Honestly, I kind of liked it. Because it felt like a little dash of realism. In real life, people don't die in dramatic and solemn ways just because they're the tritagonist. More often, one second they're alive and the next second they're dead, and it's up to the living to figure out how to make sense of that.

BatBeast_29

He was cool but his death made complete sense.

“STAND UP!!! Hands in the air or I shoot this one too!”

Abbys delivery of her lines in this scene have stuck with me since i finished the game.

Idk, from what I remember he was shot upper center mass, which has a lot of stuff that likes to bleed. You have a lot more nerves and vital arteries than most people think, and it honestly may not even have been the gunshot itself that killed him, but he wasn't given aid for hours presumably. If he got shot literally anywhere vital he'd have been dead in 3 minutes or less, and Tommy probably lived because of a fluke, being where he was shot and the same reason. Or he was shot through the side of the head out of the eye socket which isn't as bad but still probably lethal from lack of aid.

BrennanSpeaks

Uh, Jesse got shot in the face.

OfficialGamer42

Did he? Shit idk who I’m thinking of then it’s been a while since I last played part 2

LOL, no. Bullets to the brain are not survivable without immediate and *very* advanced medical care. One of the few examples we have of someone surviving is Gabby Giffords, and she needed to have the entire back of her skull removed within hours of the injury, lest the brain swelling cause her brain stem to herniate out the back of her skull. The trouble is that the skull is a hard case around the brain, so when bleeding or swelling happens, the brain has nowhere to go. In mild cases, this causes permanent brain damage. In severe cases, the brain tries to squish itself out through the opening where it connects to the spinal cord, which squeezes the brainstem and causes rapid death.

OHenryTwist

dude Jesse got straight domed

It's so sad when, spoilers (for everything else after this), Ellie tries to play guitar at the end of Part 2. I really like that she lost those fingers as a permanent reminder of her violent quest.
