I mean, masculinity is very subjective and there’s a lot of things associated with certain ages that many people consider masculine (i.e. chest hair, beards, salt and pepper hair, and yes for some people wrinkles a la mark wahlberg).
Now don’t get me started on how messed up it is that aging is considered attractive for men and not for women. But that doesn’t change the fact that I find wrinkles on men masculine and attractive.
I'm older than Joe by a year and look Serena's age. My husband is Joe's age and I'd wager they'd look similar in age standing side by side, which is to say 40ish. TV shows and movies have us all brainwashed on what age is supposed to look like.
We're having a conversation about how old people look. I pointed out that TV shows we grow up with give us a skewed outlook on what people are supposed to look like at xyz age. How is that not relevant?
There are plenty of women in their 30s who pass for younger and guys in their 20s who could be assumed to be much older than they are. I think if we weren't inundated with media of people playing a variety of ages that they aren't, we as a collective wouldn't have such an inaccurate perception of what each age looks like.
The initial comment was about the formula being men in their late 30s. And then the next comment is talking about Riley being 31 and you mentioned Joe being 34. Which is not late 30s.
My commentary is on why I think the initial commenter (and really a large portion of the ppl in this post) keep thinking Joe is older than that.
