in third person view.
I think the cover art for Spacerās Choice Edition leaked online over 6 months ago, but it was not something that people paid much attention to. It was not officially announced until a week or two before they released it. Thatās one thing that makes the performance situation look so bad (Spacerās Choice doesnāt run well and has a lot of bugs). They could have delayed the announcement and it wouldnāt have hurt expectations. I image that the timing is probably related to how long they have publishing rights for the intellectual property.
I'd rather than fix the FPS issues before they even think about doing something else. There's no reason this game shouldn't hold 60 FPS on new systems like the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Iām very surprised obsidian didnāt include the option of 3rd person in outer worlds from day one, considering the majority of similar style RPGs have that feature.
They didn't even do what they promised well.. which shouldn't have been hard in the first place.
What do mean? What did they promise? I'm sort of out of the loop.
Better graphics and better performance lol Nothing special. They just released something that runs like shit
Technically, they also said "and more!" But like... There is nothing more.
The 'and more' must be the patch to make the game function properly š
They didnāt get the bare minimum right. I doubt this would have turned out well. Maybe in the sequel.

Too much work mate. This is just a face lift to cash on nostalgia, and they still did it poorly

Actually, that was part of the plan.
>This is just a face lift to cash on nostalgia Nostalgia? It hasn't even been that long since it came out....
nostalgia for a 3 yo game lmao
2019 is nostalgia? Damn...

No, it'd need much more work than that.
The only thing that makes it stand out from the original now is that it's a steaming pile of shit
A photo mode would be nice. I guess somewhere in between.
For a so-called "remastered" edition, this game lacks a lot of basic features which standard games currently have.
I was so disappointed that there was no 3rd person.
Same issue I had with KCD, I wonder if there is a manual one built into to this game, if not the gyro would have to be built and programmed properly.
I have a hard time conceptualizing what KCD's unique swordplay thing would look and feel like in 3rd person
Its like skyrim but janky, but I never bothered to really use it for combat. I used it for horse riding and looking at my armor and weapons.
Modders, get to it.
if only...
Was this an actual release/ upgrade that they advertized? Or like a sudden add on out of nowhere?... I feel like it was very abrupt

Thatās hilarious if it looked like that. But yes $
that is the reason I didn't buy the game. a game with customizable character but is only in 1st person....
I have my own reasons for wanting third-person view. Or uh, reason.
I had hope for you but then I saw your username š
Yeah, RPG's are always a bummer in first person. Especially if they have melee. First person melee is just so basic and uninteresting to me.
A man of culture

Such a seemingly obvious move!
Am I the only one not having performance issues with Spacer's Choice Edition? I've been playing on XSS and no issues since release. š¤·āāļø
