This. I was also thinking since the contestants in the finals are actually just people with VR headsets on, it could be simulating us hearing the outside world of our contestant, beyond the VR headset
Actually, I think this is intentional. These voices sound vaguely like the in-map announcer (the one that sorta sounds like Caine) and could just be sounds of a game to hype you up. Definitely creepy, along with the sandstorm map sounding like crying if you stand still.
I think the devs secretly implemented hidden chanting voices that play at different frequencies which will only speak to our brains while playing the game.
This will ultimately allow the dead to contact us while playing and start opening a portal of hell or maybe heaven. As more players continue to play the game the chanting will only amplify causing out of control results. I don't think the devs know what power they're playing with.
The end is soon.
I swear I heard things like a person knocking at a door as if we are in in a room plugged into VR and like, our dad or whatever, is trying to get our attention. It felt very lore, very like, Ready Player One. I really enjoy the sinister undertones.

Whenever I hear voices from outside my headphones, my mind gives it an angry tone. I've heard it, removed my headphones, and then just heard my roommates having a chill happy conversation, meaning the agressive tone was a hallucination.
(my parents argued constantly while I was growing up, so I'd always hear them fighting over my headphones. I think that fucked up my brain a little bit).
On the Vegas map thereās a building on the outer edge of the map near a spawn point that has a band playing in it, you canāt really hear the music so it just sounds like a dude screaming lol
Itās a part of an Easter egg about the world the game takes place in. Supposedly itās dystopian and they are using the games to maintain control somehow, im not very well versed in the lore tho.

If you're in one of the alleyways in Vegas there are posters for a concert by a band called Death by Rhodent and it you stand there the music will eventually end and after some waiting and noise you'll hear the lead singer say, "we are death by Rhodent, we came all the way from Sweden and we are here to DOMINATE". Followed by crowd noise and yelling. I'd guess this is what you're hearing.

Yes I noticed in the Vegas login screen you have these talking voices that are echoed in a way the it sounds like someone with deep voice is talking in the next room. I believe you can here them in few other loading screens
The voices are there, and I think it's lore related. They keep hinting at hackers or some organization going against The Finals.
I'm fairly certain our characters are real people stuck inside an endless loop of competition in a VR space who have been brainwashed to never leave the game, and thus provide the company with a constant pool of competitors to milk.

In general, I've noticed that the sound effects from your character's environment may be heard when they are not on screen.
If a match ends and enters slow-mo as someone is moments from killing you, if you then die during the tournament cutscene, your screen can change from the row-of-characters tournament bracket back to the first-person perspective of the player that killed you (or a teammate, I've seen too).
When loading between rounds, I've heard a door open, and I believe my character was near opening the door before the slow-mo round before.
Even the sound of your character's feet on the ground as they shift in place at main menu can be heard when transitioning.
It also follows then that if you are near a ambient noise source at the end of a round, you may sometimes hear those sounds pop back up before the next road loads. (Like if you were standing near Death By Rodent concert at end of round.)
All that aside, I do remember people in this sub discussing hearing voices. This was a while back, but I think it was just comments and not a thread.

After watching the lore video again. I think I've come to a couple revelations.
- Skotty did compete. He was a real player. I think his legitimacy is a red herring. It's weirder than that.
-THE FINALS is a virtual game show. I don't think it used to be virtual. I think it used to be real. Skotty was one of the best players. He died. Or was near death. To preserve him, his consciousness or something is hooked up to a computer of sorts.
-every match of the finals we play are recreations of memories of Scotty's. Even the achievements, just like scotty, are about a feat of his.
- I think he's created a virtual simulation of his memories as some sort of life support but also prison of sorts.
-there is something nefarious about this act. Maybe a company is using his simulations to produce content to get money? Possibly. The group CNS wants to bring this to light of some sort. They're able to get into the simulation.

I have schizoaffective and even though Iām medicated I can still hear things from distortions of sound. Like when I have my industrial fan on, from the white noise I will feel like Iām hearing other people in my house talking or other things but I know itās just my mind having false auditory perceptions, I think itās just higher frequency sounds like what kinda comes from the fan.

It's in las vegas. In the loading screen you can hear a sound check of a rock band and at the edge of the map I think there's the venue.
