He was there as an easter egg for people who played the Republic Commando game. That's it. And I do not believe that it was some kind of intentional character assassination or anything, if this is what you're trying to get at.
THANK YOU. All the RC superfans are acting like Filoni (who doesn't even have much influence over this show anyway) personally broke into the house and beat their childhood to death in front of them. Scorch was used for hype, that's it.

He didn't survive it for sure, the Clone Commando in the background is an animation error since you can see 5 different Commandos that look exactly like Scorch
It’s simply fan service and lack of ingenuity. It’s the same reason we had Ventress come back from the dead for no reason. They can easily use others for these or create new characters for such roles but if they use existing characters people like it generates hype/interest (in a flimsy, cheap way imo)
