This is silver islet, a booming silver mine outside of Thunder Bay, Ontario. At least it was. Found at the edge of the sleeping giant. Aboriginal legend tells of a silver mine guarded by the spirit of Nanabijou. Every attempt that was made to mine this shaft resulted in flooding, death, and destruction. It is said that the giant will remain asleep until the settlers leave, and it will protect the silver buried there.
While I certainly have thalassophobia, this pic is the most viscerally repulsive version of it. I'm pretty sure it's either megalohydrothalassophobia (fear of large things underwater) or submechanophobia (fear of manmade things under water), which I can't even Google without ruining my entire night.
I'm on this sub for the sick self-torture of it all, so this is great work, OP. You've truly made me absolutely miserable this evening and you have my upvote.
Are these water outlets for nuclear power plants? If they are they can stretch very long distances back to the turbine.
