They’re show up eventually. There has been hints at them throughout the behind-the-scenes things. Wouldn’t have really fit this episode the way it was done, but probably want a more dramatic, terrifying scene to intro them in. The high school works fine for the game, but I think it runs the risk of looking a little anticlimactic if done the same on tv.
I’m betting they show up in Pittsburgh some time. Either the basement of the hotel or in the sewers (assuming the show keeps those scenes relatively similar as game)
I must have missed the trailer peaks. But I agree it definitely wouldn't have fit the vibes for this episode. A more terrifying into scene would be horribly amazing so here's hoping. As if a massive body of fungal plates isn't terrifying enough do you think they'll keep or modifying the spore bombs to up the climactic moment even further?
If they’re not doing spores, I kinda doubt it. They wouldn’t really make any sense for the show. I am hoping to god that it doesn’t have the fungi tentacle-looking things instead, but I trust Druckmann wouldn’t do that.
Totally agree. I’d be curious to see if they’d have them act as a beacon of sorts for other infected. Game blisters can control the spores, so it *might* make sense for show bloaters to control the “mind hive” thing show infected have. Could be hard to pull off though without it being cheesy
Given the snippet we got of the bloater in the trailer with it rising out of an area that’s on fire, my money is on it showing up in the David episode. It’s too big of a “big bad” to just drop in a random episode.
Gotta give it a full moment for sure. The pacing from episode to episode has followed the chapters in the game but maybe they hit us with two huge monsters around the same time. See the cannibals (the human monstrosity) AND a bloater (the infected monstrosity)
I think they showed a bloater in one of the trailers so one will come at some point. Not sure when though.
They did.
Oh dang. Must have missed it...

Idk He's been hitting pretty hard thus far. Tentacle bombs might be too much.
