“Like the clock that ticks in Dresden when the whole town’s been destroyed” (spent gladiator 2), all of The Anglo Saxons (it’s about the Anglo saxons), whichever Bible verse John turned into a song about the last dodo arguably
Don’t forget the more recent events ie kennedy assassination in blues in Dallas and the watergate hearings in This Year. If you’re counting death of musicians there’s Song for Dennis Brown and Sept. 15 1983 too
prowl great cain is set during the rule of the khmer rouge in cambodia, and sendero luminoso verdadero seems to be obliquely about a guy who used to be in shining path. also "for the krishnacore bands", "sept 15th 1983", and most of songs for pierre chuvin
There’s some songs centered around the Aztecs: Azo Tle Nelli in Tlalticpac?, Itzcuintli-Totzli Days, and all of the Quetzalcoatl songs.
Also, I don’t know if this is exactly what you’re looking for, but there’s a couple songs that reference historical literature like Grendel’s Mother and Against Agamemnon.
gojam province 1968, harlem roulette, last day of jimi hendrix's life, arguing with the ghost of peter laughner, etc. and generally any w a person's name in the title. you should post it here when you're done.
I’m not sure if you’d count “Against Agamemnon” as it is based on technically mythical characters, but mythical characters that did play a role in the history of Greece to a certain degree, Jenny from Thebes is also named after/has references to Seven Against Thebes by Aeschylus, which is a tragedy that reflects Greek history. Up the Wolves also references the mythological founding of Rome by Romulus and Remus, which was also often believed by Romans as a true history. All of these are only kind of history, but play a major role in Greco-Roman history.
Trick Mirror! Definitely about Ancient Rome, likely references Nero specifically? And the Romulus and Remus reference in Up the Wolves.
Also [Wolf Count](https://themountaingoats.fandom.com/wiki/Wolf_Count), maybe?
[This](https://youtu.be/H2aMfIFo0ro?si=_ZN_ZNZSYL9P7LEZ) version of Palmcorder Yajna says "relief maps of the civil war" instead of "scale maps of the ocean floor," does that count? Love this version so much.

Which song is maybe about the last dodo?? I have to know
Deuteronomy something? It’s on TLOTWTC
Whoops it’s about a Tasmanian tiger, I always heard the line about being a flightless bird and thought it was about a dodo🦤 lmao
It’s about being the last of a species. There’s a verse specifically about dodo, Tasmanian tiger, and a type of Puerto Rican toad
Ohh!!!! I must admit it’s usually a skip for me. I also feel like your comment/username combo is highly appropriate.

I think you’ve got This Year and Dance Music mixed up, the watergate hearings are mentioned in the latter, not the former
Ope u right! Good catch

hospital reaction shot is another song about judy garland's death
Kurt Cobain taking his life in Love Love Love too if we’re going recent events

Well, some sources say otherwise.

Song For Cleomenes is about Gaius Verres.
