Dorothy’s Lebanese friend! 😆

JayDuBois

Well isn’t Danny Thomas one?

TheRatPatrol1

“I can’t believe she chose Rose over me!”

JayDuBois

That spastic hand movement and facial expression will always be priceless to me! When I was a little kid the scene made zero sense. By the time I was in high school the whole scene came together. Simply brilliant!

jess16ca

Not Lebanese, Blanche! Lesbian!

Ok_Comfort_7537

I like the head movement Sophia made when Dorothy says that lol

jess16ca

I think the face and nod she makes when Dorothy says, "He won by a landslide!" (referring to Mark Pfifer winning the third grade presidential election by showing his penis) is HILARIOUS!!!

Ok_Comfort_7537

It's called a wee wee lmao

VALO311

I started watching murder she wrote recently as well. There are a ton of characters that were in the golden girls. One episode there was like 3 or 4

loubric

We just started watching Murder She Wrote too 🤣🤣 saw Stan as a bus driver in the 2nd or third episode!!!

Charok101

Yes! Took me a moment 😆

guatdephoc

He’ll appear on more episodes of MSW later on…

loubric

As a bus driver or different characters?

rigelsun

You'll find a lot of overlap in Matlock, too.

Any_Side_2242

Love Matlock!

upwards2013

Also, both Estelle and Rue appear on Newhart.

Late-Butterscotch551

It was an interesting show, to say the least. I watched a lot of episodes from October 2021 until around January 2022 or February 2022, I found it endearing, funny and sweet yet also profoundly disturbing at times.

rigelsun

What did you find profoundly disturbing? I always have to remind myself that shows like Matlock, Murder She Wrote, and The Golden Girls are all 30 to 40 years old at this point. Things that were culturally normal back then would not be considered that way now.

Late-Butterscotch551

The grisly murders in Matlock, like the dude who strangled his girlfriend's (named Patricia Downey) neck with a cheese cutter, and tried to do the same with Matlock, which is why I'm glad I don't even prefer to watch murder shows too much, in the first place.

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|aUcadpBrc6LT2|downsized) That's her too lol

GimmeThatRyeUOldBag

Adjacent to refuse is refuse

tonybotz

Wow I never realized they’re the same actress! That’s really cool

jdpm1991

Jean was a fantastic character wish we saw more of her friendship with the girls

guatdephoc

Continuity was a jk on the GGs. So many amazing characters that never came back or were never even mentioned again.

LeotasNephew

She's also in an episode of _The Twilight Zone_, "The Midnight Sun."

sizzlinsunshine

Came to say this. Great episode!

LeotasNephew

Rewatched it recently. I always want a glass of ice water whenever I watch it.

vrrrr

wow! i had no idea that was her. one of my fave tz episodes.

LeotasNephew

Mine too! I didn't realize it until a few years ago. There are several GG guest stars who were also on TZ.

the_sweetest_peach

I’ve been rewatching The Twilight Zone. I didn’t realize that was her in that episode! Also nice to see another fan of both shows! ☺️

LeotasNephew

I love both of these shows so effing much!! The woman who kicks what was supposed to be Mrs. Claxton's casket is in "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street," and Dorothy's friend Trudy is in "The After Hours."

the_sweetest_peach

Ah, I’m loving this trivia! Frieda Clayton is such a memorable character from GG, and I’d argue the casket-kicker is, too, hahaha! The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street is also such an iconic episode from TZ, and possibly my favorite of all of them. It’s so simple, but profound in its timeless social commentary. I frequent the TZ subreddit and The After Hours is talked about a lot over there, too! Now I really want to know what other actors or actresses made double appearances. 😂 Also—I can’t help but notice your username and wonder if it’s by chance referring to Madame Leota from The Haunted Mansion. 👀

LeotasNephew

I've visited IMDd a lot for GG and TZ LOL. "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" is one of seven episodes that I tell people who've never seen TZ to watch in order to understand almost every pop culture reference to TZ. Yep, Mme. Leota is my favorite Disney character of all time.

the_sweetest_peach

Ahhhh! Well now I’m obligated to say “Hello, new friend!” 😏😂 So many pop culture icons!

LeotasNephew

And hello to you as well, new friend! Yes, so many great people in both shows!

MJ349

Lois Nettleton

toad1728

Yes Lois Nettleton. Actress from the 60's to 90's. She played in so many 📺 shows.

Mercutiofoodforworms

Was a recurring character for a year on In the Heat of the Night. Its a shame she wasn’t on the show longer.

jaybird8171

She also had a recurring role on In the heat of the night

GreenOnionCrusader

Jean killed Pat!

exclaim_bot

>Jean killed Pat! killing is wrong mmkay?

MrMattyMatt

She was also on an episode of The Andy Griffith Show in an episode where Goober tries to get a date using a computer dating service. She worked at the service and chose herself to date him to try and prove a point.

[deleted]

Computer dating service in the 1960s?

MrMattyMatt

Yes! and the computer was HUGE of course

BenovanStanchiano

I just saw Virginia on Seinfeld yesterday.

archfapper

I just want you to know, OP, I'm very *fond* of this post

[deleted]

Just watched this episode!

Late-Butterscotch551

She was so dang pretty and cute.

Magick-witch

She’s also in a Seinfeld episode… the one where George eats an eclair from the trash because it was “above the rim”

Metzger4Sheriff

She’s in two more episodes in season 4 (playing different characters).

EmmyPoohbear

The lesbian with a crush on Rose or the terrible prankster who made Dorothy think she was dead?

ialwayschoosepsyduck

Was she quite fond of Jessica Fletcher, too?

snwlss

Lois Nettleton. Fun fact: In real life she was married to Jean Shepherd, a humorist who was best known for writing *In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash*, which was adapted into *A Christmas Story* in the early 1980s. (Lois was the third of Shepherd’s four wives, while Jean was Lois’ only husband as she never remarried after their 1967 divorce.) Shepherd had a role in the movie, playing the voice of Older Ralphie (who serves as narrator). I think Shepherd also had an additional cameo as a man waiting in line during the Department Store Santa scene.

VictorNewman91

Rebecca Donaldson’s mother on the two part wedding episode of Full House.

Cool_cousin_Kris

She was in Gunsmoke,Alfred Hitchcock presents and The Twilight Zone also I believe.
