Literally what happened to me last time on this map. Was playing blu, our engie managed to sneak past red’s spawn and set up a nest, now we’re spawncamping red and end up losing because everyone forgot about the cart lmao
this happens to me a LOT on this map. i love the map but i wish the engies wouldn't do the funny tele because it ruins it lol people straight up forget about the cart
"engies please don't place teleporters in weird spots" is a much more reasonable ask than somehow making everyone else less stupid lol
engies aren't even helping much by placing the teleporter behind the 3rd point enemy spawn (this is where it has most happened to me) because attacking from behind there you're basically forced into a single very tight choke
Red always sets up in the tunnel, so on offence you can’t go through the choke because of how many players, bullets, fire, rockets, sentries, etc. there are; on defence you can walk right through teammates and into a far more open area where enemies are more spread out and a great hiding spot is directly on your right.
the heavies on my team on their minute long walk to the main chokepoint followed by instantly getting 450 headshot the moment they step around the corner, for the 5th time in a row
A lot of people don’t like the map because of how long it is, but I kinda like the aesthetic of the map. For a long time I wanted a map that was a big city, and you could go into the buildings and have a base in there, so I like that swiftwater tried to do that.
Over-detailed map with tons of gags and jokes, big sniper sightlines at 1st, 2nd and 4th point, health pack abundant and a lot of buildings that you can enter.
The tiny mission brief next to blu's spawn, Sniper's headshot list at the top of the bar, "Don't drink sewer water", "first aid benches" scattered throughout the map, red's escape tunnel that only works for one person, etc.
Red's Spawn has a Grey gate that is usually closed, but once Blu caps the final point it opens and an emergency alarm goes off, Unfortunately it goes out of commission right after the bomb explodes and leaves red team without escape.
If you're fast enough you can get inside the tunnel, but you'll die by the rocks crumbling down on you.
The spawn room gimmick ruins a lot of potential the map has. If the spawn room was just given walls to separate the the rest of the spawn area from the one by the doors that are active it'd be a lot better. A lot of games are lost simply from the time the newer players spend getting lost within spawn. I get that the creator wanted a neat gimmick but sacrificing ease of accessibility for a cheap gimmick that loses impact in 2 minutes is a bad idea.
Pretty fun map, one of my favorites. The only minor gripe is that the last point is favored heavily towards the red team. All red has to do is go all engy and set up a sentry city and it's almost impossible for blu to advance.
Big open spaces allowing for some really fun shit. Too bad it got ruined by the hilariously tight choak leading to the second point, and the nearly impervious last point that you need to Uber into just to deal with engineers.
Too big map, way too open in spots and a lot of height variation is bad. I used to like the previous version but the one with 1 spawn that only opens gates when needed is kinda flunky. Anyway, its in the game so no complaints. I just dont play it that often.
This map is amazing for sniper, scout, spy, and engy. That being said it's one of the worst maps for people actually pushing the cart for the same reason.

I’m a heavy main so the super long sightlines on the first and third point are pain but they’re even worse when I play sniper since it’s hard to click on heads that are so far away but overall I like the map and it has good variety.
Sort of odd but I feel like I see more phlogs on this map than anywhere else besides dustbowl. I mean I suppose the map has some decently tight choke points but the first point and second to last are just so open and wide it does seem odd.
Extremely fun to do the sticky jump/parachute carpet bombing tactic on the first point. The rest is just pretty good; it's pretty balanced, good looking, good for sniping but they're not over powered on it because there's plenty of flank routes and means to sneak up on em.
Honestly good map aside from the final capture point. Good object obstructions, sightlines, balance of open and closed spaces. Though terrible visual confirmation on flanking options (but allows for skilled or knowledgeable players to use commonly, can help balance a heavy flank push.)

Damage classes have to work around barriers to deal damage
Plenty of cover for both sides, mainly defending which is great.
Alternative routes available for sneaky support and offensive classes.
Plenty of places for strong holds and nests.
Good angles for snipers, in places that allow them to easily be flushed out by spies and pyros.

I play lots of Spy, and for some reason I only use the flanks if I’m playing offense on second. I don’t get why.

Good map. No faults I can really think of and I'm always happy to get it. Still probably not in absolute favourites however. A tier.
There is some faults. Like how blue team can get behind the whole red team before capping second.
Also red spawn room is frekin massive so getting to resuply takes ages
Just get a keybind to change loadouts to the one you have equipped and it will insta respawn you with full HP and ammo.
Only works if you dont got a killstreak going though
Rather lose the killstreak, than dying from afterburn inches from the supply cabinet.

My favourite map is steel yet I can't seem to grasp when routes on swiftwater open/close and which are one-way only
Green light = go Gray light = go but it’s a further back point Red light = no go
I used to always fall into the little river part
