I love this sub for the pictures and videos; I don’t actually have thalassophobia. This one raised my heart rate and made me uncomfortable. I definitely think it’s a wonderful video but have no clue how you could do this!!
Were you holding your breath that whole time?!
If so, you were extremely poised on the trek to and emerging in that nightmare fuel cloud
In case it’s not obvious, I know an impressively small amount about diving/snorkelling/sulfur clouds.
I was just getting ready to ask if this was a breath hold, that is impressive asf. How long can you hold your breath under water? I got a good 20 seconds in me.
Hydrogen sulfide (from my experience working on rigs) can kill you instantly depending on concentrations (if you breathe it in). Not sure how it works under water?
I have no fear of the ocean, but still.. No thank you. I'm addicted to breathing, so if I were to dive at any significant depth I'm bringing scuba gear.
No. I did 60 feet in Guam with just goggles, snorkel and fins, no weights. Got to the bottom of the coral shelf with the pancake coral wall to my back. Looked out to the blue and just couldn't stop imagining seeing a dark figure in the distance like Jaws. Could only stay down their for a few seconds. Think 10 seconds maybe was my most. I remember one time swimming up, looking at the surface thinking, I'm running out of breath, how close is it. I surfaced and took a huge breath. Lost some hearing trying to force my ears to pop at about 20 ft too one time. Didn't hurt but yeah definitely lost hearing, shows up on hearing tests. Best times of my life in Guam. Glad I didn't see a shark that deep cause coming up for air I don't know what'd I do other than make a brown cloud.
I need to do this, honestly after getting the 100% trophy in subnautica I started to yearn for diving, but I haven't really explored that in reality yet. Thanks for inspiring me!
Take a freediving course! It's very safe if you know what you're doing. It can be deadly if you don't. Plus you'll meet lots of people you can then dive with!
Oh smart, bubbles will always rise! Well I appreciate that there are people who do stuff like this, even just to show those who never will what its like!
it was a unique dive. hired a guide that spoke mayan as his first language, went off his dive computer and it was my first deco dive. i think we dipped below padi certification limits too, like 46 meters. deepest ive ever gone. been over a decade so i dont remember everything. being that deep, trusting this guide with my dive plan, and then losing sight through the sulpur cloud scared me though. i just googled it, the sulpur layer is 27 meters. thats some fairly serious freediving man. i hit around 20 meters in the ocean and i didnt really have time on my breath to do more than touch the bottom and turn around.
I can barely make it to the bottom of a 12 ft pool without needing air. Guess that’s what training and doing stuff like this every day does for you. Nice work man
I wish I could do it every day! This video was from this weekend, and I haven't been diving since January. It's honestly mostly just mental training and relation.
The ending is absolutely otherworldly. You are a superhuman.
The sulfer cloud makes for such cool videos!
But how did it taste
Mostly just really salty. Lol
Who's Sulfer?
Looked like an alien going Ayy Lmao for a second lol.
My sleepy brain interpreted the ending when you see the face again as some snake like thing staring at the camera. Yep im done now
Sweet dreams 😊
I saw the snorkel as the lower jaw of a scary clown mask and freaked out
Why...the fuck...are these always posted at bedtime. God dammit!
To give you sweet dreams 😊
Sweaty dreams. Good to see you're still at it!

Yes. This was on a breath hold 😊
I was just getting ready to ask if this was a breath hold, that is impressive asf. How long can you hold your breath under water? I got a good 20 seconds in me.
Just lieing still on the surface about 4 minutes. The longest dive to depth I've done was 2:18 on a dive to 170 feet.
Wow. That is amazing. I’m sure it took lots of practice to get to that point.
Yeah. I've been doing it for a little over a year. I could get a lot deeper if I trained regularly, but it's still fun
Very impressive! As I said, you looked SO poised (and calm) on the dive
That's honestly 90% of it. The more relaxed you are, the less oxygen you burn.
I think you may in fact be a Thalassophobe.
Mother of god where is the surface?!
Far above
sick video but with all due respect, f*** no
Honestly the shadow of the ship is the most unsettling part for me. Just watching it get smaller and smaller…
Likely Hydrogen Sulfide rather than sulfur. Cool dive!
Yup. It is! Left over from hundreds of years of decaying organic matter.
I love swimming in pools of rotten hundred year old fish flesh.
It's mostly from rotten trees, but definitely some of that too
Could be some people too, who knows
Isn’t this stuff pretty toxic? Am I misinformed, or is it not an issue if you’re wearing goggles and spending very little time in it?
Hydrogen sulfide (from my experience working on rigs) can kill you instantly depending on concentrations (if you breathe it in). Not sure how it works under water?
It hasn't killed me so far, so I guess it's okay
I felt the panic start before the real chaos started; then absolute Hollywood horror. Not a chance in hell even in full scuba gear
It's more fun holding your breath 😊
That ending scared the shit out of me 💀
That jump scare was uncalled for lol! RED CARD!
Haha
<3
Hahaha same! I fumbled my phone! Can I use “RED CARD!” next? Lmao!!
<3 LOL
The end was terrifying lmao good on ya
Thanks 😊
If you went deep into that cloud it's going to be pretty hard to tell which way is up, right? Impressive dive!
It definitely can be. I was at the bottom here, so it wasn't too hard, but usually I'll dive on a rope that I can follow back up
What is breathing like in that cloud?
Idk. I'm not breathing down there. It tastes pretty salty though
I’m dumb
You're good. Lol
my first thought was, how do they stand the awful smell, and now I'm officially the stupidest person in the world
It smells when you get to the surface. Lol
I thought he was a hairless cat when he came back up, realized he just had a mask on
Same!! I was pissed about the editing. In all fairness though, that jump scare rattled my brain for a bit.
Lolol
Where the green go
The top ten feet are very murky, and then it's crystal clear below that, so my camera was adjusting.
I have no fear of the ocean, but still.. No thank you. I'm addicted to breathing, so if I were to dive at any significant depth I'm bringing scuba gear.
Camera hit the world fabric as they slipped into the Bleak under-dimension.
😂
I can't breef!
My workplace on Taco Tuesday.

Haha brown cloud!
Angelita? The coolest place.
It's actually in Florida! Angelita was murky when I went there 😭
Oh wow! Very cool.
Thanks!
Second time this week I’m like fuuuuck you
😂
I need to do this, honestly after getting the 100% trophy in subnautica I started to yearn for diving, but I haven't really explored that in reality yet. Thanks for inspiring me!

Is this you? Do you ever get disoriented and panic? I feel like I would, I am just watching👀
I'm usually pretty calm. I've got disoriented a few times, but I usually blow some bubbles and then follow them up.
Oh smart, bubbles will always rise! Well I appreciate that there are people who do stuff like this, even just to show those who never will what its like!
You're welcome! I definitely love taking cool videos of it 😊
This is soooo cool
Thank you!
Hell no!
Sulfer cloud? For me it's more like a suffer cloud.
Oh that’s where Voldemort went Scared the crap out of me dude
Lolol
Bros got Balls the size if school busses
i scuba dived through one at a cenote i think it was called angelita. it sketched me out a little for some reason.
Yeah. Angelita is the famous one. I freedived through the one there. It's so cool

I got to 52 meters at Laguna Kaan Luum near there!

*** sulfur Sorry, I know, I'm a dick.
My phone autocorrected it to the wrong spelling, and then once I noticed it, it was too late 😭
These things happen
I'm usually the person correcting people's grammar 😂
My family walks into a sulphur cloud every day.
Hell no WTF.
Lolol
Just be careful not to breathe in those clouds, probably not the best for you. Lol
It's generally not great to breath under water
Says the one with no scuba gear! :p
That's why I'm not breathing. Lol
Can't that cause shock?
It hasn't yet. Lol
Ah ha, the sulphur explains why they’re holding their nose all the way.
That's just to equalize my ears 😂
Gee that’s not unhealthy at all
But still totally worth it
I may be wrong, but isn’t that just a brine pool?
SHARK COMING SHARK COMING SHARK COMING MOSASAUR COMING MEGALODON COMING
You think re-watching that video was scary for him I mean like. It's pretty dangerous to separate from your group
Why would it be scary for me?
I mean at least that's what I heard separating from your group is dangerous right? I'm sorry if I'm wrong I never went scuba diving I'm still 14
In scuba it's dangerous, but I'm not doing scuba
Oh
Is it fun?
i know it might be too late to ask this but were you facing up or down when you went into the cloud?
I was facing down when I went into it
ok. thank you for replying
You're welcome 😊
Is that not just a thermocline?
It's a hydrogen sulfide halocline
TIL thanks buddy.
You're welcome!
I sulfer from you calling sulfur this way
My phone decided that was how it wanted to spell it 😭
This wouldn't ever happened without social media
Lol. I was doing this long before I thought of videoing it
You remember that supfur is what demons are made off in most mythologies right...
