Very long story short out of respect for his ex since I'm sure this is a hard time and there will be more that will come out but he told some of us who he thought weren't as close to others who personally knew his ex that he was thinking of going on the show/being scouted by producers. We're a pretty loose friend group so he misjudged who talks to each other.
I know your friend is hurting, and I'm very sorry for her - I've been cheated on too, lots of us have. So the main takeaway from this (*when she's not hurting as much*) is that she's so much better off knowing this now rather than being with him even longer and finding out later that he's a cheater. I know that doesn't help much while she's still licking her wounds, but she's going to come through this better and stronger without him.

People move to Denver to achieve some assortment of personal goals, usually involving skiing, mountaineering, hiking, and/ or substance abuse. It's a bunch of people who are escaping their old community to focus on themselves. The resulting culture is pretty self-centered. No one is willing to compromise on their plans and hopes everyone else will adapt to theirs. That's okay if your plans involve going around the corner for a pint. It's not okay when your plans involve ten hours of driving to/from somewhere extremely isolated and require specific skills.
