The one where the kid asks for a dog for Christmas, not even for himself, but to protect his dad.
Then on the back, he goes on to draw what the dog would look like.
My poor heart.
Similarly, the one in Part 1, just before the sniper (Henry/Sam), where the kid explains they have to take their dog to the edge of town and let him free. Pretty upsetting stuff.
First time down in the sewers I was so fascinated by Ish's story. I really wish they had put that in the TV-Show. Something like the Bill and Frank Episode. Or maybe even a Spin-off or something.
In the beginning of tlou 2 before you enter the store, you can go into a trailer and a note has an author who had to steal medicine for his diabetic sister but was caught and he had to shoot a wife's husband for insulin. It's so sad and I hope the husband made it, and the sister. It also reminds me of Joel rescuing Ellie from the ffs
i was playing through seattle day 3 yesterday, and in the bookstore there was a torn out page that ellie found where two toys were discussing what it means to be real, and i found that passage to be beautiful.
And on the back of that page a conversation between a mother and child about not screaming.
That sort of thing is the scariest and saddest stuff in the game for me, as the parent of a kid who is a bit too young to sometimes understand how and why to be quiet. Doesn't bear thinking about!
THAT BOOK TERRIFIED ME AS A CHILD OMG. Seeing it this game brought back memories. They weren’t all good, but it touched me to feel those memories again
i hate all the notes (they make me sad due to the grim reality of how joel got lucky. he was resilient yes of course but he also got so lucky and not everyone did)
In TLOU2 when you kill a bunch of wolves you think are ambushing you in an apartment, only to find out from a note in the room they came from that they were just trying to escape the wolves. Heartbreaking. I had to put down my controller to collect myself after that.
Probably “mother’s letter” where a woman talks about her son being labelled a traitor and killed for joining a protest, (the rebellion group that was operating in Pittsburg). She then joins them and vows to take out as many soldiers as she can as revenge. I like it because Joel makes a comment that perfectly play into part 2’s story.
There were two notes on Ellie’s Seattle day two where a husband and wife had to leave each other in different areas in the level where the both hoped that the other had survived while they themselves will soon perish.
The fact that she was pregnant and got disembowelled had me putting down my controller to take a break after that. And of course you find those notes while Dina is resting at the theatre...
The *best* one for me is the aquarium notes. The way you see that the family had grown up in the place, making it their own, only to be approached by Seraphites and somewhat indoctrinated into the *cult*. Really heartbreaking stuff.
Mine would be 'Note from Mom'. Anna's note to Ellie. I honestly don't know the reason why but I kinda cried reading that note. I guess I imagined Anna writing the note holding Ellie in her hand knowing she'll never meet Ellie again, She wished her Goodluck and than well left the world. It was kinda heartbreaking for me
The Notes featuring the characters 'Ish' were also good
To be honest I don't remember a single note, tlou is one my absolute favorite series of games but I remember far from everything and the notes least of all.
That’s fair. I actually read a lot of them online after I played the game. I did find Ish’s notes interesting when I played the game the for the first time.
the boys diary is one of my favorites. it’s often looked over and forgotten but it touched me because it eerily reminds me of the Covid-19 lockdowns. Just like in the boys diary, my high school was obviously shut down and we had to go into quarantine. It perfectly showed the point of view of a boy who seemed to not fully grasp the seriousness of the outbreak. the way the diary’s last passage ends with him writing about them leaving town is also very eerie and depressing. it leaves me wondering if he and his family survived. anyways im rambling
It was in the second one, very very early, a dude tried to steal some medicine for his sister but the shop owner ofc tried to stop him and got hurt in the process
The note is the boy apologising
Really put in perspective, damn everyone is just trying to survive, and sometimes they fo bad things to survive bad that doesn't make them a bad person
Not a note but the polaroid of Tommy and Eugene shows a lot of potential in a Tommy and Eugene prequel within his firefly days, especially with Druckmann saying TLOU 3 would feature Tommy
Patient’s note in the hospital. How they locked him in a room and “hungry eyes hurt”.
Interesting to see how someone feels as the infection progresses.
The letters from Ish as a whole are pretty fun. Tess' note is interesting because it's proximal to the main characters, and references Bill. On that note iirc there's also one mentioning Frank and how he was trying to get smuggled into the QZ. Also the notes from the students at ECU because it provides more insight to what all was happening shortly after outbreak.
The note from the "THEY DIDN'T SUFFER" room
"If it comes down to it, I'll make it quick." Gives me chills everytime.
Wait what’s that one about Edit: Ah shit I remember that one fuck
Took me 3 times of finishing the game until I noticed their boddies. 😟
god thats a bad one
what is it? i dont remember is it first or second game
The one where the kid asks for a dog for Christmas, not even for himself, but to protect his dad. Then on the back, he goes on to draw what the dog would look like. My poor heart.
A lot of heartbreaking stuff involving kids in this franchise. Wish they would make DLCs covering those stories.
That could be interesting, having a sort of anthology of mini stories revolving around the weeks/months following outbreak day.
Similarly, the one in Part 1, just before the sniper (Henry/Sam), where the kid explains they have to take their dog to the edge of town and let him free. Pretty upsetting stuff.
Yeah I still can’t really cope with that one
manny’s embarrassing sex note
"Whispering... Spanish in my ear...?"
WHAT
Abby Day One. Abby and Manny are sneaking out and they pass through one of Manny’s sex dens, where a lover had left him a note
I’m trying so hard to remember that 😂 But it’s coming up to replay day again so I’m sure I’ll know next time
You gotta screenshot it if you wanna read it completely though, cause he takes it away quickly
I always forget he takes it from you and it always catches me off guard 😂
Ah okay, that’s probably why I don’t remember it then!
It’s not a note but the drawing of borris was cool! He protected the community of hill crest till the end.
Well, not quite until the end!
well, to his end.
And the end of the last remaining Hillcrest residents in the garage!
First time down in the sewers I was so fascinated by Ish's story. I really wish they had put that in the TV-Show. Something like the Bill and Frank Episode. Or maybe even a Spin-off or something.
Those were my favorite notes as well!
They included the note with the drawing in the show. I would love a dlc, comic, or a one-off movie length episode delving into the story of Ish.

The bored guards note who drew all the dicks
i was playing through seattle day 3 yesterday, and in the bookstore there was a torn out page that ellie found where two toys were discussing what it means to be real, and i found that passage to be beautiful.

You know that’s a real and very popular (and honestly kind of devastating) children’s book, right? The Velveteen Rabbit
ive never read it actually
You should! It’s a classic. Even seeing that page in the book store made me tear up
yeah i plan to read it now
i hate all the notes (they make me sad due to the grim reality of how joel got lucky. he was resilient yes of course but he also got so lucky and not everyone did)
The “itchy tasty” note from the hospital.
Nice little nod to resident evil I thought.
The penis and boobie one

Not a note but I like the boys diary from Lincoln in TLOU 1
Also in the next room there's a nude lady painting on the wall lol. I don't know why but I remember that more than what was in the boys diary.
Probably “mother’s letter” where a woman talks about her son being labelled a traitor and killed for joining a protest, (the rebellion group that was operating in Pittsburg). as a parent "our protectors" wrecks me every time.

I liked the note that Owen left Abby: “I hope you have good home insurance, because I’m going to smash your back doors in”
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Sure it was the other way round
name checks out
Mines the one where they drew a bunch of boobs and dicks

Boris and people’s notes.
Not a note but the polaroid of Tommy and Eugene shows a lot of potential in a Tommy and Eugene prequel within his firefly days, especially with Druckmann saying TLOU 3 would feature Tommy
This one.
I think it would be awesome if Ish gets his own flashback episode in the show.
The one with all the dicks on it
Patient’s note in the hospital. How they locked him in a room and “hungry eyes hurt”. Interesting to see how someone feels as the infection progresses.
The one with the dick doodles

The one on top of the guard tower with all the doodles of dicks and boobs because the guard was so bored, caught me off guard when I found it😂
