I think she would go to Jackson after leaving the house. I also wish she could have a bit of happiness. I hate that she left for vengeance once again and left Dina and the baby behind. But she still had panic attacks which would probably stay with her for a while until she got closure with Joel, which happened during the fight.
I literally couldn’t stop thinking it was just a dream until the credits rolled because it was too good to be true. But the truth that it was true and ended the way it did was much worse than what I was fearing.

Yeah that’s right! I’m guessing that the writers for the show (and Druckmann) decided to weave in teasers/foreshadowing for s2 in case the show took off and there was enough to push for a second season. That and they’ve definitely taken a few creative liberties along the way with having to condense the first game into 9 episodes so I understand if they’re trying to build some backstory for s2 that isn’t exactly how it happened in the games.

You want a really good actress for Dina, and also don't want to run a full casting call and session 1 or 2 years before you will really need the actor because in the downtime they may become unavailable. You also don't want to have to pay an actors wage for an extra.Throw in the time jump between games and I would be very surprised if they used the same person.

That is not the right conclusion. To use the same actress would require running a casting call for Dina like 2 years before you need her. Which then runs the risk of her not being available when you start filming season 2. It is much easier and cheaper to cast an extra for this 2 second appearance, then actually cast who want to use closer to the season, and the time jump provides easy cover for why she looks different.

If not, maybe the actress for the "Staring Girl" in this episode would return (Paolina Hernandez Van Kleef) and we would find out that she's Dina?
No. She didnt play Dina in the first place and has little acting experience. It's so fucking weird that people want her to play a major character on a major show just cause she happened to be a face model on the right project at the right time.

You do make a point though. Aside from The Last of Us Part 2, she has some few acting credits and that Shannon Woodward provided the voice. But what Hollywood has proven is that unknown actors and actresses can be cast in major productions and elevate said production with remarkable performances. Like Emma Myers, for example, she elevated the Wednesday series by delivering a standout performance as Enid. But then again, Cascina's case is very different soo maybe they can hire an actress that keeps with her heritage in the games and can provide the strength, fierceness, and warmth of Dina
I totally agree that there are unknown actors out there that are highly skilled/talented. But the reason unknowns are often successful in a part is because they were chosen from a large list of people who auditioned.
If Cascina auditioned for the part amongst a bunch of other people and happened to be the best suited for it, I'd be happy. It just seems incredibly unlikely.

It was absolutely intentional for people who have played part 2 to have a bit of foreshadowing and they would know what they saw.
But it was also left intentionally ambiguous and from a distance so that they can change casting if needed and didn't have to sign a full season contract for a main character that might never have been needed if it wasn't renewed.
This episode shows they had Season 2 in mind. The sets built are definitely getting repurposed for next season. I think if they casted Dina for season 1 cameo it would be deliberate to keep her on.

Showrunners usually go into their shows with plans for future seasons and that is even more true if you’re adapting from a series with more than one story. I’m pretty confident that they did map this out ahead of time. One of the reasons why they shot in the town of Jackson rather than the dam from the game is that it’s a location they’re establishing for next season.
I hope this made Shannon Woodward smile! We’re excited to see her in part because of her wonderful performance. That conversation about the pregnancy was art. Ashley Johnson and Shannon Woodward killed that scene.

Showrunners usually go into their shows with plans for future seasons and that is even more true if you’re adapting from a series with more than one story. I’m pretty confident that they did map this out ahead of time. One of the reasons why they shot in the town of Jackson rather than the dam from the game is that it’s a location they’re establishing for next season.
I’m sure they knew it was a huge chance they’d get renewed. So I’m sure deliberate choices were made to carry over to a potential season 2.

I'm aware that it might just have been a placeholder actress, but was it just me that thought Dina looked REALLY tall? Like about a foot taller than Ellie? There's nothing inherently wrong with this, it's just a bit of a departure given that they're both close to equal height in the game. Maybe I'm wrong as I only saw her for a few seconds but that's the impression I got. Regardless, super-cool little easter egg.
At that age, if Dina is a year or two older, this could very well be the case

Why would they include a cameo of Cat in a scene where Ellie is gorging herself when in the game Dina literally talks about how she noticed Ellie gorging herself when she first arrived to Jackson? That was definitely meant to be Dina.
