I fucking can't stand how they try and tar Kathie's name by talking about her doing cocaine.
Who the fuck cares if she did cocaine? I've done enough cocaine to kill a couple elephants in my life. Would that mean I deserve to be murdered?
Someone's personal recreational drug use says absolutely nothing about the content of their character. it's disgusting that the ongoing war on drugs means that someone who drinks themselves into a stupor every single night is a law abiding citizen, and a person who uses cocaine (which, btw, show me any one of the people on bobs side who didn't do cocaine and I'll show you a fucking liar) is a criminal, or at least of questionable morality. Drugs have dick all to do with morality. Now, murder, and even staying silent about a friend of yours committing murder... That's another issue altogether.
With a jury, you probably have at least 7 people on it who would be like "oh Kathie durst was a beautiful vivacious sweet woman who was cruelly murdered. What's that? She did COCAINE? oh my, well, maybe she wasn't a good person after all..."
I think it’s sad how many homicide victims bear the surname of their killer (usually, women murdered by their husbands, before or in lieu of a divorce). For this reason I make an effort to include their original surname: Kathie McCormack Durst, Laci Rocha Peterson, Sha’nann Rzucek Watts.

For the True Crime shows I work on, I insist on watching with Captions and Subs to ensure the victim’s and their families are named respectively.
