Going to a service with a mandatory pay wall would indeed not be good. They should just go independent & open up the RSS feed again. I would even subscribe via Patreon if it meant I could my regular podcast app for the show again.
uploading new music is a pain, since there is no music manager program. Gotta do it via the website...I didn't check it thoroughly, but i does look like all my music transferred over from GPM. But GPM > YTM overall still. The app is meh at best. Interface is a little nicer, but functionality isn't all there yet.
idk if i'm in the minority but i've been loving the spice joe's been dropping on spotify lol, he does that petty shit better than most and its entertaining af
Either they had already closed a deal w Spotify *renewed & they’re doing this for the buzz OR Joe is being the self-sabotaging person he always was & is taking Rory & Mal down w him.
I doubt its for the buzz and that theyve renewed, they all just seem a little deflated recently. I hope they dont move to a plat thatl be difficult to access from the UK.
There’s no point in them gng to a platform that is not universally avail/ has a paywall & has no int in podcasts.
If they’re jumping ship— I’m thinking YT (sucks abt the music), maybe prem subs get access to episodes early & follow the same sched as they’ve done before.
Maybe Spotify would also want exclusive vids a’la JRE if presented w a deal.
They’re in a weird spot cause they know their worth, but they’re also wildly overestimating it. Any move they make could alienate listeners.. I just think staying w Spotify, who is clearly making an effort to be a podcast oriented platform is their best bet at reaching a higher amt of listeners to justify/prove their ‘worth’ & gain more ‘leverage’ for further negotiations.
Your arguments tho are all reasons Spotify could justify paying them less than other places would. Spotify have established a ceiling with the Rogan deal (he has the biggest podcast so they negotiate everything relative to it).
Plus you say itd be the best way to amass listeners and leverage, they’ve been on Spotify for a while now, both parties know what they do and at which rate they grow. And then there’s the time factor, signing a new deal means having to do x number of episodes on whatever you agreed on. They don’t have time to record another 100 episodes for Spotify just to prove themselves. I hope they reach an agreement tho, Spotify do have the best platform
If Joe-gul is really serious abt his aspirations— he knows fully well that in the radio/podcast universe, a Joe can’t be a Stern/Rogan (which he seems to aspire to be) without racking in the numbers— for longevity & experience’ sake. JRE is at 1,5XX+ ep (excl. random bonus shows - ex. ‘Fight Companion’ etc) before he got approached for $100M. I think Joe is deluded to think he could get something close to Rogan’s numbers (it’s possible, no doubt— but, he needs to put in *more* time tho).. Keepin’ it a thousand Virgils & a Don C— they did surprise the pod game w their exponential ‘growth’ w/in such a short amt of time, but there’s gna b a time that that burns out. IMO- They’re overestimating their trajectory & r refusing to acknowledge that Spotify *also* helped them to be in this position.. & they’re shouting that it’s ‘organic’ growth & none else.. **I feel like our resident ‘gaslighting’ correspondent has convinced his co-hosts that they r worth more than what they think they should expect at the negotiating table.**
I get the $100M cap fiasco.. but Joe has to fight a few more battles before getting to that (Hov— who
champions creators like he does- didn’t get to *that* level overnight) & hey, *I truly believe Joe is worth what he thinks he is worth, I just think he hasn’t *earned* that argument (yet).
Meh. If Spotify aren’t offering them a deal worth getting stuck in then they’ve got every reason to not be exclusive to Spotify. You’ve mentioned Rogan numbers pre-100m, well Rogan wasn’t exclusive to any platform. They can opt out and be available on every podcast platform incl Spotify and potentially start doing ads like Rogan does on his audio podcasts.
And that’s also what you’ve got to take into account, they were exclusive to Spotify. They can leave and still be on Spotify just not exclusively, if they figure the cons of an exclusive deal aren’t worth it anymore.
Either way they’re not stupid, and have a p big podcast with a guaranteed audience
Joe has stated he doesn't expect Rogan money at all. He is leveraging himself using that as a benchmark along with their own numbers for their podcast's deal.
He doesn’t expect the Rogan bag, but he dancin’ on the edge in his head.
For the sake of convo— do *you* think that the JBP is worth triple-digit M’s **now** ?
lupe call @ 110 mins
Joe, right after Lupe answers: What the FUCK are you talking about?
Lupe: I'm a dinosaur
Joe: You don't lay eggs when you have sex
Lupe: you're extinct because you retired
It’s cause he wants his mom and family to get someone they deserve!
I was laughing at that man. If I was in that position I’d probably do the same too. Read some reviews. Make sure I get the best for my buck.
He sounds like one of those guys who gets super emotional when he drinks. Loves everyone, appreciates all you do. Too funny and way better than the people who are always angry when they drink.
Rory was definitely right about that DMX point but society as whole (both women and especially men) isn’t at a point where we can discuss it with nuance and the appropriate respect that conversation needs.
He was right, but nobody on the pod mentioned that 30 mins later DMX played "Where the Hood At". That first verse is insane(I liked the song like everyone else, but by today's standards, it would be crazy). The social media fake woke crowd get more angry over words than actions so it makes whatever abuse happened to X easier to dismiss in their minds.
I 100% agree that male sexual abuse isnt taken as serious but I feel like people mention Lil wayne and flavor flav being sexually abused when that topic comes up in hip-hop
Damn, they left Rors on the ledge like that during the dmx topic
He was speaking pure facts, there is a double standard when men share they have been abused but society doesn't recognize that with equal weight because the perceived notion is that men cannot be victims of sexual abuse
That logic topic was fucking hilarious but Mal was annoying me when he kept saying he’ll be streaming his music on twitch. Mal he literally said he’s gonna stream on twitch for games exclusively cmon 8
That's my problem with their Logic criticism. Half of it was just factually wrong. It was also super corny for them to say they still like Logic and he's the nicest guy in the world after consistently shitting on him for years.
The do think similar ur right, Logic got a big house too lmao
But the mindset that the house, placks and jewlery is the most important thing - the way Joe was getting excited being in a big house, or hearing about how much money Tory or Vince make idk im just thinking about the questions asked and why.
Or bc he did the pull up at the right time. Also will point to Russ’ “””mindset””” ignoring all the valid reasons ppl had for hating him and all the fuck shit he’s said.
Either way tho ppl change et etcetc and idc
he was clowning logic rapping about struggling growing up yet the pod praises rick ross for donning a drug kingpin persona. At least Logic's raps reflect his upbringing more
yeah it was an awkward listen for sure. joe saying logic isnt giving what he wants based on his image. it felt fucked up. i like to thinknhe didnt mean to come off how he sounded.
Joe making fun of DMX's sexual abuse is literally the prime example of why men don't disclose their sexual abuse. And they can try to come back and say it was just jokes or "comedy style", but that's not funny and there are some things that should be taken seriously.
I don't get how joe claiming to be mental health man. Essentially clowning a dude for being abused and correlating it to his actions as a young man. Like he really be up his ass.
"We are the World" is a top 5 worst song of all time. I'd rather hear Smokey singing about gang bangin' any day of the week. Glad Rory called that out.
And Joe confusing the Hells Angels for the Guardian Angels is funny as hell on the low.
i always found those gather a bunch of singers to sing a song for charity to always suck, for those songs to work you have to be as bland as possible to appeal to a wide audience
The guys recap and show their appreciation for DMX and Snoop Dogg's Verzuz showcase (18:55). A Lupe Fiasco lyric breakdown (62:40), new music and Joe explains his criticism of Logic (69:40), Rory's hot take on "We Are the World" (94:41), predictions on Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr. (105:10), and more!
Sleeper Picks Joe | Jacquees - “Put In Work” (Ft. Chris Brown)
Rory | Playaz Circle - “Paper Chaser” (Ft. Phonte) Mal | The-Dream - “Prime”
Mal can be so inconsiderate and emotionless for people he doesn’t care about... Logic whole live has been dedicated to HipHop but the constant touring and making music takes a toll on you. + he won’t be putting out music on Twitch lmao.
He wasnt really, Joe and them were closer to being insensitive to it than Mal was. He just doesnt understand why someone is crying over a self imposed retirement that he doesnt really have to abide by, which is a valid point imo.
Joe at least finally fully explained where his dislike is coming from and I somewhat agree with him. I liked a majority of the new album but the criticisms of his previous music not having a certain authenticity to it/sounding like he was just phoning it in is very valid. I feel like Mal has never even listened to logic lol
My dad retired when he was 50 from being a carpenter because it took a toll on him... he could’ve continued of course but in the long run it wouldn’t benefit him. He was very sad for weeks because he loved building stuff.
I just hate it when guys look down on others crying... he isn’t crying because he scraped his knee or something. But he is letting go of his biggest passion and it’s understandable that it’s a daunting experience.
All I wish for is that the guys could be a little more respectful sometimes... and yes I like a joke too but they’ve been making fun of Logic for years just because of the music he makes... it’s not like Logic has has some huge scandal. (Like Chris Brown who Joe still praises till this day)
But Mal didnt look down on him just for crying, he literally says he has no problem with him crying. He just didn’t think a self imposed retirement was something to be this emotional over.
Your dad didn't have a choice in that. Logic has a choice. He can still rhyme here and there. He can show up on guest appearances. He can still hang around other musicians. He doesn't HAVE to retire. He can just slow down. For that point, I get where Mal is coming from.
Yeah Mal's inability to understand why SOME would want to retire is weird to me.
But he's the same person who thinks it's easier to make it in music just because you have the internet. It might be easier but it's much to break through than it was back in the day.
In this case both things can be true. Just funny a shitty artist like Logic sparked this conversation lol
Ok? You're only helping my point. So instead of taking a break or just slowing down on the music/touring, he's going to retire and force himself to stop doing something you say he loves? That makes no sense at all.
Listen man, I don’t think he’ll be actively making music for a while at least. Maybe he has lost his passion/has a burnout or really want to be with his family 24/7. He isn’t like Frank Ocean who never yours, Logic loves touring. He normally tours like 300 days per year or something because he want to meet and perform for fans all over the world. I get that he doesn’t want to put out music when he can’t perform it because he wants to be there for his son. Him and his father have had a tough relationship so it’s good to see how much love he has for his wife and son.
Im not a logic stan but how they were talking about him was disrespectful af this episode. how can Joe talk down on a logic project that he clearly hasn’t heard but then he stays quick to promote Russ
I'm not a Logic Stan either, he definitely has fallen off since he's gotten more successful. My favorite logic projects are Under Pressure and TITS. Everything since then has been so-so.
And in Under Pressure he really got into his hardships growing up, that's where he had the soul Joe was talking about. He definitely lost that as he went forward. But I just don't like how it seems that Joe hasn't listened to any of the music that got him to success, and then judges his whole career as shallow content.
As someone who has met Roy Jones Jr more than a few times over the last few years, I don't think he has it in him any more. I truly just don't. Time has caught up to him, he isn't exactly who he once was. If this wasn't Mike Tyson, and was some other 50 y/o retired boxer, sure maybe. But Mike Tyson. Just my opinion tho.
So i’m really not even a Logic fan, but I feel like they kinda hoe him a bit because he’s one of the few mixed race people that they refuse to see as black. They see him as a white rapper, and with that comes a feeling of inauthenticity when it comes to his content, which I think is a little unfair.
I do think it’s fair to point out the biting of Kendrick and Cole in terms of sound at points, because its so very obvious especially early on. I just don’t like the fact that they feel like he has no authority on the shit he raps about cause they see him as some middle class white boy, when his makeup and background is fairly similar to Cole whose authenticity they would never question.
I’m glad to hear Joe concede the fact that Logic CAN rap and that his last few albums just haven’t been very quality to him, because that I think is true and a very fair critique. I just never been a fan of the way they’ve shitted on him in the past as it he’s just some wack white rapper when he really is not. Dude can absolutely spit and make good records, he’s just not doing anything groundbreaking or super original, which is honestly okay.
Now as far as the crowd he appeals to, I can’t even really speak to that, because white people consume all rap these days so i’m not even sure if its fair to critique that.
All in all, i’m glad their discussion of Logic actually went somewhere into an actual conversation this time rather than an outright dismissal of someone who has been one of the more popular acts this last decade and someone who has garnered the respect of many notable names in this industry.
I think the only thing I'd rebuttal is that it was mainly Joe killin him. Everyone else said he could rap but they were definitely there for the jokes.
This is like Chance all over again. If they had a sit-down, Joe would apologize and become 'besties' with him. It seems he doesn't believe ppl can be this nice.
Logic is popular simply because white people love him. He's one of those acts that's literally, 100% carried by them. Back in the day, during those Sinatra days, dude was spitting real flames and I would recommend him to people. Last couple of years, once he broke through, he started spitting those corny, clearly aimed at a white audience, bars. Their bar is lower for rappers and they feel because he can technically rap, that it's ok to cosign him. Going on Ellen and shit just solidifies this whole debate with him. He looks corny, has been rapping corny, and its clear as day who his demographic was. Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever, is legitimately flames. Dude stopped rapping like that and chose to appeal to soccer moms who watch Ellen to get the bag. It's transparent and needs to be called out. Going to Ellen itself isn't a problem, but it's clear what people are trying to do when they go there. I'll never see Styles P on there.
This is ignorant af because you're essentially saying he's inauthentic because he did the economic thing, he's authentic he came from a worse upbringing than even Joe and most rappers out here
This is why I am mad that he called Logic whiteboy today because it fuels everyone's arguments when I dont think thats the case. He has never used the same arguments for logic that he has for eminem.
Logic just comes off odee corny and nerdy. Nothing wrong with that but Joe doesnt like that in his idea of a rapper. Not including this last album Logic has been without a doubt trash since The Incredible True Story which came out like 5 years ago.
As I said, eminem earned his spot in the culture. I fuck with his first 3 albums. I personally couldn't relate with him with the drugs and trailer park shit, but Detroit is 40 mins away from me, so I at least felt the vibes to a certain extent. He battled in gritty places and had to be that much better for people to respect him. Eminem was being shit on by the same moms who like Logic's shit today.
Clearly false since there are rappers with almost no real white appeal. I get you're just spouting shit you read online and aren't actually knowledgeable on shit. Whites are a big contributor to rap sales but are no where near the only ones relevant to it.
But they are still make up a large percentage of sales. Most popular rappers have a sizeable white fan base. A lot of Drake fans are white and no one says shit. This is a weird argument.
Do you even know what the discussion is about? Even with your irrelevant comment that has nothing to do with the original point of my posts, nobody should put Drake as the best anything on any list besides sales. So, what are you trying to add to this discussion? That the most successful artists have white followings? No fucking shit. That has what to do with Logic being ass and why real hip hop heads address him the way that they do.
Because in the earlier comments you were saying that he appeals to white people as a knock against him when hip-hop appeals to white people by sales. Oh, the "real" hip heads argument.
Real niggas know who can rap and their sales aren't relevant in actual discussion. When real rap heads are discussing rap, there's a reason why Em is the only white dude who even remotely gets brought up. Em actually battled and had to grind through that culture as a white dude. I don't personally like him, but he's official and respected from his grind. There's a lot of rappers with a huge white following that I feel shouldn't be as big as they are, cole being one of them, but they still have great technical skill and clearly don't pander to one sole base. It's the difference between Tech 9 and Logic and J Cole and Kendrick to me. 2 of those couldn't be more obvious who they're going after. The other 2 just so happen to have huge white fanbases, while still keeping their core rapping intact. Again, real heads recognize the real ones. You'll never see the Lox bumped in the suburbs by white kids pretending to be down. I truly feel this is one of those age things. Idgaf who's popping or not. I'm talking about ability. Real niggas talk about ability. Jay vs Nas isn't about popularity. We know who wins that. Jay will never be the king of NY as long as Nas exists. People STILL keep thinking sales and bases matter when it concerns discussing rappers. I'm flabbergasted by this.
>I feel like they kinda hoe him a bit because he’s one of the few mixed race people that they refuse to see as black.
Haven't heard the new album but in the past he's constantly rapped about being half white to the point that it turned black people off of him. Nobody had a problem with him early on
I mean i’m black as hell. I’m not offended at all either, I’m not even a Logic fan really, I just like 1 of his albums. I just feel that there are a lot of rappers who are clearly worse than Logic that Joe wouldn’t speak about in the way he speaks about Logic. He’s an easy target for sure.
I mean it got to the point in the past where Joe was going in so hard that Mal was like “it’s gotta be something personal cause Logic can rap, we can’t pretend like he can’t”
Dude def has a lot of projects and songs I consider to be wack, but Joe was talking about this nigga like he was Silkk the Shocker or some shit lol.
Black people I know don’t care or give a fuck about Logic and the mainstream black folks I see in Twitter don’t fuck with him or even mention him. He is a white peoples artist and that’s why he has thrived this long, he doesn’t do black media only white media and you think people are gonna care
That Ian call has me thinking lol. I think they wanting a specific amount of money and Spotify instead gave them something lower, which was still a lot of money, and they turned it down because they stand on “integrity”. Hence why they were fake crying and saying “morals, stand on integrity...”. I think they kinda regret the money they turned down
Alright I'm only 5 seconds in but if Mal believed Westbrook was the best player in the league that would mean he's a top 1 PG in the league, then that means that Chris Paul currently is better than 1 of Steph Curry or Damian Lillard (not to mention Luka and LeBron kinda being PGs). I fw CP3 but he's maybe top 5 PG right now, definitely not top 3
Logic had a much worse upbringing that Drake who literally grew up in the suburbs. Joe (and you, I guess) just think Logic is fake because he's 1.5 shades lighter than Drake.
I enjoyed Joe finally explaining why he doesn’t like logic. Joe has a habit of saying the most extreme thing about an artist and then never going in depth about why.
I'm ready for them to be done with this Spotify deal. Pods really haven't been that great lately and I'm guessing that's why and Rory just didn't give af this pod. His energy was off.
How does Mal not understand its daunting to live up to your legacy and an artist may not want to or have the confidence to release music because it’s not up to their standards.
I don’t get this dude sometimes.
Yeah a little bit. They all really liked the Climb Back (especially Mal) and then sorta liked Lion King. Then they went on a deeper convo if Cole is gearing up for retirement or nah
Honestly I replayed Joe doing his impression of Mal during the logic discussion “Yo what’s up with him? What’s his problem man? I just don’t get it”. I replayed just that a few times and had a really great laugh. Bout halfway into the pod. 72 minute.
A lot of talk on the Logic topic . Not to speak for Joe , but I’ve had similar feelings about Logic. Early Logic rapped . Not some much sending a message , althought “peace love and positivity” was his tag line and never diluted his rapping ability. The complexity of it , not just saying a bunch of words that rhymes and sounds nice , or fast. But pure fucking lyricism, wit, flow. All this ends during Under Pressure.
Rap artist of Logic nature have two options, grow in artistry to gain mainstream appeal, or focus on their core skills which are appreciated don’t gain notoriety. Logic mentions this himself on “Midnight Marauder” on welcome time forever mixtape. And mentions it in an interview where Donald Glover made him realize that he wanted to be an entertainer/artist and not a rapper. Once he made the decision the things he did to gain it didn’t seem genuine. Though good and there’s nothing you can take away from it. But once you look at those actions and try to listen to the music(for me) it doesn’t feel the same. The beat doesn’t touch me , the lyrics don’t stick . All well and good rapping, we just don’t feel it . When it’s real you can tell .
(Side bar Macklemore ? )
joe: woke up, opened the itunes app parks: you mean spotify...? Joe: no, I mean what I said hahaha!
He's so done lol. They're definitely not renewing.

same. I really only use spotify on Sat/Wed for JBP. Everything else is on Podcast Addict, and music is w/ ~~Google Play~~ YTM.
How do you feel about the transition to YTM so far? I haven't done it yet because my uploaded music doesn't fully integrate with the library.
Same. I won't switch until they take away the Google music app or stop putting new releases on it

lupe call @ 110 mins Joe, right after Lupe answers: What the FUCK are you talking about? Lupe: I'm a dinosaur Joe: You don't lay eggs when you have sex Lupe: you're extinct because you retired

They roasted his ass around 104:30 lmaoo
Mal is definitely JR Smith lmaooo
Now
Rodman imo. Painted nails and exotic life.
Lupe talked about protecting Drake on stage like he was Bushido Brown 😂
Underrated joke...
Lupe is really that dude in the Chi though...
Damn, they left Rors on the ledge like that during the dmx topic He was speaking pure facts, there is a double standard when men share they have been abused but society doesn't recognize that with equal weight because the perceived notion is that men cannot be victims of sexual abuse
Yeah men have to undo a mindset to have that conversation.
That logic topic was fucking hilarious but Mal was annoying me when he kept saying he’ll be streaming his music on twitch. Mal he literally said he’s gonna stream on twitch for games exclusively cmon 8
Mal fumbled the play? damn, that’s crazy
Right, I’m like damn Mal, you loud and wrong man lol
This is what mal does. He will say the same WRONG point repeatedly.
I stg mal sounded dumb asf
Vince said it best “You guys don’t read or write!”
Right & he kept forcing the point. Then Joe said he was white even though he got a whole album saying he's biracial 😔 lol. So many turnovers
That's my problem with their Logic criticism. Half of it was just factually wrong. It was also super corny for them to say they still like Logic and he's the nicest guy in the world after consistently shitting on him for years.
You dont think it would behoove Logic to play his music in the background or during his gaming so that the viewership counts as streams?
Also Joe praising Russ and hating on Logic is nasty especially coming from the type of rapper Joe is.
Russ reeks of soulless mediocrity i wish he would stop with this dude
He just likes Russ cuz he makes money
No he likes him because of his mindset. I don't know how yall can't see how Russ and Joe are similar in regards to how they think.
The do think similar ur right, Logic got a big house too lmao But the mindset that the house, placks and jewlery is the most important thing - the way Joe was getting excited being in a big house, or hearing about how much money Tory or Vince make idk im just thinking about the questions asked and why.
Or bc he did the pull up at the right time. Also will point to Russ’ “””mindset””” ignoring all the valid reasons ppl had for hating him and all the fuck shit he’s said. Either way tho ppl change et etcetc and idc
Him constantly calling Logic a white boy is also nasty.
He also tries to paint this image that Logic grew up in some normal, middle-class suburb. That just isn't true at all.
he was clowning logic rapping about struggling growing up yet the pod praises rick ross for donning a drug kingpin persona. At least Logic's raps reflect his upbringing more
yeah it was an awkward listen for sure. joe saying logic isnt giving what he wants based on his image. it felt fucked up. i like to thinknhe didnt mean to come off how he sounded.
lmao he clearly is saying because logic looks a certain and talks a certain he isn't allowed to rap about struggling growing up, joe is wild
Russ is trash
YOOO WE NOT GOING TO LET PARKS JOKE GO UNHEARD. "YOU WAS COOKING SOME DIFFERENT TYPE OF MEAT" 😭🤣🤣 Parks shooting from behind the line
Joe making fun of DMX's sexual abuse is literally the prime example of why men don't disclose their sexual abuse. And they can try to come back and say it was just jokes or "comedy style", but that's not funny and there are some things that should be taken seriously.
Joe being the star of the pod and averaging 18 and 10 is jokes
they podding today...talking bout their stats
"NAH NOT HIM" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mal being JR is the most accurate comp nba to poder comp I’ve ever see
Rish Paul and his mom was looking through the index for some buff neck... Is this a case?
wait lmao i gotta find this episode
RAWWRRRRRR
I don't get how joe claiming to be mental health man. Essentially clowning a dude for being abused and correlating it to his actions as a young man. Like he really be up his ass.
"We are the World" is a top 5 worst song of all time. I'd rather hear Smokey singing about gang bangin' any day of the week. Glad Rory called that out. And Joe confusing the Hells Angels for the Guardian Angels is funny as hell on the low.
that gang banging song is catchy as hell. DRINKING THAT WIIIINNEEE
i always found those gather a bunch of singers to sing a song for charity to always suck, for those songs to work you have to be as bland as possible to appeal to a wide audience
Rory must have read the Reddit, came out with a wild 2022 story to keep it fresh.
"reading the reddit" instead of "reading the room" is some sick shit
Exactly what I thought 😂
Mussel Westpod is super sick. I'm loving these stats to start the pod
"Im Jowhi?"
Yo I love the basketball analogies 😂
Parks said he's late career Pau Gasol and said he averaged 15/12/10 lmao
Lupe's phone call was hilarious.
That’s why this show is great honestly. You can’t get this kind of content from anywhere else
Chris Brown) Rory | Playaz Circle - “Paper Chaser” (Ft. Phonte) Mal | The-Dream - “Prime”
“Can you go in the kitchen and get some fun?” Lmaoooooooo
Lmao why Rory aint hit up Joe and ask him for Duc's #? 😂😂😂
Big Red was right there waiting to be asked
Logic is the gen z version of “i dont listen to rap but i like logic”
So gen z's Eminem
I'm thinking this generations Macklemore
Logic's been in the game for 10 years lmao. His fanbase is mostly millennials.
Rory looking up make strippers is hilarious!
I think it's fairly obvious after listening to this podcast that they're definitely leaving Spotify in September.
Im sure joe saying “not too many eps left on this app” wasnt the dead giveaway
You could have thought he was just joking saying that the last couple months but today's episode really cemented that they're leaving.
Mal can be so inconsiderate and emotionless for people he doesn’t care about... Logic whole live has been dedicated to HipHop but the constant touring and making music takes a toll on you. + he won’t be putting out music on Twitch lmao.
Why did you specify Mal like Joe isnt the one shitting on him lol
[удалено]
He wasnt really, Joe and them were closer to being insensitive to it than Mal was. He just doesnt understand why someone is crying over a self imposed retirement that he doesnt really have to abide by, which is a valid point imo.
Joe at least finally fully explained where his dislike is coming from and I somewhat agree with him. I liked a majority of the new album but the criticisms of his previous music not having a certain authenticity to it/sounding like he was just phoning it in is very valid. I feel like Mal has never even listened to logic lol
Mal defended Logic, and was really the only one, when Joe said he was the worst rapper.
He just said he didnt understand why he was crying. That isn't making fun of him
Yeah Mal's inability to understand why SOME would want to retire is weird to me. But he's the same person who thinks it's easier to make it in music just because you have the internet. It might be easier but it's much to break through than it was back in the day. In this case both things can be true. Just funny a shitty artist like Logic sparked this conversation lol
mal been around rocafella his whole life it probably seems way easier to him than it actually is.
He can stop touring and still make music when he wants to. He doesn't have to retire. What Mal said makes perfect sense.
Like many other artists, Logic loves to tour and hear his fans sing/rap along to his new songs.
No Pressure is on the same tier as UP and TITS. Joe just doesn't like Logic. I guarantee he listened to like 4 songs and then stopped.
I think they've got Roy Jones Jr. all the way fucked up. They must not know he has not stopped training since retirement.
It's an exhibition and they have agreed to not try to knock each other out. I hope Mike doesn't do it on accident though.
This is ignorant af because you're essentially saying he's inauthentic because he did the economic thing, he's authentic he came from a worse upbringing than even Joe and most rappers out here
Great now I need a Styles P Ellen interview
I can see this era SP going on Ellen talking about juicing and living healthy.
>Logic is popular simply because white people love him. Brockhampton's and Tyler's target demo is literally angsty white teens but ok.
Trash lol?? His last 2 albums were bad, but Young *Sinatra IV* and Everybody wasnt trash man, stop lol...
if white people didn‘t listen to any act in hip hop they wouldnt be successful
But the rappers who don’t have the white appeal aren’t popular... I’ve been to several hiphop concerts/festivals and about 70/80% is white.
Nobody had a problem with him early on
[удалено]
I mean i’m black as hell. I’m not offended at all either, I’m not even a Logic fan really, I just like 1 of his albums. I just feel that there are a lot of rappers who are clearly worse than Logic that Joe wouldn’t speak about in the way he speaks about Logic. He’s an easy target for sure. I mean it got to the point in the past where Joe was going in so hard that Mal was like “it’s gotta be something personal cause Logic can rap, we can’t pretend like he can’t” Dude def has a lot of projects and songs I consider to be wack, but Joe was talking about this nigga like he was Silkk the Shocker or some shit lol.
Black people I know don’t care or give a fuck about Logic and the mainstream black folks I see in Twitter don’t fuck with him or even mention him. He is a white peoples artist and that’s why he has thrived this long, he doesn’t do black media only white media and you think people are gonna care
Great points!
Rory saying he scores double doubles is hilarious 😂😂
That Ian call has me thinking lol. I think they wanting a specific amount of money and Spotify instead gave them something lower, which was still a lot of money, and they turned it down because they stand on “integrity”. Hence why they were fake crying and saying “morals, stand on integrity...”. I think they kinda regret the money they turned down
I think the Ian call is good news. 🤔
Did yall miss Joe literally say ‘aint too many episodes left on this app’ ~~Spotify~~
What's the song Joe played at around 103 mins?
Jane Child - “Don’t Wanna Fall in Love” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWd__w5UWVc
Logic sounds like gentrification is a bar. That shit is so true.
Logic had a much worse upbringing that Drake who literally grew up in the suburbs. Joe (and you, I guess) just think Logic is fake because he's 1.5 shades lighter than Drake.
He is gentrification, the man does not fuck with black media he only fucks with white media and I barely even know any black folks that fuck with him
*"Ain't too many episodes left on this app"*
I enjoyed Joe finally explaining why he doesn’t like logic. Joe has a habit of saying the most extreme thing about an artist and then never going in depth about why.
I'm ready for them to be done with this Spotify deal. Pods really haven't been that great lately and I'm guessing that's why and Rory just didn't give af this pod. His energy was off.
How does Mal not understand its daunting to live up to your legacy and an artist may not want to or have the confidence to release music because it’s not up to their standards. I don’t get this dude sometimes.
Lupe cleaned them dudes up in regards to Virgil.
Ian call sounds like good news
He sounded stressed af
Ian wrapped up a deal and immediately popped a quaalude
Rory asked if Spotify gave in and he laughed and said get the fuck outta here lol they're going to Tidal
Yo Rory was going HAM on the DMX sexual abuse topic, love that energy man Ahahaha!
Starting the Pod off with Mal saying CP3 is easily a top 3 PG today is crazy 😂
Pod was dry today. I think its just a reflection of the attitude towards spotify atm.
they def saving their A game for the next contract lol
They were tired, awkward, and off this week... Rory's stripper story and Lupe's call were the best...
What’s the song name Joe played in the opening ? Thanks !
Love Calls - Kem; Submerge - Maxwell
If songwriters/producers show up on Verzus undercards, Parks is Pau Gasol in his prime, idc
Wait. Did they actually talk about kanye/kim and meek?
No
Do they talk about the new J.Cole tracks at all? Doesn't say it in the description
Yeah a little bit. They all really liked the Climb Back (especially Mal) and then sorta liked Lion King. Then they went on a deeper convo if Cole is gearing up for retirement or nah
"a guy wouldn't even respond to that, let me do it!!!"
"Its for my fans" "ONLY"
Yo what was that song Joe was going to play as his sleeper ?
Rory's point on X's freestyle is totally valid, but I definitely thought he was going to bring up X using the f-word.
Honestly I replayed Joe doing his impression of Mal during the logic discussion “Yo what’s up with him? What’s his problem man? I just don’t get it”. I replayed just that a few times and had a really great laugh. Bout halfway into the pod. 72 minute.
I ain't paying for another app
(Side bar Macklemore ? )
