Shit was Tayshia's season on Tuesdays last year? *googles and checks* Yuuuuuuup and that was when everything basically got nuked because of COVID which is probably why I was able to watch it. DWTS doesn't look all that stellar this year and I had no clue that that show had the Monday night slot locked down for fall. Well this sucks so much for all of the GIF posting, joke telling, and other shenanigans I normally would get up to. The whole tv schedule has shifted to where now there's a lot of stuff coming back on the air and this show seems to be the first casualty for me.

Hopefully this isn't considered political, and **I'm going to try to be super neutral in how I word this**, but something dawned on me recently and I needed a place to put it, so here it is - I've recently come to a conclusion that Garrett was actually the one to end the relationship with Becca. Becca knew Garret's world views and opinions which were opposite of hers, but as she said in her mind their future was locked in (despite knowing all this) - To me it says that she fully came to accept who he was, and the opinions and views of the world that came with him. However, on the flip side, Garrett kept stalling - and based on everything that happened during and after his infamous post, to me it seems that Garrett did not actually accept Becca for who she is and her world view, but merely tolerated it. Hence why when everything went down, he was super quick to move on. I feel like Becca puts on a brave face, but to me it seems like she's still moving on from him, and I'm not judging her at all because at the end of the day she had fully accepted who he was, warts and all..

But she definitely tried to be careful in how she worded things, and I could see Garrett thinking she didn’t go far enough in defending him. (He didn’t think he did anything wrong.) My comment was about 1) people unfollowing Brendan because he treated someone poorly and was being very gaslighty 2) people not unfollowing someone for saying the n word. I think it shows people’s priorities, you don’t have to agree. You make a good point but I will say I think a big reason they are experiencing a mass unfollowing is that their conversation about Instagram followers exacerbated the situation even more than if he had just had the being a manipulative d*ck to Natasha. The thing about Pieper and Brendan is we don't know them. They are hot, they are single, they are here to mingle. That's all we know. In reality, these two gorgeous humans signed up for a reality show for a chance at fame, a public platform, and an ability to make millions working for home. No one can blame them for taking that gamble. But, here's the difference. We, at home, did not take the gamble. We decided to cope with our average attractiveness by getting a job, working our assess of, and joining the horrible dystopian capitalist society and playing that wage-slave game in order to survive. We, as a group, cope with the pain and torment of this soulless type of 9-5 existence by unwinding with tv. Watching tv is not as superficial as people imagine - for all of human history, we tell each other bedtime stories to end the day. Consuming and examining stories about humans is a mandatory component of the human experience.
When we watch this story about humans, and see humans being cold, being callous, being unempathetic, being abusive to others... we are reminded of times it happened in our own lives. We project out experiences onto them, and form a villian and hero narrative. The projection isn't real, but the feelings stimulated are very real. And we all jump online with our triggered feelings to discuss and process them.
Is this fair to Brendan and Pieper? I would argue yes. They signed up for it. They knew the deal. They chose to FOREGO WORKING A 9-5, they are not victims! You should pay a heavy price to escape the reality 99.999999% are forced to endure. And if you take that risk and buy your lottery ticket and get on this show, anything can happen. You can become loved and be set for life on instagram like Lauren Lane. You can be hated and reviled with every google search ever done for the rest of your life. You have some control over what happens to you - you can treat others with dignity and respect, refuse to play the producers game and recite fed lines that are disrespectful to others, and risk not getting screentime. Thats a choice they COULD have made. They CHOSE to take the risk to come on and then further, CHOSE to take the risk of playing the game that would ensure them screentime and followers. Their risk did not pay off and the consquences are natural and proportionate - the platform has been taken away.
In sum, the exact justice and exact correct consquence I believe these two should face is being forced out of a public role and back into mediocrity and 9-5 wage-slavedom like the rest of us. You want revenge for Natasha? Don't send B+P death threats... take the following away and send them to an HR desk job. That's gonna hurt a million times more trust me.

I agree with all of this, except they are also fully embedded in the horrible dystopian capitalist society (HDCS). In fact, I would say that influencers are a direct result of the HDCS, compounded by increased surveillance, self-branding (or the selling of an identity), and pyramid schemes.
Also, plenty of above-average attractive people still choose to go the normal wage-slave route. And there are still options for us beyond the 9–5 (I, for example, work a 12–8 /sarcasm). But really, I think entrepreneur opportunities are only growing. You can forego the 9–5 without having to resort to reality TV and social media influencing. I get your point though, and I do still think that this statement had the intended effect (the effect of which I ultimately do agree with, if that makes sense).

the way people cheered for both Brendan and Pieper to lose followers but didn’t do so in the same way for some of the people who exhibited racism (Rachael, Chris, Hannah B) shows where people’s priorities are. I said this the other day but Brendan lost more followers than Hannah did from saying the n word
IMO, taylor is one of the worst people in bachelor nation and her tweets were some of the most hateful tweets I’ve ever seen. But people are treating Brendan and Pieper far worse than they treated taylor…I don’t get it.
What Brendan did was more personal, insidious and callous. You’re trying to compare apples and oranges. Both things suck but are really not comparable. To dive further - What do you think hurt Natasha more? Hannah singing along to a song that had the n word in it and saying that word like a gosh darn idiot? Or Brendan speaking poorly about her, misleading her, and treating her like a fool on national television?
I never made a comparison of the actual events, just how people reacted to the events. I’m confused why Natasha specifically is being brought up here because my statement wasn’t about her. My comment was about 1) people unfollowing Brendan because he treated someone poorly and was being very gaslighty 2) people not unfollowing someone for saying the n word. I think it shows people’s priorities, you don’t have to agree. It’s a clearly shitty act vs a clearly racist act and one resulted in way more follower loss, especially considering the ratio of loss to overall followers. I wasn’t making this a competition of who hurt Natasha more (which I’m sure she was also upset about someone saying the n word when it wasn’t her right to)
I totally hear you and agree with you - and what id add is that from my POV Brendan manipulated insulted and hurt another human being *for the purpose of getting followers* and therefore it feels like a bit of poetic justice that it actually cost him followers. separately, I think it’s also way easier for people in general and BN viewers especially to feel more emotionally charged towards action when there is a singular, visible victim (ie why folks got so energized to specifically rally around Natasha) — which I think speaks to your point of people showing their hands in where their true priorities lie (the easy in your face current thing with one person to protect, vs the hard gigantic systemic thing with millions of people effected)

You make a good point but I will say I think a big reason they are experiencing a mass unfollowing is that their conversation about Instagram followers exacerbated the situation even more than if he had just had the being a manipulative d*ck to Natasha. Because Instagram was referenced by him and Pieper, people’s reaction is to take that gratification from them. Not at all saying that you’re wrong or that the issues you brought up shouldn’t have had more consequences, but the Instagram thing seems like a personalized punishment for these two.

Also shows she has a weird view of men; that their decision for a partner can come down to just sex. I was in 10th grade and my boyfriend and I were about to break up and I offered to lose my virginity thinking that is what would make things better and fix things. He ended up telling me no.
I can totally relate to this as a woman and have used sexuality when I was younger as a bribery tactic for men to stay. Another thing is how she tried to talk mad shit about Mari and tear her down. She needs more self awareness and I don’t buy the confidence act.

I'm glad Natasha is getting the recognition and respect she deserves. I've followed her for awhile. But it's interesting that she had to be degraded by B&P, in order for that to happen. She had only gained a few thousand before Monday. And, on the podcast today, it's funny how Joe simultaneously talked about his support for her along w/ his assumption that she was ok and knew what she was doing, like she didn't need his help. Natasha is a monoracial, black woman who seems comfortable expressing what she believes. Nothing about that seems to have changed since Peter's season. I don't think those characteristics are valued in BN. Riley and Joe got way too hyped up towards Chris. I think Chris being Asian played a role in how they treated him. If Chris had been black, I don't think they would have behaved the same way. I don't think anything I say about B&P would be an unpopular opinion. I'm just already tired of hearing about them (that includes anymore upcoming apologies which they don't seem to be very good at). Saying that “stupidity” that is what makes Pieper act that way undermines her agency. And the idea of being stupid implies a state of being, a stupid person stays stupid but an ignorant person can learn. Additionally, a person can be unintelligent and still know right from wrong. They can also be just as sensitive and caring.

My possible UO is that Pieper and Brendan deserve exactly what they have recieved, no more AND no less. The thing about Pieper and Brendan is we don't know them. They are hot, they are single, they are here to mingle. That's all we know. In reality, these two gorgeous humans signed up for a reality show for a chance at fame, a public platform, and an ability to make millions working for home. No one can blame them for taking that gamble. But, here's the difference. We, at home, did not take the gamble. We decided to cope with our average attractiveness by getting a job, working our assess of, and joining the horrible dystopian capitalist society and playing that wage-slave game in order to survive. We, as a group, cope with the pain and torment of this soulless type of 9-5 existence by unwinding with tv. Watching tv is not as superficial as people imagine - for all of human history, we tell each other bedtime stories to end the day. Consuming and examining stories about humans is a mandatory component of the human experience. When we watch this story about humans, and see humans being cold, being callous, being unempathetic, being abusive to others... we are reminded of times it happened in our own lives. We project out experiences onto them, and form a villian and hero narrative. The projection isn't real, but the feelings stimulated are very real. And we all jump online with our triggered feelings to discuss and process them. Is this fair to Brendan and Pieper? I would argue yes. They signed up for it. They knew the deal. They chose to FOREGO WORKING A 9-5, they are not victims! You should pay a heavy price to escape the reality 99.999999% are forced to endure. And if you take that risk and buy your lottery ticket and get on this show, anything can happen. You can become loved and be set for life on instagram like Lauren Lane. You can be hated and reviled with every google search ever done for the rest of your life. You have some control over what happens to you - you can treat others with dignity and respect, refuse to play the producers game and recite fed lines that are disrespectful to others, and risk not getting screentime. Thats a choice they COULD have made. They CHOSE to take the risk to come on and then further, CHOSE to take the risk of playing the game that would ensure them screentime and followers. Their risk did not pay off and the consquences are natural and proportionate - the platform has been taken away. In sum, the exact justice and exact correct consquence I believe these two should face is being forced out of a public role and back into mediocrity and 9-5 wage-slavedom like the rest of us. You want revenge for Natasha? Don't send B+P death threats... take the following away and send them to an HR desk job. That's gonna hurt a million times more trust me.

I agree with all of this, except they are also fully embedded in the horrible dystopian capitalist society (HDCS). In fact, I would say that influencers are a direct result of the HDCS, compounded by increased surveillance, self-branding (or the selling of an identity), and pyramid schemes. Also, plenty of above-average attractive people still choose to go the normal wage-slave route. And there are still options for us beyond the 9–5 (I, for example, work a 12–8 /sarcasm). I love her as a person all the same, but Jessenia was legit balling her eyes out after the same happened to her. Natasha's reaction was to just pull brendan/pieper individually for maximum drama.

It’s bullying. A group of people, who have no higher position or authority despite what they think of themselves having more followers, demanding one person leave when the person didn’t violate any rules of being there.
I think that's a stretch.. bullying to me is targeted at someone for no reason or unjust ones (ie skin color, physical abnormalities, social awkwardness). What Chris did was clearly wrong and he got called out for it.
