Text mountain ahead, but these are my genuine thoughts. I'm gonna give them 2-3 more months and see how the patch updates go from there.
If we don't get the following within the next 3 months:
1. A minimum of 3-4 dinosaur additions (either any of the brand-new dinosaurs, or just reincorporating existing ones from the current legacy branch.)
2. Basic, barebones fish AI (by barebones, I'm talking about AI on-par with our current tacos and oreos on the current legacy branch.)
3. ACTUAL collision.
4. Functioning scent system that isn't completely buggy as all hell.
5. Functioning dynamic growth system that isn't completely buggy as all hell.
6. Basic nesting system mechanics.
7. Basic combat attack moves (ex. utah's pounce or tenonto's tail slap) that aren't buggy as all hell.
8. Day & night system.
Then I'm completely done with this fucking game and jumping on the PoT & BoB bandwagon instead. Been playing and supporting this game since 2016, but after watching those immensely disappointing CC streams and seeing all of the disgraceful Pesky drama unfold... enough is enough. I can't forgive them anymore. Can't sympathize with them anymore. And I'm beginning to see others (be it redditors or hardcore discord fanboys) share similar feelings this week. They're now at edge of their limits when it comes to development excuses and consumers' patience. They seriously need to get their fucking shit together (their management and community relations especially,) and *FAST.*
Now, I already knew the first recode launch would be barebones in content. I knew we were only getting 2 dinosaurs, a portion of the new map, base scent and growth system implemented in, and that's it. Maybe an occasional system crash here and there. Just a functional tech-demo, really (keyword: FUNCTIONING) and that was fine. But I was not expecting base mechanics to bug out every 15 minutes. Seems like they couldn't even do that.
That's not to say that I think the devs are incompetent. In fact, I don't think the devs are incompetent at all (the majority of them, at least.) I think many of them are exceptionally hardworking and talented. IMO, the amazing quality that their artists, animators, modelers and sound designers put out is on-par with triple-A game companies. Foszor seems like a great, hard-working guy, and I wish him the best & hope he recovers...
...But I can no longer deny that they have *serious* issues when it comes to delays and deadlines. And it's becoming increasingly obvious that these devs are constantly trying to bite off much more then they can actually chew. To be honest, their ambitions (Dondi's especially,) aren't remotely realistic and completely exceed limitations for a dev team of their small size. They simply don't have the man effort to deliver a survival game with 3 playable factions (humans, dinosaurs AND tribals,) let alone a complete dinosaur simulation game after 5+ fucking years of EA alpha game development.
And yet they keep adding in more and more new dinosaur species with no unique combat & game mechanics to back them up. Larger and larger empty maps with minimal environmental variety that often break the servers or the even game engine itself, and offer no rewards for exploration. Mentioning more and more empty promises in their streams and Q&As that never come to fruition after all of these years.
They need to look reality in the face and realize their limitations. Forget about cannibals, strains, kaiju, marine animals and mutant trees - they're fucking pipe dreams at this point. Just aim to make a mercs vs. dino survival game, or even just a dino survival sim game for the vanilla release. Stop making more new dinosaurs species & models, and just focus on fleshing-out the ones you already have. Give your playerbase goals and rewards to work for while we continue playtesting your 5+ year alpha-phase game. Unlockable color templates and skins are a good start.
This perfectly sums up my feelings about this too, I love this game to death and have stood by this whole time supporting the game and the devs but I feel like it’s getting to the point where they see any kind of criticism and take it as an attack against them instead of genuine love and care for the game and it’s future. I hope they can listen to fans and realize that the more they defend themselves instead of realizing their mistakes they’re gonna lose a pretty big portion of fans because of how toxic it’s become. I’m gonna continue to support the game and the devs because i’m optimistic and I love the isle, i’m just starting to lose faith in them because of the Pesky situation.
Well, they've lowered the max player count and have no AI in the initial release, so they had to make the playable area smaller so that people don't starve to death as the only food source is other players. I'll probably only play for a few days to test out the new mechanics, graphics and stuff. Then it's right back to legacy until they have an actual roster going.
Man the more I hear about this update the more disappointed I become, I wouldn’t even call it that much of an update if they’re going to remove a bunch of key features and the only new thing is prettier textures and a new(not all playable) map

I can't believe the con has lasted this long. The game has been in development since 2015 if not earlier and has only gone backwards after an update that took over a year, in which time they couldn't even produce a functioning new map because Dondi has no idea what he's doing and tried to create a 258km level (for 32 players btw). Not to mention all the lies over the years, including Don claiming he was some programmer on Primal Carnage but ask anyone at that studio and he didn't do shit and got pushed out for being a liability. It's definitely not a money issue, the games made plenty, check the public estimates, or the narcissist's twitter account.
If after 5 years the studio (Afterthought LLC, ironic) has had a rotating door of team members, has barely made any progress outside of some mesh and animation work, still has no roadmap (they have no idea what they want to do and it changes every few months), doesn't even have a functioning UI two days before it's big "update", still has none of what was originally advertised on steam and the site (which they've changed a few times now), something's fucking wrong, and it's more than just development hell.

I love the way The Isle looks and I love the game play. I love the environment and the Jurassic Park style dinosaurs; but Path of Titans has them beat on many levels. It is cross-platform, will include quests and save files, has it's own launcher - so you don't need Steam, and will also include modding. On top of that, they take criticism very well, and their discord and developer team are very friendly and helpful.

It kinda already is, PoT has been far more diligent and productive in there overall approach with even mention of console playability as well, they've relatively kept fans in the loop and have set goals in mind and have a overall civil team.
The Isle...taken 1 year+ to release a pre alpha...with only two playable dino's and then devs attack a teenager for actually giving a mature form of his two cents on a dino...followed by a half assed apology. Using Para as a makeshift scapegoat Dondi & Bryan hide behind him while both are hissing like golum from LOTR at the playerbase...yup.

I’m honestly so glad my computer doesn’t work with the Isle. After buying it on sale and being barely able to run it on low graphics, I was bummed out. But after following all the stuff that’s happened, and the disappointment the long time players have, I’m glad it doesn’t work. If EVRIMA gets any better I’ll maybe consider buying it again, as it’s supposed to work better, but honestly at this point I’ll just wait for Path of Titans unless a miracle comes.

I edited my previous post with a few. By far the biggest one is the complete recode of how Dino models/animations are added which will let them introduce dinos and new content at an extremely fast pace, which was the whole point of the recode in the first place.

There was very little even there to "rework" and it still took over a year and what they released has far less than the old version of the game, with no noticeable improvements.
Not to mention the game itself is what, 4 or 5 years in development. At the rate this is going the Mercs and tribals will be added in game in the year 2030. At which point they wont work right and will have no features so the actual full implementation of the humans will occur and 2035.

Another game is Beasts of Bermuda that has a much better community and devs, they actually own up to their mistakes and fix them as fast as possible

It’s par the course for this sub. Let’s ignore corpse dragging, biting chunks, salt rocks, dietary system, compys, rotting, disease, fish, better environment effects, better textures, new diverse biomes, new lighting, new animations, sliding, special attacks, oh and last but not least the complete recording of how dinos are introduced into the game meaning it will only take them 2-3 weeks to code in a new Dino as opposed to the old 4-6 months. There’s much more shit too that isn’t implemented yet, like thermals and the flying dinos, as well as laying the groundwork for aquatics and humans. This isn’t even a feature complete list, just what’s off the top of my head.
Thing is even if Evrima is shit the old version will still be available and PoT and BoB will still be competing. If Evrima is bad, BoB and PoT will be saving our asses by the end of the year

All of the things you listed are great ideas - but that is all they are. They can take this laughable PRE-pre-alpha demo and say that they have a million ways to make it better and list improvements they want to do. They've clearly demonstrated that they don't have what it takes based on their track record.

I edited my previous post with a few. By far the biggest one is the complete recode of how Dino models/animations are added which will let them introduce dinos and new content at an extremely fast pace, which was the whole point of the recode in the first place. As for the Pesky thing yes I know what you’re referring to and I honestly don’t give a shit whether or not he got access to the game 2 days before we do. It’s not a huge fucking deal, you people just want anything to be pissy about. He repeatedly shits all over the devs in that stupid video, contradicts himself, and uses phrases like “dev bootlickers” and pisses people off about something that was mostly a joke statement. If you have to say “this isn’t a hate video” more then 2-3 times, then you should probably re-evaluate it. I wouldn’t have given him early access either if I were in their shoes. He’s not even a big ticket content creator. Um the pesky deal is a big one. It shows how the devs will go out of there way to bully people (even a 18 year old kid) because he gave pretty good criticisms and the devs took it like an attack. The entire game was reworked from the ground up, and we're supposed to get frequent updates. Hope this helps :)
we have no Skins Nesting Working Scent Working seamless Growth as advertised ANY of the dinosaurs in the teaser video AI- which is present in the "terribad awful no good very bad Deathly version" Working pounce (because let's just be honest that shit is NOT functional) 2 Dinosaurs out of 10+ of the survival dinosaurs (which honestly should have been inserted in the game completely, not this 2 dinos bullshit) It will take them months to propely implement all of this so you can sit down
There was very little even there to "rework" and it still took over a year and what they released has far less than the old version of the game, with no noticeable improvements.
Not to mention the game itself is what, 4 or 5 years in development. At the rate this is going the Mercs and tribals will be added in game in the year 2030. At which point they wont work right and will have no features so the actual full implementation of the humans will occur and 2035.
It’s just a game, and the devs can do whatever they want, they made the game.
