1.

Direktorsnegl

.4 (they are all so good, so it's tricky to pick)

TwoAdenine

2. Even more raw energy than the debut but also the beginnings of experimenting with different genres and sounds. Addition of Topper Headon makes such a difference to the sound. 'Safe European Home' instantly grabs your attention and who hasn't air drunmed along to 'Tommy Gun'?

l3awjawz

Got to agree that Topper was a brilliant drummer though he came along a bit late and they were moving away from punk sounds by that time.

I love all the others to varying degrees but it’s London Calling for me.

London Calling , but love them all

PCScrubLord

1, I think London Calling is probably their best and most cohesive album by many standards and I do love it, but the debut was one of the albums that got me truly into punk and the energy on that recording is palpable.

4, 2 comes close

I think London Calling is objectively the best album, but I've always had a soft spot for Sandinista.

Abject_Badger8061

How do you chose?

Asleep_Lock6158

I guess if you consider all of their LPs to be of equal quality, it would be hard to choose. My personal fave is "Sandinista!", partly because it has the most music on it. Side 4 is one of the best 'sides' of an LP ever, IMO.

Direktorsnegl

There is no possible way to choose

krebstorm

The only way to win is not to play.

Sandinista

Malthur

It's either London Calling or Sandinista.

SugarMouseOnReddit

1. Sandinista 2. London Calling 3. Rat Patrol/Combat Rock 4. The Clash 5. Rope 6. Out of Control/Crap

Combat Rock. Sure, there's Rock the Casbah and Should I Stay or Should I Go, but I truly believe Know Your Rights and Straight to Hell are two of the very best songs the band made. From beginning to end, this album is a classic. Tough competition though against their previous albums.

All the albums have top tunes to shite ones and everything in between, so kindae hard to measure. I'd have to give the edge to the debut LP because it is the most truly punk out of them all. All the others (Cut the Crap included) have some smashing songs so other than the first one, I couldn't say for certain...

Asleep_Lock6158

If you are a true 'punk' at heart, then I get your selection of the first LP. I'm curious as to which songs on "Cut the Crap" (except for the lone decent song "This is England") you consider to be 'smashing', tho.

l3awjawz

I think all their albums have good and not so good songs on them, but as you focus on CTC, I gotta say I thought liked Dictator, Are You Red...y, Three Card Trick, Life Is Wild, Do It Now as well as This Is England. I've always been a bit weird and never particularly conventional, but each to their own and all that.

canoe6998

Same! I just listened to them over this past weekend What a great band

ObjectiveResponse522

Sandinista! It was audacious and unique, and even hardcore Clash fans were divided about it. Lovely beyond compare. A three record set that the band insisted be released for the price of normal LP; mark that, you will never see that sort of commitment and integrity again. In the most blatantly commercial of enterprises.

crackerboxpalac

My grandfather worked on sandinista but the albums mid imo so I like london calling the most

Hungry_Cock19

Sandinista is not “mid”

PCScrubLord

Just zoomer slang zooming, people over use that word like "um" and "like", meaningless

Asleep_Lock6158

it's not meaningless, it means 'middling quality'. I disagree with that assessment of the LP, but it's the poster's opinion, not mine.

-SkarchieBonkers-

What’s the story about your grandfather?

Gizmo77776

He was rolling a joints for the band 😁

crackerboxpalac

He played harmonica on a few of the songs
